Welcome to Cyberpunk Cinema – the Definitive Dive into the Dark Future of Science Fiction. I am your host, Anthony La Pira, and I will be taking you on a cinematic journey through the sprawling cityscapes, the crippling datastorms, and the cybernetic implants that encompass all things Cyberpunk. In this week's episode, I had a conversation with Charles de Lauzirika, filmmaker, documentarian, and film archaeologist as we delve DEEP into the development hell that was ALIEN 3 (1992). Charles was responsible for all of the Behind-the-Scenes footage of the ALIEN QUADRILOGY boxed set and he was the perfect person to talk to as we shared our mutual love and admiration for the much-maligned, somewhat ridiculed, red-headed step-child of the Alien Franchise. This is a MEGA double-sized episode that checks all the boxes for any fan of Cyberpunk Cinema. This one absolutely rocks! So, do me a favor – it's time to access your cranial jacks, boot up your Ono-Sendai Cyberspace 7, and slap on your damn mirror-shades. You know what time it is! It's Day 7 of the FilmQuest podcast series, and let's just say that Mike & Lance are feeling the aftermath of a wild night at the festival's karaoke party. They certainly pushed the limits of Provo's booze supply, and the evidence is written all over their slightly disheveled faces. But, as true filmmakers, they soldier on and pull themselves together to have an incredible conversation with some of the most talented folks in the industry. Charles de Lauzirika, the brilliant mind behind "Honk," joins us on the show to share the fears and triumphs he encountered while creating his film. But that's not all - he also delves into the invaluable insights he gained from shadowing some of the biggest directors in Hollywood as a documentarian. We're also joined by the talented director of "A Dire Strait," Liang Chun Lin. Her years of experience as a script supervisor and assistant director have enriched her craft as a filmmaker, and she's here to share her journey. Finally, director Moe Najati graces our show and tells us about his path from documentaries to a Best Sci-Fi nominated short film titled "Ensouled." Get ready for an intimate conversation among working directors who lay bare their fears, insecurities, favorite moments on set, and their creative processes in the editing room. They all explore how to become more comfortable and embrace the unknown as artists. It's a candid, enlightening, and inspiring episode that's a must-listen for any aspiring filmmaker or cinema lover. Join us on this journey through the minds of these incredible artists, and learn how to overcome the challenges of the creative process. --------------------------------- Go to inlovewiththeprocess.com to see trailers and clips! ►FilmQuest: www.filmquestfest.com/ ►Charles's Instagram: www.instagram.com/lauzirika ►Liang's Instagram: www.instagram.com/liangchun8066 ►Moe's Instagram: www.instagram.com/moenajati ►Lances's Instagram: www.instagram.com/golancego ►Mike Pecci's IG: instagram.com/mikepecci ►ILWP's IG: instagram.com/inlovewiththeprocesspod -------------> Featuring Music from: ►Mitch Murder ►Code Elektro ►Big Black Delta The Episode is Sponsored by ► bokehrentals.com/ ► Puget Systems: puget.systems/go/ILWTP ► Fotodiox: fotodioxpro.com/ ► FujiFilm: fujifilm-x.com/ ► FujiFilm Shop: bit.ly/3Q2zTHw ► FujiFilm Refurb: bit.ly/3I9NLh4 ► FujiFilmX-H2S: bit.ly/3i22hN5 ► Black Magic: www.blackmagicdesign.com/

For Episode 18 I spoke again to the director of Dangerous Days (the amazing Blade Runner documentary), Charles de Lauzirika and also Bruce Wright who works for Disney Animation. But more importantly for this episode, Bruce was at the legendary Workprint screening of Blade Runner at the Fairfax Theatre in May 1990.The Workprint is important in Blade Runner Lore because it was that very screening that snowballed to the extent that the true Directors' Cut got released, ultimately culminating in the release of the The Final Cut in 2007. Which is considered the definitive cut of the movie.Really this is a conversation about how releasing the multiple versions of a movie really gives us a wonderful, iterative history of filmmaking, through the films we love.As mentioned in my intro - The Ivor Powell documentary can be found here - https://vimeo.com/410802693Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/jamiebenning)

Attention, on spoile. Beaucoup.
