How to Stop Monkey Pox, my pirate bed, TV sex changes, dial 988 for suicide, running your A/C, sharing a stage with Dave Chappelle, the woman of the year, Abbott and Costello, conspiracy theories by ideology, plus sized travellers, Chub Rub, NYC vs. water guns, and pretending to be arrested; all that and more this week on The Dick Show!
On this week's episode of The Diet Obsessed Podcast, I breakdown my unbalanced weekend in San Diego, where I drank WAY too much alcohol, ate disgusting food and caught Covid.I then review a couple episodes of The Taylor Strecker Show, where she described her recent run in with "Chub Rub" where she became extremely uncomfortable after having to power walk 20 minutes to the Post Office in the sweltering heat. This brought me back to a time in my life where my father was held back from participating in fun activities because of his health and I became emotional as I discussed the importance of maintaining some level of fitness, to prevent heart attacks, diabetes and the ability to live life to the fullest. The second episode of The Taylor Strecker Show I review, involves guest host Joey Skladany who loves to eat, but also likes to maintain a lower body weight; he wants Taylor to keep the promises she keeps making to herself to "do something" to lose weight and get healthier. It probably doesn't help that he describes her as a "fried dumpling" but it's out of love, so she gives him a pass.If these topics interest you, you will love this episode! Who knew preventing thigh chafe for thousands of women around the world could smash diet culture and fatphobia at the same time?Marnie didn't listen when experts told her chub rub was too niche for a business. Instead, she channelled her fire for solving this painful problem into a business that's changing the world! In this episode we dive into:When your business becomes a mission and you're committed to changing lives you find the strength to keep going when things get hardHow Marnie had to prove that solving thigh chafe was not a niche problemChanging society's preconceived notions that chub rub only happens to plus-size peopleRelatable stories on our mission to prevent chub rubHow solving thigh chafe become a crusade for changeWhy Thigh Society became a transformative experience for Marnie on a personal levelChallenging fatphobia, diet culture, and the way we objectify ourselves and each other“The business was a really transformative experience for me personally. In a somewhat genuine attempt to empower women, the founder of WAHAM (Women Are Having A Moment) Justine and her followers end up making the average woman feel like she needs to be “fixed.” The conference featured bad testimonies about not having a career and being happy about doing nothing, as well as selling overpriced cosmetic enhancement products for a more affluent, higher wage-earning crowd. Annie didn’t think Chub-Rub, cellulite makeup for legs and hundred dollar sex toys were a way for women to take their power back. It was obvious that the WAHAM Conference was simply a way to monetize on women’s insecurities and the “idea” of being empowered. Annie was disappointed with her experience as she was hoping to have a great article for The Thorn about Women in Business.
