Is AI Really 'Woke' or Extremist?Debates are heating up over whether AI systems lean 'woke' or extremist. Some argue AI spreads radical views, while others claim it enforces political correctness. The truth? AI mirrors the biases in its training data. To keep AI neutral, it's crucial to use diverse, balanced datasets and ongoing human oversight. AI 'Lawyer' Gets Benched in NY CourtroomIn a wild courtroom twist, Jerome Dewald, repping himself in an employment beef, rolled in with an AI-generated avatar to argue his case. The judges? Not amused. They shut it down fast, calling out the lack of heads-up. Dewald said he was just trying to avoid public speaking jitters, but the court wasn't having it.AI-Generated Fake Job Seekers Are Flooding the Job MarketScammers are now using AI to create fake job applicants, complete with fabricated resumes and deepfake video interviews, to land remote positions. In this week's episode, Aaron and Kevin are joined by guest Alex Dewald. Alex has been a member of Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton, MI for basically his entire life from the time he was adopted at age 3 from Russia. Alex shares his story of growing up in the church, but how he fell away from active engagement with his church community and his faith, replacing that with a pursuit of the things in this world. He had a moment where he sensed God calling out to him to return, and from there, he followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and got involved in a discipleship relationship with Pastor Kevin which has drastically changed his life and walk with Jesus. As always, this is a faith-filled conversation which we hope will inspire you to go and start another conversation about Jesus with someone else. We hope you enjoy it!

Enterprise Connect Podcast | Technology Reseller News “You don't have to be a voice expert anymore — we've made UCaaS and CPaaS accessible for developers.” – Jim DeWald, CRO, White Label Communications In a space where voice integration can be daunting, White Label Communications is changing the narrative — offering enterprises, SaaS providers, and ISVs a new way to bring UCaaS and CPaaS capabilities into their applications without deep telephony expertise. At Enterprise Connect 2025, White Label CRO Jim DeWald and Head of Partnerships Zachary Konopka joined Technology Reseller News publisher Doug Green to share how their company is evolving its long-standing white-label platform to support enterprise-grade, developer-friendly integrations. From Turnkey UCaaS to DIY Integration Traditionally known for enabling MSPs and resellers to offer UCaaS under their own brand, White Label Communications has now exposed the full range of its UCaaS and messaging capabilities via API and webhooks. This move empowers developers and enterprise teams to embed voice, messaging, and multichannel communication directly into their own applications — creating personalized workflows and enhancing customer engagement. “We used to deliver a turnkey UCaaS business in a box,” said DeWald. “Now, we're offering a DIY model where enterprises can build their own integrations — with our platform as the foundation.” Why CPaaS Matters More Than Ever CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service) is no longer optional — it's the backbone of how businesses engage customers. From appointment reminders and one-time passcodes to SMS billing alerts and chatbot interactions, CPaaS enables businesses to meet users on the channels they prefer. “Whether it's voice, text, email, or chat — we give organizations a single API that connects them to 8 or 9 channels,” said Konopka. “And with automatic failover, your message still gets through, whether the end-user is on RCS, SMS, or even email.” Bringing Enterprise-Grade Capabilities to the Channel While White Label doesn't sell directly to end users, its platform enables service providers to deliver modern, integrated communication services to enterprises — often with development times measured in days, not months. “Our clients know their end customers better than anyone,” noted DeWald. “We just give them the tools to make their offerings more sticky, more valuable, and more resilient.” From UCaaS to CPaaS and Beyond With an emphasis on modularity, ease of use, and integration speed, White Label's platform lowers the barrier to entry for voice and messaging development. Whether it's a self-storage company enabling SMS billing, or a SaaS platform adding omnichannel support, the company's white-label model lets partners maintain their brand while delivering high-impact communication features. Learn more at www.whitelabelcom.com. White Label Communications will also be attending Channel Partners in Las Vegas.

