But he's decided to take it further at Lord's, recently appointed to become the next chair. We start by looking back at the finals weekend in Cricket's Hundred. London Spirit won the Women's title, whilst Oval Invincibles became the first men's team to retain their crown after beating Southern Brave- who's Eliminator game on Saturday was the first to be decided by a "Super 5". With the US Tennis Open fast approaching, players geared up with the Cincinnati Open. Anya Sabalenka won the women's final for her first title since January, whilst Jannik Sinner became the youngest winner of the men's title since Andy Murray in 2008. We also have updates from Rugby League's "Magic Weekend", the final stage of the Women's Tour de France, and the Scottish Women's Golf Open. It may feel like only 5 minutes since the end of last season's Premier League, but we are back on the merry go round again as this season kicked off at the weekend. We are joined by football expert Billy Carr to run the rule over the possible winners and losers, as well as asking if anyone can challenge Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot. Billy also talks about the blog he has started for the international weekends, with the first instalment being an excellent summary at the end of Gareth Southgate's reign at the Euros. Kate and Alex are back to reflect on the Hundred and victories for Oval Invincibles' men and London Spirit's women. CricBlog has gained access to an interview with cricket legend Ellyse Perry after her Hundred match for Birmingham Phoenix against London Spirit at Lord's. Perry scored 65 off 48 balls after fellow Australian and player of the match Meg Lanning struck 53 off 41 balls. It wasn't enough for the Phoenix as they fell short by 20 runs. Here is the audio of Perry's interview.

Ed and Charlie debate the players that London Spirit's Men's and Women's sides should retain ahead of Thursday's deadline day.
It's been a strange week with cricket being cancelled, unable to be rescheduled but we do now have our top 3 in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy! There's been a rollercoaster in the IT20s against India and some huge WBBL signings. This weekend is key in the RHF Trophy and it's all building up to the big final at Lords. This week we spoke to someone who has become very familiar with Lords over the summer. Chloe Brewer was part of London Spirit in this years Hundred and could be returning to Lords in just over a week to play in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Final with her side, South East Stars. We will be back next week with another guest but in the meantime, our Instagram, TikTok & YouTube is “Noughtie Child Podcast” and our Twitter is “00ChildPodcast” so feel free to give those a follow to stay up to date!
Australia wrapped up a 3-0 whitewash of the Kiwis in the Chappell-Hadlee series last night and calling the action for SEN was Darren Berry who has just returned from England after coaching the London Spirit in THE HUNDRED competition. Berry talked about the retirement of ODI skipper Aaron Finch, the performance of Steve Smith who blasted a magnificent hundred in game three, and his experiences in the motherland with the Spirit who fell at the penultimate hurdle.
Harrison Burridge, Rob Rush and Mark Machado bring you the action from Lord's as London Spirit take on the Welsh Fire
The Hundred 2022 women tournament starts on 11 August 2022, and London Spirit will be keen to go a touch better than last time, when they just missed out on the eliminator stages. They've suffered a big blow though with an injury to captain Heather Knight. Tammy Beaumont has also moved on, seeking a bigger role at the Welsh Fire. So it might be down to some of new faces: Beth Mooney is a top quality Australian batter, but it is perhaps the young Kiwi superstar Amelia Kerr who can lead the Spirit to success in 2022. This is The Hundred Club: a community for fans of short format cricket.
Mark Machado and Rob Rush, bring you a round up of the London Spirit's victory over the Manchester Originals and you can hear from Jordan Thompson & Phil Salt
Ed and Charlie preview the London Spirit Women's side ahead of the 2022 Hundred season.
Ed and Charlie preview the London Spirit Men's Outfit ahead of the 2022 Hundred Season.
The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022. London Spirit finished bottom of the group stage in 2021 and suffered the tragic loss of their head coach Shane Warne over the winter. How will the team return in 2022? Rich and Tom think the squad certainly looks better on paper. Will #1 draft pick Kieron Pollard live up to the price tag? Will Eoin Morgan rediscover his form without the England captaincy? Or is it up to Glenn Maxwell to provide the star quality? This is The Hundred Club: a community for fans of short format cricket.
This week, Hannah and Mihika sit down with Western storm and London Spirit superstar Dani Gibson. They talk about dealing with the highs and lows of cricket including her ACL injury and Dani calling herself injury prone. They also talk about the cruel fate of Net run rate and missing out on last year's Charlotte Edwards Cup finals days. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/womens-cricket-chat/message
Ed and Charlie give their initial thoughts on each teams haul in the 2022 Hundred Draft... (1:22) London Spirit, (11:05) Welsh Fire, (16:09) Manchester Originals, (23:01) Northern Superchargers, (29:39) Oval Invincibles, (36:04) Trent Rockets, (41:28) Birmingham Phoenix, (52:43) Southern Brave.
Ed and Charlie are joined by Lancashire and former Manchester Originals analyst Max Backhouse to run through each sides retentions for this years tournament. This podcast was recorded before the passing of Shane Warne, and so includes references to his plans for his London Spirit side. We love you Shane.
Rich and Tom react to some interesting decisions. There is no sign of Shefali Verma at Birmingham Phoenix, Tammy Beaumont is missing from London Spirit and the Trent Rockets have had a clear-out! Who has the most work to do before all of the contracts are signed and announced on 30 March 2022?
It turns out that a lot of the rumours were right: Glenn Maxwell will go to London Spirit but Quinton de Kock is not retained. Rashid Khan is back but there is no sign of some big West Indian names. Every team has left themselves work to do at the draft on 30 March 2022, including at least one top-tier pay bracket slot... will those spots be filled by the biggest names in cricket?
Ed and Charlie are joined by Jack from Pig Cricket to discuss his London Spirit side from our Hundred Redraft.

