Youngblood says he immediately dispatched deputies to Scrivner's Tehachapi home. When they arrived it was discovered Scrivner had been stabbed over allegations he had sexually assaulted a child. The following day... Wednesday... detectives arrived with a search warrant for the stabbing and sexual assault. They seized 30 firearms... electronics... including his phone... possible evidence of both the stabbing and sexual assault... as well as forensic evidence. Youngblood says to his knowledge... Scrivner is no longer in the hospital. He also confirmed there is an emergency protective order to keep him away from his children. This is still an ongoing investigation... But we've compiled all this information on our website, KGET dot com. Just scan the Q-R code on your screen for complete coverage of developments in the case, including Thursday's full press conference at the KCSO headquarters. Some of today's top storiesone of the most powerful political figures in Kern County -- 2nd District Supervisor Zack Scrivner -- is under investigation following allegations he sexually assaulted a child. The troubling allegations regarding Supervisor Scrivner and what happened at his Tehachapi house began circulating early Wednesday morning. It was a lot of hearsay... until Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood confirmed some of those shocking details. Scrivner has *not been arrested or charged. Youngblood says he received a call from District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer around 11 Tuesday night... saying her nephew... Zack Scrivner... was armed and suicidal. Youngblood says after hearing from a concerned and emotional Zimmer... he immediately dispatched deputies to Scrivner's Tehachapi home. Youngblood did not confirm the sexual assault but he says they're investigating with reason. That altercation led to Scrivner being stabbed twice in the upper torso with a knife. It is unclear what type of knife. Scrivner was taken to Kern Medical and treated for non life threatening injuries. Youngblood says to his knowledge... Scrivner is no longer in the hospital. The sheriff says Scrivner... his four children... all minors... and his parents were at the scene. Scrivner's wife Christina Scrivner was not on site. DA Zimmer also was not on site. Youngblood says no one other than Scrivner is under investigation. And it's unclear if there were attempts to conceal evidence... as alleged. The following day... Wednesday... detectives arrived with a search warrant for the alleged stabbing and sexual assault. They seized 30 firearms... electronics... including Scrivner's phone... possible evidence of both the stabbing and sexual assault... as well as forensic evidence. There is an emergency protective order to keep Scrivner away from his children... who are with their mother.Criminal defense attorney H-A Sala is representing District 2 Supervisor Zack Scrivner. Yesterday, he lashed out at Sheriff Donny Youngblood, over allegations, he says are false. About an hour after that declaration was made by Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood, Zack Scrivner's defense attorney H.A. Sala fired back at his own news conference. Again, Scrivner has not been arrested or charged with a crime. Sala believes there shouldn't be any charges filed. Sheriff Youngblood and Defense Attorney Sala do agree on one thing: the investigation is going to take longer because the case will be moved out of Kern County. As we mentioned, the county's lead prosecutor, District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer is Scrivner's aunt. There are several unanswered questions surrounding this investigation this morning... including... Where is Zack Scrivner? Was an emergency psychiatric hold placed on Zack Scrivner? Was there any effort to conceal what happened at the home? And what is Scrivner's future on the board of supervisors. We'll let you know, when those questions are answered. You can find all of our coverage of the investigation into Zack Scrivner on on our website, KGET dot com. Just scan the Q-R code on your screen for complete coverage, including the full news conference at the KCSO headquarters. The epic saga begins. Music aficionado Garrett Cash joins Justin for the first part of a sweeping miniseries on Elvis Presley's lifelong, intertwined history with country music. We begin with the complex web of myriad influences that paved the way for rock and roll, and we start by treating the history of the genre not as strictly "hillbilly music" but as part of a vital continuum of American music that has always, in practice, blurred social, racial and class lines, encompassing blues, pop, swing & big band, jazz, showtunes, and gospel - and we bring receipts. We deep dive the history of its stereotypical sounds like the fiddle, banjo and steel guitar, the development of country as a commercial entity following Ralph Peer's Bristol sessions and the introduction of The Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers, and trace the development of its subgenres, such as western swing, bluegrass, jug bands and hokum music, singing cowboys, honky-tonk and country boogie, leading us directly to the doorstep of 706 Union Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. You can find more of Garrett on "The Beat! Hey everyone, Ethan Gregory Dodge here with episode number 3 of Tattoo 408. We're moving on to a new artist. This week we have Scotty Weeks, founder of Marks of Art Tattoo. It's difficult to talk about San Jose tattooing and not bring up Marks of Art. It's been open on Union Avenue in the Cambrian neighborhood for 29 years. I paid the shop a visit back in April to ask Scotty all about his upbringing and career. I'm stoked to share it with you today. Just a couple of notes before we dive in: This was one of the first interviews that I did using these particular microphones. As a result, I didn't place them as well as I should have and there's a bit more background noise and mic bleed than I would like. I've done my best to minimize it while maintaining the shop's ambience. You will also hear some finger tapping close to the mic from Scotty. If you've listened to our interview with Tattoo John, then Scotty's name may sound familiar. It's because Scotty got his start looking over John's shoulder, so I had to make sure I asked John about that. As such, Scotty talks about John fairly extensively. If you haven't listened to John's interview, it comprises our first two episodes. Go back and listen to them! Scotty brings up an artist called Pinky. There is so much to be said about Pinky and he only really comes up in passing in this interview. But he had such an incredible impact on tattooing in San Jose and across the world. We will do an episode all about him in the near future, but if you want to learn more now, I wrote a 3,000 word article for Metro Silicon Valley on the life of Pinky. Shortly after that, I was asked to speak on a panel about Pinky at a Sacramento tattoo convention, Cap City Classic. And lastly, Scotty mentions Chuck Marshal. I just wanted to remind listeners that Tattoo John told me he got his first tattoo from Chuck. Unfortunately he's no longer around, but if you knew him, I'd love to talk to you! --- Love Tattoo 408? “JERRY LEE and THE SUN SOUND”The Sun Sound began when Sam Phillips launched his record company in February of 1952. He named it Sun Records as a sign of his perpetual optimism: a new day and a new beginning. Sam rented a small space at 706 Union Avenue for his own all-purpose studio. The label was launched amid a growing number of independent labels. In a short while Sun gained the reputation throughout Memphis as a label that treated local artists with respect and honesty. Sam provided a non-critical, spontaneous environment that invited creativity and vision. As a businessman, Phillips was patient and willing to listen to almost anyone who came in off the street to record. Memphis was a happy home to a diverse musical scene: gospel, blues, hillbilly, country, boogie, and western swing. Taking advantage of this range of talent, there were no style limitations at the label. In one form or another Sun recorded them all. Then in 1954 Sam found Elvis Presley, an artist who could perform with the excitement, unpredictability and energy of a blues artist but could reach across regional, musical and racial barriers. He helped form the beginnings of the Sun Sound by infusing Country music with R&B. Elvis's bright star attracted even more ground-breaking talent to the Sun galaxy. Listed among his contemporaries and music mates were Johnny Cash, the inimitable Jerry Lee Lewis, and the “Rockin' Guitar Man”, Carl Perkins. These four soon became known as the Million Dollar Quartet. Right behind them came Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich, Bill Justis, Harold Jenkins (a.k.a. Conway Twitty) and other equally memorable musical talents. All eventually sold on Pop, R&B and Country charts and grew to international fame.Rockabilly became the major evolution in the Sun Sound. Lyrically it was bold; musically it was sparse; but it moved. In the 1950's Country music rarely used drums that were so vital to jazz, blues, and jump bands. In fact, drums were prohibited on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. However, Rockabilly drums played an essential role in driving teens across the nation to become enamored with the Rockabilly movement and the revolutionary Sun Sound. Once again, Sun was able to break new ground recording music of unparalleled diversity in an incubator of creativity.Inherent in the music of Sun is a vibrancy that survives to this day. Sincere, passionate music. Music that has stood the test of time. It is music that has reached across race, age and gender boundaries. It reflects the diversity and vision of the talent that recorded on the Sun label, and indeed, American popular culture itself.

