Is this our silliest episode yet? You tell us! To cap off the 2024 year and our zombie season, we're bringing you Dead Snow. The 2009 flick Dead Snow delivers exactly what's on the label: a Nazi zombie campy horror movie. Come for the cheesy plot, stay for the copious blood and guts. Discussion points include: Nazi zombies (duh), snowmobile skiing, a disgusting outhouse rendezvous.

The school year has started here in Colorado, so we're adjusting to life after summer break. Maybe it's a parents' break then? This week's movie, Cockneys vs Zombies, puts our two main characters in a real pickle. Their grandad's retirement home is about to be closed. They need cash to try to save it. So, what should they do? Assemble an Oceans 11-style crew of East End Dufuses (except for Katy, she seems pretty bright) to rob a bank. When their plan inevitably fails, they're just about to get nicked when...A GOD DAMNED ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE BREAKS OUT. Now they've really stepped in it. They've got to get way with the cash and save grandad and his friends from certain death. Oh yeah, Honor Blackman is in this. She was Pussy Galore in Goldfinger (1964). Cockneys vs Zombies final grade: Steve Another well done zombie flick. Interesting characters, good humor, and decent writing make this a movie well worth your time. Less-than-spectacular gore effects get then knocked down a peg. 4.13/5.0 Brandon This one hits in all the right places. It falls a bit short of Dead Snow, but still a well-done, entertaining horr-medy. Dialogue and sight-gags combine to make a good-quality flick that is easily re-watchable. Guns, guts, and a punted baby. What more could you ask for? 4.48/5 Cocktail of the Week: Bramble 2 oz Gin 1 oz Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice A little squirty of simple syrup 1/2 oz Blackberry Liqueur Combine gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker and shake to chill. Strain over ice in a rocks glass. Float blackberry liqueur on top to create two-tone effect. Cocktail Grade: Another pleasant spin on the "Liquor X/Sour" combination, of which we are a fan. We did add a little club soda on a subsequent round and that did seem to take it up a notch. Maybe berry liqueurs work better, for us, with a few bubbbles? 4.4/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/boozeandbmovies/support
Shane, Chris Holmes, and Mike Stewart aka DM Mike (Save for Half podcast, Found in the Ruins podcast) shamble relentlessly through over 40 zombie and zombie-ish flicks in their inhuman hunger for horror. Plus a brief detour into the best on-screen Joker and multiple bad zombie jokes. True or false: Marcel Marceau starred in a zombie flick. What is Shane's most annoying zombie movie? A ski trip goes south for medical students who find themselves battling a horde of nazi zombies.Dead Snow is an excellent zombie movie with a cool winter atmosphere in a cabin that turns bloody fast. The movie combines the comedic relief of the unbelievable circumstances that the characters are in with the bloody chaos of the zombies very well. The film is very entertaining and poses the zombies as intelligent as they have a purpose to kill the characters. Synopsis When a single dad who owes child support decides to rob a rich family's home while he thinks they're on vacation, he unexpectedly gets locked inside of a major house of horrors, with a sadistic mask wearing man who has already decided to wreak another kind of havoc on this family's home. Review of The Collector The Collector (2009) is a quintessential aughts horror film. The quick cuts, the over the top gore, the good guy who is actually kind of seedy but has a good heart protagonist, the Saw-like green glow of some of the scenes is representative of the era it came out into. This movie came out the same year as Jennifer's Body, The Human Centipede, Drag Me to Hell, Dead Snow, The Uninvited and many more very famous and quite renowned horror films. Although the critics didn't like this one, with a 29% on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes, I think that this movie deserves some love. This movie is definitely a hidden gem, with only a $3 mil budget, compared to other horror from the same year, with budgets as high as $30 mil. Even though critics hated it, it was a box office success, grossing over $10 mil. It's fun, it's inventive, there are a lot of unexpected twists and turns that keep you captivated. Although it isn't the best movie I've ever seen, it has rewatchable value and it has a pretty great sequel, The Collection. If you like gore, if you like interesting kills and action packed scary movies, this one's for you. Score 7/10

For our traditional wildly inappropriate movie for Valentine's Day this year, we picked a romantic comedy... from Tommy Wirkola, director of the Dead Snow films! The Trip (2021) has Noomi Rapace and Aksel Hennie as a couple off for a romantic break where they plan to kill each other!

