John Lee Dumas, author of The Common Path to Uncommon Success: A Roadmap to Financial Freedom and Fulfillment is best known for building a successful podcast empire where he shares value with his more than 1.4 million listeners each month, wrote the book, because he wants to help everyone – not just his audience, achieve financial freedom. He said, “I want everybody who has a dream of finding their version of uncommon success. Everybody who has a dream of achieving financial freedom and fulfillment. This book will get you there.” Dumas says that so “many people out there live in their comfort zone,” including himself and that's why he decided to write a book. However, he knew he had to have the right team in place to ensure the book was successful and help as many as possible. Deciding what to include was a thoughtful process that Dumas describes as painstaking process boiling down over 3,000 interviews into 17 core principles. The book is a roadmap to achieve success and financial freedom. Dumas adds, “The path to uncommon success is not a secret, it's not complicated, it's not hidden. It's a common path but it takes hard flipping work.” After chasing success for over three decades, he kept coming up short. Whether it was law school, commercial real estate, or other ventures, it was an Einstein quote that launched his future. That's when he decided to stop chasing success and become a person that adds value. Dumas has been able to build a successful empire but that didn't come without 6 years of struggle. Throughout his journey he has learned plenty from his guests and from the process of building a business. He offers the following advice, “Listen to your audience's biggest struggle. That will lead you to create the product, the service, the community….to offer them as a solution. When you create the best solution to their problem, you will always win.” Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Joining me today from Dublin, Ireland, for this episode of the Mads Singers Management Podcast is the owner of Arlo Blue, Sinead Kearns.Initially, a teacher who worked in a school for the disadvantaged, Sinead loved her job. However, being an ambitious person made her seek better opportunities. Remembering her father's advice on being your boss, Sinead went back to her roots and thought of what path to take. Naturally passionate about sports and fashion, Sinead took the plunge because she wanted to provide high-quality clothing at reasonable prices. Often, many business owners believe that they need to know everything to start a business. While this may be true initially, you don't need to continue on this path, especially if it takes up most of your time. Learn to delegate small tasks to your staff even if you are starting to focus your energy on building and developing your business. Later down the road, you can bring in experts who lighten the burden and help your business grow. (Refer to Episode 97 where Nicolene Elhadad talked about having a super team) No matter how small or stupid, asking questions may help you see clearer and set you on the right path or give you the best lessons.Starting a business is all about taking risks. However, it can improve lives and even give you fame or fortune when done right. While those closest around you only want the best for you, they may not be necessarily equipped with the knowledge and experience of businesses. However, even if you fail a business venture, you can use this as a stepping stone in a future job search or take lessons from it to start again. Sometimes, we may get rejected by others or make mistakes. However, this doesn't mean that it's the end of the world. It can allow us to take a step back and come back with a better strategy. We should also ask for help or share our problems because many people are willing to help even in the most simple ways.Key Learning Points: Mads says that management is such a critical self-development journey- 07:18 Sinead mentions Gwyneth Paltrow as an inspiration where there would be no stupid questions or where she would be ashamed to ask questions. - 07:36 Sinead says that it's essential for business owners to be open to learning, that they are learning and want to learn all the time, even if she has to ask obvious questions. - 08:13 Mads says that business owners who tend to pretend they know everything even if they don't are a great way to make many mistakes. - 08:48 Sinead recommends approaching someone ahead of you and asking them to be your mentor. - 09:39 Mads says that people shouldn't be discouraged, especially when receiving feedback from their friends or family. While people who love you and care about you want the best for you, they may not necessarily know anything about starting a business. - 12:11 Sinead says that when you can (and if you can), start hiring experts to make your business run smoothly. - 20:08 Sinead says that it's essential to be honest with your staff, especially if you make mistakes or if your business is facing challenges. - 23:42 Mads says that we shouldn't be ashamed to ask for help or share our problems because we are more likely to get and receive support from people. - 25:40 Mads says that when you have a good network, people love to help- 25:29 Resources Mentioned:The Common Path to Uncommon Success: A Roadmap to Financial Freedom and Fulfillment by John Lee DumasEntrepreneurs on Fire Podcast with John Lee Dumas The One Thing PodcastConnect with Sinead:LinkedInWebsiteFacebookInstagram

Scaling Up Nation, I cannot wait to introduce you to Paul Edwards. We met in our Mastermind group and have learned a great deal from one another. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, “When you meet new people, you open the door to new ideas and better ways of doing things that you never would have never thought of if you stayed alone in a silo.” Paul is a first-generation Spanish-speaking immigrant to the US with African heritage and Middle East combat experience. Paul's lived in five different countries, speaks two languages, and holds three passports. Paul wears many hats – he is CEO of a ghostwriting and content creation agency, bestselling author, podcast host, and one of the best people I know at networking. And if that wasn't enough, he is a husband, father, mentor, amateur theologian, men's physique athlete, voice mimic, and recovering insurance salesman. Yes, Renaissance Man, Paul Edwards does a lot of things really well, but in today's episode, he is going to speak into the power of great communication, generous networking, and authentic relationships. When Paul isn't writing content for clients, you're most likely to find him building relationships and creating opportunities for his network. Bottom line: Paul does two things well: words and people. Would you like to make more money, do what you're good at and stop the 9-5 grind? But you've been told that's impossible, right? My guest today, John Lee Dumas, is about to prove you wrong. He shares how he maximizes his productivity by systemizing the things he must do and outsourcing the things that others can do for him. He offers valuable insight on achieving a combination of financial freedom and