Welcome to Loan Officer Freedom, the #1 podcast in the country for loan officers, hosted by Carl White. In this episode, Carl White sits down with Kevin Gillespie to tackle one of the most misunderstood tools in a loan officer's business: the CRM. They unpack why so many LOs either hide inside their CRM to avoid making calls or ignore it altogether, and how both extremes quietly cost them deals every single month. They break down the biggest mistakes loan officers make, including expecting automation to replace conversations, letting their database go stale, overcomplicating campaigns, and promoting the company brand while forgetting that people refer people, not logos. Carl shares why the CRM should support your calls, not substitute for them, and how simple systems beat fancy setups every time. You will also hear the math behind why every 100 contacts in your database can be worth 12 loans a year, how "octopus marketing" keeps you top of mind across multiple channels, and why retargeted ads to your database and referral partners can dramatically increase your visibility for just a few dollars a day. If you are a loan officer or branch leader who wants to stop overthinking your CRM and start turning it into a predictable income machine, this episode lays out a simple, practical game plan you can implement immediately. If you are a branch manager or owner who wants help building a branded, attraction-based marketing system that actually drives production, learn more at ProfitDrivenPlan.com.

Welcome to Loan Officer Freedom, the #1 podcast in the country for loan officers, hosted by Carl White. In this episode, Carl White sits down with Kevin Gillespie to unpack what actually creates explosive growth inside a branch or mortgage company and why most leaders miss it. They kick things off with a simple but powerful question: Do you really have a sales culture, or are you just hoping your team will prospect on their own? Kevin breaks down the difference between having a title and creating true leadership, and how commitment, structure, and psychological safety are the foundation of consistent production. You will hear the three core drivers of a winning sales culture: structured group prospecting, smart CRM leverage without using it as a hiding place, and creating "the stage" through regular presentations and events that position your team as the expert. Carl and Kevin share real examples of leaders who doubled, tripled, and even quadrupled their production by implementing these systems with consistency. If you are a branch manager, team leader, or producing manager who wants higher per-LO production without adding chaos, this episode lays out a practical blueprint you can start using immediately. 0:26~Our first guest, Chef-Owner Dominic Piperno, began his culinary journey as a youth. Guided at a young age by his Grandparents who immigrated to the USA from Germany & Italy, Chef Piperno gained a lifetime of knowledge on how to cook with zero food-waste, using the freshest ingredients, and balancing his passion as a chef with personal time. With those seeds planted, it is no wonder that he circled back to those habits ingrained in him from his upbringing. This is why he chose to switch from an a la carte menu at Hearthside in Collingswood to the more efficient tasting menu. You can visit Hearthside to experience an elevated menu, curated with the best ingredients that Chef Piperno obtained, for an exquisite dinner for two via making a reservation.17:16~Commercial Break17:40~We next spoke with Joey Ward, whose passion to bring fine dining to Georgia stems from years of experience beginning as a young man. At 16 years old, he began his career while working at a local country club. After earning an AA Degree at the Culinary Institute of America in 2005, he continued his education while working as the Sous Chef at Woodfire Grill in Atlanta under Season 6's Top Chef's Kevin Gillespie, and later as Gillespie's Executive Chef inside Gunshow. Armed with the knowledge, skills, and sophistication to create a successful Chef's Tasting experience, Ward opened the joint ventures, Southern Belle and Georgia Boy.37:35~Commercial Break37:49~To say that our last guest, Chef Steve Chu, is humble, warm-hearted, and hard-working would be an understatement: His desire to ensure you enjoy the foods he creates seemed to outweigh any proclivity to brag about himself or the impressive achievements he has founded. In fact, his energy is practically palpable; Chu's passion for food and ensuring you have a positive experience was at the forefront of what he expressed. I only hope that you can visit one of his locations and taste for yourselves the passion he expresses through his culinary creations.
Chef Joey Ward joins host Jennifer Zyman. Ward is the executive chef/owner of Southern Belle and Georgia Boy in Atlanta. He spent his formative years at Atlanta's Cherokee Town & Country Club and earned his degree in Culinary Arts Management from the Culinary Institute of America in 2005. He returned South to begin his career as sous chef on the opening of The St. Regis Atlanta before working under Woodfire Grill's former executive chef and Bravo “Top Chef” alum Kevin Gillespie. The two worked to open Gunshow in 2013, where Ward served as executive chef for six years. He now brings this expertise to Southern Belle and Georgia Boy, his first solo restaurant ventures that opened in 2019. Both concepts aim to celebrate the diversity of arts, culture, food, and people of his home state. Ward has been recognized as a James Beard Award semi-finalist in the Best Chef: Southeast category in 2022, named Best Chef by Atlanta Magazine and awarded the prestigious Trifoliate Award in 2021, and named a Rising Star by StarChefs in 2018. In his spare time, Ward spends time with his dogs and his wife, Emily, a spirited Southern belle for whom the restaurant was named. When it comes to Heroes of Eye Street, the late Fr. Horace McKenna,SJ, is in his own category - potential saint. Horace may be the most impactful Jesuit to never teach in an actual Gonzaga classroom. But, oh did Fr. McKenna teach. And the world learned: Gonzaga students, fellow Jesuits, member of the St. Al's Catholic Community; all of Washington learned from Fr. McKenna how to see Christ in everyone. He died in May of 1982, but Horace's saintly legacy continues today in the McKenna Center (formerly the St. Vincent de Paul Center). The Gonzaga community will participate Saturday morning in the 5th Annual Walk4McKenna (click the link for more information) Guests: Fr. Thomas Buckley, SJ, Fr. Kevin Gillespie, SJ, and Dr. Kimberly K. Cox, Ph.D, President of The McKenna Center. Support the Bicentennial Campaign #ForeverGonzagaSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
