Discover why hormones are off and what's really driving the imbalance. In this episode, we break down five root causes — from gut dysfunction and disrupted sleep to chronic stress, appetite dysregulation, and omega-3 deficiency — and walk through what you can actually do to fix it. FEATURED PRODUCT Berberine is a powerful botanical compound that acts as a natural GLP-1 supporter — the same metabolic pathway targeted by medications like Ozempic — helping regulate blood sugar, reduce insulin resistance, and restore appetite signaling from the gut. Since metabolic hormones like insulin and leptin are the first to derail your entire hormone cascade, Berberine directly addresses one of the deepest root causes discussed in this episode. It also supports gut microbiome diversity, making it a foundational tool for anyone working to reclaim hormonal balance naturally.

Your body after a baby was never a calorie problem. It is a metabolic one. In this Her Stack episode I am walking you through exactly how to restore your metabolism so body composition follows. The goal is not weight loss. The goal is metabolic restoration. Body comp is downstream. I am breaking down the four drivers that actually run body composition (insulin, thyroid, sleep, growth hormone), the four pillars to address them (nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, peptides), and the exact peptide sequencing for women. Plus my honest take on GLP-1s including semaglutide, tirzepatide, and retatrutide, where they actually fit, and why microdosing makes more sense than chasing the scale. I also share what nobody talks about. Eating less postpartum often makes body composition worse. Breastfeeding is sequencing, not failure. Growth hormone is the layer women never hear about, so they plateau and blame their age when it was a fixable signal the whole time. Episode 2829 - In this wide-ranging and practically grounded Monday episode, Ted and Austin Broer connect weight training longevity research, statin alternatives including Berberine and nattokinase, B12 cognitive protection, magnesium's role in vitamin D activation, US military strategic failures in the Middle East, and ashwagandha cortisol management into a broadcast that delivers both urgent health science and pointed geopolitical analysis.
Sulforaphane, Detox Pathways, and the Science of Microplastic Removal Microplastics are building up inside your brain, blood, and reproductive tissue, and most detox protocols do nothing to remove them. This episode gives you the cellular science behind why toxins accumulate, which three detox pathways control your ability to excrete them, and what the latest research shows actually moves microplastics, heavy metals, BPA, and benzene out of your body.. -Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR -For next week, 25% off all Mara Labs products when you go to www.mara-labs.com/DAVE and use code DAVE at checkout. Host Dave Asprey sits down with Dr. John Gildea, a Johns Hopkins-trained PhD with 60 scientific publications and over 20 NIH-funded studies, and David Roberts, co-founder of Mara Labs and co-creator of BrocElite, the only naturally derived stable form of sulforaphane available in a capsule. Together they bring decades of research-backed biohacking and functional medicine insight into one of the most pressing longevity conversations of our time. They break down the lysosome, your cell's built-in incinerator, and explain exactly why it gets clogged with microplastics, advanced glycation end products, and other toxins that won't break down. New research shows that sulforaphane triggers a process called lysosomal surface translocation, which releases those trapped particles so your body can finally excrete them. An in-house Mara Labs study confirmed the excretion pathway: microplastics come out in feces. In the original study, the individual measured the highest microplastic levels ever recorded, and a repeat study a year later showed dramatically lower baseline microplastic levels, suggesting consistent use compounds the benefit over time. You'll Learn: Why microplastics accumulate inside lysosomes and what