AI can speed things up. But does it help you sell? In this episode of Content Logistics, Baylee Gunnell sits down with digital strategist Mike Moran to talk about the real metric that matters: effectiveness. With decades of experience in search, content, and AI, Mike pulls back the curtain on why chasing efficiency can quietly sink your marketing. He explains how most B2B teams measure the wrong things—like traffic and rankings—instead of tracking the behaviors that signal buyer intent. Mike shares clear ways to spot if your content is working long before a form fill. He walks through overlooked strategies like using first-party data, smart micro-conversions, and JavaScript to track real engagement.Mike also shows how marketers can use AI—not to replace content creators—but to run better tests, make faster changes, and improve conversion paths. If you've been stuck in analysis paralysis or chasing vanity metrics, this episode is a wake-up call.https://mikemoran.comhttp://www.converseon.comhttps://sharedaudiences.com/

Tom Cosgrove joins us for a second episode and this time we dive into New Britain. If you are a knife history nerd, you are going to love the cross talk on this one!Thank you to Tom for the below notes:To talk about Landers, Frary & Clark you must talk about New Britain Connecticut history first. At the turn of the century, New Britain CT factories produced one-sixth of the nation's hardware, earning its title of the “Hardware Capitol of the World” with familiar names like: New Britain MachineStanley Rule & Level/Stanley ToolFafnir BearingP.F. Corbin LockRussell & Erwin LocksNorth & JuddLanders, Frary & Clark1829 George Marcellus Landers (1813–1895), left his familial home in Lenox MA at the age of 16 for the small town of New Britain CT where he took employment as a carpenter's apprentice. Landers meets Josiah Dewey, a manufacturer of furniture casters and cupboard catches.1842 Dewey & Landers is formed to produce cupboard catches. They operated on East Main Street in New Britain CT until the company's dissolution in 1847 due to Dewey's death. This led Landers to form his own foundry to produce brass hooks and eyes, and wardrobe hooks.1853 Landers partnered with Levi O. Smith to form Landers & Smith Manufacturing Company with working capital of $30,000.1862 Landers partners with Colonel James Darius Frary (1833–1890) of Frary, Carey & Company of Meriden CT join forces. Frary & Carey produced various metal and hardware products including the Turnbull Patent Dial Scale, which was a scale for home/kitchen use.1865 Incorporated as Landers, Frary & Clark, the name that they maintained for about 100 years. At the time of incorporation, the company had $250,000 in working capital and employed 300 people.1866 Purchased the Meriden Cutlery Company and with it the “right to be called the first manufacturer of cutlery in the United States” and immediately began manufacturing kitchen cutlery and opened a factory called the Aetna Works, on Center Street to make a variety of cutlery, including carving sets and the Anvil Brand line of putty knives with tropical hardwood handles. The Aetna Works stone and brick buildings with slate roofs were located on a 4 ½ acre parcel and included a main shop, a grinding and finishing shop, a forging shop, and buildings wings for sawing and tempering.1869 Began manufacturing housewares: products that were meant to ease household tasks, which were most often performed by women. Their products included: meat choppers, coffee mills, apple parers, hooks for various purposes, window pulleys, door handles, and tools.1909 Purchased the trademark “Universal” from Levi T. Snow of New Haven CT1912 Purchased the Humason & Beckley Manufacturing Company of New Britain CT and began manufacturing pocket knives and razors. The deal was brokered by Martha A. Parsons who was the secretary of LF&C. So uncommon was it for a woman to hold such a high position that Martha would sign her name as M. A. Parsons to hide that fact.1916 Ceased using the H&B name on all pocket cutlery.1918 Purchased all Meriden Cutlery Company and continued to make Meriden Cutlery pocket knives until 1924.1925 The last year that LF&C used the Meriden Cutlery Company “Anvil” brand as a second line on all cutlery Support the showIf you enjoyed the episode, be sure to give us some of those stars in your podcast app!Mike Moran: @moranknives and on the web: moranknives.comCheck out Neal's latest latest book on J.A. Mark Clavey sent this picture right after St Patrick's Day 2024: “Hi Marc! Here's our write - up for how we spent St Pat's at O'Malley's Pub... and a few pictures... "There was more March Madness for the band this past Sunday as we celebrated the Day of the Festival of St Patrick with a noon - performance at O'Malley's Pub(Episode 136). The day started around 10:00a as the band started straggling in and setting up. It was a brisk 40° when we loaded in, and would reach a balmy 48° when we loaded out at 4:30. Early - birds had already formed a line by 10:30 – despite the fact that the Pub wouldn't open until 11:30. (This plan was well - advised given the epic proportions of Snake Saturday's one - person - out/one - person - in crowd.) By the time