We pick up where we left off in Episode 3, with Martin trying to escape the Nazi Draug. This time, he gets a little help from a crack squad of American zombie hunters. USA! USA! This one has more blood, more intestines and more humor than the first Dead Snow. If only Tommy Wirkola had left the last five minutes out. Brandon stumbles his way through the podcast's first #German language movie review. But, anything to diversify the show's demographic reach, right? Dead Snow Red vs Dead Final Grade: Steve - Top Shelf Brandon - Top Shelf Both of the guys agree that we could have done without the weird zombie-sex scene at the end. That didn't quite hit right. Cocktail of the Week: White Russian (Fancy Version) 2 oz vodka (h/t Bear Creek Distillery) 2 oz coffee liqueur Splash of Vanilla Syrup Whipping cream ------------- Stir vodka and liqueur together over ice in a rocks glass . Froth syrup and cream and float on top to make your White Russian look a little fancier than what Jeffery Lebowski makes. Steve has, surprisingly, never had a White Russian before, but maybe that's because Brandon drank them all around the turn of the century. Both the guys give the White Russian a positive review. This week, the 2 Guys 5 Movies podcast continues the journey through the horror of the 2000s. Frank's 2009 list includes the horror-comedy Dead Snow, the pregnancy horror Grace, the sci-fi/horror Splice starring Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley, Chan-wook Park's Thirst, and Ti West's The House of the Devil. Legends Podcast puts the missile in mistletoe with a bloody take on a Christmas movie! When a disenchanted Santa Claus gets caught up in a home invasion, he has to give out lumps of coal to everyone on his naughty list… and he's all out of coal, so they'll just have to take their lumps! Starring Stranger Things' David Harbour, this Die Hard meets Miracle on 34th Street mashup takes the violence up to eleven. John Leguizamo co-stars as the bad guy and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation alum Beverly D'Angelo plays the family matriarch in this chaotic holiday treat from Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola. You better watch out! You better watch out! You better watch out! YOU BETTER WATCH OUT! It's Violent Night. Dead Snow 2 is a wild ride not without it's flaws. The kills and gore rival Turbo Kid in ridiculousness and absurdity. With it's twist on the modern day vision of zombies, this is a must see film for your next drinking night with your friends. Don't listen to Charlie, this one is a whole lotta fun.
The guys get back in their wheelhouse with a zombie splatter-fest. This one is jam-packed with some of Brandon's favorite things: A WWII historical backdrop, Norse mythology, lots of blood, guts and outlandish moments. Steve drops some knowledge about draug/draugr, and learns what aquavit tastes like. This podcast is firmly anti-Hitler. Dead Snow final grade: Steve - Middle Shelf, Brandon - Top Shelf Cocktail of the Week: Norwegian Paralysis 30 ml Aquavit 30 ml Orange Juice 20 ml Pineapple Juice 10 ml Lime Juice 10 ml Orgeat Syrup Notes about this episode: This movie was filmed above the Arctic Circle in #Norway. Beautiful locations. Makes you want to go there and see the Northern Lights sometime. The #Norwegian word for f*ck is "faen" pronounced kinda like "fah-en" The #Norwegian word for douchebag is "drittsekk," pronounced pretty much how it looks. Steve refers to the Zombie's "potato masher" which is a slang term for the German Stielhandgrenate 43, a stick-style hand grenade used by the Nazi military in WWII . In this week's episode, Party Month continues with the 2014 sequel in the Norwegian franchise, "Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead." Special topics for your consideration include: SO MANY hot dogs on the outside, good gore, useless cops in a new locale, being an asshole but also a stupid asshole, a solid appreciation for Martin Starr, and a bit of soccer hooliganism. Also I very much lost my voice by the end of this recording and I apologize for that. It's been ages since we covered the original "Dead Snow"-- all the way back in Episode 92! If you're interested in other Scandinavian horror, you may enjoy Episode 163- "Let the Right One In"(Sweden), Episode 260- "Rare Exports" (Finland), and Episode 275- "Lake Bodom" (Finland).