sulforaphane does to release them How the three detox pathways, glutathione, glucuronidation, and sulfation, work together to remove every major class of toxin What an in-house study revealed about how and where microplastics actually leave the body How toxic estrogen metabolites form and why sulforaphane is the most effective natural tool to reroute them Why berberine supports sleep optimization, ketosis, and blocks a cancer growth pathway most drugs cannot touch How sulforaphane boosts BDNF and neuroplasticity at the cellular level What microplastic sources in your home, including your dryer, rugs, and receipts, are doing to your toxin load daily Why losing weight releases stored toxins and what to take to protect your brain and metabolism during fat loss How sulforaphane activates the same AMPK longevity pathways triggered by fasting without restricting food Thank you to our sponsors! - iRestore | Reverse hair loss at www.irestore.com/DAVE and get exclusive savings on the iRestore Elite, use code DAVE - HeartMath | Go to https://www.heartmath.com/dave to save 15% off. - Timeline | Go to timeline.com/dave and you'll get an additional 20% off your first month - Our Place | Stop cooking with toxic cookware and upgrade to Our Place today. Think energy, digestion, and weight. In this episode, Nurse Doza breaks down berberine — the metabolism-supporting supplement that helps regulate blood sugar, support a healthy insulin response, and improve cholesterol (LDL, HDL, total). Discover why MSW Nutrition's Berberine Plus is 5x more absorbable in the gut, how to dose it morning and night, and why it works at the level of your gut microbiome. The berberine supplement your metabolism has been waiting for. Featured Partner: MSW Nutrition — Berberine Plus MSW Nutrition's Berberine Plus delivers dihydroberberine (DHB) — the bioactive, highly absorbable form of berberine sourced from Berberis aristata — so you get berberine's full metabolic benefits at a fraction of the dose, without the gut upset that comes from mega-dosing standard berberine. That enhanced absorption is exactly why it's the berberine supplement Nurse Doza reaches for to support blood sugar, digestion, and weight — as discussed in this episode.
Episode 2826 - In this wide-ranging and practically grounded episode, Ted and Austin Broer connect ivermectin's cancer research suppression, the Lakeland data center community victory, 9/11 hologram theory, Ebola outbreak immune guidance, Berberine as a GLP-1 alternative, and the magnesium brain food product of the week into a broadcast that delivers both urgent health science and sharp cultural and geopolitical awareness. The episode opens with Ted presenting the suppressed ivermectin cancer research, walking through its documented antiparasitic mechanisms that disrupt cancer cell metabolism and its transformation from Nobel Prize-winning drug to government-blacklisted treatment following a coordinated smear campaign by health agencies. Ted's personal account of a neighbor recovering from lung cancer after antiparasitic treatment reinforces what he frames as one of the most consequential medical suppression stories of the past decade.
Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Jacquie: My 65-year-old mom was diagnosed with osteoporosis via DEXA (spine -2, hip -3). She's had a hip replacement & later suffered a fall that fractured her femur near the implant. Listened to your other podcasts & I wonder are there cases where the body can't rebuild bone without conventional intervention? Is there research on this? Her doctor recommended injections, saying vitamins alone won't restore bone to the needed level—how valid is that? She does quarterly detoxes & takes DNS, omega3s, vitamin D/K2 drops, & CalMag. She plans to add Daily Bone Support, reduce inflammatory foods & alcohol & increase weight-bearing exercise as able. Testing suggests she follow a limited CBO protocol. Not giving medical advice, what would you do/look into if this was your family member? Thank you! Lynne: I don't see eggs on the food list. Is it ok to eat eggs after the detox? If so, how often. I can get