Sam Cooper is an award-winning Canadian investigative journalist and best-selling author, recognized for his in-depth reporting on money laundering, organized crime, and foreign interference in Canada. He gained prominence for breaking the British Columbia casino money laundering story in 2017 while at the Vancouver Sun and later expanded his work at Global News. His book, Wilful Blindness: How a Network of Narcos, Tycoons and CCP Agents Infiltrated the West, alleges that Canadian officials ignored a sophisticated criminal network tied to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), impacting real estate, casinos, and the fentanyl crisis. Marc Cohodes is a prominent American short-seller and investor, widely recognized for his ability to uncover corporate fraud and financial misconduct. With a career spanning decades, he gained fame as a general partner at Rocker Partners (later Copper River Management) from 1985 to 2009, where he exposed major frauds like Lernout & Hauspie and NovaStar Financial—the latter becoming a Harvard Business School case study. Known for his tenacious and outspoken style, Cohodes has targeted companies across industries, including biotech (e.g., MiMedx) and crypto (e.g., FTX), often predicting collapses before they occur.Cornerstone Forum ‘25https://www.showpass.com/cornerstone25/Get your voice heard: Text Shaun 587-217-8500Substack:https://open.substack.com/pub/shaunnewmanpodcastSilver Gold Bull Links:Website: https://silvergoldbull.ca/Email: SNP@silvergoldbull.comText Grahame: (587) 441-9100Bow Valley Credit UnionWebsite: www.BowValleycu.comEmail: welcome@BowValleycu.com Use the code “SNP” on all ordersProphet River Links:Website: store.prophetriver.com/Email: SNP@prophetriver.com

Market corruption is on the rise, and regulatory systems are struggling to keep up. Financial markets are becoming increasingly polarized, and the landscape is more complex than ever. Marc Cohodes, a seasoned investor and former hedge fund manager, shares his insights and firsthand experiences from a career that spans over four decades. Mark pulls back the curtain on the darker side of financial markets, exposing the fraud and corruption that have emerged alongside rapid technological advancements and an influx of capital. Together, we tackle the challenging role of social media in both exposing and perpetuating fraud, and the unique difficulties faced when the public turns against those who reveal high-profile fraud cases. The conversation doesn't stop at corruption; it extends to the striking transformation of the stock market in the post-COVID era. As speculative behaviors surge, fueled by influential figures and media outlets, the sustainability of such a market environment is under heavy scrutiny. We dive into the culture of quick riches, the volatility surrounding cryptocurrencies, and the dire need for stronger regulatory oversight, using the FTX scandal as a stark warning sign. Mark shares intriguing stories from his interactions with companies like NVIDIA, questioning the impact of the AI craze on valuations, and reflects on the societal and market polarization that challenges rational investment strategies. Finally, we turn our attention to the cannabis industry and its vast potential. Highlighting Glass House and its CEO, Kyle Kazan, we analyze the transformative possibilities within this rapidly evolving market. By comparing the current cannabis landscape to the post-prohibition alcohol industry, we anticipate the immense growth that could follow regulatory changes. Personal anecdotes about cannabis for pain management reinforce its benefits, advocating for decriminalization and a regulated, taxed industry that promises a bright future for companies like Glass House. Join us as we unravel the complex dynamics of financial markets and embrace the inevitability of change. The content in this program is for informational purposes only. The Beverly Hills MD Deep Wrinkle Filler is on sale NOW!! This video features everything you need to know about my latest anti-aging obsession! WATCH NOW ———-> https://bhmd1.com/JoyMarc Cohodes takes on fraudsters and scammers for a living. If you don't know the name - he is the famous, Wall Street short-seller who is credited with exposing the FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried cryptocurrency fraud. The shocking scheme featured a private company (with their media darling SBF) laundering money for government connected political organizations and completely defrauding their investors. Now that the dust has settled many are realizing that the cozy relationship between corporate giants and the governments tasked with regulating them - just might be a problem. In