The Big Sexy Chat Podcast is a truly refreshing and empowering podcast that tackles important topics surrounding body image, weight loss, and self-acceptance. Hosted by Merf and Chrystal, the chemistry between the two hosts is palpable, making for an enjoyable listening experience. Each episode offers valuable insights and perspectives on navigating societal pressures and the often frustrating journey of living in a larger body.
One of the best aspects of The Big Sexy Chat Podcast is its unapologetic celebration of all body types. Merf and Chrystal promote self-love, acceptance, and sex positivity, creating a safe space for listeners to feel seen and understood. They discuss a range of topics including social pressures about body image, effects of taking medication for conditions such as diabetes, and the emotional struggles associated with weight loss. The hosts bring a level of authenticity to their conversations that is relatable and comforting.
Another standout feature of this podcast is its ability to debunk common stereotypes surrounding weight loss. The hosts address the frustrations they experience with the prevalence of fad diets and quick-fix solutions offered by pharmaceutical companies. They emphasize the importance of addressing underlying issues rather than relying solely on medications or extreme dieting.
However, one potential downside to The Big Sexy Chat Podcast is that it may not necessarily appeal to everyone. The content revolves around topics related to body image and weight, so those who do not resonate with these themes might find it less engaging. Additionally, some listeners may prefer a more structured format with clear segments or interviews.
In conclusion, The Big Sexy Chat Podcast is an exceptional podcast that provides much-needed representation for individuals living in larger bodies. Merf and Chrystal's genuine chemistry make for an entertaining listen while also tackling significant issues surrounding body positivity and self-acceptance. Whether you are struggling with your own body image or simply looking for an inclusive podcast to broaden your perspective, this podcast is well worth a listen.

Send us a textAre societal stereotypes about body image and size finally being dismantled in pop culture? Join us on Big Sexy Chat as we celebrate both the triumphs and setbacks of fat representation in media. We kick off with an enthusiastic spotlight on Michelle Buteau's "Survival of the Thickest," applauding its clever writing and diverse cast, while lamenting the loss of "Somebody Somewhere," a gem in queer culture representation. Our conversation turns somber as we dissect Ryan Murphy's "Grotesquery," critiquing its harmful depiction of fat characters through outdated stereotypes.Shifting gears, we tackle the complex intersection of body image and celebrity influence. Our discussion zeroes in on the backlash faced by Lizzo, who finds herself in hot water for promoting weight loss, seemingly contradicting her earlier body positivity advocacy. We ponder the pressures placed on celebrities like Gabourey Sidibe, whose personal health choices ignite public debate and highlight the ongoing tension between personal autonomy and public expectation. The conversation encourages listeners to reflect on the societal implications these high-profile narratives hold for the fat liberation community. We conclude by celebrating the often-overlooked voices of plus-size men in fashion and society. Figures like Bruce from Chubster, Big Burr, and Jeff Jenkins are pushing boundaries, proving that joy and confidence do not conform to size. However, we also caution against the recent shift among some influencers towards fitness-focused content in the Ozempic era. Throughout, we emphasize the importance of allyship and authentic representation, championing influencers and organizations that are reshaping the narrative around body image. As we traverse the shifting sands of perimenopause and menopause, it can often feel like uncharted territory. That's why we invited Karelin, a licensed marriage and family therapist and menopause coach, to walk us through this landscape with humor, empathy, and a treasure trove of expertise. Her voice joins ours in a chorus that sings of the complexities, the emotional rollercoaster, and the surprisingly sparse map of information that leaves so many women feeling lost. We're here to place more markers on that map, to share anecdotes that echo your own, and to affirm that the journey, while unique for each woman, is one we can navigate together.Throughout our conversations, we don't just talk about perimenopause; we get personal. From mood swings that can feel like tidal waves, to the hot flashes that could probably toast marshmallows, we lay it all out. We share laughs