Chris Benjamin is one of the most amazing cricket stories to come out of The Hundred. He has gone from university student to Warwickshire's second XI to Birmingham Phoenix in just a couple of months. But he has grasped every opportunity. In his first match against London Spirit, he hit a match winning innings, was named Hero Of The Match and had Kevin Petersen drooling with his inventive shots. Since then, the impressive Birmingham Phoenix have swept aside their competition and on Saturday 21 August 2021 Chris will play his first ever match at Lord's... in the final of The Hundred. Rich and Tom ask Chris all about that journey, where it can take him next and whether he would rather face a fast ball from Marchant de Lange or Tymal Mills! Cricviz Analyst Ben Jones joined Ed and Charlie for a Men's Tournament Round-Up where they chatted about each team and the different tactics and trends we've been seeing in the tournament. London Spirit (0:32), Welsh Fire (10:46), Rebuilding the Spirit and Fire (19:40), Birmingham Phoenix (29:04), Oval Invincibles (44:06), Manchester Originals (52:54), Trent Rockets (58:52), Northern Superchargers (1:08:21), Southern Brave (1:19:36)
Tom and Rich discuss the action from round 5 of The Hundred as the tournament approaches its final stages. The women's competition continues to produce high quality matches and a few surprises, with stars like Tammy Beaumont, Nat Sciver and Jemimah Rodrigues continuing to shine. On the men's side, the London Spirit remain winless (much to Rich's frustration) but the other seven teams remain in the hunt for a place in the top three. Wahab Riaz justifies his late arrival with a scintillating display of white ball bowling and the batting of Birmingham Phoenix looks fearsome with Moeen Ali getting sterling support from youngsters Chris Benjamin and Will Smeed. There is just enough time to talk about the England versus India test match too... Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/xm5DxYTvjFc Follow us on twitter: https://twitter.com/thehundredclub1
Yesterday we caught up with Hampshire and London Spirit leg spinner Mason Crane. We chatted about what its like to bowl a 10 ball set, the mindset that he bowls with in the shortest format of the game and what it has been like to be coached by his idol Shane Warne.

This season, we are going to be focusing on “The Hundred”. The Hundred is an action-packed, unmissable new 100 ball cricket competition that will put you on the edge of your seat. Everyone is welcome. It will feature world-class players and massive names from around the world. Eight brand new city-based women's and men's teams will compete over five weeks every summer (Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Super Northern Chargers, Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire. A men's squad and women's squad will be formed for each team, with the competitions running alongside each other. Each squad will be made up of 15 players with a maximum of three overseas stars. This is huge for the women's game and this is something we are really passionate about. Each week we will discuss all the games that happen, the best and worst moments! The format was invented to attract younger and more diverse crowds to watch cricket, with the expectation that the shorter format will mean each match lasts around two-and-a-half hours. The BBC will show free-to-air broadcasts of the competition, while all of the women's matches and some of the men's matches will be available to stream for free on Sky Sports' YouTube channel. The tournament will give equal weight to both men's and women's sides, with almost all the matches taking place as back-to-back double-headers at the same venue on the same day. One ticket will give access to both the men's and women's games, while men and women will share the same prize money. Today, we are speaking to "Birmingham Pheonix" player Eve Jones and "Manchester Originals" player Georgie Boyce. We also are going to discuss the first match of the tournament: Oval Invincibles v Manchester Originals on the 21st July
Continuing our Team Preview Series, we take a look at the Lords based London Spirit. Coached by Shane Warne, the Spirit possess an experienced middle order and one of the most flexible bowling attacks in the competition. We take a look through their best team and give our predictions on how they'll perform this summer.
Tammy Beaumont is the form batter in women's cricket, and having a great 2021 series against India. But can she bring that form to The Hundred? She'll be alongside her current Indian opponent Deepti Sharma, along with the powerful all-rounders Deandra Dottin and Chloe Tryon. Rich, Oli and Tom discuss the squad of London Spirit but wonder whether they have enough seam and fast bowling options. This is The Hundred Club, cricket's newest fan community. Please note, we recorded this episode before the final squads were announced and some players may have changed. With Eoin Morgan on the pitch and Shane Warne in the dugout, London Spirit will have bags of experienced leadership. Mohammad Amir has a chance to adjust to English conditions in the forthcoming series and Mark Wood and Mohammad Nabi bring plenty of quality too. But do Rich, Oli and Tom think they will lose too much when England stars Zak Crawley and Dan Lawrence go on international duty half way through the tournament? Please note, we recorded this episode before the final squads were announced and some players may have changed. This is The Hundred Club, cricket's newest fan community. After a landslide of changes were announced to The Hundred squads on Friday, Ed and Charlie review the new additions to each side and talk about what impact they will have on each team in 2021. Birmingham Phoenix (1:10), London Spirit (11:30), Manchester Originals (13:53), Northern Superchargers (24:37), Trent Rockets (28:22), Welsh Fire (30:40), Southern Brave (34:37), Oval Invincibles (37:47).
Chris & Charlie go through the new line up for The London Spirit
The first episode of season 2 is with professional cricketer Naomi Dattani. Naomi is the captain of Middlesex in the UK, has played and won the KIA superleague with the Western Storm and is contracted with the London Spirit in The Hundred. We first met in Perth when she was playing grade cricket for MGCC and I was immediately struck by how incrediblly hard she worked, especially for someone relatively young and having not had the privilege of growing up in a professional environment. She has had many battles, but as you'll learn, each one has inspired her to keep working hard and developing her mindset to eventually achieve her dream of being a fully professional sportswoman, when so many people around her were telling her to give up and get a real job.
