Ben Seidl, Co-Founder & CEO of Autolane, joins James Cook to discuss how Autolane is addressing the "last 50 feet" challenge for autonomous vehicles in retail environments. Seidl explains how Autolane's platform gives retailers and shopping center owners control over the final approach and parking of driverless cars, aiming to eliminate traffic jams and improve customer experience. He shares insights on the company's collaboration with Simon Property Group, the logistics of deploying their technology at locations such as Stanford Shopping Center and Barton Creek Square, and the broader implications for delivery, curbside pickup, and the future of retail. The conversation also covers the evolving landscape of autonomous vehicle regulation, the role of major automakers and tech companies, and Seidl's vision for a new era of "autonomous commerce." In this episode of NeedleXChange I interview Severina Seidl.Severina is a German embroidery artist whose work blurs the line between thread, paint, and narrative abstraction. In this second half, Severina shares her ambitions in fashion embroidery, reflects on the push-pull between creativity and career, and gets candid about what it means to pursue art without a roadmap. In this powerful episode of God-Sized Stories with Patricia Holbrook, author Jonathon Seidl joins Patricia for a raw and hope-filled conversation about his new book, Confessions of a Christian Alcoholic.Jonathon opens up about his battle with alcoholism, the stigma that surrounds addiction in the Church, and how he encountered God's grace in the midst of relapse, shame, and surrender. Wayne Shepherd talks with Jonathon Seidl about his alcohol addiction and the transforming power of Jesus to deliver him daily from his addictive behavior. (click for more...)Website and book: https://www.jonseidl.com Confessions of a Christian AlcoholicKey ThemesGod only uses sinners: Jonathon emphasizes that aside from Jesus, everyone God uses is imperfect.Shame and vulnerability: He initially resisted going public with his alcoholism due to fear of judgment in Christian circles.Sobriety journey: Now over two years sober; life is richer, though not easier. Alcohol wasn't the problem but the solution he used to escape deeper issues.Root Issues & Turning PointAlcoholism tied to childhood wounds of rejection and abandonment.Turning point came on an anniversary trip where his wife confronted him—she wanted him to address why he drank, not just stop drinking.Four Steps to Break FreeAbiding in Christ – Developing an experiential, daily walk with Jesus (scripture, journaling, stillness).Finding true identity – Seeing oneself in Christ, not in addiction or failure.Radical vulnerability – Going beyond surface-level honesty, sharing deeply with trusted biblical community.Obedience – Trusting and following God's direction, even when it feels small or uncomfortable.Supports & SafeguardsWeekly Christian therapy (counselor Gina) helped uncover root causes.Biblical community and small group provided accountability and openness.Close sobriety group (texts/emails) for immediate honesty when tempted.Practices radical vulnerability—naming struggles before they escalate.Broader LessonsAddiction often stems from escapism, not just the substance.Messy sanctification: the Christian journey involves ongoing struggles, not just “minor sins.”Scripture shows God working through deeply flawed people (David, Abraham, etc.).Encouragement: there is room in the church for imperfect stories and God's redemption.Aims to help others struggling with addiction, break stigma, and point to biblical hope.NEXT WEEK: Ken Isaacs, Samaritan's Purse Send your support for FIRST PERSON to the Far East Broadcasting Company:FEBC National Processing Center Far East Broadcasting CompanyP.O. It's week two of Wider Lens. This week, Jonathon shares his story of recognizing his addiction, confronting the root causes beneath it, and finding freedom through Christ. From misordered priorities to the hidden struggles many Christians face, this conversation explores recovery, sanctification, and the hope that healing is possible. We are praying that this episode encourages you to reflect, reprioritize and hold tightly to the hope of Jesus! Episode Highlights: Understanding addiction as a spectrum allows for earlier intervention and support. Acknowledging one's addiction is the first step towards healing and transformation. True recovery requires deep honesty and accountability beyond surface-level admissions. Embracing those with messy sanctification stories fosters healing and growth. Identifying and correcting disordered priorities is crucial for recovery. Quotes from Today's Episode: Part of what kept me in a disordered relationship with alcohol is what the devil uses “I don't look or act like what I think an alcoholic looks like.” - J. Seidl Radical vulnerability, when you start practicing it, it's contagious and the devil hates it. -J. Seidl Anything that is misordered is disordered.-J. Seidl The mommy wine juice culture, mommy needs this to be mommy, right? It's become accepted.-J. Seidl I finally was able to stop drinking when I stopped trying to stop drinking. When I shot for Jesus, I got sobriety thrown in.-J. Seidl If you don't get to the root of those, it's just going to be something else. -J. Seidl Jesus is always going to meet us there. He's not going to let us down.- Dr. Kim I was ultimately addicted to escapism. -J. Seidl The muscle memory was forged and formed at a very young age. -J. Where might I be numbing pain or avoiding deeper heart work instead of bringing it honestly before the Lord? Without volume and market share growth, the Class I's may be at risk—or be forced to look at merging. Investors continue to await the next leg of Class I railroad earnings growth. While margin gains from current levels are expected, PSR (Precision Scheduled Railroading) is no longer the investor story it once was, and the railroads must prove they can grow to maintain their premium multiples. In this wide-ranging conversation with Railway Age Editor-in-Chief William C. Vantuono, Wall Street Contributing Editor Jason Seidl, Managing Director at TD Cowen, explores the factors that can drive railroad market share growth, including high-quality, consistently reliable service; ease of doing business; industrial development projects; regulatory relief allowing technological advancement; and potential mergers producing a U.S. transcontinental network. While the track record for industry volume growth has been questionable, Seidl views the growth levers “as largely in railroad control.”

