Simon Esler fights for free thought with every tool he has. After building a free thinking, 14 thousand member think tank on Facebook, Simon was censored across social media for challenging official narratives. In response, he pivoted his focus to providing content to freedom oriented streaming platforms, refining his skills as a researcher, content creator and filmmaker within private communities. After almost half a decade of writing, shooting and editing original content focused on modern warfare from a psychological, cultural and spiritual perspective, Simon decided to release his first independent project for the public at large: CUT - Daughters of the West, which is an investigation into cosmetic surgery, feminist sexual liberation, and modern media trends as part of a warped legacy that was being handed to young girls as a foundation for gender ideology to take hold. In this episode, we delve into: - Simon's background - His film CUT - Daughters of the West - What's behind the trans-agenda - 5th generation warfare and how it's being used on teenagers - The war on the family unit - The power of the silent majority - Unschooling - The importance of rite of passage in our children's development - Plus plenty more! In today's episode, I sit down with Linzy Boden, who is an Integrated Therapist, Trainer and Speaker who has a real desire to help others find their true potential. As a child growing up she always felt as if she never really fit… the proverbial square peg. Looking back, she can see now that this feeling was the origin of wanting to help others and she believes the more we can learn and understand about ourselves the more we can tap into our inner strength and happiness. When working with people she has a strong desire in always wanting people to feel truly understood and heard, as well as learn more about themselves and to be able to continuously develop as human beings. I found this conversation inspiring, it's always a joy to be in the company of those full of wisdom and knowledge. In this episode, we delve into: - Linzy own journey towards becoming a counsellor - Benefits of Integrative Therapy - Impact Covid has had on mental health (esp. with the youth) - Society's over-reliant on anti-depressants - Parenthood and how best to show up for our children - How our school system is broken and the potential for change - Lack of positive role models in society - Psychedelics and their potential for healing - Plus plenty more! In today's show, I sit down again with Dr. Anton Krige, who is a medical doctor, multiple Ironman finisher, and functional medicine specialist. In this episode, we dive deep into what it's like to work closely with Anton and how he transforms his patient's health and well-being. We used me as the case study in this one and it was eye-opening to get the results back from some of the tests I did (particularly finding out that my biological age is 29 which isn't bad for a 40-something guy). And there were plenty of other fascinating insights I found out about which I've been able to integrate into my daily routine. Anton treats those with complex chronic conditions as well as those who wish to optimise sports performance whilst maintaining health & wellness using his research skills and experience to incorporate cutting-edge research findings in both health and exercise physiology. Anton was previously on the show in episode 68 in case anyone wants to hear a more wide-ranging interview on health and some of the key lifestyle factors for transforming it, the latest tech you can use to improve your health as well as what an ideal day looks like to turn around your metabolic health. They now live in the Lake District where they work in the woods, make things, take photos and enjoy adventures big and small in the surrounding mountains, lakes and valleys with their young son, Benji. For 11 years they lived in a small barn in the woods in Sussex where they discovered a new way of living and developed a deeper relationship with Nature that inspires all of the many strands of the work they do. Marcus Pibworth is a storyteller based in England but known to pop up around the globe, running storytelling workshops. He is an alumni of ‘The International School of Storytelling'. One of the key focuses of Marcus' current work is on using storytelling to explore masculinity through his ‘Stories For Men' series. I first came across Marcus in Positive News Magazine a few years back, feeling inspired by his nomadic lifestyle living in a van and travelling around the UK & Europe recording his Ministry of Change podcast. Which is conversations about mental health, navigating the difficult bits of life and what it really means to be human. In this podcast we discuss what it was like to live in a van for 3 years, mental health challenges men face, the transformational effects of storytelling, embracing fatherhood and much more in this insightful conversation. In this episode, I welcome spiritual teacher Louise Kay back on the show (for a fourth time). We hear her insight on how these challenging times are triggering the great awakening in us and mankind. We also hear how to navigate difficult relationships as well conscious manifestation. Louise grounds all the wisdom shared with an embodied awareness guided meditation towards the end. I'm always grateful for my conversations with Louise, and as I joked in the show, I imagine we'll be having these deep conversations for many more years until we are old and grey. In today's episode, I delve deep into why I believe there's never been a more important time to connect with others, speak our truth, share solutions and be the change we see in the world. Looking around and what has