TaxConnex tackles telecom tax complexity, offers white glove service, Podcast “We don't want to just be a return provider,” says Robert Dumas, Managing Partner of TaxConnex. “We want to be part of the tax team. We want to be the telecom tax expert. So our clients can call us up with all sorts of tax questions unrelated to actual filings because we want to be able to help them manage the process holistically from invoicing all the way to the remittance.” “In telecom specifically, you have significantly more localities, counties, and cities that have city ordinances or codes that give them the ability to directly assess a utility tax or communications tax. These taxes generally apply to communications, gas, or electric utilities. But it's thousands of potential returns throughout the country. And then, of course, you have to add the E911 fees. And, again, many of the E911 fees are collected at the city and county level because the cities and counties manage their own emergency management systems, and those fees are necessary to fund them. So we are still remitting thousands of returns a month specifically to folks in California Missouri Nebraska and Colorado, just every place that has a local E911 or utility users tax of some kind.” In this podcast, Robert outlines how his firm offers a different take on telecom tax issues. Robert outlines how his firm offers a complete white glove service, with customized services and an interesting approach to providing personalized account services. TaxConnex is a new CCA member who brings decades of tax experience their clients. Visit https://www.taxconnex.com/

We all hear the negatives of VAs and assistants. There are cultural inconsistencies. There are time differences that can't be avoided. You hire people to do XYZ, and they do ABC. When done right, hiring virtual assistants and remote workers is a game changer in the best possible way. But when it's not, it can create even more work for you in the long run. Here to tell us how they can make this entire process a bit easier for busy business owners is Tanika de Souza, founder of High Octane Teams. High Octane Teams specializes in sourcing and curating top talent for diverse roles, offering a "white glove" solution to clients' team needs. Their service goes beyond mere matching; they provide vital training and ongoing support to foster successful working relationships. Their process includes rigorous candidate qualification, thorough background checks, and CV reviews, ensuring their clients a seamless, personalized hiring experience. But what truly distinguishes High Octane Teams is their dedication to building lasting connections with their remote workers, even if they eventually move on to other opportunities. They're a human resource company with both a brain and a heart, and it's this level of connection and loyalty that is the secret sauce that keeps clients coming back for more. We also cover a common business pitfall: the belief that adding more people can solve operational challenges. Tanika highlights how this approach often misses the mark, as the root cause of productivity issues often lies in flawed systems, not personnel. Throwing more manpower at the problem without addressing the underlying systemic issues helps no one - and ultimately hinders growth. Tune in to learn more about the value of skilled virtual assistants and how High Octane can help you with your next hire. Episode Highlights: How High Octane Teams came to be Tips for monitoring remote productivity Tracking Time vs. Job Completion Interview Dos and Don'ts Why she's slow to hire, quick to fire Her plans for certification programs The biggest changes she sees coming in the next five years of remote work Favorite Quote: "To me, it's not just checking the box on a skill. Shawn Davis is the Founder and CEO of Davis & Co. Custom Builders, a family-owned and operated full-service construction and remodeling company providing service to the greater Nashville, TN areas. Shawn's experience includes facets of marketing, management, project planning, and strategic partnerships. Under his leadership, yearly revenue has more than doubled since the company launched in 2019. Shawn is passionate about prioritizing customer satisfaction with white-glove service. In this episode… While construction is known for being a labor-intensive industry, people underestimate the social aptitude required to deliver customer satisfaction. In any customer-facing position, your ability to communicate effectively can determine the success of your business. Regardless of your social skills, some clients will not be as easy to contend with. How do you prioritize customer satisfaction without compromising quality? As often as the phrase “The customer is always right” is used in industries providing high-paid services, it's not always accurate. Especially in construction, clients often believe they know best and may resist alternative perspectives. Entrepreneur Shawn Davis has found the most efficient way to diffuse the situation is by educating the customer as to why their request is unacceptable while still partnering with them to help bring their vision to life. In doing so, he implemented a white-glove service system involving customers by providing regular project updates. Going above and beyond in communicating with your customers can increase customer satisfaction. On this episode of This is Concrete, Chad Gill welcomes Shawn Davis, Founder and CEO of Davis & Co. Custom Builders, to discuss prioritizing customer satisfaction without compromising quality. Shawn shares what he's done to foster effective communication between his team and clients, why communication is vital in construction businesses, and innovative ways to provide customers with affordable options.