fresh eggs from a local farm and I love them. Drew: Dr Cabral, I heard on another podcast (Rhonda Patrick) there was a research study that showed high speed blenders like Blentech and Vitamix can expose you to microplastic due to ingredients hitting the side of the plastic container. this is increased if using frozen ingredients such as blueberries or ice. i have been making a smoothie for breakfast for almost ten years. i would love to get your take on this. if this is true? should my highspeed blender be replaced (Blentech does not have a Stainless steel or glass container option). should someone who may have been exposed take any extra steps to detox? thank you so much Lisa: I seen your post on berberine and was wondering when is the best time of day to take it? Should I take it with every meal or just once a day? Should I take it before eating or after? You said it can help with fat burning even while sleeping so should I take before bed? Should I avoid taking it with my pre workout meal? Thank you in advance Lisa Jill: Hello, thank you for your informative and educational emails. Looking for the best applications of using Proteolytic Enzymes vs. Niacin for lowering cholesterol and triglycerides and increasing HDL if calcium score is zero. What would the recommended doses be of each? Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3754 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? Hosts: Ed Jones (Owner – Nutrition World) & Clint Powell A variety of topics all related to living a healthy life Presented by: Nutrition World www.nutritionw.com Broadcasting from the Nooga Dentistry Studio www.noogadentistry.com Production of: Whitfield Media Group www.vitalhealthradio.com Title: All About Peptides, & The Good, Bad & Ugly of GLP-1's [0:00:00] Ed's Restaurant Story & Healthy Eating Choices Ed's recurring bit: “Where did Ed eat this week?” Long‑time favorite restaurant Epicurean. Discussion of consistent healthy ordering and making good choices at long‑standing, family‑owned restaurants. [0:03:13] Building a Health “Team” & Ed's Top Learning Resources Tease of today's main topic: peptides with local expert Noel Lawson, NP. Ed stresses “team approach” to aging—no single practitioner has all the answers. Learners vs. non‑learners: why ongoing self‑education is critical for health. Ed's 4 favorite online resources: Mercola.com – more cutting‑edge, sometimes controversial content. DrJockers.com – accessible, visual education on ailments and nutrients. GreenMedInfo.com – indexed medical literature backing natural claims. Nutrition World Instagram – short, practical health “snippets”. Story: Nutrition World wins a surprise $10,000 award from Ancient Nutrition for #1 sales growth in the U.S., tied to belief in product quality. [0:10:38] Introducing Noel Lawson & “What Are Peptides?” Introduction of Noel Lawson, NP (Double Bridges Health & Wellness), now practicing on the Nutrition World campus. Noel's background: Transition from traditional medicine to functional medicine due to patient frustration, worsening chronic illness, and provider burnout. Goal: more prevention and root‑cause care. Orthopedic background led her to peptides. What is a peptide? Peptides are like the body's Morse code—specific chains of amino acids acting as signals. Under ~40 amino acids = peptide; longer chains = protein. Body breaks down dietary protein into amino acids and re‑assembles them into peptides as needed (e.g., for repair). As we age, the body produces fewer peptides, which is why we heal slower and are more prone to injury and inflammation. [0:19:26] Functional Medicine + Peptides: Approach, Expectations & Use Noel's approach: Combines functional medicine with peptides. Peptides only work well if the materials (sleep, nutrients, stress management, movement) are in place. Uses comprehensive labs to optimize baseline health first. Delivery & protocols: ~90% of peptides are injectable (tiny insulin‑type needle, usually daily). Some oral options exist Local injections near the injury area Expectations & timelines First 2–3 weeks: less inflammation, modest improvement in pain, sleep, and energy. 