The amazing Lian Van Leeuwen is my guest today. Lian is the founder of Shift Cycling Culture, an adventurous cyclist and cycling photographer, based in Rotterdam. Lian photographed and blogged at almost all the relevant fixed gear and self support bikepacking races like The Red Hook Crit, The Transcontinental Race, The Atlas Mountain Race and The Silk Road Mountain Race. Chas Christiansen aka Notchas is my guest today. Chas is an artist, a professional fixed gear & ultra endurance athlete, a former bike messenger and simply an overall inspiring person. Besides the Transcontinental Race, Chas took part in the inaugurial Atlas Mountain Race, FURTHER and the Stage Coach 400 - a self support Mountain Bike Race. Yoann s'est ensuite laissé tenter par le cyclisme longue distance et est tombé sous le charme de l’ambiance et de ce type d’aventure cycliste. Raphaële Lemieux, who retired from speed skating and road riding roughly 11 years ago, picked up racing fixed-gear bikes a few years ago. She’s been doing pretty well at that discipline. This year, she won the Red Hook Crit in Brooklyn and the Red Hook series overall. She discusses the fun of racing fixed, the speed-skating skills that transfer over to her cycling endeavours and what it’s like balancing a 40-hour workweek and racing at a high level. Megha Doshi is the local marketing director for Strava, the social networking site for athletes. Before heading to Strava several years ago, Megha worked for Nike, where she was a member of the digital sport group at Nike. She’s a sub-three-hour marathoner and is currently training for the 2017 Boston Marathon. Megha runs 60–70 miles per week, and trains and races with the all-female Impala Racing Team in San Francisco. Megha and I talked about what a day in the life of a Strava employee is like, how she embodies the five core values at Strava, and how she works sweatworking into her busy — and endorphin-filled — schedule. March 27, 2014 The Broken Spokes talk to 6-time national champion, winner of the 2008 Redhook Criterium, organizer of the first ever women's division of the Redhook Criterium, and Clara's former teammate/roommate, Kacey Manderfield Lloyd.    Kacey explains the Redhook Crit, how it came together, and her experiences racing and winning on a track bike with the boys.
