Lily Phillips, a 23-year-old from Derbyshire, made headlines after claiming to have slept with 101 men in a single day. She rose to household-name status largely thanks to OnlyFans. Lily Phillips says what she's doing is her choice and that she's a feminist, but some feminists are worried about what that says about young people's attitudes to female empowerment. CJ Ramone aka Christopher Joseph Ward's ALLEGED legal testimony has entered the broiling Ramones estate feud between Linda Ramone and Mickey Leigh. If real, it paints a damning, weighted picture of Joey's relationship with his brother. I am so very curious to hear what Marky Ramone might have to say about all of this. www.frumess.com FRUMESS is POWERED by www.riotstickers.com/frumess JOIN THE PATREON FOR LESS THAN A $2 CUP OF COFFEE!! https://www.patreon.com/Frumess

Since this is our episode on One Tree Hill S3E19, I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me, let's write these show notes in the style of Fall Out Boy song titles. Here we go. This is the one where Hot Uncle Cooper (Michael Trucco) and his biceps return to Tree Hill and so does his sister Deb (Barbara Alyn Woods) and it's super interesting for both of them because Cooper is apparently dating a 26-year-old model who is house-sitting for her parents but it's actually the 17-year-old high school student Rachel (Danneel Ackles) which also seemingly drives a wedge between her and Mouth (Lee Norris) who has romantic feelings for her and is defending her against Brooke's (Sophia Bush) very problematic fat-shaming campaign and also this is interesting for Deb because she comes back only to be freezed out by her girlfriend Karen (Moira Kelly) who is still mad that Deb started the fire which caused Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) to try to save Dan (Paul Johannson) but all is well because Whitey (Barry Corbin) gives her a much-needed pep talk, which helps her better support Lucas after he tells her about his HCM oh and while all of this is happening, Nathan (James Lafferty) and Haley (Bethany Joy Lenz) have to take a test to prove their love for each other for some reason in a random and unnecessary plot point and Peyton (Hilarie Burton Morgan) decides to visit Pete Wentz but in a somewhat shocking twist, she ends up visiting Jake Jaglieski (Bryan Greenberg) and omg it's so romantic. Does anyone even read these show notes? Because that was pretty good content. Anyway, our chat on this episode includes: The connection to the Fall Out Boy song the episode is named after Kaitlyn's Lit Crit for the episode's opening George Eliot quote, “There is no despair so absolute as that which comes with the first moments of our first great sorrow, when we have not yet known what it is to have suffered and healed, to have despaired and recovered hope.” Rachel's issues with self-esteem, Brooke's revenge plot not equaling the crime, and the episode's weird overall stance on plastic surgery and beauty The show's creator as a stand-in for Mouth and how we reconcile our feelings about Mouth's character arc through “death of the author” Referring to characters as unattractive in a script and whether that can be offensive to the real-life actor playing that character Michael Trucco's body…of work Cooper's character arc and how it influences Lucas The return of DebRoe How this episode may be one of the only episodes of One Tree Hill to address race issues…and it's not the best Peyton's romance with Pete from Fall Out Shelter The epic CODA to Gavin DeGraw's “We Belong Together” Be sure to leave us a review on Apple Podcasts! Django Nudo and Smut Peddler get their Lederhosen on (proverbially) to celebrate the best of German vintage smut. But first they toast Cultpix's 888th title, the favourite "Death Race 2000" (1975). Not just ooompha-oompha music, but some catchy tunes for this week's celluloid Kraut fest. The Kronhausens x 2:Sexologists Dr Eberhard and Dr Phyllis Kronhausen are Germany's 'white coaters' that give education respectability to scenes of sex and smut in two films. "Freedom to Love" (1969) looks at lesbianism, illegal abortion, swing clubs and Hugh Hefner; while "Sex Freedom in Germany" (1970) also features pornographers Owalt Kolle and Beate Uhse. The Sylt Connection x 2The island of Sylt as a film subject is an excuse for lots of nakedness. "Naked and Free" (1971) not only includes naked Fräulines, but also spliced inserts of Jake La Motta and Rocky Graziano! "Ready, Willing & Able" (1971) is about a Miss Sylt contest (clothing not required) at the Eden Playboy Club. Costume films x 3Historic and literary settings were a great excuse for boobies on display. "How to Play the Seduction Game" (1970) is a historic sex comedy loosely based on Werner Zibaso's French classic. "Teach Me" (1972) is a series of erotic vignettes about the sexploits of Lieutenant Ferdinand with Christine Schuberth and Astrid Boner [sic!] It has a weirdly contemporary poster and international titles such as "Ferdinand - tjuren som inte ville" (Sweden) and "The Games Schoolgirls Play" (USA). In "The Sinful Bed" (1973) we hear from the bed about the romping it has experienced over the ages. A good double bill with Mac Ahlberg's "The Bed" (1965). The Sweden Connection x 3"Daughters of Joy" (1968) is a period piece (of ass) in the 'Sexy Susan' (Frau Wirtin) series with Teri Tordai in the lead and also starring Harald Leipnitz from Swedish sex comedy "Do You Believe in Swedish Sin?" (1970). "Moonlighting Mistress" (1971) is the strangely translated title of the German original "I Slept with My Murderess". "The Erotic Adventures of Hansel and Gretel" (1970) had punny international titles such as "Hans og Grete i den forsexede skov" (Denmark), "Hands off Gretel!" (UK), "The Naked Wytche" (USA) and weird one like "Gymni se mia Rolls Royce" (Greece) and"Favole calde... per svedesi bollenti" (Italy), even though nothing Swedish about the sexy Grimm fairytale.OthersAlso "The Love Keys" (1971), "Massage Parlor '73" (1972), "Office Girls" (1972), "Run Virgin Run" (1973) and "All Around Service" (1974).