6–8 weeks: improved range of motion and strength. After 3 months: realistic minimum for true tissue change; peptides can't shortcut normal cell‑turnover timelines. [0:21:41] Specific Peptides & Treatment Logistics High‑demand musculoskeletal peptides: BPC‑157 and TB‑500: commonly used for tendons, ligaments, muscle and injury recovery. Growth hormone related peptides: Examples: samorelin, CJC, ipamorelin, tesamorelin. Stimulate the pituitary to release natural human growth hormone (HGH) rather than supplying exogenous HGH. Potential benefits: lean muscle mass, better body composition, cardiometabolic support. Monitored via IGF‑1 levels to avoid excess. PT‑141 for sexual health: Crosses the blood–brain barrier and activates pleasure/desire centers. Can cause nausea in some people; alternative forms (nasal spray, sublingual troche) may reduce side effects. How Noel works with patients: Website: doublebridgeswellness.com Contact form → email → optional free 20‑minute expectations call to see if there's a good fit. 1‑hour new patient visits, not rushed; she practices on the Nutrition World campus. [0:35:01] GLP‑1 Drugs (Ozempic, Trulicity, Mounjaro): Good, Bad & Ugly Case study: 65‑year‑old woman with pre‑existing gastroparesis put on Trulicity. Developed severe vomiting, dehydration, abdominal pain; was initially reassured to “get used to it.” Second dose led to life‑threatening pancreatitis, requiring hospitalization. Later prescribed Mounjaro by same clinic despite this history. The “Good” of GLP‑1s: In Curt's clinic, used selectively for: Poorly controlled diabetes (A1c > 10, average sugars in the 300s). Significant obesity. Can lower blood sugar and drive weight loss, by suppressing appetite The “Bad”: Common GI side effects (up to ~50% of users): Nausea, vomiting, constipation. Worsening gastroparesis (slow gut motility). Rapid weight loss often includes loss of muscle and bone, not just fat—hurts longevity and functional strength. Ozempic face: gaunt facial appearance from aggressive fat/muscle loss. Risk of hypoglycemia Visual issues, including increased macular degeneration risk. Psychiatric concerns: Emerging data on increased suicidal ideation, especially notable because trials excluded psychiatric patients. The “Ugly”: Pancreatitis, gallbladder problems. Thyroid tumors in some models. Possible cardiac atrophy. Massive growth in use: tens of millions prescribed, with many discontinuing within a year due to side effects or cost. Risk that people treat GLP‑1s as a “magic bullet” without nutrition or lifestyle change—and regain ~85% of lost weight after stopping. Curt's conclusion: GLP‑1s should be reserved for specific, high‑risk cases and paired with close coaching. For most people, there are safer, natural options. [0:50:12] “Nature's Ozempic,” Gut Health & Upcoming Events Ed and Curt on supporting GLP‑1 pathways naturally: Berberine – “nature's Ozempic” for blood sugar and metabolic support. Akkermansia (probiotic strain) – gut health, metabolic benefits, GLP‑1 stimulation. Butyrate – short‑chain fatty acid that: Supports gut lining / leaky gut repair. Improves colon health and may help increase GLP‑1. Ed reports best bowel function of his life using 2 caps/day. People who start GLP‑1s often increase supplement use, but tend to stop supplements when the drug stops. Coaching is needed so they maintain nutrition and supplementation after GLP‑1 discontinuation. Practical tips & announcements: Colonoscopies: clear protein drinks are now typically allowed on prep day—can help preserve muscle and stabilize blood sugar. Upcoming Lunch & Learn (online): Topic: “The Microbiome's Impact on Longevity”. Format: Instagram Live (@NutritionWorld), Tuesday, May 5 at 12:15 PM. Upcoming in‑person lecture at Nutrition World campus: Topic: “Taming the Yeast: Candida‑Reducing Strategies”. Thursday, May 21 at 5:30 PM. Registration via nutritionw.com → Events. Closing: Ed and Clint wrap up, reiterating their mission of clear, actionable health guidance and noting the show will be out on major podcast platforms. The post Radio Show / Podcast – May 3, 2026 first appeared on Vital Health Radio.
Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Emma: Hi Dr Cabral! I have a question regarding the sclera of the eye. I have never had really nice white sclera, even though I do seasonal FM detoxes (8 years now), coffee enemas, gallbladder flushes etc (I am an IHP2) I have also run my genetics, and I have 'optimal' detox genes. I was wondering how much of this is genetic as my parents are the same. They are definitely not yellow, but they're just not bright white. I consider myself healthy. I have had mold toxicity, heavy metals, candida/bacterial overgrowth in the past, but I think I have cleared most of it all out although I would like to retest soon. I have friends who have the whitest scleras even though they've never done any detoxing in their life :) Would love your thoughts and thank you for being such an incredible teacher! Stacey: Hi Dr.Cabral! I'm almost done with my IHP2 & I'm constantly researching things. Lately I've been reading a lot about B1 and its benefits for people who suffer from ibs, diabetes, thyroid issues etc. Now I know the question is..why are we all so low in b1 to begin with? But I'd like to get your thoughts on this recent rise in b1 popularity. Is it something to consider or just another trending supplement and are there benefits to taking benfotiamine vs thiamine? Thanks so much! Hope you're doing well. Darrel: Hey, Dr Cabral. I saw a report stating the leading cause of throat cancer in the USA is now HPV mainly from performing oral sex. Not tobacco. Not alcohol. Aside abstention, is there any means to prevent that from happening? I'm seeing most practitioners recommending HPV vaccine. Will that be necessary? Nicole: Hi Dr. Cabral, I am a 41 year old female. I listen to your podcast daily and just ordered my 7 day detox, I cannot wait to start it. My question is.. what do you think I should do for my symptoms? I have a ferritin level of 5 and I am already taking iron(bovine)For the last few months I have had unexplained hives. I get them out of nowhere sometimes when I hold something on my arm or something is tight on my body. I have also had a swollen lymph node for about 5 months and have been to several doctors. No answers. I had a positive ANA test, however all the other tests for autoimmune came back negative. The ENT is not concerned about the lymph node said it is not that enlarged. But I feel it and it bothers me. I take your Berberine, B complex and Infla-sooth. Along with iron and Glutathione Grace: How do I know if I'm over-supplementing? I take a whole list of supplements with each meal. It seems like 40% of my water intake throughout the day is just to take supplements. Especially with breakfast (as I take the supplements one at a time). At breakfast, I take iron (dried beef liver), fish oil, vitamin B complex, methyl folate, myoinositol (for insulin resistance due to PCOS), a probiotic, fiber and vitamin D. Dinner has the myoinositol, fiber, and iron. Lunch has the fiber and iron plus a multivitamin, vitamin C, n-acetyl cysteine, and a turmeric supplement. It seems like a lot. Am I over-supplementing? Episode 2789 - In this densely packed episode, Ted and Austin Broer connect pharmaceutical dangers, escalating geopolitical conflict, Epstein file revelations, and foundational nutrition science into one of their most urgent broadcasts in recent weeks. The episode opens with Austin delivering a pointed breakdown of GLP-1 drug risks, documenting the connection between these widely prescribed weight loss medications and accelerating bone density loss, thyroid cancer, and pancreatitis. The hosts make a strong case for natural alternatives including Berberine for blood sugar stabilization and emphasize that diet, exercise, and targeted supplementation consistently outperform pharmaceutical dependency without the cascading side effects.
Fatty liver and insulin resistance form a dangerous loop driving diabetes, dementia, and colon cancer. Learn what causes this cycle, what happens when it keeps running, and how diet, fasting, the Mediterranean diet, and targeted supplements can break it for good. FEATURED PRODUCT The Good Poops Protocol — combining Liver Boost, Gut Powder, and Berberine Plus — directly targets both sides of the fatty liver and insulin resistance loop discussed in this episode. Liver Boost supports your liver's ability to process fats and manage detoxification, Berberine Plus has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and lower pro-inflammatory cytokines, and Gut Powder addresses the digestive consequences — bloating, constipation, and gut dysfunction — that compound when this loop goes unchecked. Together, these three work on the liver, the blood sugar, and the gut simultaneously, which is exactly what this episode makes clear you need.