Frank's friend Sarah Roberto is filling in for Kathryn Frady. Sarah used to be the Director of Marketing for the Tennessee Valley Fair. Sarah mentioned that one of her former co-workers lives on Frank's street. Sarah is “team no pool.” Frank is shocked but admits that swimming pools are money pits. If you're not putting water and chemicals into it, you're pulling debris and critters out of it. Sarah's husband is a lawyer and politician. Her father-in-law is one of the scientists who discovered the element Tennessine (Symbol: Ts Atomic number: 117). Frank was excited to meet Dr. Roberto at a Super Bowl party. Frank is mentioned in chapter 8 of the new Missy Barrett book, The Case of the Thoughtful Thief by Elyse Bruce. He will read the chapter aloud on Thursday, April 28 at 3pm in the King Family Library, 408 High Street, Sevierville, TN. Sarah offers to “Mapquest directions” to the King Family Library. She then realizes that no one says Mapquest anymore. Frank prefers Google Maps. Frank mentions Amazon Alexa. Sarah responds that she bought a new car with an audio assistant. Frank asks if you say Siri or Alexa. Sarah says “Mercedes, turn on my heated seats.” Sarah has a TikTok account for her dog Baby Bear. The dog is a “CavaPoo,” which is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mixed with a poodle. Frank remembers when Sarah had low-paying jobs for non-profit organizations and she used him as a reference for a new job. Since then, she's earned her MBA and gotten a better-paying job in the tech field. Frank was walking along Union Avenue on his way to Scruffy City Hall to perform with Einstein Simplified. He accidentally inhaled some saliva and had to cough it out. Some people half a block away turned and gave Frank a nasty look because he had coughed. If Frank is near someone at church who coughs, he often gives them one of his Luden's Throat Drops. Sarah thinks that Luden' should become a sponsor of the Frank & Friends Show. Union Avenue w Portland to okolica słynąca z atrakcji, niestety nie tych kojarzonych z zabawą dla rodzin z dziećmi szukających zajęcia w sobotnie popołudnie. In this archive episode, Dennis explains CDS on a passenger in a motor vehicle may not give you PC to search the car under certain circumstances. Recorded on 08/14/2017. State of NJ V. Larry Wilson State of New Jersey v. Larry D. Wilson http://law.justia.com/cases/new-jersey/supreme-court/2003/a-49-02-opn.html?fbclid=IwAR2eSquaKb5k95GGNY6I6ijk_14oANcbo3H6hy0OU8Xj-DKvMdzv2KSdJpM (http://law.justia.com/.../supreme.../2003/a-49-02-opn.html) In this appeal, the Court is asked whether the State has satisfied its burden of demonstrating the validity of a warrantless automobile search. On February 30, 1999, at approximately 12:26 a.m., two officers in a marked police vehicle were patrolling the area of Union Avenue and Jasper Street in the City of Paterson. One of the officers observed a vehicle with a passenger suspected of having outstanding arrest warrants. The driver parked the vehicle on Jasper Street and the officers observed the defendant exit the vehicle. There was no indication that either of the occupants was aware of the marked police vehicle. Upon observing defendant and confirming the officer's belief that he was the person for whom the warrants had been issued, the officer called to defendant. Defendant walked towards the patrol vehicle and the officers arrested him based on the arrest warrants. Defendant had his hands inside his jacket sleeves and, in order to handcuff him, the officers asked that he remove them. Upon removing his hands out of the sleeves, one at a time, the officers observed packets suspected of containing controlled dangerous substances drop to the ground. The packets were later determined to contain marijuana and cocaine. After arresting defendant, placing him in the patrol vehicle, and retrieving the suspected drugs from the ground, the officers approached the driver. The driver produced valid driving credentials. While one of the officers questioned the driver, the other officer continued searching the grounds for any other drugs and also opened the unlocked passenger door of the vehicle. Inside, the officer found other narcotics, determined to be fifty bags of crack cocaine. The officer later acknowledged that the drugs in the vehicle were not in plain view. The driver was also arrested. Defendant was charged with third-degree possession of cocaine, third-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and third-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of school property. At a subsequent suppression hearing, the trial court found that probable cause and exigent circumstances had existed to justify the warrantless search of the automobile. Defendant pled guilty to all charges, subject to his right to appeal the denial of his suppression motion. The trial court sentenced defendant to an extended term of six years imprisonment, with a three-year period of parole ineligibility, and assessed the usual fines and penalties. In a reported decision, the Appellate Division reversed the trial court, concluding that the officers lacked probable cause to conduct the warrantless search of the vehicle. The Supreme Court granted the State s petition for certification. HELD: The State has not overcome the presumption that its warrantless search of the automobile was invalid under the federal and State constitutions. The Appellate Division properly suppressed the fruits of the search. 1. Consistent with the State and federal constitutions, a warrantless search is presumed invalid unless it falls within one of the recognized exceptions to the warrant requirement, and the State bears the burden of demonstrating that the search falls within one of those exceptions. The automobile exception to the warrant requirement requires that the State demonstrate both probable cause and exigent circumstances. Probable cause requires, in turn, that the police action emanates from a well-grounded suspicion that a crime has been or is being committed. The definition of...