The British Army is recruiting gamers, 'phone zombies', and 'selfie addicts' as it broadens its skills for modern military ops. But who are the young men getting these jobs, and what impact does it have on their lives? Former Grenadier Guardsman Julian Perreira served as a J-TAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) in Afghanistan. As he monitored a 60-inch TV screen relaying live feeds from surveillance balloons and drones, it was his job to decide when and where to deploy ‘kinetic effects’ that could, and did, kill people. It was, he tells Olly, ‘a bit like playing a computer game’.The experience inflicted lasting damage on his mental health; now treated with CBT only thanks to the philanthropy of a fellow veteran. ---Julian is now a journalist who blogs at jakbrew.co.uk, where he has also established an outdoor drinkware company. If YOU have a story you’d like to share with Olly and our listeners, we’d love to hear from you: please reach out using the Feedback form on our website, modernmann.co.uk.---Elsewhere, for this month’s Zeitgeist, Ollie Peart chats to couples who are ‘child-free by choice’.Along the way he discovers ‘antinatalism’, swots up on some intriguing statistics about parental unhappiness, and disrupts a childfree sub-Reddit that definitely ISN’T ‘a movement’.If YOU would like to challenge Ollie to explore a current trend for a future edition of the show, get in touch via the Feedback form on our website, modernmann.co.uk ---Meanwhile, down the Foxhole, Alix Fox - fresh from judging a talent competition that is unlikely to be televised - considers the dilemma of a listener who ‘bears down’ during orgasm, frequently finding herself the victim of inconvenient farts. If YOU have a question of sex you’d like Alix to answer on a future edition of the show, don’t be shy - send it in via our Feedback form on our website, modernmann.co.uk.Our thanks to pelvic floor physiotherapist Elaine Miller, AKA ‘Gussie Grippers’. If you think you may be suffering from a hypertonic pelvic floor, resources and support are available via the International Pelvic Pain Society and the Pelvic Pain Support Network.---Music this month comes from Modern Mann favourites Another Sky and their new song, ‘Fell In Love With The City’. Another Sky are a London-based four piece, comprised of Catrin Vincent, Jack Gilbert, Naomi Le Dune, and Max Doohan. Their songs manage to be anthemic and urgent, tender and vulnerable at the same time. Which makes sense; they see the ways in which mental health and the state of the world are interwoven, often leaving our generation in a state of overwhelm. I Slept on the Floor, the band’s debut album, covers the many ills of the modern world, offering a sense of hope through each call to action.
In our first episode of Girl, I Slept in My Makeup you will hear from three sisters: Kristen, Megan and Lauren, about why we decided to start this podcast and our daily journey to let go of Comparison in our life. You will hear some real life stories and learn more about each of us.
Song of the Flower I am a kind word uttered and repeated By the voice of Nature; I am a star fallen from the Blue tent upon the green carpet. I am the daughter of the elements With whom Winter conceived; To whom Spring gave birth; I was Reared in the lap of Summer and I Slept in the bed of Autumn. At dawn I unite with the breeae To announce the coming of light; At eventide I join the birds In bidding the light farewell. The plains are decorated with My beautiful colors, and the air Is scented with my fragrance. As I embrace Slumber the eyes of Night watch over me, and as I Awaken I stare at the sun, which is The only eye of the day.~ I drink dew for wine, and hearken to The voices of the birds, and dance To the rhythmic swaying of the grass. I am the lover's gift; I am the wedding wreath; I am the memory of a moment of happiness; I am the last gift of the living to the dead; I am a part of joy and a part of sorrow. But I look up high to see only the light, And never look down to see my shadow. This is wisdom which man must learn.