Host: Unique DoctorGuest: Dr. Jason Hawrelak (Microbiome Specialist & Educator)Episode SummaryIn this episode, Unique Doctor sits down with renowned clinician and researcher Dr. Jason Hawrelak to discuss why the modern trend of "carpet-bombing" the gut with antimicrobials like Berberine and Oregano oil may be doing more harm than good. They explore the nuances of Akkermansia, the dangers of hidden chemicals in natural supplements, and how to use fiber and targeted herbs as "snipers" to restore a healthy internal ecosystem.Key Information & HighlightsThe Problem with "Natural" Antimicrobials: Many popular herbal treatments (Berberine, Oregano Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract) are non-selective. They kill beneficial Bifidobacteria and butyrate-producers, often leading to a "bloom" of pathogens like E. coli and Klebsiella shortly after treatment. The "Sniper" Herb – Pomegranate Husk: Unlike broad-spectrum killers, Pomegranate Husk acts selectively. It inhibits pathogens and fungi while actually encouraging the growth of beneficial microbes. The Oxygen/pH Dynamic: You can suppress pathogens without "killing" them by changing the environment. Pathogens hate acidity and oxygen-free environments. Feeding your gut fiber creates Butyrate, which sucks oxygen out of the gut and lowers the pH to a level pathogens cannot tolerate.Akkermansia Insights: If you are missing Akkermansia muciniphila, current supplements may not "colonize" you permanently. However, red polyphenols (Pomegranate, Dragon Fruit, Cranberry) and prebiotics like Inulin can drastically increase levels if the species is still present. The Probiotic Myth: Probiotics rarely "recolonize" a healthy gut. They are transient travelers that perform specific tasks (e.g., speeding up transit time or producing GABA for anxiety) but usually don't stay forever.Recommended ResourcesThe Corn/Quinoa Test: Eat corn or black quinoa and track how many hours/days it takes to appear in the stool (Optimal is 18–30 hours).Microbiome Testing: Look for Shotgun Metagenomics or 16S DNA testing rather than basic PCR pathogen tests. Dr. Hoffman continues his conversation with Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council (ABC).
Herbal Medicine, Quality Control, and Adulteration Prevention: Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council (ABC), recounts his entry into herbalism via vegetarianism in 1968, off-grid living, and starting a wholesale herb business in 1974 before shifting to nonprofit education, research, advocacy, and quality control. The discussion covers the evolution from teas and tinctures to standardized extracts, the complexity and synergy of multiple constituents, and how standardization supports quality control and therapeutic consistency. Blumenthal explains ABC's Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program and its free, peer-reviewed resources addressing global fraud, plus GMP requirements and laboratory methods for identity, contamination, and potency testing. He discusses herbs including ashwagandha, turmeric/curcumin and adulteration risks, maca, nigella, and milk thistle, and outlines ABC resources, HerbClip, and membership options at herbalgram.org.

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Christina: Dr. Cabral, thank you so much for all you do for our community. My question is about oral health and specifically the use of the 360 one-piece toothbrushes that take 30 seconds to clean the teeth (I.e. Autobrush). Do you think they are as effective as the sonic electric toothbrushes and what is your opinion on them? Additionally, one can choose the fluoride free toothpaste versions, but they require a foaming agent to work. I like the fact that these toothbrushes require less time overall and seem to clean all the teeth, but am a little concerned about the foaming toothpaste that are required for them to wok. Thank you! Barbara: What is the 12,000 FU that you referred to in your post. Tricia: Hi Dr. Cabral - I'm trying to figure out if I should take your berberine or daily gluco support. Can you please explain the difference, and which one might be better for a 56-year-old female that does struggle to keep weight off and balance blood sugar. I'm not diabetic but I watch it closely. Thank you! Alex: Hi Dr. Cabral, I am a 37-year-old female diagnosed with JAK2-positive essential thrombocythemia five years ago. My diagnosis followed after an initial finding of iron deficiency. It was confirmed through a bone biopsy. I have recently started following your show and am focused on finding the root cause. I would like to avoid progressing to chemotherapy medications if at all possible. To manage inflammation and support detoxification, I maintain an anti-inflammatory diet, exercise at least five days a week, use a sauna, and take various supplements. My biggest symptom with this disease is fatigue. Could you