This week, Les chats with Dan Lauria and Patty McCormack about the Off-Broadway premiere of Just Another Day, a play about wonderful old friends who may not even know each other, but who relive and celebrate a life together...maybe. In Just Another Day, a comedy writer and a sophisticated poet in their seventies meet daily on a park bench to exchange wits and barbs, and wax nostalgic about old movies, all the while trying to figure out how they know – and love – each other. At least for that day. Directed by Eric Krebs, the two-member cast is Dan Lauria, who also wrote the show, alongside Patty McCormack. Between them, Lauria and McCormack have over 100 years of live theatrical experience, as well as over 150 television shows and films. Dan Lauria has appeared as a guest star in over seventy television episodic programs and more than twenty Movie Of The Week productions plus a score of motion picture credits. Dan is a very familiar face to the off-off, off and regional theatre scene having performed, written or directed over 50 professional stage productions. Dan is most recognized as the Dad on the highly acclaimed, Emmy winning, ABC television show, “The Wonder Years.” Patty McCormack brings to her role more than seven decades of stage, screen and television appearances. From her Oscar and Golden Globe nominated performance in The Bad Seed to work in the Oscar and Golden Globe Nominated Frost/Nixon and The Master; starring in her own television series “Peck's Bad Girl” to creating memorable characters on television favorites from “Dallas” to the “The Soprano's”; and her extensive theatrical work beginning with a Broadway debut at the age of six in Touchstone starring Ossie Davis. Patty McCormack brings her diverse range of talent to every role she plays. We talk about writing, acting, their connection to live theater, and much more. If you're in the New York area and want to catch the show (and you should) tickets are $49-$69 ($99 premium) and may be obtained at www.theater555.venuetix.com.

This week the conversation is joined by Theo Venter. Sad, tradgic, and triumphant is how I would describe Theo's journey. A wonderful conversation, honest and raw in nature. Be warned you might shed a tear. When Theo Venter removed his insulated gloves while working on a damaged transmission pole, he made a decision that would impact himself and his family in ways he couldn't have imagined. But why did Theo, an experienced liney, make what the safety industry would tell us was a poor decision? “Just Another Day” takes an in-depth look at the way in which workplace culture dictates safety, breaking through the many myths and misunderstandings associated with our safety industry. Using tried and tested psychological concepts, Theo Venter examines why incidents and accidents still happen in your workplace today. He uses his own tragic story as living proof that a fatality lurks just around the corner, waiting silently in the background until someone in the workplace takes a “convenient option” (short-cut). Theo discusses the role of every individual within your organisation in his must-see presentation. Not just for each and every member of your work crew or work team, but for managers and leaders alike. Shahla Reynolds I combine my early Persian upbringing with my Western knowledge to create a dynamic fusion of sculpture forms. My sculptures emphasize fluid grace with sinuous curves, free flowing and on occasions abstract yet true to form. My stylistic tools include the hues and luminosity of the medium itself, whether it is alabaster, marble, clay, These artworks are a direct result of my everyday life experiences, and are the results of my constant search for a new way to remain hopeful among midst of chaos and turmoil. With my bright colors, my objective is to remind the viewer ot rainbows that appear after the rain and the peaceful nature of them. While the subtle curve lines in every sculptures, I tend to bring a sense of calm and thoughtfulness. Drawing from life and its struggles allows me to present each piece in a new way through shapes or colors, while getting the message across. My ultimate goal is to allow for others to be inspired by what they see and share the journey with others. I have a Masters in Art, and I have been an artist for over 20 years with several major artworks in public places. I have had the privilege of creating several major public art pieces. My first project was a 29 foot-tall piece titled: “Just Another Day.” Later, I created “Going Home” to memorialize the 14 victims of the I-40 Bridge collapse in Webbers Falls. My last project was in 2017, when I designed “They Gave The Last Measure Of Devotion” honoring fallen firefighters. https.www.sonarta.com contact@sonarta.com 405-642-5307 Instagram: #sonarta1 Facebook: sonarta.com Twitter: @sonartadotcom Pinterest: Sonarta.com ***Head on over to Creatrix Compass and explore our many offerings from free inspiration to get your creative juices flowing to creativity classes to creativity coaching and life coaching for creatives. Twenty-two years ago, Roz Warren decided that fun was a higher priority than money. So she retired from the practice of law and became a librarian — providing rich material for the essays she began writing. She's the author of two essay collections, “Our Bodies, Our Shelves” and “Just Another Day at Your Public Library.” She's written for a host of publications, from the New York Times to the Funny Times, has appeared on “The Today Show” and has been published in 16 “Chicken Soup for the Soul” collections.Join host Jan M. Flynn as she talks with Roz about how nobody cares how old you are as a writer, as long as you've got something worthwhile to say — and how she went from being a lawyer to being an essayist, writing coach, editor, and a proud grandmother who is having the time of her life.