the band started playing at noon, the bar was full and the crowd lively – being more vocal for the sing - alongs than they were for the toasts. There was a larger - than - usual number of Tullamore - fans than is typical for St Patrick's Day (as it was at lunchtime on a Sunday rather than a workday). Shout - outs to Mike, Amy, Anna, and Jason; Ray and Carrie; Eric and Dena; Eric, Linda, and Eleanor; Trey; Connie, Brandie and Rhonda; Shannon; Rob and Mitch; Andrew; Lisa, Craig, Ed, and Mary; Mikayla; and Jenn. Mark successfully navigated the afternoon notwithstanding the return of his chest - supercold (that knocked him out of the February weekend) and having sliced up the index - finger on his strumming hand. (Evidently, while holding a pick between the thumb and the bird - finger is a doable thing, it DOES produce a Charlie - horse at the base of the thumb when you do it for three hours straight.) Said navigation was aided with the Black Bush providing the kind of lubrication that makes your engine tick. We played until 3:30 before turning the stage over to The Kelihans – who would, in turn, hand off the stage to Chance the Arm at 8:00p. In the meantime, Ryan Rancudo and Bob Reeder handled the St Patrick's Day festivities for the audience in the upper cellar. Overall, it was a great afternoon and (we're assuming) a great night as well. (Photos courtesy of Amy Cripe, Mike Moran, and Mary Hanover.)" Best, - Mark”

When we left you at the end of Part 1, fourteen year old Steven Stayner had escaped from seven years of captivity and abuse at the hands of child predator Kenneth Parnell—and he'd rescued Parnell's next intended victim, a little boy named Timmy White. The story made international headlines, and Steven Stayner became his hometown's living legend. It was March 1980, both boys were back home safe and Kenneth Parnell was behind bars where he belonged, waiting to go to trial. It seemed like a happy ending. But the story doesn't end there. The second half of the Stayner saga is even darker than the first. Justice is denied. Secrets come to light. And another member of the family lets his most depraved fantasies cross over to real life.Big thanks to Mike Moran of the podcast Confessional with Mike Moran for doing much of the work/research on this one and last week's! In classic literature—and in soap operas, too—there are a lot of families who become lightning rods for misfortune. Sometimes it really strains your suspension of disbelief—like, come on, one family could never go through this much tragedy. But every now and then, a family just seems to be haunted by something sinister. From February through July of 1999, the bodies of four women turned up around Yosemite National Park in California—all brutally murdered and mutilated. The killer was a handsome, likable guy named Cary Stayner, who confessed to the four murders once they had him in custody, and is suspected of quite a few more. And during his confession, the investigators realized why his name had seemed familiar to them. Cary was the brother of Steven Stayner, kidnapped by a pedophile in 1972, forced to change his name to Dennis and held captive for years, until one night in 1980 when he walked into a police station and said, “I know my first name is Steven.” That case captured the world, with books and documentaries covering Steven's years-long ordeal and the courage of his escape. Now, nearly 20 years later, the Stayner family was once again in the throes of a nightmare. Would Cary have become a serial killer if his brother had never been kidnapped, or was that evil always lurking inside him? It's a Shakespearean tragedy of a story, and we'll be telling it in two parts. This is part one--the abduction of Steven Stayner.Big thanks to Mike Moran of the Confessional Podcast for doing much of the work/research on this one! We do our best to keep a chronological order to things, but our excitement got the best of us! One thing to note is that Eric may be the last in a line extending clear back to early Sheffield cutlers. From those famous and brave guys who got caught up in the Chartist Movement in England, to Matteawan, to New York Knife Co, to Walden Knife Co, to Schrade, to Canal Street, and perhaps the last man standing - Eric Albers. Charlie's with us at the close of summer. As he starts his 80th year he joins us to talk about his new knife called the City Stock Knife. Of course Charlie couldn't help but meander into what knives he's picked up over the summer. Lots of pocket knife history "tid-bits" were thrown out in this episode by Neal and Charlie for us to gobble up!Neal even makes a bold statement on the "perfect" pocket knife and Mike tries to claim that the old Schrade factory sat on a toxic dump site. You guys listen and decide! One note on this episode - Neal came out strongly against GEC's "faux pas" of calling a knife with a smaller bolster a "Barlow." While we all agree with Neal, we don't endorse him in fear of Bill canceling our podcast! Thanks to all our listeners!Support the showIf you enjoyed the episode, be sure to give us some of those stars in your podcast app!Mike Moran: @moranknives and on the web: moranknives.comCheck out Neal's latest latest book on J.A.
