Mary and I had the pleasure of chatting with filmmakers Eric England and Caitlyn Greene, two of the most wonderful people we've met. We talked about Contracted, which Eric wrote and directed, as well as how both he and Caitlyn got into horror. We also talked about some of their upcoming projects, all of which sound fantastic (and right up our alley). We chatted like old friends about gender and sexuality tropes in horror, and we bonded over some of our favorite horror movies. It was a great time, and I can't wait to see what they do next. Huge thanks to Eric, Caitlyn, and Mary! Let's make this a regular thing!

We also cover Contracted: Phase II. Both are currently available on Tubi, and both contain our favorite horror doctor. Tangents for this episode include: ranch (and general condiment wars), Tilikum the whale, lessons from horror movies for anxious individuals, hot horror villains, real-life eyeball horror, Traumagotchi (TM, don't steal our idea), chapstick, Lasik, and paranormal experiences.

Nicole Henry • Time to Love Again feat. Grey Matters Now

Chef Mic True is an award winning international chef that has committed himself to feeding and introducing his community to healthy food rooted from the earth. He is an incredibly humble and holistic chef and peace warrior that feeds the mind body and soul of his community. As a Violence interrupter with Gideon's Army, he nurtures and protects the roots of his community and helps to fuel the powerful movement and mission of this extremely comprehensive and effective endeavor. Chef True feeds and nurtures a community starving for representation, protection, tools, mentors and trauma first response - a community zip code 37208 in Nashville, TN with the highest incarceration rate in the nation! The Mission of Gideon’s Army is to act collectively, boldly and strategically as a unified force for all children and to dismantle the school to prison pipeline. I love one of their latest posts that reads: Stop blaming systematic failures on individuals trapped in that system. Fight for people to have better choices. On March 3, a devastating tornado ripped through North Nashville leveling hundreds of homes and businesses. Now in the midst of a global pandemic and civil unrest, Gideon's Army is STILL working non-stop on the front lines every day assisting and supporting North Nashville. As a matter of fact, Mic True is so busy in the field, that we recorded the whole podcast in his truck via zoom while he juggled his community work with the construction of a new vegan restaurant, market and resource center in the center of 37208 an area considered a food desert. We even get to go through the building with him in the podcast and I’m introduced to Rasheedat Fetuga the founder and CEO of Gideon's Army when she pops her head in the truck. Rasheedat is an absolute genius and a goddess BTW. I encourage you to visit and learn more about this impressive and comprehensive organization as I am just barely able to highlight the surface of all they do. There is SO much to learn and it WORKS!!! I am personally learning SO much and have been so inspired that I have gone down a rabbit hole of reading and watching documentaries about other inner-city programs that implement violence interruption. I hope you are inspired to do the same – the more we know the more connections we can make to fill the gaps of a disconnected broken system. Thank you Chef True for your truth and for your passion that lights the high road for us all with hope and shines a light on the deep roots of a community sometimes overlooked. To learn more about Gideon's Army visit gideonsarmyunited.org, follow Gideon's Army United on IG and rebuildnorthnashville.com. As they say #weallwegot The end of the podcast / the altro was created as a very special production. Tanee Osborne is a female West African Drummer from LA . Through a mutual friend I contacted Tanee about her thoughts and potentially playing the drums for this episode. She expressed that she felt this to be a divine vibrational connection to Chef True, she too is a black Vegan and she would love to play. Tanee is a very special woman - she is joined by fellow drummer and African dancer Daunte for this gift of vibrational percussion. Chef True loved it! This episode has been an adventure. As you know, this episode was originally supposed to air last week. However, due to some technical difficulties, we had to postpone it a week. We then re-recorded it, only to have a terrible clicking noise appear 20 minutes in and last throughout. It was even worse than the original, so we decided to try our best to edit the first take. It's not pretty, but we didn't want to leave you guys with nothing. So here it is. In Horror Business, we discuss several rumors, including a potential Blair Witch 3 that may already be in production, Rob Zombie potentially penning an animated prequel to The Hills Have Eyes, and the theory of not one but two more Evil Dead movies being made. We delve into TV with discussions on two projects from Wes Craven, a long-gestating American Psycho series being discussed again, casting for Preacher, and one last hail Mary for Constantine. We go on to review the newly released, yet made in 2012, movie from Eric England, Roadside. We also tackle the ridiculous, yet oddly compelling, Clown. So climb aboard and let's ride this train straight to Hell. We apologize for the quality and believe us when we say this won't happen again.

For our turkey day edition of Horror Business, we tackle the latest on the TV adaptation of Evil Dead. Speaking of Evil Dead, the team behind the remake has a new project called A Man in the Dark. In the latest edition of "They're Remaking That? Really?" we discuss The Wolfman being remade yet again, only four years after the last time. This leads into a conversation about the entire Universal monster reboot scenario and why it's doomed to fail. We then move on to a trio of sequels, including Hocus Pocus 2, The Conjuring 2, and Insidious: Chapter 3. We also discuss the world of video games, namely a movie that dives into the Splatterhouse universe (bit.ly/Splatfilm), as well as the new slasher PC game Last Year (kickstarter.com/projects/lastyear/last-year-5-vs-1-multiplayer-survival-horror). We go on to discuss Eric England's Get The Girl, USA's "Evil Men," and Stephen King's The Talisman. We even make a call to our resident Stephen King expert, SkeleJohn. Speaking of Stephen King, we have an update on The Stand adaptation. We also have updates on Crooked Lake, From Hell, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and Krampus. We also tell you about a new Christmas-themed haunted house (chamberofhorrorsny.com/very-scary-xmas/) as well as the new horror game show from Tommy - er, Jason - Blum. We had some technical difficulties towards the end of the episode, we hope that doesn't take away from your enjoyment. So get stuffed from the Grave Plot Podcast.

Happy new year!  We are ready to go big in 2014 and it all starts here. We have our first ever interview, with the writer and director of Contracted (which we reviewed in episode 5), Mr. Eric England.  Eric breaks down not only Contracted, but also his previous film Madison County, plus he tells us about what the future holds for him, and agrees to have a beer with us. We also unearth a bunch of news, including rumors of yet another film from self-proclaimed "former filmmaker" Kevin Smith, the latest sequel news for Woman In Black and Dead Snow, plus yet another Amityville movie.  On top of all that, we discuss Simon Pegg's latest horror-comedy A Fantastic Fear of Everything, as well as the Christian anti-porn horror The Lock In.  Yes, that's a real thing.  We also were able to dig up some television news about The Walking Dead and an upcoming miniseries based on The Mist. As usual, we have two movie reviews for you.  This episode we picked You're Next and the latest installment in the Child's Play series, Curse of Chucky.  Plus, Taylor has not one but two rants about "kids these days," Tony takes the lord's name in vain, and we make three different references to Entourage. So come play with us.  We're your friends 'til the end.