Today we have a special Combat Story that takes us from commanding in bloody fighting in Vietnam to some of the seminal moments in our military's Special Operations history, all courtesy of retired colonel Keith Nightingale.Keith served two tours in Vietnam, one as an adviser to the Vietnamese where he learned jungle warfare from one of the most interesting and lethal characters in country, followed by taking command of an infantry company in the 101st that had just been wiped out, literally, hours earlier. Keith was a founding member of the 1st Ranger Battalion when it was created by Gen Creighton Abrams in 1974-later commanding both that battalion and the Ranger brigade. He then gives us a fly on the wall perspective of the Desert One catastrophe and the subsequent birth and creation of what we know today as JSOC, to include why we have DIA, 160th, Delta and more. We even touch on Keith's time as the DoD lead tracking down none other than the Drug Kingpin Pablo Escobar.Keith has gone on to write three books, “Just Another Day in Vietnam”, “Phoenix Rising: From the Ashes of Desert One to the Rebirth of U.S. Special Operations,” and “A Soldier Looks Back: Memories and Reflections of a Combat Veteran, from Normandy to Afghanistan.” This was a memorable Combat Story that gives us a look inside some of the most significant moments that created the modern US military we all know and love today.Find Keith Onine:-Facebook Col Keith Nightingale https://www.facebook.com/ColKeithNightingale-Keith's books https://www.amazon.com/Keith-Nightingale/e/B016H5SV66%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share Ryan Online InformationFind Ryan Online: - Ryan's Linktree https://linktr.ee/combatstory- Merch https://www.bonfire.com/store/combatstory/- Instagram @combatstory https://www.instagram.com/combatstory- Facebook @combatstoryofficial https://fb.me/combatstoryofficial- Send us messages at https://m.me/combatstoryofficial- Email ryan@combatstory.com- Learn more about Ryan www.combatstory.com/aboutus- Intro Song: Sport Rock from Audio Jungle0:00 - Intro 0:45 - Guest Introduction (Keith Nightingale) 2:17 - Interview begins 2:40 - What he did in the army3:24 - how the military was “in his DNA” and being the first officer in the family that served as a career 7:30 - Getting orders to go to Vietnam and the most influential person in helping become a battlefield leader 18:10 - Combat Story #1 - first contact in Vietnam 24:59 - A “karmic” approach to combat learned in Vietnam 26:57 - Combat Story #2 - a long night in Vietnam 36:03 - Going back to Vietnam with Delta company 43:14 - An intense training in leadership 46:27 - Combat Story #3 - First time in the field with Delta and his leadership strategy for low morale 56:43 - The founding of JSOC and 1st Ranger Battalion 1:05:43 - Combat Story #4 - Operation Eagle Claw 1:32:57 - Tracking down Pablo Escobar 1:40:42 - What did you carry into combat?1:41:54 - Would you do it again?1:42:53 - Listener comments and shout outs
