Polish opera takes centre stage in this episode of Opera Road Trip. From Warsaw to Kraków, Gdańsk and Poznań, Sebastian F. Schwarz explores how Poland built one of Europe's most resilient and decentralised operatic ecosystems. Introduced at the royal court in the 17th century, opera became a powerful tool of national identity — especially during the 19th century partitions. Stanisław Moniuszko's Halka, Straszny dwór and Hrabina established a Polish operatic canon that still defines the repertoire today. In the 20th century, Karol Szymanowski's Król Roger reimagined Polish identity through myth and modernism, Krzysztof Penderecki expanded operatic sound into radical new territories, and Mieczysław Weinberg's Pasażerka confronted memory, exile and trauma. The episode features Boris Kudlička, General Director of the Polish National Opera; soprano Olga Pasychnik; and director Sir David Pountney, whose productions have helped bring Polish repertoire to international audiences via OperaVision. Poland emerges as a living operatic culture — balancing heritage, innovation and international collaboration across four centuries. Opera Road Trip is hosted by Sebastian F. Schwarz, whose curriculum as an opera manager includes positions at Theater an der Wien, Glyndebourne, Teatro Regio Torino, Festival della Valle d'Itria, Hamburgische Staatsoper and Wexford Festival Opera. He is Vice-President of the International Richard Strauss Society, member of the board of the European Musical Theatre Academy and co-founder of the Cesti Competition for Baroque Opera. Gal. 5,16-26 (16) Podkreślam natomiast: Żyjcie w Duchu, a na pewno pokonacie żądzę ciała. (17) Ciało bowiem pożąda przeciw Duchowi, a Duch przeciw ciału. (18) Jeśli jednak Duch was prowadzi, nie podlegacie Prawu. Nauczanie z dnia 8 lutego 2026

Episode Overview: In this episode, John Kitchens welcomes back powerhouse leader Brett Sikora for a deep, real-world conversation on intentional growth, leadership decisions, and scaling without chaos. Recorded nearly five years after Brett's first appearance during the height of COVID lockdowns, this conversation reflects on the pivotal moments that shaped his brokerage's evolution—from doubling down during uncertainty to building one of the most stable, scalable, and culture-driven organizations in the country. Brett breaks down how real growth doesn't come from chasing shiny objects or expanding out of ego, but from clarity around avatar, disciplined recruiting, financial visibility, and relentless focus on developing leaders who create leaders. If you're a team leader, broker-owner, or agent thinking about growth, mergers, or expansion, this episode delivers hard-earned lessons you can apply immediately. Key Topics Covered Growing Through Uncertainty How Brett leaned into opportunity during COVID instead of playing defense Identifying the right buyers and agents when the market feels unstable Why growth during hard times creates long-term leverage Intentional vs. Accidental Team Growth Why most teams grow by accident—and why that kills profitability The dangers of recruiting without a clear avatar How Brett filters agents before they ever join the organization Recruiting With Standards Why part-time and misaligned agents drain leadership energy The numbers behind effective recruiting conversations How saying "no" protects culture, profitability, and leadership focus Leadership, Coaching & One-on-Ones Why systems don't replace leadership The real power of one-on-one coaching conversations Shifting from leading agents to developing leaders who create leaders Profitability & Financial Clarity Understanding P&Ls before scaling or merging The hidden costs inside team growth Why knowing your numbers is non-negotiable for CEOs Expansion: When It Works—and When It Doesn't The mistakes Brett made expanding too early Why most expansions lose money before they make sense How to evaluate markets, leadership, and density before expanding The difference between a "sexy idea" and a smart decision Culture, Vision & Long-Term Scale Protecting A-players by not tolerating B- and C-players Why leadership energy must be invested where it compounds Building an organization where agents can achieve their biggest goals Resources & Mentions Expert Mentors Live John Kitchens Executive Coaching → https://johnkitchens.coach Concepts referenced: Intentional recruiting & avatar clarity Leadership development through coaching Financial discipline and P&L awareness Expansion strategy vs. ego-driven growth Final Takeaway Growth doesn't come from adding more people—it comes from making better decisions. The teams that win long-term are led by CEOs who know when to say no, who they're building for, and how to invest their time where it creates the most leverage. Expansion, recruiting, and scale only work when they're rooted in clarity, leadership, and discipline—not ego. "If it's not a hell yes, it's a no. And knowing when to say no might be the most powerful leadership skill you have." The conversation traces Chris and Tony's long careers in fiber, the evolution from Great Plains Communications to the GPC Fiber brand, and why Kentucky's Louisville–Lexington–Cincinnati–Indianapolis corridor is such a powerful hub for economic growth. The episode highlights how GPC approaches market selection, their focus on mission-critical connectivity for hospitals, hyperscalers, logistics companies, and small businesses, and how vertical integration—designing, building, and supporting their own network—creates a differentiated customer experience. Tony breaks down the network architecture behind their 400G backbone, the path to 800G and 1.6T, ring topology for resiliency, and how they think about backbone, middle mile, and last mile design to ensure scalability and low latency. Chris shares how transparency, geographic expertise, and frictionless collaboration have helped GPC win business with hyperscalers and support economic development in rural Kentucky—“not just lighting up fiber, but lighting up opportunity.” The episode wraps with a look ahead at how AI, security, and seamless customer experiences will shape GPC Fiber's next chapter in the Southeast.

