SO much to cover here but learning about the sexiness of a fast brings us closer to it being, yes, a benefit. From promoting autophagy to simply delaying gratification, fasting can yield dope results. And we talk about the 4 types of fast and what they yield. But I warm you: a biblical level fast ain't in the cards - there's just not enough meat on the bone for that one for real! Ancient Practices and Philosophies: Spiritual and Religious Significance: Historically, fasting has been practiced in nearly every major religion for spiritual purification, self-discipline, and enlightenment. For example, Ramadan in Islam, Yom Kippur in Judaism, and Lent in Christianity all incorporate fasting as a means of drawing closer to the divine and practicing self-restraint. Ancient Medicine and Philosophies: Ancient Greek physicians and philosophers, including Hippocrates, Galen, and Plato, praised fasting for its mental and physical health benefits, advocating it as a means to ensure long life, health, and wisdom. They recognized fasting as a way to cleanse the body and mind, allowing for greater mental clarity. Physical Benefits Rooted in History: Detoxification and Cleansing: Ancient practices often highlighted fasting as a method to cleanse the body of toxins and impurities, a concept that aligns with modern understandings of autophagy. Autophagy, the body's process of cleaning out damaged cells to regenerate newer, healthier cells, is boosted during periods of fasting. Disease Prevention: Historical accounts suggest fasting was used as a therapeutic measure to treat and prevent diseases. Modern research supports this, indicating that fasting can improve heart health, reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, and potentially influence cancer outcomes through various metabolic and cellular mechanisms. Mental Benefits Rooted in History: Mental Clarity and Enlightenment: Many ancient cultures and spiritual traditions practiced fasting to achieve mental clarity and enlightenment. The reduction in constant digestive processing allows for increased energy and resources to be allocated towards cognitive function and neurogenesis. Self-Discipline and Willpower: The act of fasting requires significant self-discipline and control, traits that were highly valued in many ancient societies for personal development and spiritual growth. This practice of voluntary abstinence builds willpower, a skill that translates into other areas of life, improving mental resilience and focus. Key Insights from "The Complete Guide to Fasting" BY Moore and Fung Scientific Backing for Historical Practices: The book provides scientific evidence supporting many of the benefits of fasting recognized by ancient cultures, such as detoxification, improved metabolic health, and enhanced mental clarity. It delves into how fasting activates autophagy, echoing the historical perspective on cleansing and rejuvenation. Modern Interpretation of Fasting: Fung and Moore explore various forms of fasting, including intermittent fasting, extended fasting, and time-restricted eating, offering a modern take on how these practices can be incorporated into daily life. They provide a practical guide to understanding which type of fasting might be most beneficial for individual health goals, much like ancient practices were tailored to the individual's spiritual or health needs. Fasting for Disease Prevention and Management: Reflecting on historical uses of fasting for disease treatment, the book examines the role of fasting in managing modern health issues like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. It presents fasting as a tool for insulin sensitivity improvement and weight management, providing a non-pharmacological approach to disease prevention and management. Mental and Emotional Benefits: The book touches on the mental and emotional aspects of fasting, acknowledging the mental clarity and increased cognitive function that fasting can promote. It also addresses the psychological and emotional challenges of fasting, offering strategies for success that resonate with the historical emphasis on self-discipline and inner growth.

