Welcome to this episode of The Lifeguard Project Podcast, where today I interview Mike Martino. Mike is a California State Parks lifeguard who started as a seasonal and throughout his career, worked his way up all the way to the aquatic specialist or chief lifeguard of California State Parks. Not only is he a lifeguard for life, but he also has become quite a lifeguard historian and represent some of the early lifeguard pioneers who made their way up in the Sonoma coastline in the north of California. The Sonoma coastline is what we focus on today and talk about some of those early challenges faced by the guards who worked up there. Mike shares with us some pretty impactful stories, both personal and professional, and we walk through what it really means to be a lifeguard. In this episode we sit down with Mike Martino — the creative force behind Design Shop REACT — to talk drifting, design, and the culture that keeps us hooked. Mike shares what it's like running a brand while vending at big drift events like Legends of the Drift and Final Bout, and what makes the Canadian drift scene unique compared to the U.S.We dive into memories of S-chassis builds, rare OEM parts, and how cars like the S13 and S15 have evolved through the years. Mike opens up about the grind of doing booths alone, the community vibes that make it worth it, and how Final Bout shaped his perspective on drifting. We also get into the controversial rise of takeovers, how they hurt drifting's reputation, and why the real scene is built around passion, not chaos. On top of that, Mike shares stories from his trips to Japan — including Tokyo Auto Salon and visiting legendary shops like Tech Arts — and how those experiences inspired his own builds. From drifting Canada's road courses, to hunting down rare aero, to explaining why drifting is both obsession and sacrifice, this episode is packed with laughs, stories, and plenty of car nerd talk.Whether you're deep in the drift community or just love hearing how car culture connects people across borders, this one's for you.@vsmartinoBe sure to leave us a review if you are enjoying this podcast! Vanni Santoni"Il detective sonnambulo"Mondadori Editorewww.mondadori.itParigi, oggi.

'In the smoke-choked backrooms of 1920s Toronto, where jazz and bootleg liquor flow like an untamed river, 'The Man in the Iron Mask is reborn as a Prohibition-era musical. Twins—one, a ruthless crime lord draped in silk and sin; the other, a prisoner lost in the underbelly of King St —are bound by fate and a secret buried in blood. As speakeasy ballads and brass-fueled anthems drive the tale, a band of aging gangsters, once the city's kings, unite for one last job: a coup against tyranny. Justice and jazz collide in a high-stakes battle where the mask must fall.

In this episode, I sit down with Martin O'Toole - a friend of mine in Bali, who is a former London ad-man turned holistic mental health coach - for a deeply honest conversation about burnout, addiction, depression, and the long road to healing.Once a self-proclaimed “high-functioning shambles,” Martin left the hustle of city life behind and began a radical journey inward. From mindfulness and Eastern philosophy to intentional psychedelic work, Martin has cultivated what he calls The Anatomy of Happy: a grounded, compassionate path to mental wellness. We explore how writing, humor, and storytelling can be tools for healing, and how he now helps others navigate their own suffering with honesty and heart. Whether you're sober-curious, healing trauma, or just curious about what it means to live and die well, this conversation is filled with wisdom, laughter, and soulful insight.

