He's an attorney and shareholder in the San Diego office of Ogletree Deakins which is a California-based law firm. During his 25 years of experience litigating employment law claims, he has helped clients respond to just about every type of employment-related lawsuit that can be filed in California. He works with a team of talented defense attorneys in the firm's San Diego office as well as the firm's other offices throughout the state. He has 25 years of litigation experience combined with a long history of advising employers on a broad range of compliance issues and that enables Chris to offer his clients practical, succinct and creative advice. He got his law degree from Loyola Law School and his B.A. in the University of California, Berkeley. In this episode, Jordan and Chris discuss: Worldwide trends in harassment, discrimination, and hostile work environment The state of remote working in the pandemic and how it might be moving forward Supporting people emotionally as a leader or co-worker Working with executive coaches to handle leadership issues Key Takeaways Thanks to remote working, people reveal a part of themselves that they may perhaps not want to. We have to be sensitive to each other's preference for privacy. As leaders or even just co-workers, we have to check up on each other and show a level of empathy to how people are feeling without breaching any boundaries. If you're not a licensed mental health professional, don't involve yourself more than you should. Instead, help people get the help they need. If you want to lead effectively, you need to speak the language of the people you're leading “You can be hard as an executive if you've earned their respect and you inspired people to work at their best. ” — Chris Olmsted Get the complimentary guide: How To Select An Executive Coach at www.selectcoach.workplacewarrior.com Get the Am I Abrasive Self Test at abrasive.workplacewarrior.com Connect with Chris Olmsted: Website: https://ogletree.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christopherolmsted/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisOlmsted Connect with Jordan: Get the complimentary guide: How To Select An Executive Coach at www.selectcoach.workplacewarrior.com Get the Am I Abrasive Self Test at abrasive.workplacewarrior.com Website: www.workplacewarriorinc.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/jordangoldrich1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jordan.goldrich Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jordangoldrich/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jgoldrich/
Today's World Is Fertile Ground for a Spiritual Awakening that Calls Jesus Followers to Obey and be “Strong and Courageous” – God Is with Us and In Us MESSAGE SUMMARY: We have been equipped, as God told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 29:11-12, for God's purposes in our lives: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.". In Joshua 1:9, God commands us to be strong and courageous because He is with us. Also, God gave Joshua truths that would confirm God's support in His command of Joshua: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”. Often the Lord has called or commanded us to do something in His service, but tough decisions for us arise for us when we are not fully committed to obey God; and we fall into disobedience. When we obey God's commands, He steps into lives with support for us to achieve His command. Also, God instructed Joshua, in Joshua 1:6, to be “strong and courageous”: “Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.". We must be “strong and courageous” to do the will of God when we are called. Additionally, God commanded Joshua to be committed to the Word of God. Courage is acting and speaking even though you are afraid. If you follow God's call and seek His will to live and act in His Word, there is no reason to be overcome by fear because “your God is with you wherever you go”. After God's grace through Jesus, God is in us through His gift to us of the Holy Spirit. You get strong by exercising the “muscles” of your faith and commitment to God's will and His word – often pushing your “commitment to God” beyond levels you thought possible. Spiritual strength comes from having God with you and in you. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, grant me wisdom and prudence to see the larger picture, to wait, and to discern the seasons in my life with you. Forgive me for fighting the “deaths” you send into my life in order to plant something new. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 107). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9). The Faith of Christians, Churches, and Nations Can Be Tested and Doubts Arise in Today's World; However, God Is Faithful and Will Not Forsake You MESSAGE SUMMARY: God will never leave you or forsake you. Even when difficulties arise and you are tempted to walk away from your faith, God will not leave you. When you are tempted to doubt God, remember that God is faithful. When the Apostles questioned Jesus about faith and prayer, Jesus told the Apostles, in Mathew 21:21-22, that your faith is powerful and that God will respond to your faith: “And Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.'”. Hold, unswervingly, to the hope and faith you profess because God, who promised us, is faithful. While you are endeavoring to hold onto your faith in God and Jesus' Gospel, you need to always remember the faithfulness of God, even in those times in which you may be doubting or questioning your faith. Do not give up your faith! TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, fill me with the simple trust that even out of the most awful evil around me, you are able to bring great good — for me, for others, and for your great glory. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 91). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will trust in the Lord with all my heart. I will trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding. General George Patton once said, "moral courage is the most valuable and usually the most absent characteristic in men." We need to change that. As Catholic Americans, we are members of the two most rebellious groups of people to ever live. Both Catholics and Americans have been willing to dies by the thousands in order to honor their beliefs, principles, and values. Sadly, this is no longer the case. Your average Catholic American can hardly stomach the idea of ruffling any feathers or pushing back against the mainstream ideologies on topics that are central to our faith and our constitution. It is our hope that this message gives you the inspiration needed to push back against the commonly accepted evils of our time. It's time to get in the game. The age of the virtuous bystander is over. Much will be expected of us during this time. Fight hard. To learn more about Seeking Excellence, go to thosewhoseek.org and follow us @seeking365.
