Get the fill in the blank bulletins my.harmonychurch.cc/bulletins. ------------ OPENING ILLUSTRATION: I remember asking one of my parents how I knew I'd be in love and they said, "You'll just know". That felt problematic because it took me 25 years to figure out that every time I drank milk I got sick cause I was lactose intolerant. If I couldn't diagnose that, how would I ever have any luck with falling in love? I mean seriously! Today we are going to delve into some waters and talk about “love” as we do, I want you to be aware, that I'm going to poke at some ideas like “you'll just know” that might make you want to say, “Kent you're a dummy,” but stick with me… Because… When it comes to “Love,” our world is saturated with ideas that make for great Rom-Coms, but make for terrible relationship guidance. Let me explain what I mean… Tell me if any of these ideas about love/relationships sound familiar to you: -You'll "just know" -Finding the "one" -Finding your "soulmate" -Finding the "perfect" person for you -That we can find our "happily ever after" -We were "meant to be" -it was "Love at first sight" Can I ask you a question? Why do Americans tend to believe these ideas to be true? I can't tell you how many times I've heard these pop up in marriage counseling either in a positive - He was my soul mate, or I just knew or in a negative way, I'm not sure we are really meant for each other You may have your own answers to why we believe these things, maybe you were like me, your parents told you that - but where did they get those ideas? But I will tell you one sure fireplace that has been peddling these ideas for decades has been Hollywood and now social media. A lot of these ideas come from ancient religions, myths, folklore, fairy tales, and more - Hollywood capitalizes on them to make great stories and we ingest them as if they were our own ideologies… Are these ideas really what love is? What does the scripture say about love? b Does it say there is a perfect person for you that “you'll just know”? b Maybe you're thinking “Kent, I don't know why it matters if I believe these ideas or not?” b It matters because your deeply held beliefs will dictate your behavior… ILLUSTRATION: What I mean is if you deep down have bit on these ideas there is a good chance that at some point when your marriage has gotten difficult, when the lust has worn off - because most of the time what we call love was actually lust - that you end up in my office going, “he looked good in the lighting of the club, but now that I've seen him in the daylight for years, I don't want this joker anymore. I cannot tell you how many people I've sat with who will say, “I just don't love them anymore” and are ready to get a divorce or have already participated in an affair looking for the excitement Hollywood has painted for them. Have you ever noticed that Hollywood very rarely makes a movie or show about relationships after the rom-com? They always end with the marriage or the relationship starting because all the things they've fed us about love don't work to make a marriage work and they don't know how to do it either. Hebrews 13:4 4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. b I want us to learn how to honor marriage today as we talk about what love should really look like… The apostle Paul wrote these words to the church in Corinth to describe what it should look like for Christians to love - what our marching orders are when it comes to love. Now, he's not describing romantic love, but there is no difference - this is what it looks like to love another human being… As I read this passage, I want you to think about how well this reflects the ideology of the world's version of love… As we read this description of love I want you to think about what sticks out to you compared to the way our world views love: 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ILLUSTRATION: Jenni will be the first to tell you she's not perfect, but I believe Jenni tries to live this list out. I can't think of a time Jenni has dishonored me, I can't think of a time she threw something in my face I've done before. Do you see? Biblically, Love is not a feeling, it's an action. b Love is a choice… 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. Paul is making the argument that even the most spiritual of things you could think of will end, but love never does. Love goes further, gives more, and endures longer. Love NEVER fails. The caveat: Now listen this is not for those who are in an abusive relationship or for someone who has been abandoned by a spouse or whose spouse has had an affair. This is for the couple who get in arguments This is for the couple who struggles to remember why they got married in the first place This is for the people who have been thinking there has to be someone better out there for you b “Kent, how do I love someone who has hurt me? How do I love someone who seems to no longer care about me?” I never said Love, true biblical love was easy. The only thing I know to tell you is that the author of love, the one who loves Himself gets it. He still chose to love us even when we were at our worst… Romans 5:8 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. CLOSING: God demonstrates His love… It was while we all turned our backs on Him that He chose us. Recently I was thinking of Barabbas, if you don't know the story. It is the day of the crucifixion of Christ. He has been beaten to within an inch of His life, He has been brutalized all day. Pilate, the Roman governor brought Jesus out and put him up against Barabbas, this guy was a criminal, who was slated for execution. Pilate is certain the people will want to release Jesus over Barabbas, but when he asks the people, the chief priests stir up the crowd to cry for Jesus' crucifixion. This is the moment where you expect all the bad to come to an end, people should have chosen Jesus to be freed, but instead, they crucified Him. A criminal is set free and God is crucified… And Barabbas becomes the first person in history to have the sacrifice of Jesus take His place. This is what love looks like. Jesus could have gotten out of there, He could have just walked off. But instead, He chose the worst so He could bring the best to us. Listen, when Paul is telling you what love is? He's just telling you what God is like, “love is patient, it's kind, it doesn't envy (because it already has everything it could want), it doesn't boast, or is proud… etc.” Listen, you can't have this kind of love in a real way without submitting your life completely to the one who is love - He's where we find it. He's where we start over and find new life. what would it look like for you to give your life to love - not the Hollywood - done at the end of the romcom kind of love, but the deeper, richer, goes further kind of love? Some of you need to accept Jesus today!
