It's all about the relationship, sister! And in this episode, we dive into how to start relationships, how to nurture them, and how these relationships help you build your team (in a non-salesy way)! In other news, there is something very exciting coming up -- I'm hosting a bootcamp and it's all about BUILDING YOUR TEAM! Be sure to subscribe to my email to be the FIRST to know about when doors are opening. In this episode we talk about: How building your team comes down to relationships. That relationship marketing is the case in all sales, and why it's important. How the reality is, it takes time. Relationships take time, and that is OK. Be patient in the process. Don't accost people! It's not a blame game. Your job is to help others, not blame others on why they don't want to do xyz thing. Nobody owes you anything. But you can serve others at a deeper level. Who is your ideal customer? What is it that they need and want? It's important for you to know how to help them! When you show up to serve things happen organically! If you remember anything, remember this. Even if you don't see results immediately, don't give up. You don't know what's happening behind the scenes. Take the time to be present and genuinely get to know people. You got to show your face on social media! Get uncomfortable and do it and see your face and hear your voice! Because when they see your face they feel connected to you! If you're not having conversations, you won't be building the relationship. My challenge this week for you is to be intentional and authentic with the conversations you are already having. Let me know how it goes and DM me that you got on stories or what action you took! Do you have a dream? What things excite you in your life and business? In this week's episode, we are talking all about your ‘WHY' and how that is intricately tied to your dreams and vision for your business and your future. If you want to grow as a person as well as in your business, this is the episode for you! In this episode we talk about: What is your vision, what is your dream? And if you feel like you don't have one, you don't have direction. Start creating your vision today! What is your ‘why'? I find that we forget about our ‘‘why' and we forget about the importance of it. Why are you doing this business? We all have highs and lows in business. What will separate you from other direct sellers will be what you do during those low-lows. Do you keep going or do you give up? There are two ways to earn money in Direct Selling: Selling your product and growing your team. The most sustainable way is having both. Take a moment to DREAM! What would your life look like? In your DREAM ---How do you want to serve others? How do you want to impact others? When you lead with serving--- that is where the magic happens! When you do this exercise, BEWARE of the inner mean girl!! Don't fall prey to the fear of dreaming. Shut down those negative thoughts and get going! It's so important for you to have this dream/vision because this is what causes you to put one foot in front of the other! Ask yourself - what is your dream? And create a vision from that TODAY! DM Rachel your dreams and vision! Links: Rachel's Instagram Rachel's Website
Most work environments prioritize profits over people. But there are other ways businesses can look—if we're willing to imagine them.Rachel and Travis Gertz are the founders of Louder Than Ten, a cooperative company on a mission to democratize the workplace through project management. Through their training and apprenticeship programs, they show digital organizations how to give power back to the people leading their projects. When some people talk about this, it seems like such a radical idea, but it's actually so practical. It's just a very common-sense way to make sure that you're more sustainable. Worker cooperatives last longer, people stay longer, they ride out through the rough times. Because the first thing that a capitalist framework company is going to do is they're going to cut their workers, right? And then they're going to retain all the earnings up at the top. But if you're a worker-owned cooperative, everybody has to support and pitch in. So I just think it's just a very practical system.—Rachel Gertz, CEO of Louder Than TenWe talk about:The history of cooperativesHow does a co-op work?Louder Than Ten's journey from “traditional” company to co-opSteps to turn a workplace from profits-focused to people-focusedHow gig workers and small businesses can leverage their power to build a more equitable workplaceResources and readings to learn morePlus: in this week's You've Got This, Sara offers tips for how to foster transparency in the workplace. Are you enough? Or do you feel you could be prettier, smarter, richer, or perhaps a better daughter, wife, or mother? In today's episode, we're talking about whether or not you really are enough. This is something you need to think about very deeply, in all aspects of your life, because the truth of it is that you are enough! Yes, you really are! Listen in now to find out more! There are so many areas in our lives where most of us just don't feel like we measure up. And thinking that we're not enough is a lie we tell ourselves