In this week’s episode we get Bibical with Nick Patterson. Nick is one of the true good guys on the planet, and he came to my attention when he held off 26 Police Officers during lockdown who wanted to seize his gym for “breaking covid restrictions”. Unlucky for them, Nick knew his rights and the law, after standing his ground he sent them packing. This led to me wanting to get Nick on the show for you guys, so you could learn the truth about the law, and how you can stand your ground if the same happens to you. In today’s show we discussed: Nick’s run ins with the Police Nick’s background on politics What got Nick interested in Common Law Why Nick isn’t a fan of religion, even though he follows The Bible The true meaning behind words Why statues creates contradict themselves The maxims of Law & Equity How you can take back your power & much more I have some great episodes, and some fantastic guests on my show, but this episode with Nick is one I urge everyone to listen to, because it will not only give you an understanding into why the’ covid laws’ are unjust, but it will allow you to see that no one has power over you, and that it is actually us that have the true power in the situation we find ourselves in today, not the government or police. You can find Nick here: https://john8.net/ Enjoy the show and don’t forget to share it with your friends and family, as well as writing a comment, or a review on iTunes. Today for the sunday paranormal stream we discuss current missing 411 cases, demonic possession, and an introduction into the Nephalem.
Today we discuss mindfulness, mysticism, and how to live a happy, more purposeful life. What's your purpose for your life? Are you here to simply go through the challenges of growing up, going to school, getting married, having children, earning money, and then, after many years of trying to find happiness through altering states of pain and pleasure, be buried and gone? Sounds dismal, doesn't it? Well, this show is all about helping you to attain your highest level of passion, purpose, and achievement in this lifetime. Is there something more for you out there? I'm hoping you're saying yes! My first guest, Julie Potiker, is a mindfulness expert, author, and attorney who shares mindfulness techniques with the world through her Mindful Methods for Life trainings. She joins me today to discuss mindful methods for staying calm in the midst of chaos and how mindfulness rewires our brains for happiness. My second guest, Rabbi Daniel Bortz, is an author, speaker, and millennial rabbi who embarked on a 6-year journey into Jewish thought, studying Biblical, Talmudic and Jewish mystical teachings in schools around the world. He joins us today to talk about Jewish mysticism, connecting to our divine source, and how to live a purposeful life. We Discuss: Attaining the highest level of passion, purpose, and achievement in our lifetimes Tuning into something greater than ourselves and stepping into our own power Using meditation to slow down and have awareness in order to alleviate suffering What life looks like when we live it mindlessly versus from a place of mindfulness How mindfulness affects our brains and is able to rewire them for happiness Having compassion for ourselves, the world, and letting our hearts radiate outward Some mindful methods for staying calm in the midst of chaos in our world today How we can apply the mystical teachings in the Kabbalah and the Torah in our lives Recognizing the beauty, divinity, lessons, and purpose in the world around us Learning to trust that there's good reasoning for the things that happen in our lives Looking beyond the superficial to connect with ourselves and why we're here How we can start to live more purposeful lives and make a difference in the world Taking the essence of what Judaism teaches and bringing it into our everyday lives Visit: VoicesofCourage.us

Episode 3 - Show NotesWe dive straight into an interview with our first guest –Andrew has a wonderful discussion with a Christian John Nelson who has studied at Nottingham University. John’s studies included a deep dive into Historical Jesus research and he puts the recent and current research approaches into context. Then we move to our section “Reason and God” and we respond to Chapter 6 of the Christian book “Evidence for God: 50 Arguments for Faith from the Bible, History, Philosophy and Science” by Mike Licona and William Dembski. It can be found on Amazon. The chapter is “Responding to the Argument from Evil: Three Approaches for the Theist”. The main point we address is the appeal to ignorance of what God would do to make ‘goods’ in the world. How do we know that God isn’t producing a greater good from the death of a child from illness? Cynics may call this ‘playing the mystery card’ but its more honourable name is ‘sceptical theism’. We mention the online 'Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy' on sceptical theism, see http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/skeptical-theism/also this is helpfulhttps://www.iep.utm.edu/skept-th/#SH5a Our main discussion is on the implications for the believer in adopting sceptical theism, which are unexpected, unwelcome and far reaching (in our view). For Is that in the Bible?, we look at the verses before that famous “my ways are higher than your ways” verse in Isaiah 55. We start at verse 6 and see a different message. For the Climate Endnote, Ed gives some parallels between the 1833 Abolition of Slavery in the British Empire and the massive policy change required to properly address climate change. On Thursday May 16th, 2013 the Hermetic Hour with host Poke Runyon will present a review on the new book "Love Sex Fear Death" The Inside Story of The Process Church of the Final Judgment, by Timothy Wyllie, edited by Adam Parfrey from Feral House. Timothy Wyllie will call in and give us his inside story on "The Inside Story" of one of the strangest, and most influential "Cults" of the psychedelic 60s-70s era. The Processians were a spin-off of Scientology who worked a neo-Bibical mythology in which Lucifer, Satan, Jehovah, and Christ were equally venerated and extolled. The Process was a communal Millernarian (apocalyptic) cult that fascinated the youth subculture and frightened the older generation. They were very creative and dedicated to spreading their radical doomsday philosophy. They were masters of what we now call "disinformation." We will discuss their influence on the 1990s Satanic Ritual Abuse mass delusion, and the subsequent Demonic Illuminati conspiracy obsessions that pollute the internet. So, if you want to get to the Inside Story of The Process, tune in and get processed.
Join Chief Rabbi Hilbrant on this episode as he answers the following questions: 1) Are the current people living as Palenstinians actually the Bibical group known as the Philistines? 2) Does their claim to be Philisitnes from the era of King David equate to ownership of the land? 3) Why are the Arabs making claim to the land of Israel?

Welcome to another edition of the Bible in the News. This is Paul Billington commenting on Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu's statement last week linking Adolf Hitler with the wartime Palestinian Arab leader, the Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini, and the Holocaust. Not surprisingly his comments drew a sharp response from President Barack Hussein Obama (to give him his full name) of the United States because Netanyahu's statement was, he said, "inflammatory rhetoric."