This is a revision and re-recording of Episode 04 of the podcast, "Love Never Faileth". I felt that it wasn't my best work in terms of execution, but one of the best episode concepts. As a New Year's special, enjoy this redux of a classic episode. Some parts have been added, some have been removed, and overall I think the lecture flows better and better gets across the ideas I'd originally hoped to convey. We return to regular episodes of the podcast next week.

You're going to look back and appreciate these days. These apparent 'slow' or 'no momentum' days. So relax into that Gratitude, now. Relax back into Love, now. Notice that when you're caught in a thought train, you're not aware of Love. But when you become aware of Love, you're no longer caught. You see that you were never caught. You were never in the train... you were watching it. Watching this life unfold. Watching 'the more' unfold from Here, (w)here you're Reigning, and Resting. I Love you, Nik ******God is afoot! Send us a Text Message. It's important to remember that true love should never require you to compromise your own self-worth or forget who you are as a person. When you love someone, it's important to maintain a healthy sense of self and to ensure that your own wants and needs are being met. If you find yourself in a situation where you feel like your own needs are being ignored or dismissed, it's important to recognize that this is not a healthy or loving relationship. In fact, it can be a form of emotional abuse that can have serious long-term consequences. Always remember that you deserve to be loved and valued for who you are, and that healthy relationships are built on mutual respect and understanding.

1 Kings 14:20-31, 1 Kings 15: 1-15, & Psalm 136: 1-4 Out of respect for each families ages and stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures yourself to see what's appropriate for your family. The Solomon episodes also build upon themselves so please go back and listen to ones you may have missed. Today we went through a little bit of a family tree as we followed the kings. We find that most of these kings follow in their father's footsteps and do not follow God. Nevertheless we hear that God does not withdraw His love and is faithful. He kept Jerusalem safe, sticking to His promise we heard Him give David many episode ago. The kids are reminded that God's love never changes. We see this evidence as we hear today's events and read Psalm 136. We have 1 more episode in our Solomon series. Come and listen while Host Joyce Benning interviews a variety of extraordinary women, whom are working to make the world a better place! #DivasThatCare I was raised on a farm from the age of four and even at a young age I felt deeply connected to the openness, Mother Nature and of course animals. I didn't start off then with a horse of my own, but through my Uncle Maurice's insistence, “She needs a horse,” I received one shortly thereafter. It wasn't until later in my life that I learned just how majestic horses really are. This pulled me into a journey to understand them more, which led me to taking an Equine Assisted Learning Certification course. In addition to that I began reading voraciously, going to horse barns, clinics and taking my own horse to clinics as well. I wanted to deeply understand how horses created this feeling of aliveness and joy within me, just by being around them. At the same time, when I started asking myself deeper questions about the direction for my career and life, I kept being pulled to work with horses. I felt I needed to develop the inner gifts of spiritual connection I already possessed. In my heart I knew I was born to be of service, to help people – but I didn't know what that looked like. During my own life I had experienced my own share of pain, grief and loss of self to a point of feeling my spirit was broken. With the help and love of a special person I found my way back to me. Hello Everyone, I'm beginning to feel like a person again. I will do my very best to post a podcast everyday to the end of the year! We will be moving the podcast over to Patreon in Jan. That is our “Pay It Forward” ask we have of you. We will continue the conversation there, where we can go a little deep. Now that we have the basics out of the way, we can start cutting out/distinguishing the mind from the inner world more deeply. Cut out the story and simply get right to it. There, at Patreon, we will have a membership fee of $20. This $20 will go towards providing scholarships for those that would like to expand, heal, serve. We are creating a community of people that would move heaven and earth for the opportunity to make a difference for others. We know what it is like to FEEL alone. You are not. There are “others" that are interested in having an authentic, free to be life. Fully self-expressed. And we are at this point moving through all of this together. I'm very excited since Infinite Love is guiding all of it! In that I trust! Love has NEVER let me down. Today's Promise: Isaiah 54:10 There is only one thing you can count on in this world, and it's not death and taxes. When your whole world is shaken and everything seems to be falling apart, you can always count on God's love. Lovingkindness is God's commitment love for you. His lovingkindness is his love for you that goes beyond your response. When your world falls apart or you experience a major failure, it's easy to feel like no one loves you. God's love will always be there. God's love never changes, never fails, and never ends.

