The Quick Game isn't some new fangled thing in football. In fact, in the passing game, it may be as old as the power/counter combo. However, it is still extremely effective. The quick game can give you a quick strike game plan to take advantage of what your opponent is giving you defensively. On this episode Joe and Daniel discuss the quick game, what it consists of, why you need it, and how to use it with the offense you already have installed.

Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the LSU Tigers fronts seven which is really good for Brian Kelly and probably has a shot to be the most influential unit in this game. So for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss Football it becomes about how you deal with that unit and what can you do to combat what they are doing. A lot has to do with tempo, not just with the snap but also the play length. Hitches, Pop Passes and Jet Sweeps need to be incorporated. If not this group has a chance to win the game themselves. In the second segment of the show we talk about 3rd Down and how that is the down that both Ole Miss and LSU Football have struggled with at times. Florida State and Arkansas were both over 50% on third down conversions and LSU nearly went 0-2 in those games. Ole Miss doing what it can in the quick game vs the LSU Tigers and manageable 3rd Downs will be key for an offense averaging 25% this season. This is the game to not be arrogant on offense. In our final segment of the day we talk about how Spencer Sanders can help this team…Jaxson is the guy and nobody is saying otherwise but this game is the perfect opportunity to get Spencer about 10 very specialized snaps that gives the LSU defense a different look. Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Ole Miss football's game Saturday against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and begin to obsess about how defenses are playing the Ole Miss Football team. The Offense has not changed from Jeff Lebby to Charlie Weis Jr so we know that the Quick Game is a part of this offense and can be easily added. With the Wide Receiver unit and Tight End Unit thin at the moment Dayton Wade, Jordan Watkins and Michael Trigg will be counted on in the passing game. In the second segment of the show we talk about the defensive being more of a strength than I could have imagined in preseason and they even scored a Touchdown against the Tulane Green Wave when Jared Ivey scooped and scored late in the game Saturday. The next step in the Defensive development will be usage of Suntarine Perkins and using him to accent the defense. That unit played well in the second half last week. In our final segment of the day we talk about Ole Miss needing to not fall into the Alabama trap as this game with Georgia Tech is the Ultimate trap game. First you play a ranked team on the road…Then you play a team you beat 42-0 the year before and then you play Alabama in Bryant Denny Stadium on CBS. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Dan and Nick break down the All-22 coaches film of the Giants' Week 15 win over the Commanders on the offensive side of the ball by breaking down the end zone and sideline angles from the coaches film. They go play by play, drive by drive, with long extensive breakdowns of each play. They talk about Mike Kafka's excellent game plan adjustment, great play calls, great throws by Daniel Jones and the offensive line play individually and overall. The show wraps up with superlatives: best player on film, unheralded player, best throw, best route, best play call and then a pass blocking grade (1-10) and a run blocking grade (1-10). TD Wire's Laurie Fitzpatrick returns to Matt Waldman's RSP Quick Game in Week 3 to break down the Jaguars' victory over the Colts, how we evaluate running backs in pass protection and what we're looking at away from the ball when we grind film. This week, Laurie and I dig into the guts of the Jaguars' defensive performance that stifled the undermanned Colts' offense. We also examine the match-up game of the Jaguars' offense that profited from key injuries along the Colts' defense. We also discuss the techniques, concepts, characteristics of opposition, and prioritization of information involved with running backs protecting the passer. We finish the show with a conversation about all the things we're examining on the field while grinding tape before we even consider following the football. And of course, if you want to know about the rookies from this draft class, you will find the most in-depth analysis of offensive skill players available (QB, RB, WR, and TE), with the 2022 Rookie Scouting Portfolio for $21.95. TD Wire's Laurie Fitzpatrick joins Matt Waldman and the RSP Quick Game podcast for the 2022 NFL season. I cut Mark Schofield. He missed one too many skinny posts and it's time to go in another direction. You know this is far from the truth. Mark has earned an excellent full-time opporutnity that will preclude him from co-hosting the Quick Game. I'm thrilled for him. I'm also thrilled to work Laurie. A repeat guest of past RSP Film Room's, Laurie is my sister in film. You can find her film break downs at TD Wire with Doug Farrar. Laurie's also a former starting running back in a league that CBS' Emory Hunt used to cover at his site, Football Gameplan. Let me get this straight: Matt Waldman's bringing on a film analyst from TD Wire who played running back? Yep. You know I didn't have to think twice. This week, Laurie and I discuss a variety of NFL-related topics leading up to the opener: Why the Vikings, Dolphins, and Jaguars offenses excited us this year. Why the rookie year decisions of Michael Thomas and Drew Lock are a positive indication for Skylar Thompson's perspective and work ethic. Our breakdown of Gabriel Davis as an athlete and a fit in the Bills' system. Where we stand with the Jaguars running back room. Achilles' injuries and why the idea that James' Robinson's lack of top speed will be a positive aspect about his recover is a false theory. Why Brandon Aiyuk is poised for big things. Why training camp is important for the football team, but not necessarily an indicator of individual production. Players who impressed in training camp, but placing it in proper context. How Laurie got started with breaking down tape. Tips to avoid injury with film grinding: Sounds crazy, but if NFL DE/OLB Ryan Riddle suffered more injuries writing than he did playing football, then we're onto something. We'll be back in two weeks to discuss the NFL. Listen below or with your favorite podcast service.
