If the shooting was staged, the first objective would be obvious: shift Trump from aggressor to target. One day the public is asking why America is entangled in another Middle East war, who benefits from it, and how far it is going to go. The next day, the headline changes. Trump is no longer the man who started the Iran War; he is the man who survived the attack. That is not merely a news-cycle change, that's a moral repositioning. The commander becomes the victim. The war-maker becomes the wounded hero. The man facing scrutiny becomes the man demanding unity. That is how political theater works. You don't answer the hard question, you just replace it with a bigger emotional event. Butler, PA, anyone?“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.” Psalm 2:4 (KJB)On this episode of the Prophecy News Podcast, if this were staged, it would serve as a ready-made sales pitch for the so-called security upgrades Trump already wanted. The moment gunfire enters the story, objections to construction, spending, expansion, and security hardening begin to sound petty, partisan, and even dangerous. “How can you oppose the ballroom now?” becomes the new refrain. “How can you deny the president the protection he needs?” The ballroom stops being vanity architecture and becomes a bunker with chandeliers. If this were staged, it would be aimed straight at the midterms. Nothing mobilizes a political base like perceived persecution. Trump has always understood that better than anyone in modern politics. He does not merely campaign on policy. He campaigns on betrayal, siege, enemies, and survival. Lastly — perhaps most importantly — if this were staged, it would be designed to bury the Epstein files under a mountain of patriotic emergency coverage. Because Epstein is the scandal Washington cannot digest. It touches too many names, too many institutions, too many protected networks, too many people who have spent years pretending they know nothing. A war can bury Epstein. A shooting can bury Epstein. A national security drama can bury Epstein. All of them move the camera away from the black book and back to the man at the podium. It gives Trump an exit ramp. It gives him a construction argument. It gives him a campaign frame. It gives the media a reason to move on from Epstein. That is four political gifts wrapped inside one dramatic incident. So the real question is not simply, “Was it staged?” The real question is this, why does modern American politics now look so artificial that millions of people assume the stage lights are already on before the blood is even dry? On today's Prophecy News Podcast, we take you to the world premiere of ‘The Correspondents Dinner' and take you backstage at the White House to meet the actors with an All-Areas Access pass.

This week, Les chats with Dan Lauria and Patty McCormack about the Off-Broadway premiere of Just Another Day, a play about wonderful old friends who may not even know each other, but who relive and celebrate a life together...maybe. In Just Another Day, a comedy writer and a sophisticated poet in their seventies meet daily on a park bench to exchange wits and barbs, and wax nostalgic about old movies, all the while trying to figure out how they know – and love – each other. At least for that day. Directed by Eric Krebs, the two-member cast is Dan Lauria, who also wrote the show, alongside Patty McCormack. Between them, Lauria and McCormack have over 100 years of live theatrical experience, as well as over 150 television shows and films. Dan Lauria has appeared as a guest star in over seventy television episodic programs and more than twenty Movie Of The Week productions plus a score of motion picture credits. Dan is a very familiar face to the off-off, off and regional theatre scene having performed, written or directed over 50 professional stage productions. Dan is most recognized as the Dad on the highly acclaimed, Emmy winning, ABC television show, “The Wonder Years.” Patty McCormack brings to her role more than seven decades of stage, screen and television appearances. From her Oscar and Golden Globe nominated performance in The Bad Seed to work in the Oscar and Golden Globe Nominated Frost/Nixon and The Master; starring in her own television series “Peck's Bad Girl” to creating memorable characters on television favorites from “Dallas” to the “The Soprano's”; and her extensive theatrical work beginning with a Broadway debut at the age of six in Touchstone starring Ossie Davis. Patty McCormack brings her diverse range of talent to every role she plays. We talk about writing, acting, their connection to live theater, and much more. If you're in the New York area and want to catch the show (and you should) tickets are $49-$69 ($99 premium) and may be obtained at www.theater555.venuetix.com.

Some considerable time has passed since we last explored the 'movie of the week' genre on the podcast. Luckily, if we ever run out of 90s films to talk about, there are literally thousands to pull from. This is one that has really stuck with me since I was a teenager. I remember taping this from tv and cutting the commercials out so I could watch it back uninterrupted. Out of all of the films, this particular one I watched ALL the time. I got Charles on this episode who knew nothing about it to watch it for the episode. While you think it may be a more lighthearted tale of a girl who leaves home, that is most definitely not the whole story. It gets pretty dark when this teenager is coping with how to survive on the streets with her 19 year old (eek) boyfriend/partner in crime. We talk the ins and outs of the story and just how much happens to them along the way, the holes in the story, and why we wish there was a more detailed ending to this tale.  Watch the movie: https://youtu.be/2EbTXn9yf-8?si=A44Unq775_M-LqULOff-topic rants include: proper wildlife identification, forestry, and runaway teen protocol --- Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the  Patreon! GIVE US A 5 STAR RATING & SUBSCRIBE!Hosts: Lauren @lauren_melanie & Charles @charleshaslamFollow Fashion Grunge PodcastSubstack The Lo Down: a Fashion Grunge blog/newsletterInstagram @fashiongrungepodTwitter @fgrungepodLetterboxd Fashion Grunge PodcastTikTok @fashiongrungepod

For some reason, the only explicitly-named media crossover we ever got was the made-for-TV movie. All sorts of works are adapted from one medium to another, but to my knowledge, the only time a medium itself was adapted was when they made movies, but for TV. It never went the other way. We also never got the made-for-TV book, the made-for-book play, or the made-for-opera cassette tape.

If you're looking for a seedy, movie of the week type film that almost takes you there but not quite...look to Devil in the Flesh from 1998. I had seen some of the stills one night on Tumblr, and I enlisted Mikey to chat about our first time thoughts. We touch on what the story needed to push further, the accurate fashion, and why a kicking soundtrack could have really saved this film. Off-topic rants: I got Mikey into Vanderpump Rules and we chat about it from about 27:00-40:00--- Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the  Patreon! GIVE US A 5 STAR RATING & SUBSCRIBE!Hosts: Lauren @lauren_melanie & Mikey @agentmikey007  Music by Den-Mate @imdenmateFollow Fashion Grunge Podcast Substack The Lo Down: a Fashion Grunge blog/newsletterInstagram @fashiongrungepodTwitter @fgrungepodLetterboxd Fashion Grunge PodcastTikTok @fashiongrungepod

"The Rise and Fall of a Legal Legend: The Alex Murdaugh Story" From his humble beginnings in Varnville, South Carolina, Alex Murdaugh seemed destined for greatness. With a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law and admission to the South Carolina Bar, the future was bright. But beneath the surface of success, darkness lurked. From 2011 to 2019, Murdaugh allegedly failed to report over $6 million of illegal income. And when his housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield, met an untimely end. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. The tragedy continued when Murdaugh's own son, Paul, was implicated in the death of Mallory Beach. And then, on June 7, 2021, Murdaugh's wife and son were found dead at their estate. But it wasn't until October 14, 2021 that the truth came to light. Murdaugh was arrested for stealing insurance settlements and faced a litany of charges including forgery, breach of trust, money laundering, and computer crimes. His fall from grace was complete when he was disbarred and charged with murder. But even as the evidence stacked up against him, Murdaugh was granted a $7 million bond and stood trial in Colleton County. The trial of the century began on January 25, 2023. Was justice finally served, or did Murdaugh get away with murder? Find out in "The Rise and Fall of a Legal Legend: The Alex Murdaugh Story".
