First Snow of Summer is a film about broken promises, love and a lesson for living your life passionately. The film is the debut of Austrian director Chris Raiber, who creates a somewhat bizarre but heartwarming world in the depths of Vienna's subway.
Seascape mixes are some of my favorite ambient mixes. The genre seems to perfectly suited to floating and drifting on an endless sea. Two of my favorite ambient tracks of all time are "sea" ambient - https://marsenjules.bandcamp.com/track/submarine-poetry https://infraction.bandcamp.com/track/the-most-beautiful-blue I absolutely love those two tracks! I'm always up for a new seascape mix and that's what we have here - a new collection of tracks mostly from 2023 & 2024, with one from 2020 and one from all the way back in 2008. Put the oars back in the boat, kick your feet up and drift away. Cheers! Woo-hah! We got here at last. Yule is upon us and it's time for another State of the Podcast before we enter our Winterregnum period. In this bit of bonus content, we're talking about statistics from the Season, plans for the next one, little life updates, and whatever else crossed our brains on a chilly weekday night. If Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus, and we celebrate it on December 25, then Jesus must have been born on that day, right? Not so fast! We actually have no good idea when Jesus was born. And besides, the observance of his birth on December 25 is a 4th century contrivance. But why December 25 of all days? In today's episode, professor and author Michael Foley joins Brian to make sense of it all. This is a meditation preached by Fr. Eric Nicolai on March 15th 2024 at Ernescliff College. It is based on Wisdom 2, 12-20: Let us lie in wait for the righteous man, because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions; he reproaches us for sins against the law, and accuses us of sins against our training. He professes to have knowledge of God,and calls himself a child of the Lord.He became to us a reproof of our thoughts;the very sight of him is a burden to us,because his manner of life is unlike that of others, and his ways are strange. We are considered by him as something base, and he avoids our ways as unclean;he calls the last end of the righteous happy, and boasts that God is his father.Let us see if his words are true, and let us test what will happen at the end of his life; for if the righteous man is God's son, he will help him, and will deliver him from the hand of his adversaries." This reality of what is to come serves as a principle of hope in our life. A principle of stability, a guiding post for meaning and purpose in all that will happen.