the late 19th & 20th Centuries there seemed to be constant and natural tension between private, for-profit corporations and the democratically elected governments who regulated them. Political party platforms grew out of that paradigm with Democrats ever so skeptical of the nasty Robber Barons and Republicans issuing dire warnings about BIG government socialists & the evils of Communism.Recently however - it seems as if they have ALL gotten quite cozy.A strange (yet familiar) phenomenon has emerged in the 21st Century and has accelerated in the last 20 years, particularly after the COVID lockdowns of 2020. It features larger and larger organizations (companies, shell companies, non-profits, consortiums, NGO's and Public Private Partnerships to name a few) merging seamlessly with government agencies and bureaucracies across the globe. This clearly has dire implications for regular people's economy and freedom. When governments (armed with military might) and tasked with regulating corporations, get in bed with the companies they are supposed to be monitoring, the stage is set for massive fraud & corruption which inevitably leads to terrible tyrannies as they ALL consolidate wealth & power.MUST watch show today with Marc Cohodes! Marc Cohodes spent decades on Wall Street as a wildly successful short seller and co-owner of the $2 billion-dollar fund Copper River Management. He left the business after the 2008 housing collapse and after a brief hiatus, emerged as as lone-wolf independent investor on a mission to take down fraudulent traders and corporate cheats - a practice which increasingly intersects with national politics as the interests of corporatists and governments merge.Cohodes is known as the man who took down FTX and Sam Bankman Fried, exposing the money laundering scheme behind the crypto company touting ‘altruistic corporatism' while committing fraud and washing tens of millions for Democrat political organizations! Now he turns his attention to Pay Pal Mafia member and political gadfly David Sacks, exposing potential securities fraud amidst the backdrop of financial collapse on Wall Street, dollar devaluation and what seems to be a stampede to AI, tech stocks and CBDC's!There's a LOT to discuss today on The SJ Show.Follow Marc Cohodes on Twitter @alderlaneeggs!Please Support Our Sponsors:THRILLED to welcome Patriot Mobile to the Shannon Joy family of sponsors!! Marc Cohodes, accomplished short-seller and financial bloodhound, is on the ultimate hot-streak. Over the past six months, he has been the sternest critic of FTX, Silvergate, and Signature Bank, all of which either have ceased operations as a corporate entity or will do so shortly. He shares what led him to call out FTX in the summer of 2022 (months before its bankruptcy in the fall) and why he shorted the stocks of Silvergate ($SI) and Signature Bank ($SBNY), which have both collapsed in value (a share of Silvergate trades at less than two dollars and shares of Signature Bank no longer trade after it was taken over by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on March 12). Cohodes also explains the immense difficulties that short-sellers frequently face, and he shares his opinion on turmoil swirling around the U.S. regional banking system. Over the course of this interview, Cohodes makes several allegations which are solely his own opinion. "People fall in love with the shiny object, and in the case of FTX it turned out to be a fake," says legendary short seller Marc Cohodes. "The world right now lacks people's ability to actually think. The more I dug in on Silvergate's clients, one was worse than the next [Signature Bank]," he tells Daniela Cambone. "I told people Silvergate is a publicly traded crime scene and the CEO needs to go to jail," Cohodes says. "I'm very proud of the work I did here and the time I put in because two really bad outfits are now out of business," he continues. "I had three bullets in my gun and all three hit the target... I'm also short Helen of Troy. It's headed for big-time trouble," Cohodes predicts. "The cost of living is out of control and the CPI does not capture how expensive it is these days to live," he continues. "The Fed has really messed things up over the past decade and a half with the generation of easy money," Marc states. "It's why these banks are all in trouble. They borrowed all of this cheap money with low interest-rate investments... It's all coming home to roost," he argues. "The Fed is in a real box and they need to take interest rates way up and absolutely kill inflation," Marc continues. "[The Fed] really needs to slow things down hard and break inflation... We are in a zombie state," he concludes.

