Spring Renewal season: part 1 of 3... Today marks the end of Easter weekend, and here in the UK we have a bank holiday (a national holiday), making this a lovely, long 4-day weekend. It's a time for many who celebrate to spend time together, enjoy Easter eggs and over-indulge in chocolate. But it could also an opportunity to escape the food and drink, and dedicate some time for your learning and growth that could lead to accelerating your career opportunities in the coming weeks and months. As I pause, reflect and readjust after my close family bereavement, I am resharing these popular past episodes, and I will be back next week with new podcast episodes, topics and guests. This week we re-look at ‘When they don't listen to you'. When people don't listen to you, it can be frustrating, especially when you have valuable ideas. You can improve this situation by identifying the reasons why you're not being heard. This episode provides strategies to ensure you are fully recognised for your contributions by helping you understand how to handle other dominating voices in meetings and ensure your opinions are acknowledged. Spring Renewal season: part 2 of 3... As the seasons move into a new phase, this presents an opportune moment to take stock, refresh and rejuvenate our perspectives. Spring is blooming fully here in the UK, and I invite you to start this new season embracing renewed energy, revisiting past ideas with a fresh outlook or recommitting to your growth. It's a great time to recommit and plan the intentional actions you need to take towards your goals, ensuring that your leadership communication is as clear and impactful as it can be throughout April. As I pause, reflect and readjust after my father's passing, I am resharing these popular past episodes, and I will be back soon with new podcast episodes, topics and guests. This week we re-look at ‘Creating connection in your global team'. This episode discusses the importance of building connections within global multicultural teams. This can be your superpower that fosters trust, engagement, and better relationships. While technological advancements have made connection easier, achieving true human connection is challenging in hybrid and remote work settings. Spring Renewal season: part 1 of 3... Spring here in the UK has been glorious this year and is a great time to think about exciting new beginnings, but I have to be honest I have been thinking about death and endings a lot recently. I've been offline from here and taking some time away from the podcast following my dad's passing. As I pause, reflect and readjust, I am resharing these popular past episodes for the next 3 weeks, and I will be back soon with new podcast episodes, topics and guests. I invite you to take this moment to refresh and rejuvenate your perspectives on global leader communication. Start the new season and get inspired, whether revisiting past ideas with a fresh outlook, or embarking on new learning and growth. This week we re-look at 'How to have good conversations at work'. Collaboration tools enhance productivity, but as meetings become shorter, opportunities for genuine connection decrease. Conversations are vital for personal well-being, fostering a sense of belonging, improving mood, and boosting career growth—especially in cross-functional and multicultural work environments. They also strengthen teams by building trust, morale, and offering fresh perspectives. With remote and hybrid work on the rise, social well-being is more crucial than ever, yet the art of conversation is fading. Creating meaningful dialogue is a valuable skill that can bring moments of joy and connection. In today's episode, we explore how to have better conversations through listening, curiosity, reciprocity, and observation. Let's embrace the spirit of Connection January, not dwell on Blue Monday. Today is Blue Monday, apparently ‘the most difficult day of the year', the day in the northern hemisphere when it's still dark, cold and people tend to feel low. I know this time of year is a challenge for some people, and yet it's not only about 1 day- we can all have our good days and bad days, on any day of the year. Feeling low can happen to any of us at any time, and that's important to talk about. So rather than focus on Blue Monday, I want today to start Connection January. Let's make it the day we talk about possibilities, reach out for conversations, connect with people we've been meaning to, and bring us closer together. Connection is one of my core values, and I am so lucky and grateful that I get to connect with my clients all over the world and this includes recently in France, the US, Sweden, Germany and Spain. Plus I am lucky to connect with many of you here, through my networks and communities, virtually and in real life. Today we celebrate connection and explore why we need it in the workplace today more than ever. I share my insights on how to move beyond transactional communication by being intentional with our conversations and how to create space for genuine dialogue, even in fast-paced environments. Connection is part of our essential human skills, and is not an optional soft skill. What you will learn in this episode: Why I want to create Connection January on this Blue Monday Collaboration tools are not the same as connection Invest in your relationships How to create space for conversations in busy schedules Set an intention to create connection Be more curious Listening more and ask more questions Reframe soft skills as essential human skills Resources: Listen to Ep.084 'Walk and Talk- a catalyst for conversation and connection with Lisa Partridge': https://culturecuppa.com/podcasts/walk-and-talk-a-catalyst-for-conversation-and-connection-with-lisa-partridge/ Learn more about my Global Leader Communication programme: https://culturecuppa.com/individuals/ Sign up to receive future episodes of the podcast as soon as they are released: https://culturecuppa.com/get-free-insights Follow me on LinkedIn for more strategies, skills and tips: https://www.linkedin.com/in/victoria-rennoldson Email me: victoria@culturecuppa.com Website: https://culturecuppa.com

Happy International Podcast Day! This has been an exciting few weeks celebrating my 100th episode, sharing the recent podcast mini-series about global leadership communication, and launching a new live training, Become a Global Leader. And to end the celebrations, I decided to create a very different episode for you today. Rather than me or a guest expert sharing their ideas, strategies and tips, I asked you what you wanted to know about improving your leadership communication, speaking like a leader and developing your cultural intelligence. I received many great questions and I chose this fantastic one from Lynne in Japan as this is something I am often asked about: What are the key ingredients to achieving success across cultures? What you will learn in this episode: The human connection factor It starts with us- how culture shapes who we are, what we believe and what's the right way to do things. Understand your behavioural preferences and how they influence your motivations and drivers for communication and interaction. Look with fresh eyes. Press the pause button. Get curious and ask questions. See similarities and differences, not ‘right' and ‘wrong'. Go deeper than awareness with cultural intelligence. CQ Strategy: plan what you will do differently. CQ Action: choose where you will adapt to create the connection. If you missed the free live training last week, Become a Global Leader, message me on LinkedIn with the word ‘Become' and I'll send the replay to you- it's available until 4th October 2024 only.