The U.S. economy shrunk by 0.3% in the first quarter of 2025 according to the Commerce Department. That's a huge splash of cold water on the Trump administration's celebrations marking his first 100 days in office. In addition to that, Trump gave an interview to ABC News last night where he acknowledges he could bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back from El Salvador if he wanted to, seemingly flouting the Supreme Court's order to do just that. So what is Chuck Schumer up to? He's put out a video literally clapping back against the administration's planned tax on cars. Great to see he's always on point! Sam is joined by Biden's former Social Security administrator Martin O'Malley, who has been raising the alarm about Republicans' assault on his former agency in a variety of ways. In the Fun Half, Sam look at more clips from Trump's 100 day celebrations, including a chilling moment at a rally in Michigan where Trump plays footage of prisoners in El Salvador's prison are paraded around for the cameras and have their heads shaved. The crowd chants U-S-A in response. Trump also apparently believes that the photoshopped version of Kilmar Abrego Garcia's hands with the letters MS13 imposed on them is a real photograph, and insists as much in his interview with ABC's Terry Moran. Meanwhile, Tim Pool tries to dispel what the right has come to call the "Maryland Man Hoax," which is the way they try to distract people from paying attention to the very real injustices at play in Abrego Garcia's deportation and imprisonment. Why would anyone cut 7,000 employees to save 0.06% of the budget from one of the most important agencies in the federal government? That's the question Congressman Tom Swasey asked at town hall with former Social Security Commissioner Martin O'Malley. Over the past few days, O'Malley has warned that the 89-year streak of Social Security sending monthly benefits could come to an end. That is why we are reprising this important episode of Add Passion and Stir featuring O'Malley who talks with Billy and Debbie Shore about how Social Security is lifting kids out of poverty, and what more it could be doing. “Social Security is the difference between almost a million kids living above the poverty line or below it,” he says. During this conversation, O'Malley and Share Our Strength commit to a renewed partnership to help reach eligible children who are not currently enrolled in Social Security benefits. O'Malley also debunks some common myths about the program. “The other big myth is that Social security is going bankrupt. Totally false. Social Security cannot go bankrupt because Social Security is a pay as you go program, which means that so long as Americans work, Social Security pays benefits.” Listen and be inspired.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
At RSAC Conference 2025 in San Francisco, the message is clear: cybersecurity must be a shared endeavor—across nations, disciplines, and sectors. In this episode, Marco Ciappelli and Sean Martin welcome two distinguished voices from Italy who are helping shape this collective path forward: Luigi Martino, Director of the Center for Cybersecurity and International Relations Studies at the University of Florence, and Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC).Cybersecurity as a Multinational, Multidimensional EffortLuigi Martino, who also holds roles at the University of Bologna and Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, underscores the growing global awareness that cybersecurity is no longer a niche concern—it's embedded in everything, from space to artificial intelligence. He emphasizes that cyber cannot be treated in isolation and must be considered alongside advancements in quantum technologies, AI, and the systems that govern our modern society. For Luca Tagliaretti, leading the EU's newly autonomous cybersecurity body, this interconnected view plays out through policy and community-building. The ECCC's role spans everything from shaping long-term cybersecurity strategies across Europe to investing in innovation and skilling up the current workforce. He describes this as a community-first mission—building cohesion not just across EU member states, but eventually through global alignment.Regulation: Guardrail or Roadblock?A major theme discussed is the role of regulation in fostering or hindering innovation. Both guests agree that thoughtful regulation—especially in AI—is not the enemy of progress. Rather, it can be a mechanism for building trust, ensuring ethical use, and creating market conditions where all players, not just the biggest, can thrive. Bureaucracy, not regulation itself, is called out as the more significant challenge—particularly when public institutions aren't equipped to implement modern governance. What They're Taking Home from RSACAsked what they'll bring back from the conference, Luca points to the “sense of unity”—the opportunity to build on shared knowledge and collaborate across borders. Luigi highlights the spirit of open innovation and trust that defines the RSAC community: a willingness to share, experiment, and move forward together. Both perspectives offer a powerful reminder—cybersecurity isn't just about defending systems, it's about building connections.___________Guest:s Luigi Martino, Principal Research Scientist at Khalifa University and Head at the Center for Cyber Security and International Relations Studies | https://www.linkedin.com/in/luigi-martino-07515364/Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director at ECCC | https://www.linkedin.com/in/luca-tagliaretti-564a703/Hosts:Sean Martin, Co-Founder at ITSPmagazine | Website: https://www.seanmartin.comMarco Ciappelli, Co-Founder at ITSPmagazine | Website: https://www.marcociappelli.com___________Episode SponsorsThreatLocker: https://itspm.ag/threatlocker-r974Akamai: https://itspm.ag/akamailbwcBlackCloak: https://itspm.ag/itspbcwebSandboxAQ: https://itspm.ag/sandboxaq-j2enArcher: https://itspm.ag/rsaarchwebDropzone AI: https://itspm.ag/dropzoneai-641ISACA: https://itspm.ag/isaca-96808ObjectFirst: https://itspm.ag/object-first-2gjlEdera: https://itspm.ag/edera-434868___________ResourcesLearn more and catch more stories from RSA Conference 2025 coverage: https://www.itspmagazine.com/rsa-conference-usa-2025-rsac-san-francisco-usa-cybersecurity-event-infosec-conference-coverage___________KEYWORDSmarco ciappelli, sean martin, luigi martino, luca tagliaretti, rsac 2025, cybersecurity, regulation, ai, quantum, collaboration, event coverage, on location, conference___________Catch all of our event coverage: https://www.itspmagazine.com/technology-and-cybersecurity-conference-coverageWant to tell your Brand Story Briefing as part of our event coverage?