when we're feeling insecure. Rachel is real and she also struggles sometimes with feeling that she's not enough. Preparing for this podcast was hard for her because it brought up so many difficult emotions and feelings. So, because it felt so raw, she knew that this was the right topic to discuss in today's episode. Tune in now, as Rachel makes herself vulnerable, tells some stories, and shares some of the things that work for her. Show Highlights: So many people ask themselves if they are enough, or feel like they don't measure up. We are constantly bombarded with images of really successful people and it's human nature to identify with some of them. Do you compare yourself to moms that you feel are doing a great job of mothering their kids? There are many things from our childhood that have helped create the belief that we're not enough. You have to start believing for yourself that you are enough. We have to come up with ways to show ourselves that we are enough. Thinking that we're not enough is a lie we tell ourselves when we're feeling insecure. We all have different types of love languages. If you're relying on someone else's words to make you feel like you're enough, it means that you have other problems. We have to find the strength within ourselves to know that we are enough, even though we're not perfect. Learning to love ourselves will help us to know we're enough. We're all living up to an unattainable standard in our minds. We are placing ridiculous expectations on ourselves and that makes us feel that we're not enough. Rachel tells a story about how she began to feel that she wasn't enough while out on a date with her husband. The way that Rachel is learning to stop judging herself and know that she really is enough. If you're super judgemental of people, chances are going to be judging yourself. And most of us tend to be judgemental even though we may not be aware of it. Why you have to learn to stop placing so much value on someone else's opinions of you. Shutting the lies up and letting go of the unreasonable expectations you have of yourself. Focusing on serving others will help you to know that you are enough. You really are enough! Do you find that you fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others? Today we're talking about the comparison trap, the trouble it brings, and how to overcome it. In the last episode, we spoke about the mean girl that lives inside your head, and why you really need to shut her down. It's important to realize that it becomes very easy to fall right back into her trap when we start to compare ourselves to others. This doesn't have to happen to you, though, if you've been doing the work that's necessary to quiet that mean girl down. Tune in now to find out more. At times, things just don't work out in the way we had hoped they would. When this happens we sometimes compare ourselves to others and we may even find that the thing we're comparing ourselves to in them isn't real at all. That will not help our state of mind in any way! Remember that you are just who you're supposed to be and there are great things for you! Listen in today, to find out what really happens when we compare ourselves to other people and why this comparison is really detrimental to your journey. Show Highlights: Rachel really wanted to have kids soon after she got married, but things just didn't work out that way for her. Rachel found that she was comparing herself to something that wasn't even real. What really happens when we compare ourselves to other people. The first thing that happens is that we begin to feel inferior. We become jealous when we compare ourselves to others. Nothing good comes from jealousy and it just grows and grows. Jealousy puts you in a place of negativity. We get stuck when we compare ourselves to others. Negative energy is like a roadblock in our lives. Comparison prevents you from moving forward. We all have a different calling on our lives. You aren't focusing on your truth when you make comparisons. You need to be focusing on your own growth. Nobody's life is as perfect as we think it is. Rachel challenges you to stop and turn around when you find yourself comparing yourself to others because you need to be focusing on your own story, not theirs. Do you find yourself thinking mean and negative thoughts about yourself? It doesn't matter how successful you are, or even if you're the best mom in the whole wide world, we all have these thoughts. In today's episode, we're going to be talking about that mean girl. Not the one you had to deal with in middle school, or high school, but the one that lives inside your head! Tune in now to find out more. Sometimes our inner mean girl yells at us louder than our thoughts and at times she even overpowers everything else we're thinking. This inner mean girl is not cool at all- and she's bringing you down! She really doesn't belong in your head, and she has no place in your life, so listen in today, to start the process of stopping her. Show Highlights: This mean girl tends to get louder when you're stepping out in fear. Mean Girl starts dropping negative thoughts in your mind when you step out of your comfort zone. There are so many reasons why you may not be feeling