Fourteen years after a statue of AmaZulu King Shaka was removed from Durban's King Shaka International airport, a new R4.5 million likeness was unveiled on THURSDAY. The previous statue had to be removed from display after the Zulu royal family expressed dissatisfaction with the way in which the late King was portrayed. They felt the statue reduced King Shaka to a "herd boy" rather than the warrior leader and founder of the AmaZulu nation. Unveiling the statue, President Cyril Ramaphosa hailed it as a symbol of unity, integrity and leadership for all South Africans. To find out if the new statue hits the right notes Bongiwe Zwane spoke to Professor Gugu Mazibuko, from the department of African Languages at the University of Johannesburg

Hi, Strawberry Letter fans! We're excited for the launch of the Dominant Stories podcast hosted by culture expert Jess Weiner. It's a brand new show from Shondaland and iHeartRadio and we think you'll enjoy it too. Don't just take our word for it, though. Check out the trailer and decide for yourself! About the podcast: Dominant Stories is a conversation series that reclaims and rewrites the stories we've been told about our bodies, our beauty, our creativity, and our identities. For example, does your inner monologue sound like: “I'm not good enough, pretty enough, or thin enough”? How about: “I can't do that” or “I'm not worthy”? These are what Cultural Expert and host Jess Weiner calls our Dominant Stories - the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves (whether they are true or not). This show has stemmed from Jess' personal and professional mission to help people challenge the external (and internal) voices that are holding them back from living the life they desire and deserve. Through witty, curious, and hopeful conversations with celebrated guests, we'll unpack, challenge, and change these Dominant Stories. Listen and subscribe to Dominant Stories with Jess Weiner on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts! Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Discussion: Why is same sex marriage important? Are same sex marriages different from heterosexual marriages when it comes to procreation? What do you have to say to religious people that are against homosexuality? Why do you feel that only people who identify as LGBTQ have to follow the biblical law and heterosexuals can modify it to their liking? What advice do you want to offer same sex marriage couples? We discuss why validation and marriage is important, why marriage rights are different for the LGBTQ community, how same-sex marriages have been viewed over time, logistical hurdles when marrying, marrying for love and more. Our special guest for this episode, who is part of the LGBTQ community, is Cultural Expert, Collincia Rouse. Discussion: How do you feel about marriage? Do you feel that marriage is necessary?
