Newstalk ZB's Mike Hosking might just be David Walliams' biggest fan — and he couldn't believe it when the comedian surprised him in the studio this morning. Walliams, who is in Auckland for his An Audience with David Walliams tour, sneaked into the Newstalk ZB studio on Friday before his first show, catching Hosking unawares while singing (I've Had) The Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing. When he spotted Walliams, the broadcaster was gobsmacked. “No fricking way, how exciting is that! This is magnificent.” “Hello mate, I've missed you. I worry about you in those tight jeans, a man of your age,” Walliams joked. Walliams met Hosking and his wife, Kate Hawkesby, in London last year, joking with the radio host, “I remember Kate, but not you ... still married?” He revealed the surprise had been in the works for some time “because you have a really huge crush on me, and it would be exciting for you”. “Yes, I do,” Hosking confirmed. When asked how the tour was going so far, Walliams said his shows in Australia had been “fantastic”. “I've been so popular in Auckland that we added this show tonight,” he said. David Walliams paid a surprise visit to the Newstalk ZB studio. Photo / Michael Craig “I've got my funny stories that I've thought about what they are and I'm telling them ... but at the same time, the audiences have been so great in Australia, and I'm sure they'll be even better in New Zealand, they sort of give you permission to kind of push it further and further and just be spontaneous,” the comedian told Hosking. “It's really restored my faith in performing comedy. Like, oh yeah, when we all get together in a room, what we really want is a laugh and it's spontaneous, I've been saying some pretty rude things.” Hosking confessed spontaneity was Hawkesby's worry because she didn't want to be embarrassed from their front-row seats. Walliams jokingly replied that shouldn't be an issue for the radio host. “You look like the kind of man that'd like attention.” “No, I don't want to be part of it, I just want to enjoy your talent,” Hosking responded. An iconic name in the comedy scene, David Walliams is giving a glimpse behind the curtain in a manner he's never done before. ‘An Audience with David Walliams' will be hitting kiwi stages later this year, the comedian bringing his signature wit and charm to the stage, telling stories and answering questions regarding absolutely anything. Walliams told Mike Hosking that the show is a real journey of his life up to this point. “The things people know me for, and there will be a few things I think people won't know about me too.” The first half of the show is more structured, the questions and answers planned, but the second half is more spontaneous as audiences are given the opportunity to ask their questions. “The show is kind of planned without it being written down, if you know what I mean.” “It's not like a script or anything, but at the same time, I wanna go out there and deliver like, you know, a hundred funny stories and maybe one or two slightly, sort-of, pointed ones too.” An Audience With David Walliams New Zealand Dates Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre Auckland - Saturday 28th September St James Theatre Wellington - Monday 30th September Douglas Lilburn Auditorium Christchurch - Wednesday 2nd October LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What a cool day we've had today. We met David Walliams from ‘Little Britain' and ‘Come Fly With Me' – two comedy shows that could never be made these days without being cancelled immediately – in fact I don't even know if there are clips still up on YouTube– probably been gassed by now. But they were hilarious shows. He's also been the judge on ‘Britain's Got Talent' so he's a big name here. But Walliams is probably most known worldwide for his books I think – fabulous author – Gangsta Granny, Billionaire Boy Robo-dog. He's an extremely entertaining children's book author and he very generously gave my daughter some books, he signed them for her and her little brother and sister, he did photos with us, and he was genuinely very funny. He actually just took the piss out of us. He called us ‘a very stylish family' but then he did have a crack at Mike about his ripped jeans. He said Mike reminded him of ‘a Karl Lagerfeld' he said he was ‘wearing clothes designed for a much younger man..' we were in fits. He also said he loved Mike's ‘stylish sunglasses' so they were hitting it off. Then after the interview we walked out to his car with him at which point Mike spotted that his car was one he'd owned before, but David had the new model. So, turns out Walliams is a car guy too, so suddenly he's telling Mike to hop in the car and they're chatting about cars, then he offers us a ride home – given we're only staying a short walk away from the BBC we had to decline that, but what a lovely and hilarious guy. As he drove away he wound down his window and yelled out at us ‘ok then leave me alone now!' so that was a treat. Then we met Graham Norton. Graham Norton we met last time in 2018 when we were here for Harry and Meghan's wedding, and he was so lovely, polite and effusive. Very humble and low key, and