I first met Jason in Lawrenceburg Indiana a few years ago. We were randomly placed as pole partners in the final event of the Whiskey City Rodeo. Jason reached out to me a few weeks ago and said hey I'd love to be on the podcast if you'd have me. Of course, I said yes and it was awesome to hear his story. Turns out he has competed at the International Lineman's Rodeo in Kansas 22 times in his career. If that wasn't special enough, he and a few others decided to form a team to raise money for St. Jude's Hospital and they crushed it! They raised thousands of dollars and were able to present the check on stage during the awards banquet. They are returning to the ILR this year with the team and goals of reaching new highs. If you feel called to support this cause (full details are in the episode about why they chose this cause) then you can scan the QR code in the photo above or reach out to them at CLIMBINFORKIDS@AMEREN.COM

"I believe that music is the solution to all of the problems of mankind." Songwriter and composer Cindy (Cynthia) Jordan is dedicated to her vision of bringing awareness to the power of music and she is right on track. In 1983, every country radio station and honky-tonk was playing, Jose Cuervo you are a friend of mine.” This is the first song this California surfer girl ever wrote! The song Jose Cuervo went on to be the 1983 Country Music song of the year in Billboard Magazine. That same year Sales for Jose Cuervo tequila increased by the millions. “That's the power of music.” In 1985 Cindy began writing songs for children and formed a children's choir she called Kids for Kids. The choir sang at churches, hospitals and festivals in the spirit of friendship. Many times they would pass a basket and raise money for St. Jude's Hospital. Today Kids for Kids program is a 501c3 known as Children for a Peaceful World. In 1997 Cindy changed her genre again to beautiful, piano compositions under the name of Cynthia. With the release of her music, Cindy began receiving letters from all over the world: “We use your music to relieve our little girl's migraine headaches.” “My aunt had a more speedy recovery from her heart surgery.” “I had my first full night's sleep in two years!” “We played your Celtic CD when we buried our son and it brought us great comfort.” Cindy began doing research on the power of music and was excited to find all kinds of benefits music can bring. Cynthia's inspirational book Butterfly Moments tells about her musical journey from Jose Cuervo to composing the Peaceful Journey series. She is currently performing and giving her fun, inspirational keynote to audiences nationwide. Her new book, Unlocking the Power of Music will be released in May 2007. Cindy currently resides in San Angelo, Texas. Her program “Ahhh Radio” airs every evening from 9 to 11 on KCSA, 95.7 “We play therapeutic music with the intention of helping people relax, help children wind down and go to sleep, and students retain more of what they read. Music is energy and the right kind of music promotes a healthy community.” It is the most listened to radio show in the area. Her goal is to syndicate nation wide. “If the power of music works anywhere, it can work everywhere.”

Gary Tannus Nassif was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to American-Lebanese parents, Elias J. and Adele H. Ferris Nassif. He studied at Muscatine Junior College, Drake University, the Chicago Art Institute, and at the University of Iowa in Iowa City where he did post graduate work in special education. He managed his father's business with his mother after his father's death, taught art and special education in schools in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for seven years. Later he moved to Los Angeles and worked in scenic art at NBC and CBS for Dean Martin, Carol Burnett, and many other major shows. In Hollywood and Las Vegas, Gary developed his singing voice, confidence, and career. Eventually he was discovered by Al Viola, guitarist for Frank Sinatra for thirty years. He was featured with Queen of the Piano of Las Vegas—Mafalda—at the MGM Grand (two years off and on) Gary headlined a show for 5,000 Shriners and families at the famed Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Gary became a sculptor for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and its founder, Danny Thomas. He created the renowned bronze, “The Jeremiah Children,” as a symbol of hope for the children. Gary fought and won a life-long battle with stuttering, fear, and low self-esteem. As a result of writing Stop Crying and Listen to the Music, a memoir, Gary discovered that he had unlimited potential all along and the ability to exchange bad for good. Let's talk about risk, and what kinds of players are appropriate at what stages of your fantasy draft. Of course, there's no one-size-fits-all rule for when to take high-variance players, but we'll talk through some of our favorites and how your strategies might differ depending on your fantasy football league size. We'll also talk about how to approach handcuffing when it comes to drafting running backs in 2021. Guest: Scott Pianowski of Yahoo! Fantasy. Sometimes your fantasy football draft strategy calls for selecting some high-variance players in the early rounds: guys who embody the week-by-week "feast-or-famine" ethos. When that happens, it often makes sense to settle things down by soothing your roster with something safe. Today we'll list our nominees for some of the safest players you can select in the early rounds of your fantasy draft. Guest: Patrick Daugherty of NBC Sports Edge. What makes a fantasy football bust? Is it that he's a bad player? Usually no! Mostly we're talking about draft value. Do we agree with where a player is being drafted, or do we think it's too high? In the case of the guys we're listing on today's show, we just don't like them at their current fantasy football ADP price. We'll count 'em down, and advise you to stay away for 2021. It's time to take a fantasy football stand! Today is the first part of our Flag Players list for 2021: a fabled group Harris has anointed for more than a decade, picking *only* 10 players who represent the pinnacle of draftability. None of this "throw out a hundred guys" stuff...let's plant some flags on the draft stock of running backs and wide receivers. And let's also think outside the box a bit, and discuss a few NFL offenses we may simply be wrong about. Guest: Liz Loza of Yahoo! Fantasy. We just finished the holiday season which is a time that I love - everyone is in the spirit of giving! A gift I've given to my niece and nephew for 3 years in a row including this Christmas is I made donations in their names using charitygiftcertificates.org They get to choose what charity the money goes towards. My niece Cassandra picked St. Jude's Hospital. My nephew and niece have a lot of stuff so this helps them learn about helping others and giving back. So think about doing something like this next holiday season or even on birthdays of your friends and family members. I'm Scott Colby with Say It With Gratitude and this has been your Daily Gratitude Minute. Cheers.