point me in the right direction of finding the root cause and help lowering my platelet count? Thank you! Alex Samantha: Hi Dr Cabral, I went into an adrenal crisis in 2023 and was diagnosed with Primary Addison disease and hashimotos. I also have undifferentiated connective tissue disease. I take steroids and thyroid mediation, and also work with an N.D. for recurring EBV, h pylori, and candida. I have reduced the hashimotos antibodies drastically and have hope to eventually go into remission, but my question is, is it possible to heal or go into remission with Primary Addison disease and not be dependent on steroids? Or is it true that with primary Addison disease, the adrenals are "toast?" Though I have reduced the hashimotos antibodies, the 21-hydroxlase Addison antibody is still present. Would love any tips or suggestions. Thank you!! Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Michael: Hi Dr. Cabral. I'm an IHP Level 1 and have been following you for over 2 years. I'm grateful for all you do. I'm a 61 year old male and take no medication. I've always had elevated cholesterol but it's come down a lot over the last 2 years. I now have LDL of 108. My CRP is in the normal range at 0.41. My homocysteine is also in the normal range at 8.9. My coronary calcium score from almost 3 years ago is 129. I want to make sure my heart stays healthy and want to be smart about what supplements to take apart from the foundational ones like the DNS and Omega 3. If I take all the supplements that promote a healthy heart, it gets a bit expensive and I was wondering if you thought about formulating one supplement to combine some of them. I'm currently taking D3+K2, Red Yeast Rice, Berberine and Inflamma Soothe, and I'm considering adding in Proteolytic Enzymes. What are your thoughts on which ones to prioritize? Lily: Hi Doc, I am taking the foundational supplements and magnesium. I know that everyone is different and the personal approach is best (I just ordered your new book). But, if you had to say, beyond the foundational supplements, what are your next 4 favorite supplements? Tommy: Hi Dr C, I'm An IHP 2. I've come a long way with my health and career thanks to you. I've had many issues in life similar to you. In the last 2 years I feel like I've become very prone to gut issues. I've done 2 para and 1 CBO in the last year. I seem to get bouts of dhiarrea like I've picked up a bacteria. I have wondered if my stomach acid is low, being an online presence is stressful, but I'm working on my stress more than ever. What else could cause me to have a 'weak stomHawkins: ach'? I still get anal itching too, sometimes during the day, I know you've mentioned this could also be histamines and not just parasites. I've had so much trauma, antibiotics, and 14 years of steroid creams. I've had low cortisol too which I believe is much better now. Scott: Hi Stephen. (Scott UK) . My wife had a routine operation (9 operations in total) and ended up with stomach problems diagnosed with gastroparesis, well that's what they said, she ended up with a feeding tube and an ileostomy, in the last couple of years she's really turn thing around she's back to solid food and she hasn't fed on her feeding tube for 9 to 10 months now, she's gaining weight and looking really healthy, she's 53 and going through menopause, she's been diagnosed with carpal tunnel and trigger finger in both hands, and both thumbs are now stuck straight, she takes half of a scoop of DNS and greens powder, D3k2. magnesium, zinc, omega 3, infrared sauna, red light, 7000 steps, they want to operate on both hands, which I'd like to avoid, any suggestions would be very helpful. Stephanie: Hi! I had a full work up done and it showed my prolactin level is 95. CRP also elevated, but everything else within range. I am willing to go see an endocrinologist, but I am hesistant to take the cabergoline (I've read that's likely how they will proceed). Is there anything else I can do? I started taking Vitex Berry when I got the results. A 2022 meta-analysis of 37 randomized trials found that berberine lowered glycated hemoglobin by 0.63% and fasting glucose by 0.82 mmol/L, with consistent results across diverse patient groups Earlier researchers also highlighted how berberine lowers blood sugar and harmful blood fats while also reducing liver fat and markers linked to kidney damage Berberine limits fat cell development and dampens inflammation as well, effects that may support weight control and improved insulin sensitivity In a 13‑week randomized study, researchers showed that berberine's blood sugar-lowering abilities are on par with the effects of the diabetes drug metformin Clinical studies support taking 500 mg of berberine with meals up to three times daily, starting with lower doses and increasing gradually; however, there are safety precautions to keep in mind

