Keith McCullough, Founder and CEO of Hedgeye Risk Management, joins Alan Dunne in this episode for an in-depth look into Keith's distinctive approach to global macro analysis and tactical trading. The conversation explores Keith's background as a hedge fund manager and his views on how markets have evolved, especially in relation to option flows. Keith breaks down his four-quadrant framework for macro analysis, explaining how pinpointing the economy's position within these quadrants is as much an art as it is a science. His framework currently signals continued strength in the US dollar and US equities. A fundamental aspect of Keith's approach is his respect for market signals and the need for these signals to confirm his macro views. He also shares valuable insights into the behavioural challenges of investing and emphasizes the importance of a disciplined, repeatable process to drive long-term success.-----EXCEPTIONAL RESOURCE: Find Out How to Build a Safer & Better Performing Portfolio using this FREE NEW Portfolio Builder Tool-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Alan on Twitter.Follow Keith on Twitter.Episode TimeStamps: 02:23 - Introduction to Keith McCullough05:01 - From hedge fund to research07:29 - Being a retail investor is an insult09:56 - How McCullough has reacted to the rise of 0DTE options13:48 - Have stocks become more macro driven?15:54 - Where are we currently in the 4 quads?19:22 - The challenge of lag in macro signals21:26 - McCullough's framework...

With over 200,000 followers on Twitter, Keith has garnered a global reputation for his transparent, data-led approach. We kick off the interview by discussing how Keith and his team of over 40 analysts use their proprietary Growth/Inflation/Policy (GIP) model, to paint an illuminating picture of the macroeconomic environment. We also cover current markets, where I highlight the erroneous recession narrative being pedalled by some mainstream media, before we unravel it using Hedgeye's unique top-down approach. Keith also makes sense of inflation, identifying the Fed's baffling position before explaining how Hedgeye went long inflation acceleration well over a year ago. At first blush, Keith McCullough may come off as just another brash and cocksure trader. Dig a bit deeper, though, and you'll find a calculating iconoclast driven by a deep desire to both continually improve as an investor and, ultimately, change Wall Street for the better. After starting in a job running buy and sell tickets, Keith worked his way up to running a portfolio and eventually to founding his own hedge fund. Today, he runs Hedgeye, a research service established with the goal of giving individual investors a look behind the curtain of a major macro hedge fund environment. In this conversation, Keith discusses how he developed his four quadrant macro framework that informs all of his investing decisions and how he uses it today. He also reveals how volatility can be used as a buy or sell signal and how getting fired taught him the greatest life lesson of all: to bet on himself. The verdict is in—the Fed wasn’t dovish enough. As you know, the Fed cut rates 25 basis points yesterday. But the future path for rates is murky at best. There’s more than a fair amount of dissent on the FOMC.Take a look at the “dot plot” (individual Fed governors’ interest rate targets) for the end of 2019.Here’s what’s happening:Five members approved of the 25 basis point cut (but those same governors expect rates to hold steady at the current target of 1.75% to 2% for the rest of the year)Seven members favor at least one more cut by year endFive members think rates should end 2019 between 2% and 2.25%So what’s next?Outspoken former Fed advisor Danielle DiMartino Booth has an interesting idea you should consider. She discussed it during a new discussion with CEO Keith McCullough

We just hosted a conversation between Macro guru and Real Vision co-founder Raoul Pal and Hedgeye CEO Keith McCullough. When two sharp Macro minds are in agreement, like Keith and Raoul are right now, it’s worth closer analysis. The structure of the cycle looks negative.”
We hosted a “no-holds-barred” investing webcast between renowned short-seller Marc Cohodes and Hedgeye CEO Keith McCullough.(Click herefor webcast access.