"Ilyen ez a Beale Street... Másnap próba, majd koncert a Hard Rock Caféban... Egész este irtó vicces hangulatban voltam, és ez nem akaródzott alábbhagyni. Amikor megálltunk a Union Avenue egyik benzinkútjánál, és Tene elment a mosdóba, ebben a tréfás hangulatban sétáltam be a kúton lévő boltba. - Jó estééééééééééééét! Na, most akkor kiraboljuk ezt a kutat! - mondtam viccesen. A golyóálló plexi mögött álló alak nem nevetett. Ellenben előkapott valami fekete izét, és átdugta a pénz kiadására szolgáló félkör alakú kis résen. Ha látnék is, jó lenne. Mi az? Hm. Az bizony eeeeeeeegy, az úgy néz kiiiiiiiiii, miiiiiint egy RÖVID CSÖVŰ PUSKA. - Csak vicceltem, csak hülyéskedtem! - ordítok akkor már a padlón feküdve." In Part One I covered the recordings he did, along with Guitarist Scotty Moore and Bassist Bill Black, in the tiny studio at 706 Union Avenue between June 1953 and November 1954. In this second episode I throw the spotlight on the tracks he did in his final year at Sun, before Sam sold his contract to RCA in November 1955. Episode 232: “I'm Your Boogie Man” Spooktacular 2019 Part 1 This week Host Dave Bledsoe carefully checks the locks on his door, and checks beneath the bed to make sure no one is there. (It's time to pay his bar tabs!) On the show this week, Dave takes you on a world tour of his childhood monsters! (Including YOU Anthony! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID WITH THAT LEGO!) We begin in East Tennessee, first with a campfire tale and then a randy fellow who gets what is coming to him for catting around with other men's wives! (Usually a bill for a lawyer when his wife finds out!) Then we head west to Oklahoma City to find the scariest place in Oklahoma! (Besides the State Assembly, which is FULL of monsters!) After that we go across the ocean for our next tale of horror, to an island in the Pacific where legends say World War Two never ended! (Maybe NOW the Kurds can leap in and help us out!) Then we come back to Idaho for frankly the most boring ass ghost story we've ever heard. (Which is very on brand for Idaho, the land where interesting goes to die.) Finally, we go walking in Memphis to see if the ghost of Elvis really IS on Union Avenue. Follow him up to gates of Graceland and watch him get stopped by security because this is the third time the guy has tried to sneak in this week. Our Sponsor this week is the Monster Beneath Your Bed, who would like to put some absorbent padding down for your bed wetters. We open the show with a Cherokee legend and close with a disco legend. In this episode of Memphis Type History: The Podcast, Caitlin talks about WDIA, the first all-Black radio station in the U.S.A. We learn about how the transformation of this station into all-black programming and on-air talent exposed some of the best local talent to become major music icons we recognize today. On June 7, 1947, WDIA transmitted onto the radio waves for the first time from its 2074 Union Avenue studio... one of just six Memphis radio stations at that time! Owned by John Pepper and Bert Ferguson, two white guys, the station played pop and country western music… and it headed towards bankruptcy very quickly. However, in October of 1948, they hired high school teacher and columnist Nat D. Williams, who started the first radio show for black listeners in the country on WDIA and saved the station. Williams' show, Tan Town Jubilee, catapulted WDIA to 2nd most popular radio station in Memphis. The station then became the TOP station in Memphis after switching to all-black programming and all-black on-air talent. In 1954, the station increased to 50,000 watts, which meant it reached into the MS Delta, a bit of Missouri, and down to the Gulf Coast… which reached the ears of 10% of the black population in the US at that time. The station would go on to be known as the Starmaker Station because of the amount of exposure it provided local talent. One thing that was really instrumental in the station’s success was that Williams was friends with Rufus Thomas, and got him onto the station… Thomas actually kept up his show until his death in 2001. Their ties to Beale Street got BB King’s career off to a start on the station as well as many other musicians. After Beale began declining, WDIA was really a big source of musical influence (even inspiring good ol’ Elvis Presley). Another famous show on the station was called Goodwill. It covered civic news, missing children announcements, and raised money for community projects like scholarships, a bus for disabled kids, little league teams, and an orphanage, to name a few. The show turned into big fundraisers hosted by the WDIA DJ’s called the Goodwill Revue and the Starlight Revue. Big time local and national musicians like BB King, Rufus Thomas, Bobby “Blue” Bland, the Spirit of Memphis, Elvis, Sam Cooke, Muddy Waters, and Ray Charles performed