It's Thursday, March 20th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Irish pastor in hot water for preaching outside hospital Authorities in Northern Ireland are prosecuting a retired pastor for preaching outside a general hospital. Seventy-six-year-old pastor, Clive Johnston, held an open-air Sunday service outside the facility last July. While the hospital does perform abortions, he made no reference to abortion, pointing people to Jesus Christ. Officials are charging Johnston with violating the Abortion Services Safe Access Zones Act. He now faces a criminal record and fines totaling thousands of pounds. The Christian Institute is representing Johnston. Simon Calvert, Deputy Director of the group, said this. CALVERT: “Prosecuting someone for preaching John 3:16 near a hospital on a quiet Sunday is an outrageous imposition on free speech and Gospel freedom.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Hungary bans events that celebrate sexual perversion Hungary's parliament passed a law Tuesday banning events that celebrate sexually perverted lifestyles. Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán pulled no punches. ORBAN: “I advise [homosexual and transgender] pride organizers not to bother with the preparation of this year's parade. It would be a waste of money and time.” Orban wrote on X, “Today, we voted to ban gatherings that violate child protection laws. In Hungary, a child's right to healthy physical, mental, intellectual, and moral development comes first. We won't let woke ideology endanger our kids.” In response, members of a liberal opposition party, known as Momentum, lit colorful smoke flares inside the Hungarian Parliament while Orban was talking. They also rudely displayed manipulated pictures of Orban kissing Vladimir Putin. Plus, homosexual and transgender activists blocked a bridge in central Budapest in protest. And one homosexual man offered his analysis. PROTESTER: “It's quite terrifying, to be honest, because we had the same in Russia. It was building up step by step. I feel like this is what's going on here. I'm not surprised that Viktor Orban doesn't have any original ideas. He only copying Putin or Trump.” Hungary's new law builds on the previous Child Protection Law which bans the promotion of homosexuality. Dept. of Defense to cut 60,000 civilian jobs In the United States, the Defense Department plans to cut up to 60,000 civilian jobs. The department aims to cut 5% to 8% of its civilian workforce which numbers nearly 900,000. Already 21,000 employees have voluntarily resigned. The department hopes to make many of the cuts by simply not replacing workers who leave on a regular basis. The cuts are part of President Donald Trump's efforts to slim down the federal workforce. Trump paused $175 million to UPENN over male in women's sports FOX Business reports the Trump administration paused $175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania yesterday. At issue is the university's inclusion of men, pretending to be women, in women's sports, specifically William Thomas, a senior, who now goes by the feminine name Lia, and stole first place from Riley Gaines, a biological woman. The Department of Education is also investigating the Ivy League school following Trump's executive order to keep men out of women's sports. At stake is the university's total federal funding which amounted to around $1 billion last year. Minneapolis ordered to pay $450,000 to pro-life group over violation The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota agreed to pay $450,000 in a pro-life case last week. The city had barred Pro-Life Action Ministries from working near an abortion mill. The ministry sued the city in 2023 and won their case thanks to the help of the Thomas More Society. Peter Breen, executive vice president of the Christian legal group said, “Politicians seeking to hinder and silence the efforts of pro-life sidewalk counselors should think twice—or it will cost them.” U.S. birth rate up thanks to Hispanic women U.S. births rose slightly last year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There were just over 3.6 million births last year, up 22,250 births from 2023. The rise in births is due in part to a rise in births among Hispanic women. The U.S. birthrate has been falling for years, and experts don't expect last year's uptick to change the overall trend. 52% of Protestant churches grew after COVID pandemic Lifeway Research released a new report on worship service attendance for Protestant churches in the U.S. since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. The report found 52% of churches experienced growth in worship attendance. Meanwhile, 33% saw attendance plateau and 15% experienced decline. Also, around half of Protestant churches had at least 10 people make a new commitment to Jesus Christ as their Savior in the past year. Christian college students wrote Gospel of John on sidewalks And finally, Christian students wrote the entire Gospel of John on campus sidewalks at Western Kentucky University last week. Nearly 70 students from Baptist Campus Ministry and Cru, formerly Campus Crusade for Christ, and Hilltoppers for Christ got together with chalk to complete the task in about two and a half hours. Afterwards, they prayed for students at the university. Luke Alford, Vice President of Baptist Campus Ministry, told Kentucky Today, “People look for answers in a lot of different things, and I think it's really good to have answers right in front of them.” John 1:1, 4 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, March 20th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Turns out, it's more than just a quirky calendar quirk. Leap year, with its extra day added to February every four years, serves a vital purpose in keeping our calendar in sync with the Earth's orbit around the sun. Without it, major events would gradually shift, seasons would become misaligned, and holidays like Christmas might end up in the wrong season. That Earth's orbit isn't precisely 365 days long—it's actually about 365.25 days. By adding an extra day every four years, we keep our calendar in harmony with celestial events like equinoxes and solstices. So, now you know, Paulding County. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Pakistani Muslims killed two Christians Random killings of professing Christian believers continue in Pakistan. Last month, one man was killed by Muslims when he had attempted to stop them from stealing his guava fruit. And now, a Catholic father of six, Emmanuel Masih, was beaten to death by a Muslim landowner who falsely claimed he took oranges from his grove, reports Morning Star News. Pray for Emmanuel's family which has lost its only breadwinner. Pakistani teen girl abducted, forcibly married to 60-year-old Muslim And here's yet another story of an abducted Christian girl in Pakistan. This time, a 15-year-old daughter was abducted and forcibly married to a 60-year-old Muslim, reports Morning Star News. Saira Arif was kidnapped on December 15 by Rana Tayyab in the Yousafabad area of Faisalabad, Pakistan. After nearly two months of appeals, the Pakistan police finally registered the case. Forbes Magazine has reported that at least 1,000 women from religious minorities are forcibly converted and married annually in the country. Will there ever be any justice served in this dark and evil land of Pakistan? According to Open Doors, it is the seventh most difficult country worldwide to be a Christian. Pray for the Christian Gospel to make it to this poor country. Hindu mob in India attacks Christians, leaving 2,500 homeless Things are getting tougher for Christians in India as well. Violent attacks by radical Hindus over the last two months have left 2,500 Christians homeless. And the government is doing little to address it. According to International Christian Concern, a Christian leader from the north said, “No worship service on Sunday is taking place in the villages of Narayanpur and Kondagaon districts. Christians are traumatized and constantly living under fear and intimidation. Their survival is looking very grim on the ground; they need prayers and a helping hand.” Canadian pastors vindicated for in-person services during COVID Here's good news for Christian churches in Canada. A Canadian court has dismissed charges against pastors in Ontario and New Brunswick for holding in-person church services during the COVID-19 crisis. Pastors Phillip James Hutchings of His Tabernacle Family Church in Saint John and Pastor Aaron Rock of Harvest Bible Church in Windsor have been vindicated. Earthquake fatalities in Turkey/Syria soar to 35,000 The fatalities resulting from last week's earthquake in Turkey and Syria now exceed 35,000. That's the deadliest earthquake since the Haitian earthquake of 2010 where 100,000 to 300,000 people died. An estimated 800,000 people have died in earthquakes thus far this century. 163,000 have died in hurricanes and cyclones. Meanwhile, 30 million died of HIV/AIDS in this century; 7 million of COVID 19 according to Worldometers, and about 30 million have died by tuberculosis. These have been the most serious pandemic diseases and causes of death by acts of God since the turn of the century. Before Him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at His feet.” Winning Super Bowl quarterback gives glory to God In Super Bowl 57 on Sunday, quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, reports The Associated Press. That's the second Super Bowl win for Kansas City in four years. Mahomes, the youngest quarterback to start three Super Bowls, was given the MVP award for the game. It turns out he is an outspoken Christian, reports SportsSpectrum.com. Listen to part of his testimony he gave shortly before playing the Super Bowl in Phoenix. MAHOMES: “My Christian faith plays a role in everything that I do. Now, I always ask God to lead me in the right direction and let me be who I am in His name. So, it has a role in everything that I do. And obviously it will be on a huge stage and a Super Bowl that he's given me and I want to make sure I'm glorifying him while I do it.” Mahomes discussed his strategy. MAHOMES: “It's about just playing for your teammates, just trying to do whatever you can to win the game for your teammates beside you. And, in that moment, God gave me the strength to run and get that first down and get us in the field-goal range.” Few Gen Zers are conservative, yet nearly 20% attend church A recent report on Gen Z-ers produced by the Walton Family Foundation found only 10% of young people between the ages of 15 and 25 years old call themselves conservative, compared to 26% of older adults over 26 years of age. But 18% of Gen Zers still attend church regularly, and that's similar to the rest of the population. A slightly higher percent of Gen Zers claim to be Evangelical compared with the older population. Yet only 9% claim to be liberal Protestant, while 23% of the older population claim to be liberal Protestant. And 16% of Gen Zers identify with some kind of perverted sexuality, compared to 4% of the older population. Is revival breaking out in Wilmore, Kentucky? Kentucky Today reports on an extended revival service taking place at Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. It's gone on now five days longer than initially scheduled. Asbury College was the site of another revival in 1970. How do you know if this is a true, efficacious work of the Holy Spirit? The article quotes Tim Beougher, the pastor of West Broadway Baptist Church and a professor at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He said, “It's not how high you jump, it's how straight you walk when you land. It's the fruit that comes from it.” Psalm 85 brings out this prayer: “Wilt thou not revive us again: that Thy people may rejoice in Thee? Show us Thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us Thy salvation.” Penguin fossil from 7-foot, 350-pound bird before worldwide flood And finally, paleontologists have found the remains of a huge penguin, probably a species that existed before God destroyed the world in Noah's flood. Kentucky Today reports that there were no abortions in the state in September, and only two lives were lost to abortion in October. Meanwhile, the electorate voted down the pro-life initiative in the November election by a vote of 53% to 47%. The proposed constitutional amendment declared: “To protect human life, nothing in this Constitution shall be construed to secure or protect a right to abortion or require the funding of abortion.” Kentucky has a trigger law in place prohibiting abortion except for saving a woman's life or preventing serious risk to her physical health. Pool of Siloam to be opened to public The Israeli Antiquities Authority has announced that the ancient Pool of Siloam will be opened for visitors within the next few months. Excavation has begun on this historic pool where Jesus healed the blind man. The pool is dated back to the eighth century B.C., during the reign of King Hezekiah. The pool was over an acre in expanse. The perimeter of the pool was stepped, allowing bathers to sit and immerse themselves in the waters. John 9:6-7 tells of Jesus who “spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So, he went and washed, and came back seeing.” 5.4- Richter scale earthquake in Northern California As God's providence rules and directs all of the natural world, a second earthquake hit Northern California on Sunday, registering 5.4 on the Richter Scale. Amy Grant set to perform homosexual faux wedding Christian pop singer Amy Grant told the Washington Post she would be hosting a homosexual faux wedding on her family farm. She summarized the Christian faith to the left-leaning newspaper this way: “Jesus, You just narrowed it down to two things: love God and love each other. I mean, hey, that's pretty simple.” But Franklin Graham pointed out that Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).” The evangelist said, “God defines what is sin, not us; and His Word is clear that homosexuality is sin.” Grant also detailed her reaction when her niece first came out of the closet to announce her homosexuality. She said, “What a gift to our whole family to just widen the experience of our whole family.” Plus, in an interview with Proud Radio in 2021, the popular singer said, “Gay. Straight. It does not matter.” The economic bloodbath of 2022 The NASDAQ composite index more than tripled in six years. The index dropped 35% in 2022 with six market rallies to attempt to arrest the slide. During the economic bloodbath of 2022, Tesla stock fell 70%. Amazon fell 56%, Meta or Facebook fell 68%, and Apple 29%. Bear markets, where stocks are losing value, have lasted as long as one and a half to two and a half years (over the last 70 years). So far, this bear market has lasted for about 14 months. Andy Biggs challenges Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker spot In his bid to become Speaker of the House, Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California is still short 14 votes. The conservative House Freedom Caucus does not support his candidacy. Challenging him for the seat is Republican Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, chairman of the Freedom Caucus, reports AZ Central. Biggs refers to McCarthy as a RINO Establishment hack — or a Republican in Name Only. In a December 6th Daily Caller column, Biggs wrote, “We will never defeat or change the status quo, which is taking us to the Leftist's vision of America, by selecting a status quo candidate as the third most powerful person in the government.” TheHill.com made public a letter to Republicans signed by seven conservatives. Buffalo Church rescued 154 people on brutal Christmas Day In the midst of four feet of snow, one Buffalo, New York pastor and his team have made the news for reaching out and saving at least 128 people in the big storm over Christmas. Pastor Al Robinson of the Spirit of Truth Urban Ministry was surprised to discover their church still had power, while the neighborhoods around had lost their power. He described to News Nation what one family endured as well as the treacherous conditions. ROBINSON: “We had one family that first came here, a family I believe of eight. When they arrived their clothes were frozen to their skin. It was devastating what happens with people with severe hypothermia. The wind was negative 24 degrees. It was blowing between 50 and 70 miles per hour. You couldn't see your if you extended your arm out in front of your face. It was terrible!” The church team used iPhones and location-tracking applications to identify people needing help, and engaged rescue operations using snowmobiles. In total, the church sheltered 154 persons on Christmas Day. Pastor Robinson described the diversity of the people whom they rescued who celebrated the birth of Christ together in their warm church. ROBINSON: “We were all celebrating Christmas together and it was all nationalities. It was Arabic; it was Bengali; it was Iranian; it was Nigerian; it was Irish, Polish, Italian. I mean it was magnificent. I'd like to say it's like what we will see in Heaven!” Isaiah 58:6-7 has this for all believers: “Is this not the fast that the Lord has chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke. Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out?” Couple celebrated 80th anniversary And finally, Robert and Edith Mae Schaum of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, have just celebrated their 80th anniversary! Robert revealed to WGAL News the secret to a happy marriage. ROBERT: “I guess the secret would be ‘don't go to bed mad.'” Indeed, Ephesians 4:26 says, “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” Both are 102 years old.
