A wolverine hasn't been spotted in Oregon outside of the Wallowa Mountains in more than three decades. But this year, there have been several sightings in Western and Central Oregon. Officials with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife haven't been able to confirm whether the scattered sightings are of the same wolverine.Kaly Adkins is the East Region conservation wildlife biologist with ODFW. She confirmed many of the sightings and joins us to talk about the unusual amount of wolverine activity this spring.

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall reaction to wild night one of the Sweet Sixteen. Drew Timme was unstoppable as Gonzaga came back from a 13-point halftime deficit - and almost gagged it back at the end - to hand UCLA yet another crushing NCAA Tournament loss. The Bruins will have nightmares about that Julian Strawther 3-point for a long, long time. The only question for UCLA now becomes whether or not super seniors Tyger Campbell and Jaime Jaquez are going to come back for their fifth years. In the East Region, Kansas State's diminutive point guard Markquis Nowell put on a legendary performance (20 points, 19 assists and 5 steals) leading the Wildcats to a thrilling overtime win over Michigan State; the kid was absolutely electric. Interestingly enough, none of Thursday's biggest stars (Timme, Jaquez or Nowell) project to be anything more than fringe NBA players, but maybe that's partly why this year's Tournament has been so fascinating? Finally, the guys close the show by making their official picks for the Sweet Sixteen Friday slate. The field has been revealed. The Duke Blue Devils find themselves criminally under-seeded as the #5 seed in the East Region, which is loaded with strong teams. But, the DBR Podcast crew is undaunted and actually thinks the Devils got a pretty good bracket, one that could easily end up with Duke cutting down nets and moving on to the Final Four. That notion seemed pretty far-fetched just a couple weeks ago, but with a team that seems to be peaking at just the right moment, there is plenty to be excited about. The Podcast gang also looks at other ACC teams and the opponents they will face as the conference again tries to put on an impressive showing to prove the pundits wrong about the strength of the league. After the break, the Pod has more to say about Duke's victory in the ACC Tournament, including some interesting tidbits about the players from Duke who made it onto the All-Tournament team. The Boilermakers are the 1 seed in the East Region. What do we think of the NCAA Tournament draw? Let's break it down on Gold and Black Radio.
On today's show, it's ALL THINGS BRACKETS! Aaron explains why the committee did a good job this year, before going region by region - which No. 1 seeds have an easy path, where are the upsets + everything you need to know about the field of 68! Here's a full rundown: What the committee got right and wrong (2:00): Aaron opens the show by sharing initial thoughts on the bracket - why the committee got the No. 1 seeds right, why the bubble was easier to figure out than ever before - and the one big gripe he has with this year's bracket. South Region (11:00): Aaron opens his region-by-region breakdown with the South, where Alabama is the No. 1 seed and why upsets galore could happen on the top hal fof the bracket. Also, is Baylor susceptible to an upset and should Arizona be happy to be out of the West? East Region (23:00): Next, he heads East. Purdue is the No. 1 - how early should they be on upset alert? Plus, a nice path for Duke and should Kentucky be worried about Providence? Midwest Region (29:00): From there, Aaron heads to the Midwest, with the surprising decision to put Houston in as the No. 1 seed. Should Cougar fans be worried about the health of star guard Marcus Sasser? Also, concerns for Indiana and Miami, should Texas A&M be upset with their No. 7 seed, and how about that potential Texas-Texas A&M second round showdown West Region (38:00): Finally, Aaron heads out West. Is UConn on upset alert against Rick Pitino's Iona Gaels, and do Gonzaga and UCLA have a clear path to a Sweet 16 showdown? Zach Edey helped the Purdue Boilermakers nail down the Big Ten Tournament title Sunday afternoon, as the Boilers held on to edge Penn State 67-65, winning both the regular season and tournament titles. Purdue was rewarded a few minutes later as the NCAA selection committee seeded them first in the East Region, with first and second round games in Columbus, Ohio starting Friday evening. After losing to Penn State in the Big Ten semifinals Saturday, the Indiana Hoosiers were seeded 4th in the Midwest Region, with their opener set for late Friday night against Kent State. The Michigan State Spartans are a seven seed, with a noon game Friday against future Big Ten opponent USC. The Michigan Wolverines were left out of the NCAA bracket. Illinois and Northwestern also made the field of 68. The Illini face Arkansas Thursday afternoon, and Northwestern takes on Boise State Thursday evening. The Notre Dame women are a three seed in their region, with first and second round games at Purcell Pavilion later this week, and the Indiana Hoosiers are the top seed in their region, hosting first and second round games in Bloomington. The Chicago Bears are working through their draft board, after landing a slew of picks last week when they traded the top overall pick to the Carolina Panthers. The Bears could well be targeting a top defensive lineman with what is now their first pick at number 9 overall, or perhaps a difference making receiver. The NFL draft will be held in late April. Hockey: the Detroit Redwings got a home win Sunday over the Boston Bruins, 5-to-3. The Bruins will be in Chicago tomorrow night to play the Blackhawks.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
