Comebacks rarely happen all at once. They're built in small moments, with slow wins.In Part Two, Athena Brownson opens up about what it really takes to rebuild when chronic illness becomes your new normal. She walks us through her mindset rituals, the power of written affirmation, and how she finally learned the one thing no athlete ever wants to admit: she couldn't do it alone. From retraining her brain to let go of pain patterns, to redefining leadership through delegation, Athena shares a playbook for resilience that's part spiritual, part practical, and 100% earned. Whether you're healing from illness, burnout, or just life's curveballs—this is your reminder that growth is still possible, even in survival mode.Key Highlights of Our Interview:Training Her Brain to Stop Listening to Pain“Our brains get stuck in pain patterns. I use breathwork, affirmations, and routines to teach mine a new message: You're safe. You're healing.”Why Routines Became Her Lifeline“Every day starts with journaling, breathwork, affirmations. I write: I am healthy. I am healing. My body is getting stronger. I speak it until I believe it.”Delegation as a Leadership Superpower“Being sick taught me what being a leader really means—letting go. Delegation isn't giving up control; it's giving others a chance to thrive.”How Chronic Illness Redefined Her Business Model“I couldn't keep doing it all. So I built a team that could run without me on bad days—and succeed with me on the good ones.”Your Tribe Is Everything“After ten years, I finally found people who want me well. Who care more about my health than a commission. They're my family now.”The Mental Game of Chronic Recovery“You don't need to fix it all today. Start with one percent better. That's how I got out of survival mode.”Accountability on Paper“I print out my must-do list and check it off every day. If I don't write it down, it doesn't happen. It's how I stay in motion.”Pen, Paper, and Confidence“Writing makes the healing real. Every word reinforces a new belief system—one I can see and hold.”Jodie Foster, Masterclass, and the Simplicity of Creation“All you need is pen, paper, and confidence. That line hit me. You don't need a perfect plan. You just need to start.”Her Message to Anyone Struggling“It's okay to acknowledge pain. Just don't stay stuck in it. Tiny steps add up. Your healing doesn't need to be loud—it just needs to begin.”______________________Connect with us:Host: Vince Chan | Guest: Athena Brownson --Chief Change Officer--Change Ambitiously. This week we have been exclusively watching 'Magic Mike', shaking a Magic 8-Ball and listening to '24k Magic' by Bruno Mars (which is just awful) in order to win the slightly nervous attention of Adam Ferrier, founder of Thinkerbell; the thinkers, tinkers and practitioners of ‘measured magic'. A psychology brain sat on top of some sturdy strategy bones, Adam is a rare voice of reason in the largely barmy brand world – as well as being the chief sceptic when it comes to the industry obsession with ‘the customer'. He's also the author of more superb books, including ‘The Advertising effect: How to Change Behaviour' and supplements all this talk-talking with some serious walk-walking through his work that brings marketing science and creative thinking together. In this episode Adam shares his expertise on brands who forget how to be brands, why every business problem is a behaviour change problem and the forgotten benefits of simply fitting in. This episode is very proudly dedicated to Anne Young. ///// Follow Adam on LinkedIn Timestamps 09:16 - The impact of D&AD annuals on Adam's career choice 11:19 - Transition from forensic psychology to marketing 16:12 - The perils of customer obsession 22:57 - Balancing brand and customer needs 25:11 - The importance of consumer research Adam's Book Recommendations are: Stop Listening to Your Customers by Adam Ferrier: The Advertising Effect: How to Change Behaviour by Adam Ferrier: Love's Executioner and Other Tales of Psychotherapy by Irvin Yalom: Existential Psychotherapy by Irvin Yalom: Here and Now: Tales from the Heart by Irvin Yalom: /////
There's no shortage of advice to be found on how to grow your audience. But how closely does that advice align with how podcast listeners say they actually find, choose (and abandon) the shows they listen to? It turns out, there are a number of surveys that have asked listeners to share their discovery and consumption habits. And while the data can sometimes contradict itself, it offers us as creators a peek behind the curtain into podcast listeners' hidden psychology, so that we can better meet them where they're at with our marketing and our shows. What's more, this data offers us a blueprint for the questions to ask (and avoid) when conducting our own listener research.
In this episode, Scott sits down with journalist-turned-operator Eric Newcomer for a wide-ranging conversation about building in public, the evolution of venture capital, and what it's really like to run a media business. Eric shares the backstory of launching Newcomer, from a solo Substack to a $2M+ revenue business with marquee events like Cerebral Valley. The two reflect on the blurred lines between media and entrepreneurship, how trust and access shape great reporting, and the surprisingly human side of building a company. Then, Scott and Eric dive deep into the state of venture capital: the private-equity-ification of mega-funds, the uncertain future for emerging managers, and why it's getting harder to find the next generation of category-defining companies. Eric offers sharp takes on AI, fundraising hype, and what LPs really want. It's a thoughtful, honest, and often funny look at what happens when a journalist steps behind the curtain and becomes a founder himself. What You'll Learn: - Why Newcomer leaned into events—and how it became a real business. - The unspoken truth about founder glorification (and how hard building really is). - How venture capital is shifting—and why SaaS may have spoiled the party. - What separates good journalism from performative puff pieces. - What it feels like to lead a small team and be responsible for real livelihoods. Have you noticed how easily other people's opinions can pull you away from your own inner wisdom? In this powerful solo episode, I share a game-changing realization about how constantly consuming contradictory "should-do" advice can disconnect us from our unique genius and intuition.I explore how the online business world bombards us with opposing viewpoints – one "expert" tells you to post daily on Instagram while another insists it's a waste of time; one says weekly emails are essential while another calls them outdated. This constant barrage of conflicting opinions leaves many entrepreneurs feeling confused, inadequate, and completely disconnected from their own inner guidance. As a highly sensitive person who easily picks up on others' energies, I've had to learn to protect myself from persuasive marketing that makes me question my own path. I share how I've started clearing my feeds of accounts that use absolutist language like "stop doing this" or "you're doing everything wrong" – regardless of whether they're offering low-cost or high-ticket services. What You'll Learn in This Episode:

It's time to throw out the rule book - this episode is your permission slip to start making choices based on what feels good to YOU! Let's face it, we are all in some way or another, trying to grow, be better and do better. Problem is, there's so much information out there now, and it all seems to be contradicting itself! How do we know what's right and what's wrong? It's so overwhelming and can end up leaving us feeling full of shame, like we're failing or that we're never going to achieve our desires. So what can you do? In this episode we show you how you can start feeling safe and comfortable to stop the comparison, stop listening to other peoples (often strong and differing) opinions, and start trusting what feels right to YOU. Then acting on it!! When you can start doing this, you'll notice that life starts feeling lighter, easier and frankly a hell of a lot more enjoyable! (Isn't that the goal?) We're going to break down some serious limiting beliefs here - and hopefully give you the courage to go out there and start pleasing your self! The Main Points in this episode: How by following other people's advice you are taking yourself out of alignment The importance of not comparing ourselves to others How to listen to and understand your intuition Why you shouldn't do what other people tell you (even if they seem confident, knowledgable and know what they're talking about!) What you can do to start trusting yourself and become your biggest cheerleader How you can start becoming your authentic self and what this will do for you! ----------------------------------------------------------------

RJ Spina's soul brought his body to the brink of death and paralysis to a state of complete recovery through metaphysical principles he had been shown since childhood. But he was shown much more. As we watch the greater game of the times unfold, it's critical that we stay centered on the nature of this reality. It's being posited that this is a simulation, rather than the more accurate notion of a collective creation. In this conversation, RJ Spina and I speak about the imperative to learn to be totally present as we create our collective future. Show notes* Adam's agency Thinkerbell* Adam's book: Stop listening to the customerSummary* Adam Ferrier challenges the idea of being "customer-obsessed," arguing that brands lose their identity by focusing too much on consumer needs.* He believes brands should prioritize their own values and what they stand for instead of solely catering to customer demands.* Companies like Apple and IKEA are examples of successful brands that don't always prioritize customer convenience but stick to their vision.* Ferrier suggests that modern marketing often dilutes creativity, and strong brand leadership is essential to keep a brand distinct.* He advocates for a company-wide approach to branding, where everyone, not just the marketing department, is responsible for the brand's success. The back and forth thoughts, the obsession, the "I shouldn't eat it, but I want it, life is short" craziness.I get it, I wanted that too. And this is what I do, I help women feel more at peace with food, in their minds. But, here is the rub, it never 100% goes away.It will get better, easier, but the thoughts will always be there.Don't wait for your brain to stop making excuses. Listen in for how to stop listening to the excuses in your brain. Courtney---------I work privately with women 1:1 to stop the dieting and lose weight permanently. But it is more than just weight loss, it is about how you talk to yourself, how you think about yourself, and how you feel in control around food. This work is life changing. If you love my podcast, you have to grab my free course HERE ...it's called "Lose Weight for the Last Time, the Mindset and Strategy You've Been Missing. My opinion is that you should stop listening to other people's opinions. Why? Because our internal happiness doesn't come from external opinions. This week's episode of The Second of Strength Podcast is all about opinions. Tanner will dive into why worrying about what people thing and their opinions is only hurting you and how you can stop listening to the opinions that are limiting your potential and happiness. If you want to be happier, this is the episode for you! - Share this episode with someone you love. - Tag @realtannerclark on Instagram - To invite Tanner to speak at your event click here - Leave the show a 5 star rating :)

It was inevitable. President Trump has exposed himself to so many very dangerous situations. They plan everything out in the open. It looks like two shooters, with one behind him. The trajectory proves it. Accuracy gets quickly confused. Video establishes truth. Open source information is best. Signals were given so grab those two women. Who's running and who's ducking? How are private contractors involved? Their security is crap. How can it be this careless? Two or three o'clock shows a quadrant to look at. Let's look at some specific channels. The sniper was taken out, but by who? The counterpart was probably still there. Lets start looking at the alpha's. Real investigative reporters should always be educating. We all must communicate with our community. Some are saying it was a false flag. Someone snuck in. There will be no more Jo in person. Ulterior motives abound. The right will say it was antifa. It could be DSA, or contractors. The insane left goes nuts. We are in a war. We don't have to pray for our enemies, but we can weep for them. We must truly pray for our country and our President.