unfolded these past few years and seeing things with your eyes wide open you realise, once you see what's happening you can't unsee it. In this podcast, I give my take on the narrative that's been playing out, sharing my own recent experience with Covid, how critical early treatment is, the suppression of some of the world's leading doctors, how clinical trials show natural immunity is far more robust than immunity from the vaccine. I also delve into how none of the measures in place appears to be supporting increased health. In fact, they are leading to the erosion of our freedoms and potentially taking us down a dystopian version of reality. Yet, none of this must come to pass. If more of us shine our light on the darkness for others to see we can choose a different path for humanity. One that is built on connection, freedom and love. For this to happen it's going to take us all stepping forward and being part of the solution, as the old systems crumble and new ones come to light. Like Gandhi before us, it's going to take a non-violent revolution of consciousness. These challenging times will pass, like all things in life, whether they be good times or bad times nothing lasts in this life. But what a ride life is! In today's episode, I'm joined by Steffie Broer, who is the founding director of Brighter Green Futures, who build communities where people can truly thrive and live in harmony with the planet. Having built her first eco-home when she was just 26, as a single mother with her baby boy, as part of the Yard in Bristol, Steffie has gone from strength to strength using her knowledge and expertise to create Brighter Green Futures and its flagship site Water Lilies. Which will be home to 33 families, putting people and community at the heart of everything in this exciting eco-development. In this wide-ranging interview, Steffie shares how others can do the same and create their own sustainable home with like-minded individuals. In this episode, I welcome Barry Taylor on the show who has for decades been working with 'Spiritually Inspired' community projects and individuals helping them turn their inspired ideas into reality. With his roots firmly established in Glastonbury since the 1980s, having been a successful entrepreneur in his earlier years, he has endeavoured to use his skills to help Glastonbury become a beacon for spiritual development once more. In this fascinating conversation, we delve into how a poverty mindset hinders the progress of many creative ideas, and how to shift that perspective to allow your ideas to flourish and stand the test of time with the right structure in place. We also delve into what makes Glastonbury so special and how pilgrimage can help bring expanded meaning to our lives and lead to a personal transformation. In today's episode, I dive deep into the challenging times we are living through, and even though it can appear on the surface that everything is in chaos, it's a time of great transformation. This podcast is about shedding light on the good that is happening around the world (gods know we need it right now). However, that doesn't mean we should bury our heads in the ground when we are seeing injustices, lies, deceit and coercion happening right in front of our eyes. I see the old systems breaking down, and as they are, the old power structure will do everything in its power to maintain its grip. Which we are seeing with the authoritarian measure that has swept the planet in recent times. I share how I've seen the past 18 months unfold and how I believe a lot of the measures in place are in fact anti-health, which are disempowering and riddled with fear-mongering from our governments and media. It is often when we are pushed into a corner that we realise what is important to us. We are at a crossroads on the planet right now, and we all have to decide what path we are going down and the kind of world we wish to live on. I for one, am choosing a life of freedom, peace, connection, community and enlightenment. We all have a choice, we are powerful beings with so much to offer to the world, and there is a place for all of us in playing a part in the solutions. Dave Linton is the founder of Madlug (Make A Difference Luggage), which are an award-winning bag brand helping to give dignity to children in care. Started back in 2015 after he was heartbroken to hear that most children in care transport their worldly belongings in a bin bag. He set out to do something about it, and with just a few quid in his pocket he started Madlug and came up with the idea of ‘Buy one Give one' approach: so with every bag purchased, one will be given to a child in care. In today's episode, I welcome Charlotte Davies on the show who is an acclaimed Spirit Medium. It's a bit left-field this episode, although anyone who's listened to my podcast for a while will be aware of my spiritual beliefs and that this life is far more magical than we were lead to believe. But that aside, it's certainly different to other kinds of guests I've had on the show and I just ask that you keep an open mind as hear Charlotte's story. She shares some of the mind-bending stories from readings she's given to people allowing them to connect with loved ones who may no longer be in physical form but still exist in the non-physical realms. After having a reading with her early this year it left no doubt in my mind that she is tapped in to other realms and the information she brings through is genuine. Charlotte talks about how this all began in childhood, the challenges she faced in her early years dealing with these extrasensory abilities, and how she came to terms with it and has allowed it to be a force for good in her life. In this episode, I