Netflix Sports host Elle Duncan joins Bleav in Rams to preview Rams-49ers in Australia and break down the biggest question surrounding the matchup: which team will handle the massive time change better? Duncan explains why the Rams are taking a “hit it and quit it” approach while the 49ers are giving themselves more time to acclimate, and why hydration, recovery, and the trip home could matter just as much as kickoff. Elle Duncan is back on the show, and this week, we're prepping for her upcoming trip to Melbourne, Australia, for Week 1 of the NFL season. Elle will be leading Netflix's broadcast of the matchup between the LA Rams and San Francisco 49ers, which is the first regular-season NFL game ever to be played in Australia. Then, we're sitting down with Mary Cain. In her prime, she was one of the fastest girls in the country. She signed to run professionally with Nike before she even graduated high school. Mary's future in the sport looked bright — that is, until 2016, when she suddenly quit. But Mary didn't just lose interest in running. She says she experienced abuse by her coaching staff at Nike, and that they ignored her pleas for help when her mental health declined. She went on to sue Nike and came out with a memoir about her experience called “This is Not About Running.” Content warning: This episode discusses emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, as well as extreme weight loss practices, self-harm, and thoughts of suicide. This week, Elle Duncan joins us to talk about the culture wars engulfing the WNBA, and how political noise is obscuring amazing play on the court. We'll also discuss the startup energy around Netflix's live sports coverage, as well as the nostalgia of baseball's Field of Dreams game. Then we'll sit down with the man who's making sports talk feel like equal parts newsroom, comedy club and family dinner. Dan Le Batard is the co-founder of Meadowlark Media, the company behind award-winning shows like Pablo Torre Finds Out. A longtime sports journalist and broadcaster, he's built a career around bringing curiosity, humor and humanity to sports. We'll talk about why he founded Meadowlark, how loss has shaped his drive to keep going, and why sports make us act in strange ways.Show Notes Like What You Heard? Bomani Jones is joined by Elle Duncan for a new episode of The Right Time to discuss the current state of sports media, the WNBA, and why online discourse so often overshadows the games themselves. They start by talking about Elle's move to Netflix Sports, the challenges of producing daily sports television, and why the slowest parts of the sports calendar always seem to revolve around the same headlines. Later, Bo and Elle celebrate the emergence of young WNBA stars like Olivia Miles, explain why A'ja Wilson continues to redefine greatness, and discuss how the league's rapid growth has changed the way fans engage with women's basketball. They also examine the media narratives surrounding Caitlin Clark, the political debates sparked by Sophie Cunningham's comments on transgender athletes, and why so many conversations about the WNBA drift away from basketball. The two also weigh in on the reaction to Monica McNutt's viral pedicure appearance, reflect on how remote television has evolved since the pandemic, and close with stories about competitive family game nights, recreational sports, and the perspective that comes with success, wealth, and getting older. Along the way, Bo and Elle share plenty of laughs, personal stories, and thoughtful conversations about sports and culture. . . . Motherhood can be messy, demanding and downright exhausting, especially when you're trying to balance family, work and everything else life throws your way. But here's the thing: moms are a whole lot tougher than we sometimes give ourselves credit for.In this episode of The Paige Kornblue Show, I sit down with ESPN play-by-play announcer Jenn Hildreth and FOX Sports Senior Vice President of Talent Relations Aimee Leone for an honest, funny and reassuring conversation inspired by their book, Tough as a Mother.Jenn and Aimee interviewed dozens of accomplished women—including Olympians, broadcasters, athletes, coaches and executives—and discovered that behind the medals, television cameras and impressive careers are many of the same struggles mothers everywhere know well: mom guilt, impossible schedules, missed moments, asking for help and wondering if we're doing enough. We talk about why we need to "mother out loud," embrace the messiness, let go of the Superwoman expectation and remember that two things can be true at once: we can love our careers and miss our children. We can be grateful and overwhelmed. We can be strong and still need help. This conversation is also a special full-circle moment for me. I interned for Aimee at NBC Sports when I was in college. All these years later, we reflect on what I didn't fully understand back then about the working mother I watched lead with strength, kindness and grace. From soccer legend and Olympian Alex Morgan on the impossible expectations placed on moms to ESPN broadcasters Elle Duncan and Laura Rutledge on letting go of mom guilt, this episode is filled with honest stories, perspective and reminders for those days when motherhood feels like a lot.Because being tough doesn't mean doing everything perfectly.Sometimes it simply means remembering: you've got this, and you're not alone.https://www.toughasamotherbook.com/abouthttps://www.paigekornblue.com/

Elle Duncan has heard your criticism of Netflix’s MLB Opening Day Coverage. And as the streamer’s first sports anchor, she has something to say about it. In this episode of The Deal, Elle explains to Alex and Jason that there is a difference between constructive criticism and saying something is “too Netflix” and there’s a balance between "eventizing" sports and covering them. She also shares why she left ESPN after a decade and what it’s like to be on a desk with the notoriously anti-media Barry Bonds. Then, Elle talks about her other new role hosting USA Network’s 2026 WNBA coverage and why the growth of women’s sports depends on investing in coverage and giving ourselves permission to admit that some players are just better than others You can also watch this interview on the Bloomberg Podcasts YouTube page.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

There is a stark contrast between how Cooper Flagg is being welcomed to the NBA versus how Caitlin Clark was welcomed last year. It seems that the WNBA has a problem with great white players, unlike the NBA. Also, Steve Kim joins a show to talk about Aaron Rodgers announcing this might be his last season, ESPN's female-led Disney Plus show “Vibe Check” with Elle Duncan, Andraya Carter, Monica McNutt, and Hannah Storm, and Cam Jordan wants to bring taunting back to the NFL. On today's episode of The Right Time, Elle Duncan of ESPN joins Bomani Jones to discuss The New York Knicks' collapse and the ongoing WNBA drama. The show starts with Elle describing the events she witnessed at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night by saying why she won't make fun of Knicks fans (3:14) and that every A-lister was at this game (4:35). Bo explains why he wished the Knicks won the game in overtime (5:53) and loves that Tyrese Haliburton has become a villain in New York (12:12). They switch gears to the WNBA where Bo and Elle agree that it's ok for Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark to not like each other (15:49) and that this discourse prevents the league from making any positive strides (21:34). Bo states that Caitlin Clark is a Tiger Woods-like phenomenon but the WNBA is not capitalizing on it (24:39). They transition to the news that flag football will now be an Olympic sport in 2028 (36:58), which has Bo and Elle questioning if we're really going to see Justin Jefferson vs Team Japan (40:10)? To wrap up the show, Bo and Elle have fun discussing the time she covered the Atlanta Hawks. (48:05) . . .