over the unexpected – like the time sweat patches became my unexpected accessory at a crucial meeting – and we lean into the serious, discussing the support that can make all the difference. Partners who can ride out the storm with us, medical professionals who listen, and personal toolkits that help manage the myriad symptoms. We discuss the role of HRT, navigating body acceptance, and even how a sprinkle of micro-resiliency can be your best friend during a sleepless night. But we don't stop there. As we wrap up, we brush on the interplay of alcohol with hormones, and the value of somatic therapy for emotional regulation. And because menopause can affect more than just our bodies, we touch on the evolving understanding of sexuality, stress management, and the sheer power found in community solidarity. Plus, we've got a Nordic romance recommendation you won't want to miss. Imagine the possibilities when combining the powerful worlds of sex and cannabis. That's exactly what Ashley Manta, an award-winning sex and relationship coach, has done by creating the term "Cannasexual", which she defines as "mindfully and deliberately combining sex and cannabis to deepen intimacy and enhance pleasure." We had the chance to explore Ashley's personal journey with cannabis, how it has changed her sex life, and her expansion into the realm of psychedelics and altered states.www.CannaSexual.com is Ashley's website. Playboy Magazine blog about weed and sex:https://www.playboy.com/read/playboy-advisor-weed-sexAshley shared her insights on the unique experience of visiting a cannabis store, the delicious smell of cannabis, the range of THC levels and how they affect people differently, as well as the intersection between cannabis and sex toys. We also discussed how body size and weight don't necessarily impact THC levels, the endocannabinoid system, and the power of CBD products combined with sex toys. Ashley has some real gems to share when it comes to the right approach for using cannabis and psychedelics in sex and relationships. In this fascinating conversation, Ashley opened up about her use of cannabis and psychedelics in her sex life, the intentional approach required when entering into a partner space while in an altered state, and her experiences teaching these practices to her clients. We also discussed the potential effects and dangers of getting too high and methods for regulating back down. We discussed Aubrey's newest book "You just need to lose weight, and 19 other myths about fat people."Merf and I had the absolute honor of interviewing Aubrey Gordon - also known as "Your Fat Friend" and co-host of the wildly popular podcast, "Maintenance Phase."Thank you, Aubrey. We had a blast and hope you did, too.Merf starts off by describing to Aubrey why she loved the style of her new book, "You Just Need to Lose Weight." We loved her writing style, how the chapters were broken down, and the definitions of various words we use in our community, and we REALLY loved the reflective questions Aubrey created. (Not to mention SO MANY citations and research in her book.) It is truly a fat person's RESOURCE GUIDE.We hear a fabulous story about Merf and her boss who asked their executive team (and her work) if anyone has been reading anything that really made them think and Merf suggest Aubrey's new book! I (Chrystal) ask Aubrey how come she did not include the "Fat Girls Give Better Blow Jobs" myth in her book. And that led to a discussion about how we fats get hypersexualized and desexualized at the exact same time. Hyper-fetishized and also meet people who will not be seen with us in the same breath. We got to have a discussion about Aubrey meeting Lindy West recently and we both agreed that Lindy is 100% absolutely without pretense and funny as hell. We discussed the FOREVER question about when and who should we engage with when it comes to "concern trolls" and other anti-fat jerks on the internet or out in the wild. Merf asks Aubrey how the podcast Maintenance Phase and her books have impacted Aburey's personal life. We have a bit of fun discussing ways we would TRULY like to "glorify obesity" if that were actually possible. Would we want free drinks? Free First Class upgrades on airlines. Cutsies in line at Disneyland? Aubrey feels COLD HARD CASH is the way to go with the perks of glorifying obesity. (Hopefully, you can read my sarcasm here. We need a sarcasm FONT!)Aubrey enlightens us about why she prefers the term 'anti-fat' over 'fatphobia.'I ask Aubrey (and Merf) if they have any pithy replies when faced with anti-fatness out in the wild. (People with actually diagnosed phobias already have enough stigma to deal with.) We have a meaningful discussion about HOW WE CAN AFFECT change and not just bitch about the B.M.I.
