2,000 families in New York City will now receive free childcare. Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced today that the city will cover all out-of-pocket costs for families who already receive subsidized care through the Child Care Assistance Program and pay a sliding-scale fee. This is projected to cost the city $5.2 million in the first year. New York City High schoolers now have a chance to see more broadway shows. Mayor Mamdani is giving out more than 2,000 broadway tickets through a lottery system. WFUV's Giuliana Guarracino with more. New York City has welcomed people from all over the world this summer. But for the next few days, they'll be welcoming something else… puppets.