fulfillment and why money makes great people even better. What you will learn: Set a morning routine Systemize and outsource You need a money vote—not a voice vote Wealth is a reflection of value Money is meant to be used How to know when you have enough You need both financial freedom and fulfillment Quotes: “I just do repeatable tasks. It's like, they didn't create the assembly line back in the day for one person to do 100 things. One person was doing one thing.” – John Lee Dumas “Listen, if you feel overwhelmed, it's because you have way too much on your plate. You need to be looking at how can you systemize things? How can you create processes?” – John Lee Dumas “It's much more than just a voice vote. You want a money vote, which really denotes ‘I'm all in on the validity of this product or service.'” – Derrick Kinney “If you're a great person, more money is going to even make you a greater person, because it's going to allow you to do bigger and greater things. If you're a bad person, money's probably going to make you a worse person because you're going to do bigger and badder things.” – John Lee Dumas “I think most people's wealth is in direct proportion to the value that they give to this world.” – John Lee Dumas “Money is meant to be moved. It's meant to be used. It's meant to flow. And so many people just play the Scrooge McDuck routine, where they just put all their money in a bank account, in a vault, and close the door and it just sits there and it's no use to anybody.” – John Lee Dumas “I decided when I got to a certain place in my business where I said, ‘Okay. I'm not going to work five times harder to make five times more money. John Lee Dumas delivers some incredibly powerful advice in his interview with show host Josh Steimle. “If you're a first-time entrepreneur trying to become an author, I have one incredibly strong piece of advice for you,” says John. “Come up with and create the number one solution to a real problem out there in this world. If you do that, and create content around that, people will beat a path to your doorstep every single time.” Some may disagree with John when he tells Published Author Podcast listeners: “Nobody needs to be motivated by you, by your story. Because guess what, there's millions of people out there that are doing and trying to do just that.” TOP TAKEAWAY: GIVE PEOPLE A SOLUTION He emphasizes: “What people need in this world is the best solution to one single problem in their life. And if you can hand that to them, you will win, your book will win, your business will win, your life will win because you will carve out a meaningful niche. You will become what I shared earlier within that, quote, as a person of value for me for the first time in your life.” John doesn't hold back from being controversial; although some people will disagree with this, he says people shouldn't share their life story or set out to motivate people: “That's what everybody does. They lead with that. They start their first half of the book with their life story. “I'm sorry, like, you're not a famous person that has this biography that we all want to consume, yet. You maybe someday, but you're not there right now. So why would you act like that? Come up with one incredibly amazing solution, the best solution to a serious problem. And then you win.” John and Josh also talked about John's latest book, set for publication on March 23, The Common Path to Uncommon Success: A Roadmap to Financial Freedom and Fulfillment. It contains all his learnings from more than 3000 entrepreneurs on his Entrepreneurs on Fire podcast. “I have been mentored by 3000 of the world's most successful entrepreneurs, I've learned from every single one of them so much,” he says. “I want it in your hands, because this is how you're going to achieve financial freedom and fulfillment. I want that for you because I know how it feels. And I want that for everybody because it's going to make this world a better place,” says John. “I'm going from just success which I've had for a long time now to significance. I really want to create significance in this world. And I can do that by helping people reach their uncommon success by helping people reach their version of financial freedom and fulfillment.” John's success took hard work. He was an army officer for six years, and after leaving struggled for six years. He tried corporate finance, law school, real estate, and a few other things, but nothing seemed to fit. One thing he did do was read a lot. At 32, a line from a book virtually reached out from the pages and slapped him in the face. It was Albert Einstein's: “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value”. John explains he had been chasing success my whole life but wasn't doing anything of value. The quote planted a seed, “which eventually led for me a couple months later to launch Entrepreneurs On Fire, which was the first daily podcast interviewing entrepreneurs. The podcast has published more than 3,000 episodes which have had more than 1.4 million listens. Monthly net profit is at least $100,000 - without doubt a thriving business! Most people don't have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. (That's actually not a bad thing.) They dream of having enough money to live in total financial freedom, but when the reality strikes, and it's time to toe the line, they fall short. Why does this happen? I had the honor of interviewing John Lee Dumas, founder & host of Entrepreneurs On Fire, who boldly answers this question and many more. John was an active-duty officer in the U.S. Army (spending time in a war zone in Iraq), where he developed an insane level of discipline and mental fortitude at quite a young age. He is definitely no stranger to overcoming challenges that seem impossible and uses those skills strategically in his business. In this episode, he discusses his new book, The Common Path to Uncommon Success: A Roadmap to Financial Freedom and Fulfillment, in which he lays out a 17-step roadmap to unlocking your greatest potential and creating a life of total fulfillment. (He even talks about some of those steps during the interview—one of which will blow your damn mind!) John has identified the common foundational principles successful entrepreneurs share that allow them to achieve uncommon success, and he dives deep into some of these in our interview. He also boldly goes where not many people are willing to go, and that is bringing to light that not everyone has what it takes to be an entrepreneur and how that isn't a bad thing! As you listen to this incredible interview, you will learn: The importance of the “Zone of Fire” and how to identify yours How being a “challenger” can help you reach massive success What 3 specific things John Lee has done better than most entrepreneurs The one thing that I attribute to my own high efficiency My #1 goal in life (this might even shock you) What John thinks about the idea that money cannot buy happiness John acronym for F.O.C.U.S (this is fantastic) He also shares how he generated $100,000+ net profit for 90 months in a row (which you can learn about in more detail in his book, which is now available for pre-order).
