On this special 350th Episode of the show, the Big Five Project returns as we enter the year PC Tunney has been looking forward to for a very long time. 1997 is here and so to is the Attitude Era. More or less anyway. We begin what will surely be an epic run of episodes here on the Big Five Project with Royal Rumble '97. It was a night that saw the WWE return to a stadium as over 61,000 fans packed the Alamodome in San Antonio to see the boyhood dream come true all over again as Shawn Michaels reclaimed the WWF Championship from Sycho Sid. But it was also the night that saw "Stone Cold' Steve Austin capture the first of his three Royal Rumble wins, and the most controversial of all of them as Austin was eliminate, but the refs never saw it. Austin's victory would set off a wild chain reaction of events that would completely shift the landscape for WrestleMania XIII. In reality, the entire evening was a who's-who of huge players in WWF at the time, even if they still were not quite fully aligned with the gimmicks that would launch the industry into the stratosphere. The Big Five Project returns as we bring 1996 to an epic conclusion. Before we get there, though, Rey Cash joins Dave and PC Tunney to take a look at the full card for WrestleMania 42, coming up in just a few days. What matches are we excited about, and what are we unsure of? From there, it is on to Survivor Series '96. The final PPV of 1996 delivered on many fronts. Emanating from Madison Square Garden, this event stood on the precipice of the emergence of the Attitude Era, and the crowd in New York City truly let Vince McMahon know what was working and what was not. On this memorable night, we saw Undertaker and Mankind end their storied rivalry, for a little while anyway. On the other hand, Bret "The Hitman" Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin were just beginning their rivalry. The Big Five Project returns for the first time in 2026, and in this installment, we are knee deep into all the action and stories from the summer of 1996. We first take a look at one of the most important moments in pro wrestling history, and the biggest heel turn ever....Hulk Hogan abandoning the Hulkamaniacs and forming the nWo at Bash at the Beach '96! From there it is on to Summer Slam '96. The event was largely mediocre, save for the final two matches. One saw an epic Boiler Room Brawl between Mankind and The Undertaker, including an unbelievable heel turn at the end of the match. Still celebrating his boyhood dream coming true, WWF Champion Shawn Michaels defended his title against the massive Vader. WE break down all the results for you and the larger impact this event had on the remainder of 1996. Plus, we cover all sorts of stories bubbling under the surface, such as Ahmed Johnson's very real and very scary injury, Sycho Sid's rise in popularity, Vince McMahon continuing to make questionable decisions and pushing appalling storylines, and a staggeringly low buy rate for this event. The Big Five Project returns to cover one of the worst PPVs of all time, King of the Ring 1995. Seriously, this is an event that kind of makes WrestleMania IX look good by comparison. Vince McMahon had all the elements in place to make this an event to remember. Well, it was an event to remember for all the wrong reasons. The bracket for the King of the Ring tournament was pretty solid. But bad matches and even worse booking decisions led us to the crowning of....King Mabel? Oh, and if that was not bad enough, Vince threw Bret "Hitman" Hart, the best wrestler in the company, into a meaningless Kiss My Foot match with Jerry "The King" Lawler. The fact that match was one of the better matches on the card tells you so much of what you need to know, and we have not event talked about the Main Event pitting the WWF Champion Diesel, and his tag team partner, Bam Bam Bigelow, against Sycho Sid and Tatanka in a match that redefined the word meaningless. If you are asking why....well you are not the only ones as we asked ourselves the same question over and over during this PPV that really epitomizes just how rough things were in WWF during the first half of 1995.
