V seriji IndieRE v produkciji in mednarodni izmenjavi radijske vsebine sodelujemo ljubljanski Radio Študent, hrvaški Radio Student, francoska mreža Radio Campus, Radio Corax iz Halleja v Nemčiji, EMA-RTV iz Španije, irski Near FM, madžarski Civil Rádió in avstrijski Radio Helsinki. Welcome to the 101st edition of the IndieRE radio show prepared by Radio Študent in Ljubljana, Slovenia. We're starting off with a contemporary folk and etno inspired trio Ingver in Gverilke, who released their song Sestra or Sister. The song calls for solidarity of the oppressed and between the oppressed in current times with an emphasis on anti-patriarchal stance. We'll be staying in the realm of folk and indie atmospheres with 3:rma, a duo of Urška Supej and Maša But, who will join us in a short conversation. Their work is inspired by American folk music and focused on poetry and storytelling. At the end of December they've released their second EP titled The Garden of Edna inspired by the American feminist poet Edna st. Vincent Millay. Next we'll listen to new music from the academic jazz musician, composer and saxophonist Boštjan Simon, who's been active in many bands and projects. Fermented Reality is his newest work, his first solo album released on Nature Scene Records in February. Moving on to more jazz and r'n'b we'll be listening to Magic Pond's music from their second EP Drama at the Lake from June last year and talk about their music with the lead vocalist Klara Veteršek. Electronic producer Grega Kalinski or Douchean made some fresh breakbeat, electro, bass, atmospheric dance music packed up in an EP Aphrodisiac released on De/fragment. It consists of five long, detailed and impactful tunes and is one of the best electronic productions so far this year. Staying in the lane we'll feature Age of Revolt, a new EP Fake Everything by the producer and DJ Jakob Bekš, who's been active under several names in the Ljubljana's electronic music scene since the 2010s' and runs the label Honest Work Recordings. We'll conclude the show with something very special and specific – live coding of music. It's a method of producing and modifying sound live with code in a programme built with samples, sounds etc. The movement is called toplap and the music ranges from ambiental to noise and rave, called algorave or algorithm rave. One of the prominent musicians in this field is Luka Prinčič who performed live coding at the New Music Forum in Cankarjev dom in November 2023 and has released the recording under the title algoforte05live in January this year. 1. Ingver in Gverilke – Sestra [4:15] (single, self-released, 2023) 2. 3:rma – Consensual Longing [6:58] (The Garden of Edna, self-released, 2024) 3. In this edition of IndieRE by Near FM, immerse yourself in the latest musical offerings from across the island of Ireland. The musical journey begins with Pillow Queens, an Irish indie rock band from Dublin, formed in 2016. Same city of an emerging artist, Rudy, a.k.a. Rudy Anna Kelly. We are going to the marginalized areas in Northern Ireland where Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí created the music project Kneecap that combines Irish and English, satire and socially conscious lyrics, and reality and absurdity. Next up is the spirited quartet Problem Patterns, proudly identified as four shouty queers crafting songs that encapsulate the current moment. Alanah, Bethany, Bev, and Ciara, formed the band in 2018, introducing a genre they coined as PUNK—a blend of shouty, heavy, tongue-in-cheek, inclusive, hopeful, and fun elements. Our musical journey takes us to Cork, Spain, and West London, guided by the versatile Jessica Smyth, known as Biig Piig. An artist fluent in both English and Spanish, Biig Piig has lived in Ireland, Spain, and the UK. Switching gears, we delve into the political realm with Captain Moonlight's poignant song, I Want To Fight The Taoiseach, addressing the Irish Prime Minister. Returning to Cork, we explore the rock fusion sounds of City Weezle, a band founded in Paris by Irishman Simon Fleury. Their demos, City Weezle (2006) and The Leprechaun (2008), mark their prominence in the French/Irish/European underground fusion scene. This episode showcases the incredible diversity and influence of Ireland's independent music sector, offering a rich tapestry of creative output. 