Send us a textIt is finally the last 24 hours of the Bush Administration. It is the end of an era. Those 24 hours will be crammed with activity, with President Bush preparing to  leave office, with President -Elect Clinton making the rounds in Washington D.C. as he prepares to take the reigns of power, and with our military conducting air strikes on Saddam Hussein in Iraq. It is an eventful 24 hours. We will take you to the news conference by Press Secretary Marlin Fitzwater announcing the actions overseas. Then to the different activities around the nation's Capitol City as Bill Clinton visits with his many supporters, the nation's Governors, a Howard University event honoring him, and star studded Gala event that will cap off his last day as a private citizen. We will also check in on the mostly quiet itinerary of President George H. W. Bush who finds that after another two months of overseas operations both in Somalia and in Iraq, his popularity rating has soared back up into the 60% range. Amazingly, he was one of the most consistently popular Presidents in American history only seeing it drop in 1992 long enough for him to lose the election. Bush, famous for his graciousness, keeps a low profile in these final hours only inviting some of his closest political friends and staff over for a final dinner in the White House. We will also look at the legendary poet Maya Angelou as she prepares to read a poem at the Clinton Inaugural and at the end of this broadcast we let you hear it , out of order, because it was a powerful moment in the Inauguration of Bill Clinton.  Questions or comments at , Randalrgw1@aol.com , https://twitter.com/randal_wallace , and http://www.randalwallace.com/Please Leave us a review at wherever you get your podcastsThanks for listening!!

Susan Altrui has worked for the Little Rock Zoo since 2005, but it wasn't until director Mr. Mike Blakely announced his retirement in 2020 that she moved from head of marketing to become the acting director. Later she cemented her role when the late City Manager Bruce Moore promoted Susan to the full-time position of Arkansas's Little Rock Zoo director. Little Rock is lucky to have such an accredited Zoo. Interestingly, it is the largest family destination in Arkansas, conveniently located in the center of the State, and in the heart of the Capitol City. The Zoo not only cares for over 500 animals, but also provides inspiration, education, and conservation programs that grow a passion for animals and a respect for all living things. Update: In January 2025, Susan moved to the position of City Manager for Little Rock.

The Pro Road National Championships are set for May 19 -26 in Charleston this year, two days longer than the national cycling event's debut in the city last year. Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau President Tim Brady said they are looking for about 100 more volunteers to serve as course marshals. Course marshals serve a key role in keeping both race participants and spectators safe. They monitor crowds along race routes to reduce risks to cyclists, provide rapid communication relating to any hazards that may arise, serve as a crossing guard along roadways operating as race courses, and act as an ambassador to spectators regarding event details. Volunteers will receive a whistle and a branded volunteer shirt. All shifts are provided with a meal and water. To sign up to volunteer or to view the race schedule and routes, visit the CVB's website. As the state animal, black bears symbolize West Virginia's wild beauty and resilience.  However, as their population expands and human activity continues to grow, encounters between people and black bears are becoming more common—especially when black bears are drawn to easy food sources. The good news is that most conflicts can be prevented. By learning a few basics, you can help keep black bears wild and communities safe. JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - In the past two weeks, Jackson police have responded to three deadly domestic violence cases. Reynaldo Resendiz Mendoza is still on the run wanted for shooting and killing his sister 30-year-old Susana Resendiz. Her body was found Monday at the OYO Townhouse Inn and Suites on Beasley Road. Twenty-four-year-old Anthony Hawkins was arrested Thursday and charged with the stabbing death of 23-year-old Deandre McDonald. He was killed Thursday on West McDowell Road. According to police, the two were in a relationship. On September 4th, 63-year-old Louise Banks-Tornes was found brutally beaten to death at her home on Carver Street. Her son, 42-year-old Jerry Banks, was accused of the crime. He fled the scene and was captured and arrested three days later. “As many as half of the homicides that we worked this entire year have been domestic disputes, the result of domestic disputes,” said JPD Detective Tommie Brown. “People who know each other, family members, acquaintances, people in relationships.” “You have friends out here you know [are] killing each other, but when we talk about family killing each other, that's a very sensitive combination right there,” said Deputy Chief of Investigations Sequerna Banks. “So when I go out to these scenes, as a mother, I'm saddened.” According to Dr. Christine Bridges, with the Haven House Family Shelter, domestic violence cases in the state have risen about 70 percent in the past two years.

The Even Heroes Bleed comic book universe keeps getting bigger! The previous adventures of Ultra-Rosa are recorded in the special cross over episodes featuring a new Game Master (I played the NPC vigilante Ultra-Rosa), and we had an opportunity to continue the comics line recently when Mr. Zozo's Player couldn't make the session. Needing a name for when Mettle's Player takes the reins of the campaign world I've decided (in the spirit of The Punisher) Ultra-Rosa's comic will be called Capitol City Crime Journal - The Red Report! I won't be around for the next session so we all decided this side adventure will continue in Mr. Zozo's own "comic", Road to Redemption featuring the Macabre Mr. Zozo. So listen further as Ultra-Rosa and The Olympian team up together for the first time and investigate the rash of murders involving the Church of the New Revelation. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/vanishingtower/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vanishingtower/support

Before Keri joins, Carter begins by addressing the wave of health care professionals being fired for their refusal to take one of the COVID vaccines that have emergency approval from the FDA. Next, the two discuss self-censoring in order to remain on YouTube, and the way in which authoritarians weed out independent thinkers by constantly changing the acceptable narrative. After explaining that "gun control" requires enforcement by men with guns, the two turn to an older article titled, "We Need Big Brother to Beat This Virus," citing it as an example of how propagandists can preemptively undermine counterarguments. Next, they rail against the "cameras in classrooms" solution that some conservatives seem to think is the silver bullet that will eradicate CRT from public schools. Carter takes from flak from the chat when he suggests that children can learn math from Khan Academy and English from books, and that parents are ultimately responsible for raising their own kids. After quoting the Violent Femmes, the two discuss vaccine mandates and how to get exemptions. The show ends as people roast Carter, mostly for having awesome hair combined with a demonstrated ignorance of the Golden Girls.
