Guy Wills, the creator of Right Mate NZ, has an inspiring story to tell. He discovered one day, in a moment of vulnerability and raw emotion, that he needed to give up alcohol for good. Crying on a couch and only partially dressed, Guy realized that he had reached a turning point in his life. This was a moment of clarity, a call to action, and a commitment to making a positive change. That's when Guy decided to launch Right Mate NZ, a platform where he could journal his journey, hold himself accountable, and offer support to others who may be struggling with similar issues. Guy's goal was not only to share his personal story, but also to create a safe and supportive space for others to reach out and ask for guidance. Over time, Guy's platform has grown, and he has been able to connect with people from all walks of life who are seeking help and support. From those who are just starting their own journeys, to those who are further along and looking for ways to give back, Guy's community has become a beacon of hope and a source of strength. Through his platform, Guy has become a leader and an advocate for those seeking to turn their lives around and make positive changes. He has inspired countless others with his unwavering commitment to his own journey and his dedication to helping others. Today, Right Mate NZ stands as a testament to the power of self-reflection, self-awareness, and the importance of creating a safe and supportive community.

He's won the Sir Paul Holmes Award for NZ Broadcaster of the Year, written three best-selling books and has turned his passion for running into a new podcast called 'Runners Only With Dom Harvey'. In 2018 he ran five marathons in five days and in the process him and his friends at The Edge raised $250,000 so a young girl could get cancer treatment in Barcelona. That effort earned him a Kiwi bank NZ Local Hero award and also an Outstanding contribution to radio award. In this episode we talk about why he walked away from the Edge after 20 years to focus on his mental health, and what that really means, what his future looks like and what his ambitions are with his podcast, the complexities of working and living with his ex-wife JJ, his difficult IVF journey and his tumor. https://www.dom.co.nz/