One of the existential challenges remaining in payments is the need to accurately authorize transactions conducted online. While markets like the EU, UK and India have mandated strong customer authentication for online transactions, the U.S. is the largest market where such stepped-up authentication remains optional. Only a very small portion of eCommerce purchases utilize the 3-D Secure protocol due to lingering concerns about imposing friction and delay on a consumer base that thrives on convenience and fully understands its chargeback rights. The Payments Performance team at Stripe recently published a blog post noting that in their controlled testing of 3-D Secure, the impact on approval rates was negative compared to running similar transactions without additional authentication. We were surprised by those results and wondered what the card issuing community would make of that counter-intuitive finding. In this episode of Payments on Fire, we decided to get both sides of the story from two good friends of Glenbrook. Amandeep Batra from Stripe joined us to provide the merchant perspective; Dewald Nolte of Entersekt, a leader provider of 3-D Secure Access Control Server solutions joined us to offer the issuer perspective.

I had Terry DeWald on today. I've known Terry for over 30 years. He's a magnificent person and he's a dealer, but he's also an expert in Native American basketry and textiles, specifically Navajo. He's spent his entire life working with the Tohono O'Odham basket makers and knows them all very intimately and are a big part of his life.I've been trying to get him to come for a long time because he has so much to say. He knows so many people. He did so many interesting things, from being a professional baseball player to a teacher to again finding his way into the Native American art field. He's what we refer to as an Indian art trader. That's what all these guys were kind of referred to as in the early 70s, late 60s up until today. I've been trying to interview these individuals while they're here. Unfortunately we've lost a few, and we're going to lose a lot more. It's a subculture that's very unique in the whole of Americana. A group of non-Native individuals who dedicated their lives to Native American arts. Most of them work directly with different individuals, contemporary native artists, but also having this great love for historical material and really understanding it like very few can.So it was a real gem of a podcast. I think you'll really enjoy this one with Native American art expert Terry DeWald.

Do you remember "scoliosis check" during middle school? That embarrassing moment where, as a 12/13 year old, you had to do a shirtless forward fold in front of the school nurse?? MORTIFYING. Perhaps you never had to live through this torture. Or perhaps, even WORSE, you were told by said nurse that your screen was POSITIVE, and now your parents had to know! And they would have to *gasp* take you to the doctor to DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN! Nightmare! Well, thankfully we've come a long way since then! And today we have insights from TWO guests in the world of scoliosis to educate us! We invited our friend and colleague, Chris DeWald, MD, who between him and his father, have over 60 years of experience treating scoliosis patients. Dr. DeWald is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Rush University Medical Center, who specializes in spine deformity, and is legit one of the kindest people on the planet :) And to add a different dimension, we asked Lauren Higginson, the founder of Higgy Bears, and a scoliosis patient herself, to give her insights into living with this condition, the observations she has from her community and her thoughts on screening. You may be met with a twists and turns in life (or in your spine), either way we are here for you :) Thanks for tuning in, folks! Please sign up for our "PULSE CHECK" monthly newsletter! “So often in youth ministry, we think that it's our job to do ministry at young people. Sometimes we're doing youth ministry for them, but what we really encourage people to think about is how do we do ministry with them?” -Megan DeWald This week's guest is Megan DeWald, the director of the Institute for Youth Ministry at Princeton Theological Seminary. With two decades of experience, Megan highlights the gap between the calling of youth ministers and the overwhelming job descriptions they receive. She points out the mismatch between traditional job expectations, like organizing events, and the actual work needed to address today's youth challenges, such as mental health crises and political issues. The episode reveals the broken state of the current youth ministry system and stresses the importance of aligning the job with the critical work of caring for and guiding young people through their challenges. Megan discusses the added pressures on youth workers, including isolation and competition, emphasizing the need for a fundamental reevaluation of the youth ministry system to better serve ministers and the youth they aim to support. This episode is an invitation to a new imagination and innovation for what youth ministry can be today – and reminds us to pull up chairs for the youth that these churches hope to serve. Each episode, we ask our guest to call our attention to an organization that is doing good work. Megan highlights two projects: Log College Project is an 18-month program that brings the best of Princeton Theological Seminary to your region. We help Christian congregations design, test, and implement new models of ministry, with teenagers at the design table. Beaufolio Studios is a creative art house hosting collaborative workshops and consulting relationships, utilizing creativity and theological reflection to "create creators" at the intersections of sacred art, human-centered design, and restorative equity. We encourage you to check them out and support their work if you feel led.

