We got a flurry of news on Wednesday about Duke 2025-26 season. First of all, the roster is expanding. Duke is getting 6-11 big man Ifeanyi Ufochukwu from Rice. He doesn't figure to be a regular part of the rotation, but as 3rd string backup centers go, he's a very nice fit and will be an important practice player. After the break, Jason and Donald dive into everything we know about Duke's schedule, starting with the news that the ACC is cutting the sked back to 18 total games and then going through each of the non-conference opponents who have been revealed. There is plenty to know about these teams and about how Jon Scheyer will use this schedule to build another national title contender. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
A new name has been added to the Duke coaching staff as Jon Scheyer has brought Celtic/Jazz assistant coach Evan Bradds on board. On the latest edition of the DBR Podcast, Donald and Jason (back from vacation) have nothing but praise for Duke hiring one of the best young minds in the game to join the bench. After the break, the guys get into a conversation about where Duke goes next in terms of building the 2025-26 roster. And yes, we get into what could... could happen if Isaiah Evans or Cedric Coward decide to stay in the NBA Draft. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

With the deadline to enter the transfer portal having passed, Josh, Dustin, and Raul discuss the current outlook for Duke's 2025-26 roster. Topics discussed include: The departure of Tyrese Proctor for the NBA and what he meant to Duke over the last three years How Duke can replace Proctor's volume 3pt shooting and on-ball defense Shelton Henderson's decommitment from Duke and commitment to Miami Caleb Foster returning to Duke for his junior season and what it says about Foster as a person and player How Isaiah Evans can expand upon his role next season Whether Darren Harris can take over Evans' bench role if Evans moves into the starting lineup The frontcourt rotation of Cameron Boozer, Patrick Ngongba, and Maliq Brown Potential actions run between the frontcourt and Isaiah Evans How much Cayden Boozer and Nikolas Khamenia can contribute right away Possible portal additions (specifically the appeal of adding Cedric Coward) General thoughts on Jon Scheyer's roster-building philosophy What it means for Duke to be able to retain so many players To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. We're back with Episode 724, and Scott Rich is back to join Donald as they discuss the close of the transfer portal entry deadline! The portal is closed to new entrants, and Jon Scheyer has successfully kept some continuity on the roster. Isaiah Evans, Maliq Brown, Darren Harris, and Patrick Ngongba will all be back with the Duke Blue Devils next season, and we discuss how welcome a sight that is. In a world where the portal affects everyone, Duke is one of the few power conference teams to not lose any of their main rotation players to the portal. While Duke could look to add a final piece or two, the certain thing is that Scheyer wanted continuity...and he got it. After the break, the two men from Michigan discuss the report that Duke could be playing Michigan in February 2026 in DC. Of course, Donald is happy about the Blue Devils being down the street from him, but we look at the potential matchup and how Jon Scheyer is trying to test his guys with these marquee games. We close with a salute to the life of Mike Patrick, who passed away at age 80 a few days ago. Make sure you're following us! Topics discussed include: The Caleb Love and Cooper Flagg battle in the Arizona game Love's questionable shot selection at the end of the 1st half that allowed Duke to take a 6-point lead into halftime How Duke was able to stretch the lead to 19 in the 2nd half How Arizona came storming back Flagg's masterclass Khaman Maluach's crucial late block on Caleb Love Holding Alabama to only 65 points after they'd just scored 113 How Duke's size overwhelmed Alabama's guards How Duke was able to carve up Alabama's defense on backdoor cuts and middle penetration Maluach's lob party in both games Tyrese Proctor as the most steady, efficient player for Duke throughout the tournament Proctor's improved finishing The poise and craft Kon Knueppel exhibits on drives Positive minutes from Caleb Foster The 13-0 run after a crucial Duke timeout, effectively ending the game Then they reflect at length about the job Jon Scheyer has done so far at Duke and whether he's getting enough praise nationally. Final Four in San Antonio is set, so let's talk about it. Norlander and Hartzell break down the weekend that was - including a Sweet 16 and Elite 8 recap from all four regions - plus a lookahead to what on paper could be the best set of Final Four games ... ever? The guys have a disagreement on whether or not Jon Scheyer has over-achieved in his first three years at Duke (Norlander says yes, Hartzell says no), and we have on-the-ground reporting from Newark over the weekend. Gators and Auburn did the things. Houston is a monster, and you knew it was going to end like this, Vols fans. Sorry that it had to happen in the Elite 8. Retirement watch in Knoxville? And speaking of coaches, Norlander empties the notebook on everything that went down with the messy split between Maryland and Kevin Willard. On a Monday Drive, Josh tells why Duke looked their scariest in the Elite 8 win against Alabama, explains why repairing the relationship with Cam Newton needs to be a top priority of David Tepper, off the field, as we come up on the ten year anniversary of the 2015 Panthers team, breaks down why the ACC is absolutely in a position to flex with Duke getting to the Final Four, college basketball for The Athletic, Brendan Marks, joins the show to tell what he heard Jon Scheyer tell Duke with about eight minutes to go against Alabama that took the Blue Devils the distance, and Hayes Permar, of Sports Channel 8, joins the show to tell what expectations should be from Will Wade at NC State and to play a “Duke themed” Skips or Plays.
Three years in, Jon Scheyer has a Final Four to his name as Duke dismantled the feared Alabama offense to the tune of 85-65. The final score may have been 20 points, but this was a tense game between two outstanding ballclubs that Duke really broke open late. The Duke Basketball Roundup gives you a quick "vibes" reaction podcast in which Jason and Donald bask in the moment and give their initial impressions of the win. The guys will have a longer, more thoughtful podcast later in the day on Sunday but for now, enjoy the feelings of a trip to San Antonio. Two more wins baby... Learn more about your ad choices. For the first time under Jon Scheyer, Duke is headed to the Final Four. After dispatching Arizona, Duke put on a master class against Alabama in a rout. Can Duke continue the trend into what is being called the toughest Final Four of all time? We talk about it. Let's Go Duke!
The season is over. The Gritty Boys era has be wrapped. Arizona was outmatched by Duke and Cooper Flagg in the Sweet 16 with the Elite 8 on the line. Caleb Love was other-worldly in his effort. 35 from Love against his forever rivals in Duke. Jon Scheyer and Tommy Lloyd were going head to head in a great coaching matchup. However, Arizona failed to get supplemental scoring from their “others”. Carter Bryant was not his best self on the night. Trey Townsend was quite outside of some early shot making. ADO gave his best in the first half but was iced in the second half. Will Cooper Flagg and Duke go on to win it all? Will Arizona return Carter Bryant and KJ Lewis? Was this the way we envisioned Caleb Love going out? PLUS! The Duke Blue Devils are in the Sweet 16, and a second date looms with the Arizona Wildcats. We preview that game on DBR Bites #101. We get started with our episode by paying tribute to a dear member of Jason's family and a beloved regular guest of the pod, Cameron. Jason shares some incredible words on the loss of his best buddy. Cameron will be missed by us all. We then get into the analysis of Arizona and how they've improved since we last saw them in Tucson back in November.
