Former State Sen. Bob Onder (R) captured 47 percent of the vote in Tuesday's seven-way GOP primary to try to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth) on Capitol Hill. Mr. Onder received about 49,000 votes, defeating former State Sen. Kurt Schafer (R-Columbia) by about 10,000 votes. The district includes Columbia south of Broadway, Jefferson City, Ashland, Fulton, Boonville, California, Kingdom City, Wentzville and O'Fallon. Congressman Luetkemeyer taped a radio ad before the election saying former Senator Onder does not live in Missouri's third congressional district. That is correct; Missouri's congressional boundaries are redrawn every ten years and Onder's current home is just outside the third district in Augusta. That's in St. Charles County. Senator Onder tells listeners that he's lived in the 3rd district for 24 of the last 25 years and that he and his wife are currently working with a realtor and will move. He also says that if he defeats Democratic nominee Bethany Mann of Wentzville in November, he hopes to be able to serve on the U,S. House Ways and Means and the House Education and Workforce committees:

After four years out of office, former Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal is trying to make a comeback in the closely-watched 1st Congressional District contest that includes incumbent Cori Bush and St. Louis County Prosecutor Wesley Bell. Chappelle-Nadal joins "The Politically Speaking Hour on St. Louis on the Air" host Jason Rosenbaum to discuss her campaign.
Seven Republicans, two Democrats and Vienna Libertarian nominee Jordan Rowden hope to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth) in November. One of the seven Republicans, State Rep. Justin Hicks (R-Lake St. Louis), has suspended his campaign. Former Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee chair Kurt Schaefer (R-Columbia) is one of the seven Republicans running, and he joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri." Senator Schaefer tells listeners that he likes the unity he's seeing on television at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and hopes it sticks. He's focusing on the southern border and the economy as he campaigns. Schaefer's top primary rival is former State Sen. Bob Onder (R-Lake St. Louis), who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Onder's theme has been he'll make DC listen, but Schaefer says no one listened to Onder when he served in the Missouri Senate in Jefferson City. Senator Schaefer also emphasizes the importance of oversight on Capitol Hill, noting the critical role he played in the Moberly Mamtek investigation at the Statehouse. Former Mamtek chief executive officer Bruce Cole was paroled from prison in 2018. Cole pleaded guilty in September 2014 to one count of theft and two counts of securities fraud, and he was sentenced to seven years in state prison. Prosecutors say Cole scammed investors out of millions of dollars involving a failed artificial sweetener plant in Moberly. Former Senator Schaefer blasted Cole this morning on "Wake Up", and he also criticized then-Governor Jay Nixon (D) for what he calls a lack of due diligence involving Mamtek. The seven GOP primary candidates on the August ballot are Schaefer, former Sen. Onder, Rep. Hicks (his name is still on the ballot), Arnie Dienoff of O'Fallon, Chad Bicknell of Arnold, Kyle Bone of DeSoto and Bruce Bowman of Jefferson City. The two Democrats running are Wentzville's Bethany Mann and Andrew Daly of Fulton. The sprawling district includes Columbia south of Broadway, Ashland, Jefferson City, Boonville, Fulton, California, Wentzville and O'Fallon:

Inflation, the southern border, illegal immigration and energy are top priorities for Mr. Onder, who also addressed questions about his residency on-air. Former Senator Onder also addressed critics who say he didn't pay his taxes. Former Senator Onder notes he's a physician, small business owner and has real estate, emphasizing he pays a lot in taxes. He tells listeners that he was a month late in paying one personal property tax bill. The other six August GOP primary candidates are Arnie Dienoff of O'Fallon, Chad Bicknell of Arnold, Kyle Bone of DeSoto, former State Sen. Kurt Schaefer (R-Columbia), State Rep. The second person charged in the deaths of Tylee Ryan, JJ Vallow, and Tammy Daybell is now in court. Chad Daybell, husband of Cult Mom Lori Vallow, facing the same charges as his wife and more. Shortly after her husband Charles Vallow's shooting death, Lori Vallow moves with her two children to Rexburg, Idaho. It's not far from where Chad Daybell, Vallow's lover and “husband from a past life” resides with his wife Tammy Daybell. Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow settle in, making a trip to Yellowstone National Park with their mom and uncle Alex Cox. A photo from that trip is the last proof of Tylee's life, and weeks later, J.J. Vallow stops going to school. Meanwhile, Vallow and Daybell spend more time together. The couple is seen loading a storage unit with Vallow's children's belongings. A month passes, and suddenly Daybell's wife Tammy is dead. Two weeks later, Lori Vallow is now Lori Vallow-Daybell after a wedding ceremony on a Kauai beach. Chad Daybell's wife Tammy Daybell dies in her sleep at the age of 49. Friends were shocked by her death, saying that Tammy was incredibly fit. The mom of five was training for a marathon and regularly attended high-intensity exercise classes with friends. However, Chad Daybell painted a very different story of his wife's health. He said Tammy Daybell was sickly, always coughing, and struggling with low blood pressure that led to