David Roberts and Dr. John Gilday spent years developing Mara Labs after David's wife Mara was diagnosed with breast cancer and they discovered the compound that could help her, sulforaphane from broccoli, didn't exist in stable, absorbable form anywhere. They grew broccoli sprouts for ten families while Dr. Gilday obsessed over stabilizing the molecule. When he finally cracked it, Mara pushed them to share it with the world before she passed away. This episode reveals why most broccoli supplements are essentially worthless, how microplastics are jamming up your cellular detox systems, and why estrogen itself isn't the enemy, but its metabolism might be. You'll learn why berberine outperformed Valium as a sleep aid in studies, how eating late with low insulin production leaves glucose sitting in your blood all night, and why Ozempic's weight loss can be up to 40% muscle. Discover: • The broccoli supplement truth: why 95% of products contain only the precursor molecule that your stomach acid destroys before it can work • The microplastics mechanism: how plastic particles fill up your cellular "drains," blocking the lysosome from clearing waste and creating hormonal noise • The estrogen metabolism shift: why estrogen is protective until it converts to quinones that can make DNA breaks in your genome • The sulforaphane detox pathway: how one compound turns on Nrf2 to activate every cell's built-in detoxification system • The berberine absorption problem: why standard berberine is nearly impossible to dissolve and ends up disrupting your gut microbiome instead of entering your bloodstream • The GLP-1 difference: why natural berberine-induced satiety works without slowing gut motility the way Ozempic does Find Dr. John Gilday & David Roberts: Website: https://mara-labs.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/themaralabs Timestamps: 0:00 - Why most hormonal supplements don't work 1:46 - Hot Seat: Biggest detox mistakes and the NRF2 master switch 3:20 - Is berberine nature's Ozempic? 7:18 - Claire's one-month transformation with sulforaphane 9:21 - How Mara Labs was born from a breast cancer diagnosis 17:00 - Microplastics: the forest fire in your body 24:18 - The estrogen truth: it's not the enemy, the metabolism is 35:04 - Why your matcha works better with sulforaphane 39:17 - Berberine, Ozempic, and fasting in a pill 52:12 - The 40% muscle loss problem with Ozempic (and how to prevent it)

What if the biggest metabolism disruptor today is not carbs or calories, but the toxic load you cannot see? In this episode of the Metabolic Freedom Podcast, Ben Azadi sits down with Mara Labs co-founders David Roberts and Dr. John Gildea for a deep dive into microplastics, detox pathways, and the science of sulforaphane. They break down how microplastics and the chemicals that leach from plastics can interfere with cellular function, including lysosomes, autophagy, inflammation, and hormone signaling. You will learn why sulforaphane is known for activating Nrf2, what that means for detox and repair genes, and why the conversation around metabolic health is also a conversation about toxin exposure. They also discuss berberine as a tool for metabolic flexibility, blood sugar support, ketosis, and even sleep, plus new product innovations like BarkElite for dogs. If you want practical strategies backed by research and real-world testing, this one is packed. Key Topics Covered Why microplastics are everywhere and why that matters for metabolism and longevity How microplastics may interfere with lysosomes, autophagy, and cellular cleanup What sulforaphane is and how it activates the Nrf2 pathway Phase 1, 2, and 3 detox explained in plain English Why inflammation is often the real root issue behind stubborn fat loss Berberine, AMPK, GLP-1 signaling, and metabolic flexibility Why late-night eating can wreck sleep and HRV The dog angle: joint support, inflammation, and BarkElite Coupon and Discount Browse all products featured in this episode : http://www.benazadi.com/mara Mara Labs discount code: FREEDOM 25% off from January 19, 2026 through January 26, 2026 After January 26, 2026: code still works for 15% off Follow Ben Azadi

Metformin is a widely prescribed Type 2 diabetes drug that works by lowering liver glucose production and improve insulin sensitivity A 16-week Rutgers trial in 72 adults found that metformin dulled exercise benefits, reducing the usual improvements in aerobic fitness Long-term risks for prolonged metformin use include vitamin B12 deficiency, rare lactic acidosis, and hypoglycemia Skipping breakfast, not getting enough sleep, consuming too much alcohol, and social isolation can greatly disturb glucose regulation and increase the risk of developing diabetes over time Lifestyle strategies such as consistent movement, and a bioenergetic, nutrient-dense diet can support insulin sensitivity. Berberine may also help to slowly wean you off metformin medication