1. Pillow Queens – Suffer 2. Rudy – Lily pad 3. Mit solchen und weiteren Fragen werden sich verschiedene Freie Radios aus Europa in Ihrem Musikmagazin beschäftigen. ## IndieRE #85 by Radio Študent, Ljubljana Enainštirideseta oddaja iz nove serije IndieRE 2.0. V seriji IndieRE v produkciji in mednarodni izmenjavi radijske vsebine sodelujemo ljubljanski Radio Študent, hrvaški Radio Student, francoska mreža Radio Campus, Radio Corax iz Halleja v Nemčiji, EMA-RTV iz Španije, irski Near FM, madžarski Civil Rádió in avstrijski Radio Helsinki. Ula and Jan from Radio Študent, Ljubljana, Slovenia, will take you through the sounds of SsmKOSK's glitchcore and flamenco, following by a new compilation from ŠOP Records, an underground Slovenian label that releases experimental, weird, lo-fi, funny, critical and noisy soundscapes. We'll speak with Tit Podobnik, the label's main man about celebrating the label's 10-year anniversary this year and the new released music from 35 various artists titled Slounds From Slovenian Bedrooms V. Next up we'll have Boštjan Franetič, a jazz guitar player who recently formed a new quartet and has released an album called Siciljanka or Lady of Sicily and who'll be joining us in the studio for a brief interview. We'll also listen to a fresh collab, a bridge between generations, between Eva Jakimoska or Moska, a young producer and DJ, and SunnySun, an oldschool and more established producer. They have released an EP called Milka with three mixes of electronic breaks, ghetto house and electro. Continuing with electronic dance sounds, but a bit deeper, we'll listen to darker shades of spacey techno by producer Zergon, who released a new EP called Nusent. Smedja and Smetke will be next, a one-man project by Matic Medja, one of the hottest power violence artists on Ljubljana's music scene at the moment. He recently released a new album Smetobolje. We'll conclude the broadcast with an in-house release, a various artists compilation Klubski maraton 2023, a collection of works from six upcoming artists and bands that we picked as a part of the Klubski maraton tour of 2023. This is a 23-year ongoing project that highlights new music constellations and names in the Slovenian independent alternative music scene. The artists record the songs in our studios at Radio Študent, our record label Zarš releases the compilation, and we organise a tour through Slovenia's youth centres and clubs where the musicians get an idea how a musician's work looks and can get comfortable with performing on stage more, explore their sound and so on. We also organize a final concert in Ljubljana where all six chosen bands perform together and conclude the marathon so to speak. 1. SsmKOSK – sanje, izgubljene v krvi in transferjih [4:52] (610a: notranji petki, Zvočni prepihi, 2023) 2. balans – perspektiva [5:03] (Sounds From Slovenian Bedrooms V, ŠOP Records, 2023) 3. trinajst – Capable of action, prone to inertia [4:00] (Sounds From Slovenian Bedrooms V, ŠOP Records, 2023) 4. V seriji IndieRE v produkciji in mednarodni izmenjavi radijske vsebine sodelujemo ljubljanski Radio Študent, hrvaški Radio Student, francoska mreža Radio Campus, Radio Corax iz Halleja v Nemčiji, EMA-RTV iz Španije, irski Near FM, madžarski Civil Rádió in avstrijski Radio Helsinki. Mellow sounds with gloomy overtones, blurring the frontier between the organic and the synthetic. This is how you could describe a certain slice of Paris' contemporary musical underground, spearheaded by DIY producers and leftfield labels alike. This episode of IndieRE, produced by Radio Campus Paris in collaboration with Planisphère, shines light where darkness lingers, namely in the music of Morfine, Didem Coskunseven and the duo Omer. Morfine is one of the aliases of Estelle Morfin. Combining activities as an artist, radio host, DJ, label founder and journalist, she has released two EPs under the name Roman Delore, as well as the album Blinding Nights as Morfine. Didem Coskunseven is a composer, sound designer and musician from Istanbul who studied composition at the University of California in Berkeley. Now based in Paris, she studies composition and computer music at Ircam while creating works as influenced by modal jazz than by contemporary ambient music. Omer is the duo of Tristan Hamelin Foulon and Jason Bancilhon. On their first album Polyphon, they translate bird song into a score, put a piano through autotune and experiment with musical traditions ranging from Erik Satie to German industrial pioneers Einstürzende Neubauten. Created in 2018 with the goal of bringing into the spotlight up-and-coming artists of the experimental music scene, Planisphère organises underground events and releases albums and EPs by new and inventive artists. While experimentation is a guiding principle in sound as well as image, their aesthetic spectrum is deliberately large. Abrasive techno sits alongside intimate folk, ambient and noise neighbour jazz and space rock. 1. Morfine – Shapes 2. Morfine – Dark Stars 3. Morfine – Credo 4. Didem Coskunseven – Ext.thewoods.night (interpreted by Ensemble Nikel) 5. Omer – Pièce pour Automate 6. Omer – Les danseuses 7. Omer – Huit heures douze * Produced by Radio Campus, Paris. * Prepared, produced, mixed and announced by Philipp Fischer. Morfine & Didem Coskunseven interviews by Philipp Fischer, with additional questions by Eglantine Laval. Join me