The New Year is off to a predictably challenging start. Everywhere we look (California, Canada, New Orleans, and beyond) dreadful things are happening. I am offering in the spirit of solace and condolence a freshly refurbished and expanded bonus episode that I first published three and a half years ago as a pendant to another all-Schubert episode. This one presents all of the songs collected in the posthumously-published song collection Schwanengesang, that includes settings of poems by Ludwig Rellstab, Heinrich Heine, and Johann Gabriel Seidl. Many of Schubert's late Seidl settings were not included in that collection but they number among Schubert's most inspired and moving creations. I have included six of those settings at the beginning of the episode. These magnificent and transcendent songs are performed by exceptional baritones and bass-baritones in recordings spanning the course much of the twentieth century. Singers include Alexander Kipnis, Hans Hotter, Mark Reizen, Hermann Prey, Heinrich Schlusnus, Charles Panzéra, Andrzej Hiolski, Walter Berry, Benjamin Luxon, George London, Tom Krause, John Shirley-Quirk, Gérard Souzay [of course!], Heinrich Rehkemper, and many others. May these singers, voicing the divine utterances of Franz Schubert, provide a certain respite for those that are currently suffering. Countermelody is a podcast devoted to the glory and the power of the human voice raised in song. Singer and vocal aficionado Daniel Gundlach explores great singers of the past and present focusing in particular on those who are less well-remembered today than they should be. Daniel's lifetime in music as a professional countertenor, pianist, vocal coach, voice teacher, and journalist yields an exciting array of anecdotes, impressions, and “inside stories.” At Countermelody's core is the celebration of great singers of all stripes, their instruments, and the connection they make to the words they sing. By clicking on the following link (https://linktr.ee/CountermelodyPodcast) you can find the dedicated Countermelody website which contains additional content including artist photos and episode setlists. The link will also take you to Countermelody's Patreon page, where you can pledge your monthly or yearly support at whatever level you can afford.

Mike shares the benefits of using private capital during economic downturns when institutional capital tends to retract. He breaks down exactly how and why it's so important to build personal connections before discussing business opportunities Mike makes his interest rate prediction and how he will react economically Mike's take on why human interaction is more fruitful than AI automation More about Mike: Mike Seidl has been a successful private money lender since 2017 when he started partnering with and lending his personal capital on projects to experienced residential fix-and-flip real estate operators. In 2021, Mike was approached by a good friend and fellow business owner about deploying his money for him. He was looking for a safe, reliable return on his capital. Since then, the company has placed investor capital in loans as small as $15,000 and as large as $2,400,000. Mike's first job after studying economics at New York University was at a residential facility for sexually and physically abused kids. He has also managed a group home for adults with Intellectual Disabilities. As well as serving as a mental health worker at a psychiatric hospital. This experience helped him gain a good understanding of human behavior. That, in turn, helped him start, with a partner, grow and build his first company, providing medical alert systems, which they sold to a public company ten years later. After taking five years off, Mike started his second business in the construction industry, focusing on property damage repair. This company was sold in 2017 after being built into one that completed 300 +/- yearly jobs. Mike's goal is to start and self-fund a nonprofit focused on kids who "age out" of foster care and government facilities. The emphasis will be on experience-based training in mindset and how the brain works physically and psychologically, as well as hands-on training in finance, banking, nutrition, exercise, and entrepreneurship.