Andy shares how he and his wife moved to Cleveland after serving in young adult ministry, eventually launching Renew in 2011. He discusses the critical role of perseverance, the importance of planting with people rather than alone, and the conviction that God must truly call you to the work. He illustrates these principles with stories of sending out new planters—like CrossFields Church and Burning River Church—and highlights the collaborative work of the Kingdom Collective, a Cleveland-based partnership that funds and supports multiplication. Greg and Andy also explore sustaining a healthy marriage while leading a church, the power of curiosity for ongoing growth, and why planters should focus less on "sexy" locations and more on God's call to specific people, not just places. Jan 4,46-53 (46) Znowu zatem Jezus przyszedł do Kany Galilejskiej, gdzie wcześniej przemienił wodę w wino.

Send us a textQuality childcare creates the foundation for lifelong learning and development, but finding the right program often leaves parents confused, frustrated, and uncertain. What should you actually look for beyond a clean facility and friendly staff? How do you know if a program will nurture your child's development in ways that matter? In this illuminating conversation, Dr. Lisa Hassler welcomes Judith Sikora, a respected voice in early childhood education with over three decades of leadership at national organizations like Child Care Aware of America. Sikora cuts through the confusion with practical wisdom that helps parents make informed choices based on what truly matters. We explore the crucial differences between licensing (minimum safety standards) and quality indicators, examining adult-to-child ratios, curriculum approaches, staff qualifications, and physical environments. Sikora explains why staff trained specifically in early childhood education rather than elementary education provide better experiences for young children—"it's like comparing elephants to apples"—and guides parents through evaluating center-based programs, family childcare homes, and friend/family care options based on their child's unique temperament and needs.Perhaps most surprisingly, Sikora challenges the common parental focus on academic readiness, revealing why communication skills and problem-solving abilities matter far more than memorizing letters and numbers at early ages. She offers specific questions to ask during program visits, observations to make about toys and activities, and explains how to access helpful resources like childcareaware.org's age-specific checklists.

(19) Idźcie więc i pozyskujcie uczniów pośród wszystkich narodów. Mat. 28,17 (17) Gdy Go zobaczyli, złożyli Mu pokłon, choć niektórzy wątpili. Dz. 22,16 (16) A teraz — dlaczego zwlekasz? Wstań, daj się ochrzcić i obmyj się z twoich grzechów, wzywając Jego imienia. Dz. 19,1-5 (1) Właśnie gdy Apollos przebywał w Koryncie, Paweł przeszedł obszary wyżynne i przybył do Efezu. Tam spotkał jakichś uczniów (2) i zapytał: Czy otrzymaliście Ducha Świętego, gdy uwierzyliście? (5) Gdy to usłyszeli, przyjęli chrzest w imię Pana Jezusa.

Prowadzący podcast pytają swojego gościa, czy można w ten sposób wszcząć globalny konflikt i wygrać go? A może wręcz przeciwnie, wieloletnie przygotowania Pekinu do wojny handlowej z Waszyngtonem przekreślą plan Trumpa, by osłabić Chińczyków?

We may think the Vikings were all the same, but it turns out that Viking violence wasn't the same everywhere. New research shows that Norwegian Vikings were buried with 50 times more weapons—and had a lot more injuries—than their neighbours in Denmark. And there were other dramatic differences that researchers were able to uncover, even after the passage of more than a thousand years. This episode digs into what those differences might mean. Why were Norwegian Vikings more violent? Was something going on in their society? Paul Lamb, Joe Filisko and Adam Sikora join me on episode 125, for a retrospective on one of the legends of the diatonic harmonica, Sonny Terry, whose real name was Saunders Terrell.Sonny was born in 1911 (or 1912), in Greensboro, Georgia (or it could have been North Carolina). Growing up on a farm in a rural community, Sonny was left blind by two accidents in his youth. Unable to work on the farm he turned to music, with his harmonica playing father giving him his early lessons.Sonny first rose to prominence playing with Blind Boy Fuller, and then made a splash by performing at Carnegie Hall in 1938 as part of the ‘From Spirituals To Swing' concert.A few years later he formed probably the most famous blues duo ever, with Brownie McGhee. Sonny and Brownie made their name in the New York Folk scene and went on to play together for forty years, travelling the world, with many festival appearances, on Broadway, in movies and countless albums together. Sonny also played solo and with many other notable musicians besides Brownie, including an album with Johnny Winter towards the end of his life.We look into Sonny's style of playing and talk about how his rhythmical work is essential study in getting your own harmonica chops together.Links:Sonny Terry Estate items for sale:https://bluemoonharmonicas.com/collections/sonny-terry-estate-llcPaul Lamb: http://paullamb.com/Joe Filisko: https://www.filiskostore.com/Adam Sikora: https://jukejointsmokers.com/http://www.the-archivist.co.uk/rare-early-blues-harp-recordings-by-singers-and-sidemen-introduced-by-joe-filisko/Videos:American Folk Blues Festival, Hootin' The Blues:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtO7cctW1uISonny and Woody Guthrie postage stamps playing Lost John:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4ldxb0iGHcSonny and Brownie in one of their last concerts, 1980:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzDNhA5irc8Sonny and Brownie playing on The Jerk, Steve Martin movie:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeDgOUoDTsYPodcast website:https://www.harmonicahappyhour.comDonations:If you want to make a voluntary donation to help support the running costs of the podcast then please use this link (or visit the podcast website link above):https://paypal.me/harmonicahappyhour?locale.x=en_GBSpotify Playlist: Also check out the Spotify Playlist, which contains most of the songs discussed in the podcast:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5QC6RF2VTfs4iPuasJBqwT?si=M-j3IkiISeefhR7ybm9qIQPodcast sponsors:This podcast is sponsored by SEYDEL harmonicas - visit the oldest harmonica factory in the world at www.seydel1847.com  or on Facebook or Instagram at SEYDEL HARMONICAS--------------------------------Blue Moon Harmonicas: https://bluemoonharmonicas.comSupport the show

