2025 Ford Mustang GTD: 815-horsepower, 202 MPH Top Speed; Are We Nearing the End of Days?

America on the Road

This week's lead news story is the just-announced 2025 Ford Mustang GTD that Ford Motor Company says is the pinnacle of Mustang engineering. As we discuss in this week's episode, it's hard to argue that. The Mustang GTD delivers a mind-blowing 815 horsepower, 664 pound-feet of torque, and a riveting top speed of 202 mph. The fastest street-legal Mustang ever boasts advanced features that include active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a sophisticated suspension system. One goal of the new Mustang standard-bearer is achieving a sub-seven-minute lap at Nürburgring. Powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, the GTD appears to have the goods to do just that. With the dry-sump oil system, its engine offers enhanced lubrication during high-speed cornering and revs up to 7,650 rpm. If that's not enough, the Mustang GTD also incorporates a specialized drag reduction system that enables it to adjust its aerodynamics to optimize speed and grip based on driving conditions — a pretty nice trick. Co-Host Chris Teague and Host Jack Nerad will react to the newest Ford sup0ercar in this episode. In our road tests this week, Chris Teague will evaluate another vehicle from an American brand, the 2025 Dodge Hornet. The Hornet is designed to help Dodge turn the page from its musclecar — and some would say muscle-bound — past. Its goal is to maintain the brand's performance image but putting it in a new context. Chris and Jack will discuss if it lives up to that billing. The Ford Ranger Lariat 4x4 with the FX4 package is the subject of our other road test this week. The newest Ranger marks Ford's renewed interest in the midsize truck segment here in North America, and it comes amidst a flurry of new midsize pickups from both domestic and import automakers. Jack and Chris will describe how they believe it stacks up. This week, our special guest is Brad Arnold, a top-ranking Hyundai designer in North America. At a recent event in central California, he and Host Jack Nerad sat down for a lengthy discussion of the heavily revised 2025 Hyundai Tucson and 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz. We're sure you'll enjoy our discussion. In the news this week, we'll be talking about something that seems too good to be true. Would you lease a brand-new EV if the monthly payment was $20? That's happening right now, and we'll tell you more about it coming up. In other news, Volvo is ditching its vehicle subscription plan after several years of lackluster interest from the public. We'll have more on that, and we'll talk about a Toyota Prius hypermiler who just set a Guiness World record for fuel economy in a drive from coast to coast. So we have a lot of show for you this week. Thanks for joining us. And please don't forget to look for our content on YouTube and Rumble. If you subscribe, it will help us bring you even more. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

Married for over 50 years,George and Marty have navigated Broadway and Off-Broadway through its golden age andbeyond. With countless iconic productions behind them (The Fantasticks, Camelot, A LittleNight Music, Starting Here Starting Now...), George now holds the Guiness World's record forthe most performances played of a single production (The Phantom of the Opera) - but you'llhave to listen to learn the actual number...it's astounding! How can she recreate that feeling and tap into those emotions, creating a new baseline?

Deaf dogs don't get adopted, and we tend to feel really badly if our own dogs go deaf. What ignorant humans we are! On today's show we hear from leading voices in the deaf dog advocacy community, and they set us straight. Turns out that if you can train, care for, and live with a hearing-enabled dog, you'll love training, caring for, and living with a deaf dog, too. And yes, sign language for dogs is a real thing, and it works, just as well as voice commands. Deafness can even be a doggy superpower. These dogs can perform with zero distractions in high volume circumstances that would make a hearing-enabled dog spin out. In fact, deaf dogs have broken two Guinness World Records. It's a lot to take in, but we promise, you will reform your own attitude toward hearing after listening to our guests today … and you'll also have some simple ways to test your dog's hearing at home. Martin Parnell is a father, husband, grandfather, son, and brother. In 2001, Martin lost his wife Wendy to cancer.  Almost a year later, his brothers challenged him to run a marathon. As a highly competitive trio they decided to take it on. He strapped on his running shoes and quickly discovered how hard a challenge like this might be.  He was 47 years old. Little did he know that after he completed that first marathon in Calgary, he would go on to compete in countless other marathons, triathlons, Iron Mans and ultra-marathons. He challenged himself to the grueling Tour d'Afrique which is a roughly 11,000km supported bike race from Cairo to Cape Town. While traveling through some of Africa's poorest countries he observed how the children were momentarily lifted out of their circumstances as they played a pick-up game of soccer and other sports. When he returned, he conceived of a fundraising initiative for Right to Play, a global charitable organization that uses the power of sport and play to educate children who are facing adversity, poverty and conflict. He proposed to run 250 marathons in 2010 and raise $250, 000. On December 31st he achieved his goal of 250 marathons and raised roughly 330, 000 dollars forhttps://www.righttoplay.ca/en-ca/ ( Right to Play). It was a Guiness World Record. That propelled him to achieve 5 more Guiness World records by 2014 and raising at total of 1.3 million dollars for Right to Play. In 2015 a blot clot on his brain put him in hospital.  He had to learn to walk and speak again. While in hospital, he read the story of Zubrah, a young Afghan woman who ran and won the first https://www.marathonofafghanistan.com/ (Secret Marathon )for women organized by https://freetorun.org/ (Free to Run). Always needing a goal, he promised himself that if he could get himself healthy again, he would participate in the second Secret Marathon. What can we learn that's relatable from a modern day action man, who trained as a marine commando and sniper, who runs into active volcanoes, risks his life interviewing Mexican Narcos, survived Ebola and broke the Guiness World record for rowing across the Atlantic Ocean?Well it turns out quite an incredible amount!Aldo Kane is an Adventurer, Explorer, a Fellow at the Royal Geographic Society, Producer, Author & TV Presenter with a penchant for the world's most dangerous, extreme and remote locations. Aldo was recently the on-screen Expedition Leader for National Geographic's latest flag-ship feature length Natural History series One Strange Rock, hosted by Hollywood star, Will Smith. This saw Aldo lead a prominent American Scientist deep inside one of Africa's most dangerous volcanoes whilst it was erupting and the description of this in his book “Lessons on the Edge” is absolutely riveting! Over the last 7 years Aldo has worked on many ground-breaking (and as he describes them “fairly tasty”) TV shows! He's been held at gunpoint, charged by black Rhino, abseiled into an active volcano, escaped Ebola and dived on Captain Kidd's pirate ship, and that's just the last year or two. Aldo has appeared with Hollywood A-Listers like Tom Hardy, Adrien Brody & Henry Cavill in some of the most extreme environments on earth. We talk about so many themes today:Mental fitnessCompartmentalisingFlow statesConsistency over Skill as the secret to successStoicismGroundingA bit of background if you haven't seen him on one of his many TV shows. Aldo joined the Royal Marine Commandos at the age of just 16 and went on to become one of the youngest Elite Commando Reconnaissance Snipers in the UK armed forces. No mean feat with the hardest, and longest infantry training in the world. Aldo saw active military service from Northern Ireland to the Middle East and became a survival expert in many environments. As you will hear today, he's probably one of the humblest and nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of interviewing. Calm, collected, jovial, chatty and altogether ‘grounded', as I would describe it. I could have chatted to him easily for hours, but instead I recommend you either read or listen to his book “Lessons from the Edge” that you can find in all good bookstores. A fantastic book for Christmas, it is perfect escapism. Just a bit of warning, the language is a bit salty on this episode. So just take care if any kids are listening in. And remember check out thedoctorskitchen.com newsletter where I share weekly mindset tips, many of which Aldo puts into practice when he's in extreme environments, such as breathwork and reframing.