fainting spells. Daybell said on the night of her death, Tammy Daybell had a coughing fit that led her to vomit. He helped her to bed and was startled awake when Tammy rolled onto the floor. Daybell says when he checked on her, he realized Tammy was dead. Fremont County Coroner, Brenda Dye, took Daybell's account of his wife's health into consideration when she ruled Tammy Daybell's cause of death to be pulmonary edema due to a cardiac event without performing an autopsy. By June of 2020, detectives are narrowing down what happened to J.J. Vallow and Tylee Ryan since their disappearance nearly six months earlier. Lori Vallow-Daybell is behind bars on two felony charges of Desertion & Nonsupport of Dependent Children after failing to produce Tylee and J.J. in court on January 30. On April 9, police announce their suspicion that Vallow and Vallow-Daybell conspired to kill Tammy Daybell. Rexburg Police return to Chad Daybell's home for another search. While Daybell is detained, investigators uncover human remains in a pet cemetery in Daybell's backyard. The remains are later confirmed to be J.J. Vallow and Tylee Ryan. Bryan Kohberger's attorney has provided his official alibi for the early morning hours of November 13, 2022. Kohberger claims he was driving his car. In a newly-filed court document, Kohberger claims after he moved to the Pullman area he liked to go out and explore, and according to him, that is what he was doing when the four students were murdered, But Kohberger claims his cell phone data will back him up and prove that he was south of Pullman and west of Moscow at the time of the murders Kohberger's official alibi claims, "Mr. Kohberger was out driving in the early morning hours of November 13, 2022; as he often did to hike and run and/or see the moon and stars, He drove throughout the area south of Pullman, Washington, west of Moscow, Idaho including Wawawai Park." To further solidify his alibi, Kohberger said he plans to offer testimony from a CSLI expert to show that he was south of Pullman and west of Moscow at the time of the murders and that he did not travel east on the Moscow-Pullman Highway on the early morning of November 13, 2022. As the Kohberger defense team moves ahead with their trial preparations in hopes of moving the proceeding out of Latah County, they put together a research project. In that research project, they hired a polling company to survey area residents to ask questions about how much the residents may know about the murders. The company had reached around 400 residents before a concerned citizen recorded one of the survey phone calls and contacted the district attorney's office to complain. Prosecutors say the polling company was asking questions to plant negative opinions of Kohberger in potential jurors' minds in the hopes the calls would serve to prove that local people were prejudiced against Kohberger and that the trial should be moved to another county. Retiring U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth) will endorse former State Sen. Kurt Schaefer (R-Columbia) in the race to succeed him on Capitol Hill. Eight Republicans have filed in the race, along with Democrats Bethany Mann of Wentzville and Andrew Daly of Fulton. One of Senator Schaefer's primary opponents is former State Sen. Bob Onder (R-Lake St. Louis), who tells 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri" that the one endorsement that matters is the one from GOP primary voters in the district in August. Missouri's new third congressional district includes Columbia south of Broadway, Ashland, Jefferson City, California, Fulton, Kingdom City and Linn. It also includes Wentzville and O'Fallon. Senator Onder tells listeners that he believes he will win every county in the district in the primary, including Boone. That's Schaefer's home county. Senator Onder describes himself as a movement conservative , noting he was a Trump delegate twice at GOP national conventions. Onder describes Senator Schaefer as a "creature of the swamp", comparing him to former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming). Senator Onder slammed Schaefer during the interview, saying he thought he was representing "woke college professors" in the Missouri Senate, rather than rural constituents in Boone and Randolph and later Cooper counties. Senator Onder tells listeners that those rural residents are the ones that got Schaefer elected in 2008:

For more than a decade, states have had to grapple with the challenge of taxing the digital economy. Peering into cyberspace, tax administrators were often left with more questions than answers. What online products and services should be taxed? How does a state source a virtual creation to a specific jurisdiction? Can states even tax digital products and services in the face of federal limits on discriminatory taxes on electronic commerce? State tax authorities now have to answer these questions without Gil Brewer, who retired at the end of January from his position as assistant director of tax policy at the Washington State Department of Revenue and stepped down as chairman of the Multistate Tax Commission's digital products work group. Brewer assisted with Washington's pioneering efforts to equitably and efficiently tax digital goods and services dating back to 2009. He lobbied the tax commission in 2021 to launch an ambitious project aimed at uniform digital economy tax policies across the states. On this episode of Talking Tax, Bloomberg Tax senior reporter Michael J. Bologna caught up with Brewer to discuss his career in tax, his views on state taxation of digital products, and the risks the states and taxpayers face if they fail to develop thoughtful and legally defensible policies taxing digital products and services. The sprawling district includes Columbia south of Broadway, Ashland, Jefferson City, Fulton, Holts Summit, Boonville, California, New Florence, Linn, Warrenton and also St. Charles County. Senator Onder joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri", telling listeners that he has 70 percent name ID in St. Charles County and 46 percent name ID districtwide. Former Senator Onder says he's switched from the lieutenant governor's race to the congressional race because the nation is in a crisis of Washington's making. Mary Elizabeth Coleman (R-Arnold) is also seeking the GOP nomination in the race:

Onder says farmers are used to this kind of weather. Onder tells listeners Des Moines has received about 18 inches of snow and that your feet hurt to walk outside, due to the subfreezing temperatures. While he's currently running for Missouri lieutenant governor, former Senator Onder tells "Wake Up" that he's also looking at a possible run to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth) in Missouri's sprawling third district, which includes parts of Columbia, Jefferson City, Boonville, Fulton, New Florence and St. Charles County. After high school, Susan Leigh Vaughan marries David Smith. They have two sons, but the children don't keep the marriage together. The Smiths separated several times. During one of these separations, Susan Smith begins dating Tom Findlay, the single son of a wealthy mill owner. Smith is planning a future with her new beau when she gets a Dear John letter from Findley. He explains that he doesn't want an instant family. On the night of October 25, Susan Smith knocks on the door of a house near John D Long Lake. She is hysterical when the man answers the door and tells him to call the police. She says an armed black man just carjacked her at a red light. Her two boys, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alex, are still in the car. For days Susan Smith tells an ever-changing story of the carjacking. Then Susan Smith finally admits what she has done. There never was a hijacker. She went out for a drive with her sons buckled into their car seats in the back. Feeling desperate, alone, and suicidal, she drove to John D. Long Lake and puts the car in neutral. She jumps out and watches the car sink. Scuba divers locate the vehicle with the boys in the back, still buckled into their seats. Since Susan Smith was convicted and jailed, tabloid news reports claim Smith told prison investigators that she had four sexual encounters with Lieutenant Houston Cagle, a supervisor at South Carolina's Women's Correctional Institution. Cagle admitted having sex with Smith and another prisoner. He was charged with the offenses in August 2000. The 50-year-old Cagle pleaded guilty and spent 3 months in jail. Captain Alfred Rowe also pleaded guilty to having sex with Smith and was sentenced to five years' probation. Now Smith's relationship with men turns to pen pals. Several men have written to Smith over the years, with Smith looking to a life outside prison. In March of 2022, People magazine gained access to letters Smith wrote to a long-distance boyfriend. In one letter Smith wrote, "I can't wait to build a life with you, leave the past mistakes behind and start fresh, just you and me." The Messenger has reportedly obtained transcripts of dozens of voice and text messages that Susan Smith traded with at least six men while serving her time in Prison. One man has gone so are as to build a fake life for Susan Smith and himself in the game the Sims also has a pet name for the convicted child killer, "Pookie." A new report says two surviving housemates in the Moscow, Idaho rental home where 4 students were killed, were awake and texting each other while the murders were taking place. The new information comes from Air Mail.com, a weekly digital subscription service. The lengthy article attributes the information to someone on the grand jury that indicted Bryan Kohberger. The information was allegedly leaked to Kaylee Goncalves' Father, Steve. Neither Gonsalves nor his attorney has commented or confirmed the information in the article. There is currently a restrictive gag order in place on the case. A statement released by the family however calls the claims “a very poor attempt at getting attention and obviously fictional.” As the investigation continues, prosecutors are asking for more of Bryan Kohberger's electronic footprint. The state is requesting customer information from multiple companies including Amazon, Apple, and PayPal. Search warrants have been served asking for information related to the purchase of knives, but that's not all. The information requests include customer "click activity" pertaining to knives and accessories, as well. Bryan Kohberger's trial start date has come and gone, with the accused killer still proclaiming his innocence. The trial was postponed after Kohberger waived his right to a speedy trial, and the judge accepted it. Kohberger's attorney, Anne Taylor, said the defense team needs more time to effectively present their case. The search for evidence that Kohberger knew his victims continues. Investigators say digital evidence and surveillance video links Kohberger to the murders. The defense says there is no connection, but the Gonsalves family tells a "48 Hours" investigation that after learning Kohberger's name, they did their own online search. They say they found an Instagram account they believe belongs to Kohberger which followed both Maddie Mogen and Kaylee Gonsalves. That account has now been deactivated. No word on a new trial date.
