In a down-to-the-wire KCBS Team of the Year battle, Jordan Kirkpatrick and Janky Leg BBQ came through in clutch fashion. Needing a Grand Championship on the season's final weekend to leapfrog Brad Leighninger and Gettin' Basted, that's exactly what Janky Leg accomplished on Day 1 of Boo-B-Que in Oak Grove, Missouri. Adding an RGC on Day 2, Jordan came away with his first Team of the Year and denied Gettin' Basted an unprecedented fourth. We talk it over with Jordan on Episode 236 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast and find out his thoughts on the stress of a title chase, future BBQ plans and who exactly is “Teen Wolf” and his role in Janky Leg's success. We also welcome Chase Willard, a former Tailgate Guys BBQ Show “Under the Radar” subject to discuss his first career KCBS Grand Championship, which came on Day 2 of Boo-B-Que. Chase breaks down his winning cook in the cold and windy conditions and recaps his road to a GC in a relatively short time period since jumping into competition BBQ.  Meanwhile, Lyndal touches on the Tailgate Guys BBQ team's clunker at Boo-B-Que and co-host Steve tells us what's been cooking on his backyard deck.  Thanks to all our sponsors and marketing partners for making the show possible:  Blues Hog #blueshognation Royal Oak Charcoal #teamroyaloak2023 The Butcher Shoppe #alwayshandpicked  Clark Crew BBQ #clarkcrewbbq  Proud Souls BBQ Kansas City #proudsoulsbbqkc #kingdomofq  The Grill Guys of Missouri Allquedup #arkassippicombo Vietti Marketing Group #marketing  Marty "Real Sign Man" Prather #pizza Have a great BBQ week and thanks for listening! #SmokeEmIfYouGotEm

BBQ Championship in Kansas City. The Bandits also receive naming rights, branding and the opportunity to create their own menu and market their own line of sauces and rubs at the BBQ restaurant inside the new Kansas City International Airport terminal in 2024. Josh and Ashton talk about their BBQ journey and how they've reached this possible life-changing opportunity. This week is different. Head coach Lyndal Scranton and family cooked up a storm at their hometown Ozarks BBQ Fest, with 180 first-place Pork, 5th-place Brisket and 7th-place Ribs. Jaime thinks the Cowboys are still them boys even though they have an embarrassing loss to the Jags.    The performance was under whelming but he gets bailed out by the Cleveland defense.  Mandy Rose gets fired from wrestling for having a fans page with some not so PG content.  Jaime burst Hiram's bubble with his fact checks on Steph Curry.  10:00 minBBQ time: We bring back our backyard family cookoff.  We hadn't been able to do this since before Covid.  Surprisingly everything went well and the weather cooperated nicely after raining all night before.  We talk about the two main entries which were fajitas and chef choice.  The fajita entries all went well as it was very close to call a winner.  The chef choice had an array of interesting turn ins as people got pretty creative.  I take a long shot and turn in a shrimp dish not knowing that one of the judges doesn't eat shrimp so, Joe Tip think about something that all the judges will at least try.  Congrats to my brother Eric for coming away as the grand champion this year.  20:00 Nick comes down to visit from Austin to go on a hunting trip.   Takes him quite a few shots but he manages to put one down.  He then tells us about how he plans to have it processed and different ways to prepare dear meat.  Evee also shares some different preparations from her experience.  We then go off the rails a bit and bring back Rocky Mountain oysters into the conversation once again.  The room is divided on who would actually try such oysters.  We then talk a little bit about chain steakhouses.30:00 min We talk about the upcoming winter freeze and the reactions in the RGV and Austin.  We then talk some more barbecue and have Nick, Evee and Hiram talk about how they barbecue.  We close out by talking about what we are having for Christmas dinner and any traditions our family might have.  A bunch of joes that cook like pros!!!Law Office of Hector Hernandezhttp://hhernandezlaw.com/?fbclid=IwAR3kaG_wQzrsUJ-cVxJLUyjvipMPM1R59xo9YMKFFsiGHaaUgdZ8hd8cB7YWebsite/Shop https://www.readysetbbq.com/Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/readysetbbq