in this episode of "Two Worlds, One Me", as I sit down with the fascinating David Bailey, or as he likes to call himself, Pejcinovic-Bailey. David has had an extraordinary life, starting with his career as a soldier, serving in Germany and the UK from mid to late 90s. But that was just the beginning. After leaving the military, David embarked on a new adventure as a broadcaster, working for renowned organisations like the BBC, Independent Radio, and British Forces Broadcasting. His experiences behind the microphone took him to various places around the world. In 1996, David joined the UK Army Reserves and took on the role of a media officer. From there, he ventured into conflict zones, serving in Bosnia, Canada, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. But it doesn't stop there. David's passion for media led him to become a media trainer in Ethiopia and the South Caucasus.Since 2005, David has made a charming village in the northwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, called Cardacani, his home base. He claims that it's where he's happiest, and I can't wait to delve into the reasons why. Now, let me share a few intriguing facts about David. Did you know that he conquered the two highest peaks in Ecuador back in 1989? Impressive, right? In recognition of his valuable service, he was awarded the Queen's commendation in 1999 and even made an MB in 2002, all for his contributions in the former Yugoslavia. While David claims to speak "passable" German, he admits to struggling with the languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina. But don't be fooled, he can certainly get by now.As for how I stumbled upon David, it was through my endless quest for captivating podcasts covering the Balkans and the former Yugoslavia. And yes, did I strike gold! His podcast, aptly named "English Man in The Balkans," is filled with remarkable conversations with intriguing individuals from the region and beyond. So, grab a cuppa, sit back, and join me as I uncover the incredible life of David Bailey in this episode of "An Englishman in The Balkans." Trust me, you won't want to miss it!________Look out for David Bailey's podcast called "An Englishman in the Balkans"You can also subscribe to his blog with the same title and find him on Instagram, look for An Englishman in the Balkans PodcastLook out for David's new podcast "The Travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina Podcast"--------If you would like to talk to me about your two worlds, I would love to hear from you. The charge is made on broadcasters and used to fund the industry regulator, but it costs stations millions of euro each year, something the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland say is unfair. Chief Executive of Clare FM and Tipp FM, Ronan McManamy has told an Oireachtas Committee that Irish radio stations provide a valuable service at local, regional and national level and there's a need to protect that long into the future. The Chief Executive of Clare FM and Tipp FM has told an Oireachtas Committee that Irish radio stations provide a valuable service at local, regional and national level and there's a need to protect that long into the future. Ronan McManamy said there's opportunities to achieve some of this through funding already in place or proposed, but these schemes need to be less about reprogramming our stations and more about directing funding to where it's needed.

As broadcast October 18, 2022 with Al Green driving the ladies mad once again! Tonight we start with the so-called "Grits Incident," when a woman dangerously obsessed with soul singer Al Green poured boiling grits over his head and then committed suicide in the next room with The Reverend's own gun. This is one tale in a long and weird line of Al Green driving women so wild they actually ended up severely injuring the object of their affection. Since it is Tuesday we have tons of new indie and underground music to get through with Kat Bass, as it has been a busy weekend of new tunes just out. Highlights this week come from Men I Trust, ALASKALASKA, girl in red, Barrie, and many beyond just that.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Al Green – You Ought To Be With MeBlossom Club – MotiveGLOSSER – Disco GirlsJohn Moods – Such a ThrillHuman Barbie – emptyDress Warm – Take a Hint Part II (33:25)girl in red - October Passed Me By Zachary Knowles - SOMEWHERE IN TEXAS Fazerdaze - Winter Tomper - Cruise Control Barrie - Unholy Appetite Morabeza Tobacco - Teacher's In The Mood Part III (60:32)Men I Trust - Girl Indigo Sparke - Golden Ribbons Say Sue Me - A.M. 180 Elephant Motel - Time Fly By Tahiti 80 - Cameo SALES - July Part IV (90:35)Sunbeam Sound Machine - Two Summers Layten Kramer - Employment Clear Coast - All I Ever Was Jean Dawson - PIRATE RADIO* ALASKALASKA - Glass ALASKALASKA – Still Life