still the same today, just such a lovely man. As he arrived and saw us all, he said, ‘gangs all here!' Again very generous doing autographs for Marley, photos, and even participated happily in her BeReal post! Anyway, given he's got a place in New York, I asked him which he preferred. I explained we'd just come from New York, and we couldn't decide if we like London or New York better. He didn't even pause for a beat, “New York”, he said. He was very impressed with Mike's coronation invite and asked if I'd had an invite too, or if Mike could bring a plus one. When Mike explained no it was just him, Graham said, ‘not to be rude, but why you?' We were all so busy laughing I'm not sure what Mike's answer was, but Graham was very excited for him, asking if he could take his phone in, if he was wearing tails, if he would recognise all the heads of state there etc. Anyway two very lovely chatty personable and self-deprecating men, doing amazing work here, and really just topping off a fabulous two weeks in London for us. Exhausting, but fabulous. The boss texted today and said ‘are you ready to come home?' I had to say, nope, I'm not, I'd stay here forever. But the school run and the dog and life as normal awaits, so it's been a blast, it's been a privilege. But it's definitely not goodbye to London, it's see you again soon.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
David Walliams got his first taste of international fame with Little Britain back in 2003. He's gone on to be mainstay on British television, and has become a best-selling children's author. Walliams books have been translated into 53 different languages, turned into films, and has sold millions of copies. Now, his latest children's book, Gangsta Granny Strikes Again, is out now. David Walliams joined Mike Yardley. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this episode of Just the Tip we go through a fair amount of subjects in a random scattershot fashion.First we start with Egg White's varied and borderline politically incorrect alt:James Bond scenarios. Then next on the agenda, how can I NOT talk about GB News without punching myself in the cock but one particular episode I watched on Youtube about a policeman making a borderline sub racist post and two white guys (one of them being the jaw headed Colin Brazier) telling the audience it's “nothing to see” non racism and in fact the anti racists are racist for calling up the racists. Yep, heavy sh!t. Does it end there? No, we go through the varied roles that Art Malik played in his career to prove that writers are unoriginal with their non white name creations. If I was an actor with a 30 year career I would be just called Patel in every role. As John Oliver would say, Moving onto our main subject we talk about the insanity that is David Williams and his story that is being removed from the public consciousness. And we aren't even talking about when he used to black up. Basically we shine a mirror to posh boy Walliams who surprisingly has an OBE. Egg White Returns at the end for more amusing nonsense. ShownotesWatch James Bond in No Time to Die. With all the merciless plugging by Daniel Craig across all media you know what it's all about but if not. Read it here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Time_to_DieEven though GB News is dumb, if you want to see what “the Daily Mail with to posh school” is all about watch some clips on YouTube and check their site below. Who is Dave McPartlin? Dave McPartlin is the head teacher at Flakefleet Primary School. He gained notoriety when he and his students blew away judges and reached the finals on Britain's Got Talent in 2019. Before becoming head of Flakefleet Primary School, he was previously headteacher at St.Peter's CE Primary School in Lancashire. Dave and his students trail-blazed all the way to the finals, narrowly losing out on the coveted prize to Chelsea pensioner, Colin Thackery. His school's first performance was a rendition of Queen's hit Don't Stop Me Now. It brought judge David Walliams to tears, landed them a golden buzzer and an automatic place in the semi-final. Walliams said: "One of the most joyous things I have ever seen, full of unbridled joy, you’re a great teacher, you’re a great, great teacher."

Was denken die Serienrepublikaner?
Welcome to Episode 52 of the All Seeing Guys, this is our most sober (ish) episode yet, mainly because Joe had just woken up, but we can't blame him as he was still battling jet lag after not long returning from New York. So we kick off with his tales from the Big Apple & his Geezedrops. Joe also watched fairly new films on the plane so we talk Star Wars Rouge One, The Kingsmen & Split. We dive into recent bizarre news stories All Seeing Guys style, talking the mysterious death of a giant rabbit, Two year old slapped by a stranger outside a supermarket, child kidnapping for some reason, we look at Russia's ridiculous view on the impact of overweight women on the homosexual community. Then we spin off into Greg & Joe chat covering Michael C Hall & how sh*t the end of Dexter was, Nic Cage, Show Joe Shit & much more. This is a fun fast paced episode. Enjoy. Joe also has another David Walliams rant.