good about yourself. Mean Girl preys on us when we're feeling weak and insecure, so those are the times her voice will be the loudest. We all need to be aware of the mean girl in our head when we're feeling low, inferior, or that everyone else is much better than us. We're bringing Mean Girl into the light and calling her out on her stuff- and we are going to start the process of stopping her! Some places you should stay away from if you're feeling weak, vulnerable, or insecure. Pinterest is not a good place to go if you're not feeling good about yourself. Rachel tells a story about how her mean girl tried to make her feel bad about herself. The steps you need to take to shut Mean Girl down. Mean girl is a liar so you need to identify the three lies that she tells you most often and write them down. Turn Mean Girl's lies into truths and write each of them own on a separate Post-it note as an affirmation. Say the affirmations out loud in the mirror every day for at least two weeks. You really are enough, and you are amazing! Links: Rachel on Instagram: Rachel A Perry Please share this podcast on Instagram and tag Rachel. Show highlights: Great things don't come from comfort zones. You have to step out if you want to grow. One of the dangers of being comfortable is that you miss out on learning from the experience of being uncomfortable. Learning and evolving from the experience of being uncomfortable. We are designed to reach for bigger and better things. The only way to reach for bigger and better things is by getting uncomfortable. Why our faith deepens and our spirituality grows when we're uncomfortable. When we're uncomfortable and we become deeper and more complex humans. Missing out on a richer life by remaining in a comfort zone. Finding your truth by stepping out. Experiencing overwhelming feelings and a desire to run away when stepping away from the comfort zone. The beauty that comes from being scared. The beautiful things that happen when you get uncomfortable. Becoming stronger and an even better version of yourself. You will feel great if you step out of your comfort zone and overcome your fears. Rachel encourages you to move away from your comfort zone, get scared, embrace the feeling of being uncomfortable, and start growing! Kim interviews Rachel Hazell “The Travelling Bookbinder”, who teaches how to make artist books. Get bonus episodes by supporting Art Supply Posse About Rachel Hazell Rachel Hazell travels the world teaching people how to make artist books. She has built a giant two meter tall book for a fashion design exhibit which visitors wrote in, and which travelled the world. Rachel has visited Antarctica three times, teaching sailors to write poetry on a Navy ship, and working as “Postmistress and Penguin Monitor” (her official job title, obviously). Artist Books Artist books vary from regular books in their materials which are often customised with hand drawn or hand printed designs. The materials can be very diverse and even feature found objects. Artist books can be unique one-off books, or handmade by a book bindery in small runs, but are generally not mass produced. Artist books push the boundaries of bookbinding and challenge your expectations of what a book can be. Rachel’s book titled “Bound” has easy to follow projects showing you how to make artist books. Rachel Swanson joins me for episode 85 to have a conversation that I think most women will be able to relate to. Rachel is a wife, mother to 3, former dental hygienist—her smile is amazing—and now life coach, author and speaker. I asked Rachel to join me to talk about what spiritual and personal investments women need to make in their own lives, why women tend to carry so much anxiety and practical ways to help you in the moment when you feel anxious or overwhelmed. Links: Rachel's coloring book: Big and Little Coloring Devotional Takeaways From Our Conversation: One thing that stuck with me was the reasons why we struggle with anxiety. I had never thought about how much fear is the root of all anxiety. The four root causes of anxiety are fear of lack of control, failure, loss and rejection. I can look at the anxiety I face and pin point the root. Knowing the root helps you to be able to pray more specifically. Surviving being a mom of little kids requires some intentional self-care. Go back to the basics of nurturing your soul—prayer and reading your bible and times of stillness to listens to God. talk to god in the car. utilize the power of prayer. Practical tips - sticky notes. Before she goes to sleep, she writes out 3 things she wants to accomplish the next day. She doesn’t have to worry about anything more. It helps her to not stress. And cut the guilt and hire the help. When it comes to self-care, figure out something that fills you up - daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly. I recently wrote a guest blog post over at the Parent Cue blog on this very topic What did you enjoy about this episode? What was your takeaway. Let's continue the conversation on Instagram or Twitter or you can send me an email here. Thank you for following along life with me. I love being apart of your day. And as always, I hope this show helps you survive a little easier.