This is the final message in this series "Love Never Lies". Pastor Todd tells us, "In our society today truth is getting lost in a sea of confusion, feelings and enablement. Increasingly, people no longer care about truth. They care about their feelings and their truth. They care about not being offended or making sure that we don't offend them than they care about the truth. Christians, we will be forced to either tell the truth or agree with lies. We will be told to say that is a man when it is a woman. We will be told to say that an unborn baby is not human. We will be told that God is ok with same sex marriage. We will be told that churches should not be involved in government. We will be told that it's ok for our children to be entertained by drag queens." We are being pressured by our society to lie. But LOVE NEVER LIES. Jesus told the truth no matter what others said or believed. The truth is the truth. It is not subjective or fluid. When Jesus said, "Truly I say to you…" He was speaking in truth. He wanted people to understand that this is not a matter of opinion. It is truth. Absolute. Unequivocal. Truth. He is the creator. He is the Lord of all whom all people will bow to willingly or not. Pastor Todd leads us through the 30 statements that Jesus made in the book of Matthew that are absolute, foundational truth that we can base our lives on. Further, he exposes the lies of the world. We must declare and live our lives on this foundation. "Jesus said, 'I am the Way, the Truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him." This is not a matter of opinion. This is a matter of undebatable truth. Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. All authority has been given to Him. We can know the truth and the truth will set us free. Lies will not. Truth matters. Let's listen in as Pastor Todd reveals the truth about the character of Jesus, our obedience, and about speaking the truth in love. http://www.reviveusnow.com Check out Pastor Todd's latest book, "Get It Together", God's Design for Marriage. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBJLPVZ3/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_HESPWY394NKZQGM1MWZS

Pastor Todd is in a series called "Love Never Lies". He teaches us, "We're talking about the fact that the world would look at Christianity and say, Hey, you guys should be nice and kind and loving and tolerant because that was what Jesus would do." Pastor Todd takes us back into the scripture to find out what would Jesus actually do. "What we're trying to do is keep Christianity from being passive and tolerant. Because passivity and tolerance is not what Christ is about." This may be a bumpy ride for some. He is going to talk about the blessings of the Lord but perhaps that doesn't mean exactly what we think it means. He is teaching us today from the story of Jesus confronting the money changers in the temple. We see Jesus with a whip in His hand overturning tables and scattering coins of money. Does this sound like the kind, tolerant, nice Jesus that the world has stereotyped Him as? Is Jesus really mad simply because people elected to buy their sacrificial animals at the temple instead of bringing them from home? Is Jesus mad because He doesn't want anything for sale even in the outer courts of the temple? Pastor Todd explains from scripture that the blessings of God come from obedience. Yet many of the people were disobedient before coming to the temple and still expect the blessings of God. The people do not know their God. Let's listen in as Pastor Todd reveals the truth about the character of Jesus, our obedience, and about speaking the truth in love. Please listen to the end for some important information. http://www.reviveusnow.com Check out Pastor Todd's latest book, "Old Is the New: Connecting Covenants". https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09YQGKDPX/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_RARTSS86DPJXB5Z878CJ
John 15:13 But He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. Truth gives us boldness. Pastor Todd asks, "How long will we, believers, allow unbelievers disciple us?" The world looks at our Bible and misquotes it and abuses it and throws it back in our face. For the most part in the church we let them do it. All too often we are silent in these situations. Two reasons could explain this. 1) We don't know the truth ourselves or 2) we think that passiveness is Christianity. Jesus demonstrates boldness to everyone. He tells people the truth. He is not passive. His love for people required Him to tell them the truth about their lifestyles and destiny. Pastor Todd shows us that we do not have to accept what the world tells us what Jesus was like. We do not have to accept the world's word about tolerance. We have the truth in the Spirit of Truth from God. The world does not understand the Bible. They do not have the Spirit of God to give them revelation of what it means. Let's listen in as Pastor Todd teaches us about this very important topic.
With change comes fear and insecurity. The good news is we have an unchanging God. In this episode, Max discusses how God's unchanging love has nothing to do with our characteristics or actions: God loves us because he has chosen to do so.