How to raise kids that are not fat-phobic assholes. Thanks to Jen McLellan, the founder of Plus Mommy, PlusBirth.com, and the creator of Plus Mommy Podcast for her amazing interview.Asherlee stepped in to help me interview Jen while Merf was off having a few fun days in Atascadero. Thanks, Adherlee. We discussed so many topics about getting competent health care for your kids. Jen and Asherlee give some really great advice for dealing with your kids' healthcare providers. We also discuss the new (garbage) AAP guidelines and what trash they are. We asked Jen how she handles the grandparents and aunties/uncles to NOT fat shame and NOT talk about bodies of any size. #boundariesaresexyHow does Jen handle it when her son asks about her fat body and so much more.Jen feels there is some hope for younger doctors that are just coming out of medical school. She talks with and interviews them and she does see a glimmer of hope with the new doctors who want to offer health care to marginalized communities, empathic health care to people in fat bodies, Jen got to interview Mary Lambert here>> https://plusmommy.com/mary-lambert/Here is a link to Mary Lambert's 4-week babe camp:https://everybodyisababe.teachable.com/Mary's Weight Neutral Provider Spreadsheet. So, please do not expect us to be able to do all the stuff you see in porn right off the bat. Linnea answers WHERE to start with sex toys if you are new to them.We discuss sex toys for rad fat babes. She gives great tips. Linnea really loves the NOVA2 by WeVibe. For a more affordable option, she loves the Satisfyer 2 because of the long handle, air suction system, and vibration. We discussed how if your partner is anxious around sex toys, remind them that the toy is a team member. NOT competition. We also discuss the Liberator pillows and furniture. They have a line for babes of size and they REALLY hold up to larger bodies. Season 2 - We are very excited to publish our first podcast of 2023. Full of fat and Sassy information and opinions. The first half, Merf and I interview each other so you all can get to know us better. I definitely learned lots of new stuff about Merf! She learned I do not drink coffee! Blasphemy, I know.We rage, I mean discuss, the b.s. going on with Ozempic and Wegovy. (Celebrities using it for vanity purposes and leaving diabetics to have to figure out how to get meds they need for living.)We also rage about the American Academy of Pediatrics suggesting diet drugs for kids between 2 and 13. Weight loss surgery for kids 13 and higher. We are both grossed out about the harm they are going to cause. Kids need unconditional love, not to be body shamed. Then we launch into our listener email. The author is 50 and wants dating while fat advice. Asherlee, our editor, mentioned there is an app for people of size that are dating. It's called Woo Plus.At the end, Merf tells us all about an $85 toy she really does not like!Support the showBigSexyChat.com appreciates you and your community. Hey friends:This is our year-in-review podcast. Merf, Asherlee, and I talk about our HIGHLIGHTS of the COOL things that happened to various rad fatties in the world. Merf also prepared a "round robin" style set of questions that we all answered. She asked us our favorite episodes, our favorite guests, and new topics for 2023.I shared my PIE IN THE SKY list of my "dream" guests:Bridget Everett (Here is a link to Bridget's website.) http://www.bridgeteverett.net/And, here is the link to Bridget's show. For me, it's such a HIGHLIGHT because her character (loosely based on her life in Lawrence, KS) just exists in a fat body. The show is not about her being fat. Her character does not hold back in any way. She LIVES a fully realized life without much attention paid to her body size. HALLELUJAH!The others on my list are Lizzo, Linnea (sex toys and fat bodies), Lizzy, Melissa McCarthy, Jack Black, Fat Joe, and Asherlee suggested Jana Schieding from Rutherford Falls. (I need to watch this show a.s.a.p.) I've heard and read they have very diverse characters including queer peeps and possibly someone who is non-binary. HOORAY for representation, Oh and I believe most of the characters are Indigenous, I am excited to watch. In 2023 we want to have experts come on and educate us about P.C.O.S., Tigress and NAAFA to talk about their legislation goals and ways to make fat people a protected class like we are in San Francisco and a few other places in the U.S. We definitely need to get a sample of the Balldo so we can show it on our Big Sexy Chat YouTube channel. We are definitely going to get Sydney and Asherlee back on to discuss polyamory. The first episode about polyamory was fantastic and we are so grateful to Sydney for allowing us to interview her about it.We have so much to be grateful for. We have almost 17K downloads since our first episode on Feb. 14th. So much love and support from our fat community. Thanks a million. I am super grateful for Merf, Asherlee, Sydney, and Kadie. We have an amazing team. Big ups to all of the guests who were on this year. Thank you for making our podcast so interesting and fat positive. We discuss selling socks and undies and Merf tells us about her days selling very fragrant undergarments! Why do people hire sex workers? Is it because they want someone to do stuff they do not want to ask their partner to do? (Like out of too much "respect" for the mother of their children?) There are likely 1,000,000 reasons why, honestly. When can we normalize, legalize, and even monetize (taxes - BLECK) sex work? It is the oldest profession on the planet. Why are we not discussing this in our culture?Sex surrogates and other sex workers can be very helpful for people who have disabilities. They can also be helpful for people who are too shy to go out and date, so it can be easier to hire a person. Make it more transactional.Even celebrities hire sex workers.