Hola Muchacho’s, It’s episode #95 and I have Rachel David on the show to talk about an upcoming all forged metal show she and Zach Lihatsh are hosting in New Orleans. Rachel is a blacksmith and artist living and working in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her business is called Red Metal Designs. And Zach is an artist blacksmith living in Arizona, he’s a graduate and instructor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. They will be hosting a very special art show containing juried forged art pieces that have been submitted by all of you, the blacksmith community. The art show is called “Nu Iron Age” and will be held in conjunction with the SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths) convention, May 24th – 27th. The details of the call for entry will be in the show notes for this episode on Blacksmither.com as well as the link to the website, called CAFÉ, in case you want to submit a piece. If you are unfamiliar with the CAFÉ system, you must register an account (a free account) to submit applications for the calls for art they have listed. I have uploaded a quick video of how easy it is to register in Café on my YouTube channel, Victoria Patti. Rachel and I talk all about how to submit a piece, who the juror is, and why they are doing the show. What We Talked About Nu Iron Age show dates – May 24, 2017 – May 27, 2017 Where – New Orleans Entry Deadline: 4/21/17 Deadline to receive artwork May 20th Media REQUIREMENTS: Images - Minimum: 1, Maximum: 6 Entry Fee (Nu Iron Age): $35.00 Blacksmiths; those that shape steel through fire and force, have often taken a backseat in the realm of modern art and design, deferring instead to function and tradition. The last 2 decades have seen a new generation of blacksmith evolve. They express an openness, and desire to engage with the art and design world. By organizing a show of contemporary forged iron work the hope is to connect blacksmithing with the wider conversation of metal work, contemporary craft, and the contemporary art world. This show will create a platform for relevant work within a fresh context. This show will happen in conjunction with this year’s SNAG conference. The SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths) 2017 Convention’s theme is “nexus; a connection or hub”. “Nexus: A Connection of Ideas” will focus on motivating thinkers, collectors, and makers, to bring new and old, materials, techniques, and ideas together in New Orleans. My guest for today is my Facebook friend Rachel Best. She’s a pastor’s kid who is now an out bisexual polyamorous atheist, so today’s episode is going to be about her journey. This week’s episode is a bit like Everyone’s Agnostic, where I basically just ask her questions about her journey. Hopefully Cass Midgley doesn’t sue me for copyright infringement because I want to do more episodes like this.Links:•Rachel on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rachel.d.best •No Religion Required: http://noreligionrequired.secularmediagroup.com/ •TDTFPod: http://soundcloud.com/tdtfpod •The Atheist in the Trailer Park: http://trailerparkatheist.libsyn.com/ •The Biskeptical Podcast: http://www.spreaker.com/show/the-biskeptical-podcast•Dream Youth: http://dreamyouth.bandcamp.com •Asher Silberman: http://www.ashersilberman.com/ •My Twitter: http://twitter.com/tmamone •Bi Any Means on Twitter: http://twitter.com/bianymeanspod •Bi Any Means on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/bianymeanspodcast •Email: bianymeanspodcast@gmail.com •Listener line: 410-690-3558 •My Patreon page: http://www.patreon.com/tmamone •Bi Any Means Blog: http://freethoughtblogs.com/bianymeans/

In 1988, a wildly talented musician named Bobby McFerrin released a song titled "Don't Worry, Be Happy." For those of us who remember this song, it was certainly catchy enough to often catch yourself whistling while walking to the bus stop. And yet who knew in the end just how useful those words would be if only we had really taken them to heart? Of course, easier said than done, but it sure would've been nice to not worry. That said, we're artists. Who are we kidding? And that's what makes this Gutter Talk episode with Rachel Dukes, artist and creator of Frankie Comics, so great. It's further confirmation that worrying as a young, budding artist just trying to get their bearing in this ocean of art, let alone in the lake of comics, is actually normal. It's even proof that yes, you can outgrow the worst of it. Now if only we had time machines.... Download the podcast and listen in as Adam and Rachel discuss why see-through rulers are better than rulers you can't see through, her Kickstarter project for Frankie Comics, and some of the hurtles she encountered as a kid when opportunities presented themselves. Also, be sure you are heading over to iTunes to give us a review and a rating. It'll be the easiest thing you do all day today. We promise. Then tell your friends to give the podcast a review and a rating. Then tell them to tell their friends to- well, you see where we're going with this.