Today's guest is famed short-seller Marc Cohodes. Marc has investigated and brought down some major frauds in the past, and earlier this year he set his eyes on crypto darling Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX. Unless you've been living under a rock, you must be aware of the bankruptcy of FTX and other related crypto entities, but the bigger story may be the alleged fraud, which includes accusations of stealing billions of dollars of customer deposits, providing executives with loans up to $1 billion, and much more. This is a story that almost seems too insane to be true. Hindsight bias comes for us all, and while many people now say the red flags were clear as day, there were very few people criticizing or Sam & FTX before the recent couple of weeks. But on August 1 this year, Marc tweeted, “The Best Short on The Board is this fella…SBF.” John Ray is the new CEO & Chief Restructuring Officer for FTX and famously oversaw the liquidation of Enron. Given his decades of experience in this role, the statement he made in the recent bankruptcy filing is eye-opening and summarizes the depth of the situation: "never in my career have I seen such a complete failure of corporate controls and such a complete absence of trustworthy financial information as occurred here [at FTX].” Since this is a story that seems to change by the day, note that we are recording this on Monday, November 21st. ----- Follow Meb on Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube For detailed show notes, click here To learn more about our funds and follow us, subscribe to our mailing list or visit us at cambriainvestments.com ----- Today's episode is sponsored by The Idea Farm. In Episode 282 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with famed short seller Marc Cohodes about Sam Bankman-Fried, the recent bankruptcy of FTX, and the bigger story behind the alleged fraud that he and his network of enablers have perpetrated. Marc Cohodes has famously exposing numerous corporate frauds at great personal expense and risk to himself and his family. So, when Cohodes began raising the alarm earlier this year by publicly calling FTX a scam, while describing Sam Bankman-Fried as a fraudster, many of us took notice. During this time, Sam Bankman-Fried was largely seen as the new golden child of crypto. He spent the last several years cultivating a cultish following and rubbing shoulders with some of the most powerful people in the world. He was the second largest donor to Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign behind only George Soros and worked hand-in-glove with politicians and policymakers to regulate the crypto industry in a manner that would favor him, his companies, and his network of financial enablers. On its surface, this looks like your typical financial fraud case. And in some sense, it is. But there are elements to this story that are uniquely suspicious, like Sam's own origins and how he developed his wealth to begin with. The origins of his co-founder Gary Wang—who no one talks about—and the backgrounds of other members of his organization including chief compliance officer Dan Friedberg and chief operating officer Constance Wang also raise concerns. How this otherwise disheveled multi-billionaire who reportedly sleeps on a futon in the Bahamas came to exercise so much political influence and hold so many ownership stakes in companies and venture funds in and outside of crypto remains a mystery. But it's a story that Marc Cohodes has been working on for almost a year and it is the focus of today's explosive conversation. Marc Cohodes' (@AlderLaneEggs on Twitter) LinkedIn profile describes him as the "Head Bull Fighter at Alder Lane Farm." Marc Cohodes has earned a living and a reputation betting against companies he suspects committing fraud. His high-profile take-downs include Insys Therapeutics founder John Kapoor—the orchestrator of a scheme to bribe doctors to prescribe a fentanyl-based pain medication that caused the deaths of 7,000 people. During our earthy and entertaining chat, Cohodes' describes how his shorting career began when he bet against a pinball machine manufacturer at the dawn of the video game age. He explains the rationale behind some of his long positions and maintains that it's not what you've done but what you do next that counts.

The uncovering of the Greensill fraud and the Archegos liquidation have rocked markets in recent weeks but, as always, the narrative around both of these events is woefully misguided. In this special 'Markets In Turmoil' edition of The End Game, Fleck and me are joined by Marc Cohodes and Dr. Ben Hunt to try and make sense of not just the movements this week as the Archegos unwind rippled through markets, but the potential fallout from Greensill's failure. We discuss the importance of each event to broader markets, how they came to be possible, what the real story behind the careful-constructed narrative appears to be as well as the likely ramifications.
Marc Cohodes is a legend in the short selling world. In this podcast, we discuss many things including- Identifying great short ideas, MiMedx, Overstock, Camping World and much more! A lot of awesome content packed into this one podcast.
The Interview, recorded on February 1, 2021 .In this interview with Jason Buck of The Mutiny Fund, famed short-seller Marc Cohodes of Alder Lane Farm pulls no punches as he diagnoses the true culprits behind the exponential volatility in stocks such as GameStop: extreme leverage and the hedge funds who use it in order to juice returns. Cohodes argues that hedge funds like Point72 and Melvin Capital are creating significant systemic risk for all market participants, most notably themselves, and he congratulates the retail trades on r/WallStreetBets but warns them that, generally, buying a stock merely because it has high short interest is a very bad idea. He closes by sharing with Buck his personal journey during the 2008 Great Financial Crisis. Key learnings: The stock market is not a game – it is a serious thing for serious people. The reckless use of leverage ought to be constrained by regulators, and all investors, institutional as well as retail, should be prepared to lose if they are wrong. Learn more about your ad choices. TC and Georgia welcome famed investor Marc Cohodes for a no-holds-barred conversation on facing an FBI raid in the pursuit of justice for MiMedx, chasing down Wirecard, the trouble with shorting Tesla, and going long on Overstock and Camping World.