Describing Hartland as "basically a truck stop," it was much more. Jason graduated from Hartland High School, playing drums in its marching band and eventually serving as the Hartland Eagles' mascot. Sadly, Jason's younger brother, Kris, died when he was 11 years old, from a blood disorder. Kris' life and death had great meaning, however, as researchers were able to study his condition. Jason stated that today, people with Kris' condition would survive. Upon graduation from high school, Jason hightailed it to Hollywood, California to attend the Musicians Institute ("MI"), a college that was known as a 'player's school,' meaning that students were taught the skills to make a sustainable career in the music industry. While many young people could qualify to be a guitar tech based upon their self-taught abilities, Jason credited MI for a valuable education and teaching him guitar repair and cable management. " I started playing guitar in 6th grade, so I had six to seven years of experience with signal flow, how to solder microphones back together. I learned a lot in high school with my band, messing with pedals and guitars and amplifiers. I did learn guitar repair, cable management and how to get tone while in college at MI." Andy Brauer hired Jason right after graduation from MI, to work at his shop that specialized in instrument and musical gear rentals. Jason had the good fortune to work with Faith Hill in his very first gig, being hired to work at Skywalker Ranch to assist in recording track sessions. "I got to hang out with the best musicians in the world for a week: Mike Landau, Dean Parks, Paul Bushnell, and Vinnie Calaiuta are monster players!" Jason also got to witness the regular lives of performers such as Faith Hill, her husband, Tim McGraw, and their children, and realized how fortunate he was to be a part of this experience in the ordinary lives of superstars as the album was being cut. Jason then met Michael Lockwood, a guitarist who hired him to be a touring guitar tech for Aimee Mann, performing sound checks and restringing guitars, ensuring that all would go well during concerts. Jason would continue this type of work for several years, working with greats such as Lisa Marie Presley, Britney Spears, and the Goo Goo Dolls, as well as other acts during what he calls his 'lost years from 2004 to 2006', such as Hanson, Gerard McMahon, Puddle of Mudd, and the recording of "A Mighty Wind," an album accompanying a movie of the same name, featuring Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, Michael McKean, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Jennifer Coolidge and many other staples of comedy culture of the time. "The work ethic is very different when you're on the road. You're not allowed to be sick. The show must go on. If there is a half million dollar guarantee and there are 10,000 people out there, your rig has to work. There was always a doctor out there with water, vitamins, and oxygen. You have to do the show. There's no back-up. No one else would know my rig," says Jason Sikora. Asked if he missed traveling on the road for months as a time as a guitar tech,

On the evening of May 22, 1992, Betty Wilson returned home from an AA meeting to find her husband, Dr. Jack Wilson, had been beaten and stabbed to death in what she assumed was a burglary gone wrong. Betty ran to a neighbor's house to call 911, and police arrived at the Wilson's house a short time later to secure the scene. At first, investigators agreed with Betty's theory that Jack had surprised a burglar and was then killed. The problem, however, was that nothing appeared to have been taken, nor did it appear that the house had been ransacked. A few days later, a tip led detectives to James White, who quickly confessed that he murdered Jack Wilson at the request of Betty and her twin sister, Peggy Lowe, with whom he was in love. Betty Wilson and her sister, Peggy, were both arrested and went on to be tried for capital murder, while James White accepted a plea deal in exchange for testifying against both women. After a brief trial, a jury found Betty guilty, and she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Peggy Lowe, on the other hand, was tried for the same crime, but just a few months after her sister's verdict was read, Peggy was found not guilty. How was it both women could face the same charges, under the same circumstances, and be tried with the same evidence, but receive opposite outcomes?