welcome spiritual teacher Louise Kay back on the show to hear her wisdom on the challenges we are facing right now and the opportunity it’s giving us to awaken to our deeper selves. She shares what she thinks the biggest lessons we can take from the last year, how existential crises can lead to awakening, as well as hearing her perspective on the importance of presence in raising children. Louise guides us on a meditation to connect with our energy bodies, allowing us to go beyond the mind, release trauma and find that stillness that awaits behind it once we direct our attention towards it. In today episode, I discuss a topic that’s close to my heart – giving up our relentless pursuit of material possessions and instead focusing our attention on doing good and how this brings us the happiness, satisfaction and the recognition we are after (and save us a ton of money and time in the process). From my own experience of chasing after and amassing a certain level of material wealth in the past, I come to realise I was always left wanting more, always comparing myself to others and being left with a deep dissatisfaction with daily life. I’ve found there is an alternative way of living, by letting go of that way of doing and achieving and instead, charting our own heart-centred path, we bring greater freedom and contentment into our lives. With this space and time, we can then focus our energy on creating lasting positive changes in our lives and those around us. I touch on how minimalism supports this transition, as well as relieving ourselves from the constant debt cycle and how living a simple uncluttered life is a doorway to untold riches. In today's episode, I welcome James Boag back on the show. This time around we focused our attention on the events that have been unfolding the past year and the opportunity it’s given us to reclaim our individual sovereignty. James intertwines his yogic wisdom into the subject offering a deeper perspective on the current events, allowing us to see the gifts that have come by taking this extended pause. And as the saying goes ‘the bigger the challenge, the bigger the opportunity is for growth’ we discuss how we are being invited to see this time as an opportunity to become better versions of ourselves. I for one felt nourished by this inspiring conversation and gave me renewed optimism, I hope you get the same from it and for those interested in hearing more from James you can tune into episode 42 of this podcast as well as checking out his website. In today's episode, I’m joined by artist, author & podcaster Ben Tallon to hear how he’s carved a career out for himself by doing the things he loves. While juggling his day job being an artist he’s recently published two Indie books (YA MUM & Isolation Watch) giving him a new creative outlet to the explore other ideas and interests. And given the fact he’s recently become a father to twins, it makes it all the more impressive. The one thing that stands out for me about Ben and his work is he’s not afraid to try something new and see where it ends up. Often the smallest of ideas at the time has taken him down new and exciting paths. In this podcast, Ben offers advice to those looking to get their creative passions off the ground, his techniques for being productive as well many other nuggets of wisdom from his years of experience. In today's episode, I’m joined by filmmaker & musician Ben Joseph Stewart, who's mind-expanding films have reached millions of people around the globe helping them on their awakening journey. He also has a popular show on Gaia called Limitless and has recently started producing his weekly Waking Infinity News, which I would highly recommend, as he delves way beneath the surface of what is going on in the world. Ben is not afraid to speak his truth and go against the status quo, something I believe takes bravery in this world. In today's episode, the final one of 2020, I reflect on the year we’ve just had and discuss how now more than ever, we should expect the unexpected in our lives. Never before, in our lifetimes anyway, have all our worlds been turned so much upside down by the effects of Covid-19. All our dreams, wishes and plans have been abruptly halted, causing us to put the breaks on our fast-paced lives. Whether we like it or not, it’s happened. We can either fight with our reality, attempting to get back to ‘normal’ so we can continue full pelt on the hamster wheel. Or we can take this once in the lifetime opportunity to take a deep pause and reflect on our lives and the choices we make. As we step forth into 2021 and beyond, we have an opportunity to rather than getting lost in plans for the future or worrying about the past, we can instead choose to act more in the present moment and take each day as it comes. Today’s episode is with Eddie Coker, a children's singer/songwriter who typically performs over 200 concerts a year (and has been described as the James Brown of children's music). Truth is our kids are hurting, Eddie has seen this more than most over the past several decades, so through his organisation, he helps tens of thousands of young people and their families navigate the complexity of our emotional lives with practical skills and tips that are delivered through a variety of highly engaging media. It’s been nearly two years since I launched my podcast and have just passed 50 episodes. During this time I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to create a successful podcast. Recently I’ve been receiving a lot of messages about how to start a podcast so I’ve created this episode showing you step-by-step instructions. In this episode I share these 5 Steps: 1. Coming up with a theme for your show 2. Get yourself a good quality microphone 3. Recording your first episode 4. Find a place to host your files 5. Promoting your podcast I’ll expand on these steps and will also share some added extra information on other things like how to develop an income from podcasting. The best thing you can do is just start and make it up as you go along as twenty years from now you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than the things you did. By starting a podcast you’ll learn a ton of things along the way and you never know where it may lead you one day. You may even chart a new career path for yourself. The world is your oyster. 