BIRRIA TACOSDahianna | @_cookingwitdServes 6It was the Instagram post heard 'round the world in 2018, when an L.A. influencer posted a picture of his dinner from a neighborhood quesabirria taco truck. Almost instantly, influencers were scouring their own 'hoods for birria tacos, clamoring for that perfect shot of glistening, griddled tacos being dunked into Styrofoam cups full of dark pools of chile-infused goodness. Talk about gussying up #tacotuesday. Demand skyrocketed, with influencers piquing our interest for a dish that, prior to 2018, was barely known to most outside of Mexico. Birria tacos started popping up on Mexican restaurant menus across the country, and food bloggers began posting recipes for DIY tacos and Frankenfoods like birria ramen. This recipe slow simmers dried guajillo, ancho, and arbol chiles with garlic, onion, oregano, and cumin to out-birria the rest.HASHTAG PAIRING: #birriatacos #tacotime #whenidipyoudip #tacoboutawesome #birriaiswhyimbrokePHOTO TIP: With brownish foods like tacos, add pops of color with onion, cilantro, and lime 2 pounds boneless beef chuck roast6 cloves garlic5 dried guajillo chiles, stems and seeds removed5 dried chiles de arbol, stems and seeds removed4 dried ancho chiles, stems and seeds removed4 bay leaves½ medium white onion½ carrot1 tablespoon beef or chicken broth1 tablespoon dried oregano1 tablespoon ground cumin1½ teaspoons sugar1 teaspoon kosher salt12 yellow corn tortillas3 cups grated Chihuahua, Oaxaca, or Monterey Jack cheeseChopped white onion, chopped cilantro, and lime wedges for servingIn a large pot or Dutch oven, combine the beef, garlic, chiles, bay leaves, onion, carrot, and 6 cups of water. Dip a corn tortilla halfway into the broth in thepot. Place on the griddle and top with ¼ cup cheese and about½ cup shredded meat. Off the court, she is a passionate advocate for women's sports empowerment and youth development, inspiring the next generation of athletes to reach for their dreams. Life is short, spend it with tall & beautiful people ;-) As you can see from photos, I am no longer an average height, but rather short! ;-)) Azania's 3 mindset messages: Sharing stories and life experiences are key to life The power of knowing your strengths and bringing them to the table Connect the food and the journey. Food Azania picked such a fun dish: tacos with guacamole chips and a margarita cocktail on the side. Tacos offer endless possibilities, so I wanted to make something a bit special. I decided on two kinds of beef tacos, also known as Birria tacos. Traditionally, they're made with meat that's slowly braised in a flavourful chilli sauce (I slow cooked the meat for over 5 hours the night before). Since the sauce can be quite spicy, I chose to tone it down and skipped a few of the hotter chilies in the recipe. visit www.mindsetkitchen.co.uk for full recipe.

To start, I spoke with the immensely impressive Rhys Powell, who transitioned from Wall Street to Founding Red Rabbit. Red Rabbit is leading the way to provide meals which represents more culturally diverse cuisines so all students can enjoy a lunch that reflects what they would partake of at home. These meals and menus are curated by professional chefs who live and grew up within the same culture and heritage of the surrounding communities, and those meals are provided through Red Rabbit's lunch programs which are currently being offered within the Tri-State region, with plans to continue to expand. So, what does that mean to you? Tune in to find out, and share with anyone you know who is a teacher, parent, or advocate for nutritional meals for children in schools.Speaking of schools and food...my next guest, Zach Poznan, was formerly the math teacher at Conwell Middle School in Kensington. The math teacher-turned-baker began his path to owning Brass Monkey Bread Co. during the pandemic, and after several mishaps and a fellow friend/sourdough enthusiast asked for help--Zach came to his friend's rescue while re-igniting his desire to try something new. Armed with more knowledge on how to make sourdough (and their starters), Zach raised the bar to become a sourdough aficionado. Today, Zach has since transitioned into working as the full-time owner and head baker for Brass Monkey Bread Co, and is excited to join us and share where we can carb-load when he vends at various locations throughout the year.Lastly, we spoke with what I consider as one of the best comfort foods around. TuckedIto (pronounced, Tuck-dee-too) is owned by brothers Brendan and James Pinder, and offers several meat-based taquitos and tacos. We discussed their various options on what they offer, what their personal favorite tacos are, and the in's and out's of owning your own business. Its a lot to take in, but trust the process...and trust me...they offer tempting descriptions from their menu, as well as an abundance of advice that you may not get from anyone else in the business.

Alvaro Ontiveros is an immigrant from Mexico who first came over to spend time with his friends. During the pandemic in 2020 Alvaro started Birria Master when he lost his job in the tea industry. He started in Ave 26 with his own version of birria tacos and then soon made his way back to Pasadena as a taco truck. Before his taco business took off, Alvaro had spent his working time in the restaurant industry, eventually ending up specifically inside the corporate tea industry for over a decade. During his journey before Birria Master Alvaro experienced every facet of working in a restaurant, from being a dishwasher, busing, serving, cooking and then managing, Alvaro leaned all the skills needed to run his own business (having a business degree also helped).Today, Alvaro's venture, Birria Master, has blossomed into one of the SGV's premier spots for birria.Instagram: @birriamasterLocation: 180 S Rosemead Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107___________________Music CreditsIntroLike it Loud, Dyalla, YouTube Audio LibraryStingerScarlet Fire (Sting), Otis McDonald, YouTube Audio LibraryOutroIndecision, Dyalla, YouTube Audio Library__________________My SGV Podcast:www.mysgv.netinfo@sgvmasterkey.com

In S3Ep14 of the PRP, Adam chops it up with blossoming distance runner, hobby photographer extraordinaire, sophisticated fashionmonger and proud father, Aaron Barfield who has been preparing for the Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon on Sunday October 15th, 2023. Candice Whitfield, retired running phenom, ardent mental health advocate, swagtastic mama bear and Aaron's better half joins the show to offer her take on all things Ypsilanti, the family and of course Aaron's obsession with running. Aaron and Candice provide a look into their quaint life style as intimate partners, best friends, and most importantly, parents. Although having children together at such a young age presented them with a number of challenges both independently and as a team, they live life with no regrets and are thankful each day for the family and life that they have built with one another. From getting the boys to school on time, to spending QT with their extended families, to lampin with the homies, the two humbly admit they are livin' good. Things get vulnerable when Aaron discusses his relationship with the sport and provides insight into how he checks himself before he wrecks himself. As someone with only a couple years of disciplined training under his belt, Aaron offers some insight that is wise beyond his years surrounding cultivating a healthy relationship with running. Challenge yourself, set big goals, and pursue said goals with tenacity; but don't get too caught up in the destination and lose sight of the journey that is your day to day experience. Memo Torres namechecks a dozen must-try tacos in Van Nuys. Susan Jung pays homage to fried chicken across East and Southeast Asia. In this weeks amplified episode of Rags To Dishes: John Kirk, Masa Taqueria founder and providence chef comes on the show to discuss a whole 2 hours worth of bullshit with our dearest hosts. The crew talks Ogies Trailer Park, and how the toxicity of late night service industry work can result in bad choices and mental heath in the somewhat beautifully disgusting culture of bars. Dcot and John nerd out about Marijuana for a good sec as Masa's business kind of started out as an edible company in a loft apartment in providence. Cottage law, as well as more arguing about tipping and how to topple capitalism and fix the industry ensues with other hot takes such as public lynching of billionaires and Dune Brothers having the best fries and hot dogs in the state. Tune in for a long one and a good one....