Today's Guest: Legs McNeil, co-author, I Slept with Joey Ramone: A Punk Rock Family Memoir Order I Slept with Joey Ramone: A Punk Rock Family Memoir by clicking the book cover above! Most people know that the “Ramones” name was for the stage, although few sought out and became their stage persona more completely than the former Jeffry Hyman, a spindly, troubled boy from Queens. If you’re a Ramones fan—or just fascinated with stories of familial disfunction—you’re going to find the new book, I Slept With Joey Ramone: A Family Memoir, an irresistible attraction. LEGS McNEIL AUDIO EXCERPT: "All along, Mickey was writing songs with Joey and never credited. Years and years of frustration came to light when Bud Light used 'Blitzkrieg Bop' in a commercial. I don't think he wanted a lot of money; he wanted recognition. He was there in the studio (when the song was originally recorded), harmonizing with Joey because their voices were almost identical. It was kinda like The Beach Boys, with Carl and Brian Wilson harmonizing with each other." The story was written by Joey’s younger brother, Mitchell Hyman, a.k.a. Mickey Leigh, with help from Legs McNeil, a long-time friend of both brothers and the author of the classic music history, Please Kill Me: The Uncensored History of Punk. Legs, today making his second appearance on Mr. Media, got to know Joey and Mickey in the late ‘70s when he and John Holmstrom co-founded the legendary Punk magazine. I got to know Legs through his later contributions to Spin magazine. His writing always comes with a twist; he’s never dull. Today's Guest:Legs McNeil, author, Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk, I Slept with Joey Ramone (MAY 2008) When Spin magazine started, its staff included two fascinating characters. First was Bob Guccione, Jr., the magazine’s founder and namesake son of the publisher of Penthouse. And then there was Spin’s senior editor, Legs McNeil. Legs McNeil!?! What the hell kind of stupid name was that for a journalist? I mean, I grew up with kids named "Plinky," "Jiggs," and "Doine," but "Legs"? Well, let me tell you, that guy Legs McNeil could write. Some months, the only copy worth reading in Spin was under his byline. It wasn’t until years later that I learned that in the early 1970s, McNeil was a co-founder, with John Holmstrom and Ged Dunn, of Punk Magazine, which gave name to an entire musical generation. McNeil has since written two remarkable non-fiction books, Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk, and The Other Hollywood: The Uncensored Oral History of the Porn Film Industry He’s also involved in a new documentary series unspooling across VH1, Spike, and the Sundance Channel in May called "SEX: The Revolution." Because of the nature of these topics, if you’re easily offended – or under 18 - stop listening now. Thank you. Punk Watch this exclusive Mr. Media interview with John Doe by clicking on the video player above! Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience full of aging punks who no longer take pride in torn fishnet stockings and who are using safety pins in ways they never dreamed of in 1978 … in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! John Doe and Exene Cervenka probably never dreamed, when they met at a Venice, California, poetry workshop in 1976, that one day they would be regarded as the core of a musical movement that shook, stirred and ripped corporate rock. I didn’t say they ultimately prevented its rise – I wish they had – but as co-founders of the LA punk band X, they built one of the first bulwarks against the tide of homogenized rock ‘n’ roll. JOHN DOE podcast excerpt: "X — our music — was always accessible. We weren’t trying to piss people off; we just did it naturally. There was no ‘marketing’; the term barely existed. The way you were DIY in those days was you went out, met people, lived your life, did your thing. I have no regrets; that’s the way you get cancer." The Westerner by John Doe. And even if youth culture didn’t ultimately heed their warnings of what lay ahead, Doe and Cervenka left us a legacy of Americana, rockabilly and rawness that stands up to whatever today’s generation of next big things might offer. Manhattan had its Ramones, Television and the New York Dolls; London produced the Sex Pistols, The Clash and Madness. It was an era that captured what rock ‘n’ roll should be: revolutionary, off-putting, controversial, against-the-grain. JOHN DOE podcast excerpt: "(X's 2016 appearance on NPR's 'Fresh Air' with Terry Gross) was not the first time people have tried to explain X's harmony in somewhat strange or even a backhanded compliment. Exene didn't know traditional harmony. She would get to that at times, then she would stray. She just sang what she heard." Doe captures the LA punk sound in his new book, Under the Big Black Sun: A Personal History of L.A. Punk, which he wrote and edited with Tom DeSavia, and essays contributed by Henry Rollins of Black Flag, Jane Weidlin and Charlotte Caffrey of The Go-Gos, Dave Alvin of The Blasters, Robert Lopez – El Vez – of The Zeros, and his long-time musical partner and former domestic partner, Exene Cervenka. (And yes, I won’t miss an opportunity to point out that Exene grew up here in St. Petersburg.) The book is a great companion piece to Legs McNeil’s Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk. In addition to his new book, Doe is promoting a new album, The Westerner, which vocals from Blondie’s Debbie Harry on the song “Go Baby Go.” Singing and Playing: John Doe & Exene Cervenka. Key interview moments: • 4:14 After appearing on NPR’s “Fresh Air” with Terry Gross, who described X’s melodies as “being a little off” and that its notes “become flat in unusual places,” X co-founder John Doe shakes off the “backhanded compliment” and explains Exene Cervenka’s approach; • 20:00 Doe compares the nascent 1970s punk scenes in New York, London, and Los Angeles; • 37:30 It wasn’t that X didn’t want to be successful and commercial, Doe explains, it’s just the band didn’t fit well in its era the way Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Green Day would later fit in theirs.