for free. The local black community received about $100,000 a year from all of the Goodwill efforts. Even though black talent and programming made WDIA so popular, and the staff was integrated in 1950 (rare for the South), it wasn’t until 1972 that Chuck Scruggs became the first black general manager and vice president. Under his 12-year service, the station helped raise money to preserve the Lorraine Motel and create the National Civil Rights Museum, and participated in the revitalization of Beale Street and the creation of the Stax Museum. In this episode of Memphis Type History: The Podcast, Caitlin chats with Mark Fleischer, the man behind Storyboard Memphis. We talk most about Union and Madison Avenues, so that makes this show another good ol' piece of Memphis street history for ya! When Mark first came to Memphis, he luckily landed in Midtown, an area which sparked a deep interest in everything about Memphis history. Being relatively new to the city, he has an outsider point-of-view that helps him put a fresh eye on everything he learns about the city. Mark pretty much immediately dives right into the longtime Memphis controversy over where the Midtown borders are... and Caitlin chose not to weigh in, not one bit. According to Mark, it comes down to iffy geographic borders and the "Midtown mindset," which he describes as activist, eclectic, and diverse... with a belief that they have a say in what happens in their neighborhood and how it develops. Here's the really shocking thing for all you Midtowners – you weren't always in Midtown. In fact, just a few decades ago, you would've been living in East Memphis. Elsewhere in this interview, Caitlin learned that Mark is extremely unimpressed by Union Avenue. But he still appreciates the rich history of the street anyway. Back in the 1880s/1890s, Crump held out on putting a trolley line on Union, even though they went up and down other main streets, in hopes of putting in city-owned tracks (rather than a line owned by private companies like the others were). Before this happened, the city created a new plan that called for the widening of Union so that it would be the main thoroughfare out east... and the Peabody-like feel of the street was changed. In recent times, city planning desires are sounding like a look back to the early days of Union when it was walkable and bikeable, which it was until as recently as the '60s when it was widened again. We then discuss the aspects of Union that lack a sense of place... something that he feels got lost along the way in Union's long lifespan. If you go down Union today, you can still find some older, 20s and 30s storefronts, but you've gotta look closely. There are few of them and they're off the road because this street was built for car traffic, which means parking areas (although, of course, these spots are not as plentiful for today's traffic). Listen in to find out which corners to go explore... both on and off of Union Ave! Mark also talks about Madison and how it compares to Union... the former is curved to match the old street car lines that were installed there, as opposed to Union which was built for vehicle traffic. You get the same curvature in Cooper-Young too! Finally, come along with us for a meandering little trip down Madison, full of fits and starts that tell the history of Memphis and demonstrates a strong sense of place. Last but not least is a charming story Mark uncovered about a late 1800s/early 1900s Memphis character, Christopher Hottum. Hottum owned a saloon at 119 Madison and was a major daredevil. He once jumped off a bridge because everyone said he'd die if he did it. He promoted the last legal bareknuckle fight in Mississippi, too. Why did Mark find out about him? His tax man asked for a history of his home, and lo' and behold, this guy built it! Hottum is just one example of what Mark calls the "mythic quality" of Memphis. We end with a few fun rapid-fire questions that Mark handled like a total pro. You'll learn which Memphis neighborhood he'd stay in for all eternity, what Memphis street name he'd make his own, and more! For full show notes, go to memphistypehistory.com/union

There is a payphone outside 322 Union Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Like payphones all over, it is a public staging ground for private dramas. Raised voices are not uncommon, and conflicts range from relationship management to business affairs (legitimate and otherwise). UnionDocs, a documentary arts collaborative, works inside 322 Union. The members have been observing the payphone outside for over two and a half years. For the Conflux 2006, UnionDocs presented two projects which seek to understand the contemporary payphone experience. Serial Number: T0PS60083A, a project by Johanna Linsley, is the ritual examination of one (until recently) traditionally operational New York City payphone.