Are you ready to shift your perspective on cybersecurity? We've got Dr. Karen Renaud, the general chair of Dewald Roode Workshop (DRW) this year and a renowned figure in information security research, to guide us on this fascinating journey. We'll be dissecting the paradigm-shifting presentations, lively debates and thought-provoking discussions from the workshop, with a special focus on Basie von Solms' revolutionary thoughts on the future of cybersecurity.Looking to understand why people often disregard security procedures? Or how personality traits can impact the security decisions we make? Our discussion reveals that cautiousness, morality, and self-consciousness can positively affect security decisions, but increasing security knowledge doesn't always correlate with safer decisions. EPISODE 149 DETAILS Let's Ranch it Up! There is a lot going on this time of year! Many producers are pulling bulls from pastures, a great management practice. But then what? Do you just turn them into another pasture? Our breeding bull battery has certain nutritional needs. Dr. Kelly Sanders, from Westway Feed Products joins the crew to visit about what groceries your bulls need this time of year and what we can look for when deciding should those bulls stay or should they go down the road. Let's be proactive versus reactive. Plus we have had some of you reach out for tips and tricks of weed control now that we are close to wrapping up summer, specifically noxious weeds. Could we turn those weeds into a cash crop? NDSU Extension Rangeland Management Specialist Dr. Kevin Sedivec helps to answer those questions. We have it all for you in this jam-packed episode of The Ranch It Up Radio Show! As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action not to miss, and cover the cattle markets. This week on Unpacked we chat with Kevin Castanheiro. Kevin is a former executive with Mexx Clothing, a world traveller, the current leader of an aquaculture ministry in Haiti, and our good friend. Plus sponsor of the Shoulder to Shoulder series! This week we take you through the remarkable story of Kevin, a gay man, and Evan, a long-time traditional pastor. Two people on the outside over 12 years ago met with seemingly opposing worldviews and find their lives changed by meeting at a funeral that leads to a journey of self-discovery and a unique friendship. Kevin shares his deeply personal story of coming out, navigating faith, the loss of his partner and how he came to be a part of a faith community where he experienced belonging. Meanwhile, a devout pastor, Evan opens up about his transformation, from holding traditional views to forming a friendship with Kevin. It's a story of friendship that transcends differences and prejudices, where they don't aim to change each other's minds, but instead, strive to share their hearts openly. We chat about their story of coming to understand in a deeper way how to have important conversations up close as opposed to making judgements at arm's length. Learn what it means to belong, create a safe place truly for all, how silence can be dangerous and how relationships and stories are transforming and clarifying. We discuss the history of Kevin and Evan meeting all the way up to the present day of leaving the church. Join us as we uncover hope and understanding, one heartfelt conversation at a time. The producers and co-creators of the Unpacked Podcast present a special series 10-part series Shoulder to Shoulder. What if you didn't have to be controlled by your stress response? GONE is the day when we settle for being stuck or letting stress take the lead. Who's with us?! The Enneagram is the best tool for growth! Knowing your type is the starting point to gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, learning others brings self-compassion BUT stress and rest lines will change your life. That's why this week's episode is Part 2 with Evan and Tara diving into every type's stress and rest lines and why learning where you go in stress is the starting place to transformation and the practical steps toward applying the enneagram. Ever wondered what the lines are?! This is it. Each number on the enneagram symbol has two lines attached to it. One of those lines shows where you are prone to go when growing (the other for when in stress). This growth line is often called a “growth line” or “line of integration”. Renata Poulton Kamakura reminds us of the importance of nearby nature and the power in community that orbits around urban ecology. Renata is a PhD student at Duke University's Clark Lab, a NatureNet science fellow, and a NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Renata's current work is mostly within the realm of urban ecology. They have authored and collaborated on published research focused on the pace of tree migration and invasion in tallgrass prairies. Also, tree fecundity related size and age as well as indirect climate effects. Long story short, I also know Renata because they have some insights on phenology, growth, mortality and local adaptation of Pacific madrone. I cherish their contribution to the body of thought about madrone as well as their efforts at applying emergent strategy and expanding the possibilities for healthier urban forests in community with our neighbors.
