A little change of pace for episode 33 of the podcast as Chase and Raymond sit down with a group of 4 instructors named The Codebreakers. This group of highly esteemed coaches is made up of Garrett Chaussard, Rob Failes, Mark Grace, and Sean Kennedy. All top instructors in the country, they have been helping players of all skill levels for years. They are hosting a golf retreat in South Carolina in February where Dr. Raymond will be one of the guest speakers. The pod touches on the definition of skill, how big of a role do the head and heart play into performance, and bridging the gap between the mechanical, physiological and physiological parts of the game. A little more about the Codebreakers: Codebreakers is the name that naturally came to the surface after many years of helping each other with clients. We set up a peer review system through an app, discussed possible approaches with each other's clients, which naturally advanced into discussing theory. We were realizing the benefits of open minded discussion and thought to expand this idea by asking respected professors to come to our location and invite the top growth minded professionals to join us. So the Codebreakers brand is the precipitate of curiosity from Breaking Codes.Go to codebreakersgolf.com for more information.

Hurricane Beryl dealt a blow to our hometown but 36 hours after it passed Hooks & Runs is on schedule against all odds. This week, Craig and Rex riffing on the upcoming Baseball Hall of Fame inductees, Adrián Beltré, Todd Helton, Jim Leyland and Joe Mauer (with an obligatory dig along the way on Journey and Bon Jovi from Craig), speculating about Ichiro's chances for unanimous induction, Billy Wagner's chance for induction at all in 2025, updating plans for the podcast's College Football Preview episode and looking over our best of second quarter album selections. Errata: Craig guessed right - the HOF induction is July 21. Adrián Beltré also played for the Dodgers and Red Sox. Mark Grace slashed .303/.383/.442 for his career; Will Clark slashed .303/.384/.497. On the road, Todd Helton slashed .287/.386/.469. The Marlins won their second World Series title in 2003, not 2001. Jim Leyland's record in Detroit was 700-597 in eight seasons. Saul Zaentz owned Fantasy Records and produced "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Rex meant to say "Nurse Ratchet." We bleeped the player Craig called "the baseball equivalent of Journey" because Craig thinks he's actually a better player than that. Jim Deshaies, better known as JD, once went on a campaign to get one vote for the Hall of Fame. It was all for fun and yes, he did that one vote! Deshaies spent 12 seasons pitching in the big leagues, half of them with the Houston Astros who were then in the National League. Shortly after he retired, JD found himself in the Astros TV booth as an analyst and 16 years later, found himself in the same position at Wrigley Field. He's been with the Cubs for the last 11 seasons adding keen observations while keeping a dry sense of humor. “Mark Grace lost his gig in Arizona," Deshaies says on the show. "The Diamondbacks came hard after Bob Brenly, (who had been with the Cubs) and Len Kasper, the teams lead TV voice said how would you like to come here?” Deshaies said yes and for the last 11 seasons has worked with Kasper and most recently, Jon “Boog” Sciambi. “ Boog's great. We have a lot of fun.”JD has also watched this Cubs team do something few expected them to do, contend for a playoff position Deshaies notes how free agents such as Cody Bellinger and Dansby Swanson have made a huge difference. Bellinger signed a one year deal and Deshaies knows it will take a big number to keep him, especially with Scott Boras as his agent. Now 63, Deshaies has no intentions of retiring. He loves the gig working along side Jon “Boog” Sciambi But this native of a small town in upstate New York which is close to the Canadian border claims he have no problems if this was it. The Cubs followed up a division title in 1989 by hosting the worst Home Run Derby of all time, and a rain delayed, mostly boring All-Star Game. Ryne Sandberg and Andre Dawson had good years, Mark Grace was pretty good and that was about it. They didn't sign any free agents, the only veteran they added was Dave Clark and amazingly just running back the same team from a year before didn't quite work out. They rushed their first round pick to the big leagues just weeks after the draft and he was never heard from again. The season started late because of a lockout (sound familiar), Mitch Williams walked everybody, Rick Sutcliffe got hurt again, and the opening day crowd was hilarious (wait until you hear the money.) Oh, and for no apparent reason there are a few minutes of Bears at the beginning and end of the podcast. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/desipio/message

The Cubs had a new manager, a new (very old) closer, a new GM who used to be an old manager, six All-Stars and they could play home games after sunset for once! It's time to Remember This Crap about the 1988 Cubs. Greg Maddux was great for a half, Mark Grace debuted in an unfamiliar number and should have been the Rookie of the Year, Andre Dawson followed up his MVP season with a less than MVP season and Dave Martinez got traded for Mitch Webster for some unknown reason (well, let's say we know now-wink-wink-corncob-dress-wink-wink). It was a fun year as new, young guys came in to replace the last vestiges of the 1984 team and for once it actually built to something. Even though Jim Frey was already hell bent on screwing it all up. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/desipio/message

Grace through Faith
As people we all want to be seen, to be known. We all want to experience progress, healing, growth. And yet the reality is, in the most important ways, we are needy, dependent. But do we see that? Do we know that? The good news is that there is a Grace & Power in and through Jesus that meets us in our humility, and will transform our lives through faith in Him.