Marc Cohodes pulls no punches talking about his battles against fraudulent companies explains his tactics for trading short and tells us why he’s long Camping World.
It is the first week of the new year and this episode is brought to from the road! This is an awesome and far-reaching conversation, with Dr. Dave Cohodes from Unbreakable Self, about the archetypes of the mature divine masculine! During our interview, he explains how he helps men reclaim their nature, body, and spirit! In his work as a sports doctor, he has seen men in his clinics suffer, mediating their issues with just mental and emotional work.
Marc Cohodes has made a career betting against companies he suspects of fraud. So when two FBI agents showed up on his farm to tell him to stop Tweeting about MiMedx CEO Pete Petit, Marc says he knew something was rotten in the Marietta, GA biotech’s company’s operations. Marc contends that MiMedx has been engaged in several dishonest practices and that Petit called in political favors from Georgia senator, Johnny Isakson who interceded on MiMedx’s behalf with the VA, FDA, and FBI while Isakson was chair of both Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and the Senate Ethics Committee. In his 30+ year career, Marc claims to have put a lot of people in jail, and exposed 50-70 frauds, mostly in biotech and sub-prime mortgages. He has been called, “the scourge of Wall Street,” and “Warren Buffett’s mosquito.” Harvard Business School has written two case studies about Marc’s methods. Marc is especially tenacious when target companies push back or trash his reputation. Says he, "There’s no greater motivator than disrespect." This is a rerun of a conversation I recorded in May 2018 with legendary short seller Marc Cohodes....
We hosted a “no-holds-barred” investing webcast between renowned short-seller Marc Cohodes and Hedgeye CEO Keith McCullough.(Click herefor webcast access. A video replay is now available.)Trust us when we tell you—this conversation is not to be missed.Consider this quote from Cohodes:"I like to short complete pieces of garbage with fraudulent management and horrifically bad balance sheets.”With a conflicted old Wall Street (and its media) perpetually bullish on the stock market, this conversation between two ardent short-sellers is as informative, as it is enlightening.(This episode contains some strong language)

In our newest conversation on Bespokecast, we sit down with short seller Marc Cohodes. Marc manages his portfolio from San Francisco, and has had great success with high profile bear cases focused on frauds, fads, and failures in recent years. His investment industry experience dates to the early 1980s, and has helped him hone his process for picking out companies unlikely to succeed. Marc goes into detail on his approach, including how he thinks about finding potential shorts, timing, and risk management. He discusses with us recent successful shorts including Valeant, Concordia, and Home Capital Group, as well as another new bear case he has been building a position in Badger Daylight. You can read more about Badger at Marc's website discussing the company. Marc is the first short seller we've had on Bespokecast, and we learned a ton about his approach to the market. We hope you do too!
In November, voters will have a chance to weigh in directly on the state’s charter school policy. Should they vote to allow more charter schools? Which direction does the evidence point? In this week’s podcast, EdNext editor-in-chief Marty West talks with Sarah Cohodes of Teachers College. Cohodes and Susan Dysnarski are the authors of “Massachusetts Charter Cap Holds Back Disadvantaged Students," available at http://educationnext.org/massachusetts-charter-cap-holds-back-disadvantaged-students/
Short-selling, the practice of betting against stocks by agreeing to sell equities that you don't own, has been in the headlines recently. The share price of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. has fallen nearly 90 percent from its peak since being targeted by prominent short-sellers including Citron Research's Andrew Left and Bronte Capital's John Hempton, while some other types of short-sellers have been given the Hollywood treatment with the release of the film version of Michael Lewis's The Big Short. This week, Tracy joins forces with Bloomberg Markets Reporter Luke Kawa, to take a look at the fraught life of the American short-seller. We speak with Marc Cohodes, managing general partner at Copper River Management LLC, well-known short-seller and part-time chicken farmer. Known for his high-profile campaign against Overstock.com, Cohodes highlights the less glamorous side of short-selling including protracted legal battles and sifting through trash cans for clues to a company's sales volume. He also speaks about the social benefits provided by short sellers, the fine line they must walk during public battles, and why Canadians can't stand when someone bets against a domestic company.
