Freshly returned from his recent east coast Verbal Assault reunion tour, Pete Chramiec has returned to the TMpod as well. It is always a delight to catch up with Pete. Our conversation covers his experience on the VA 'two-er' (the band played two shows), his fear of having preshow diarrhea (he didn't!) and how wild it was for this 'humble carpenter' to take the stage again after all these years. We cover a ton of other stuff like house building, A-frames, my job at Amazon and the madness and tragedy of Putin's idiotic war in Ukraine. It's a perfect episode that perfectly sums up what it is to be TMpod episode 61. Thank you for listening and for supporting the pod!!! This week Jason talks with TM pod regular, Pete Chramiec about the recently announced Verbal Assault reunion shows scheduled to take place Sept. 2021 in New England. Pete shares his concern that the newly surging Covid-19 Delta Variant may lead to the postponement of the dates but as of now they are very much a go. He talks about his recent trip back east to practice with the band and how much fun it was to revisit their set after a silence of 30 years. The two get deep into the reeds with talk about the equipment used to get the VA sound and a rundown of guitarists (all from Washington D.C.) who most influenced his style and approach to playing in a hardcore band. Jason reminds listeners that Pete won 'Best Guitarist' in the 1989 FlipSide readers poll (Flea got best bassist, Fugazi best new band). Along the way he spills the recipe for ‘New Englands best clam chowder' and tells us why the pineapple is a symbol of Newport R.I., and why it has nothing to do with 'the swinger lifestyle'. It's mostly all fun with a little climate catastrophe and fascism talk too. Thanks for listening and for supporting the pod! With so much emphasis on protein, it's easy to forget that excess protein is not only toxic (which we've covered extensively)--it also can't be used by the body. The real secret to maximizing protein is actually focusing on what protein BECOMES after it's digested: amino acids. Amino acids bring many health benefits, from muscle and metabolism to brain and beyond. Tony and I review the latest science and give you tips for maximizing your amino acid intake. Next, I have my very special guest John Salley who is Master of Habit Change, NBA Champ, an Actor, Philanthropist, Chef, Wellness Advocate, and Entrepreneur. We talk about his passion in the fight against diabetes and his documentary "Invisible Vegan". Listen in as John shares the many different aspects of his career and how health and fitness is a huge part of his life. [BULLETS] Tony breaks down how amino acids are the building blocks of protein... Ways in which amino acids are beneficial for healthy skin, hair, and muscle tone... What protein does for the body... What digestive enzymes do for your body and why they are so important... Why it's so important to include digestive enzymes into your lifestyle... Why we should shift our focus from protein to amino acids... John shares his transition from his successful basketball career to what he is doing now... What it means for John to be a "Master of Habit Change", and how he became a master of this change... How John's journey led him to becoming a plant based chef... What the documentary "Invisible Vegan" is about and where did the idea came from... What the Operation Smile is... We talk about John's passion in the fight against diabetes... How John is involved with the PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine), and what his mission is with the Child Nutrition Act... [FEATURED GUESTS] About John Salley A proud native of Brooklyn, New York, John found a love for basketball at an early age. He accepted a Basketball Scholarship to Georgia Tech to play for legendary head coach Bobby Cremins. From there Salley went on to become a 15-year NBA veteran and was the first NBA player to win four championships with three different teams. After his retirement from the NBA in 2000, Salley explored several opportunities in both television and film. John has served as host for numerous award shows and recently hosted the Reunion Shows of VH-1's #1 rated show, Basketball Wives. John is also the head of his own production company. John is actively involved with Operation Smile, PETA and the fight against Diabetes. In addition, John is involved with PCRM and visited Washington in Nov '09 and May '10, speaking to Congress about the Child Nutrition Act, asking Members to support legislation that would increase vegetarian options in meals served in public schools. John has adopted a plant based (raw vegan) lifestyle, and is a frequent speaker at VegFest's across the USA. As a Wellness Advocate, one of John's main missions in life is to continue to educate people on the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle through better eating habits. The Bachelor limped toward its finale with three hours of programming, in which Bachelor Nick was featured as little as possible. Because what everyone really wants is lots more of Corinne, right? Riiiight? My Big Fat Fabulous Life continued to prepare for the big dance battle, even though no one seems that into the idea. Face Off had an animated puppet challenge that was fairly non-creepy as animated puppet challenges go. And Masterchef Junior turned into Hell’s Kitchen Junior for a week, which annoyed Monty.
Happy Back To The Future Day!Das Jahr 2015 brachte bisher neben unserem erfreulichen Comeback samt dicken "Zurück in die Zukunft" Anstrich im Mai auch den 30. Back To The Future Day! ;)Weiterlesen »