4:40 - Intro to podcasts 5:23 - Getting Started Getting Clear on the theme of your show 7:22 - Podcast artwork & description of your show 8:20 - Getting the right equipment 9:53 - Recording your first episode 12:56 - Where to host your podcast 13:47 - Backing up your files 14:41 - Inviting guests on your show 17:51 - Interview tips 21:44 - Sharing your podcast 26:02 - Added Extras 30:20 - How to make an income from your podcast All of this detailed on the website in more detail so be sure to check out the show notes on our website: https://www.dogoodpodcast.co.uk/how-to-start-a-podcast If you found this article useful and enjoy my podcast please consider supporting my podcast for as little as the price of a cup of coffee each month: https://www.patreon.com/dogoodpodcast
On today's show, I spoke with Pam Warhurst who cofounded Incredible Edible, an initiative begun in Northern England dedicated to growing food locally by planting on unused land throughout the community, she called it propaganda gardening. She has been an activist and advisor for over 40 years. She has been involved in local politics and national policy as the Chair of the Board of the Forestry Commission, which advises on and implements forestry policy in Great Britain. She also co-founded Incredible Edible Todmorden, a local food partnership that encourages community engagement through local growing. Incredible Edible started small, with the planting of a few community herb gardens in Todmorden, and today has spin-offs in the U.S. and Japan, counting over 100 groups in the UK and 1000 world-wide. Incredible Edible empowers ordinary people to take control of their communities through active civic engagement, redefining prosperity through the power of small actions. She is currently developing the impact work of Incredible Edible through the proposition of a New Social Contract to transform the frameworks of our lives so that all people can live well and live long. In today’s episode, I welcomed Sion Jones on the show to hear about his fascinating journey towards becoming a yoga and meditation teacher. Having been living in a state of intense anxiety and distress for years when he was younger, he found great relief through taking yoga classes, helping him feel more grounded and at ease with himself. This began a decade long enquiry into this practice which has taken him all around the world in search of deepening his understanding into this way of life. He now passes on all that he’s learnt to help others transform their own lives through his classes, workshops and retreats. We talk about a wide range of subjects in this episode, from emotional health, eye-opening documentaries, travelling and exploring the world as well as living in community just to name a few. SAS, set up in 1990, are a grassroots movement that has grown into one of the UK’s most active and successful environmental charities. In today’s episode, I spoke with David Hieatt who is the founder of Hiut Denim, who is based in Cardigan in West Wales. Their ethos is to Do One Thing Well and because of that approach many say they make the best jeans on the planet right now (which I have to agree with having owned a pair for the last 7 years). When I started this podcast I had a list of the kind of people and companies that I wanted to speak with and Hiut was on that list. Not just because they make the best jeans but because of the mission behind the brand and how they bringing craftsmanship back to a town which desperately needed to start making things again. Set up by David and Clare Hieatt, their mission is to get back the 400 jobs that back that where lost when the biggest jeans factory in Britain closed its doors back in 2001. And when Megan Markel was seen wearing their jeans it took them to a whole new level and allowed them to move back into the original factory that used to make 35,000 jeans per week. For any budding entrepreneur or a seasoned pro, there is plenty of wisdom shared in this episode, whether that’s about having patience and hard work with your idea to the importance of curating a story behind your brand, there’s a lot worth absorbing in this one. In this episode, I had a truly fascinating conversation with yoga teacher James Boag, hearing all about his approach to becoming a whole human being. From yogic movement, applied philosophy, meditation, storytelling and kirtan his approach is quite different from what you might expect when you imagine a yoga teacher. James lives a truly inspiring life. One could suggest he’s as free as a bird, going where the wind takes him as he shares his gifts to the world. One of those gifts is his wonderful signing voice which you’ll hear from the start of the podcast when he chants Ganesh Sharanam, setting you up perfectly for the wisdom that shines through in this episode. In this episode, I attempt to offer a silver lining when we are going through challenging times our life. I Beleive amongst every crisis is an opportunity to see the good that can come from it. For the most part, it's up to us to reframe external events and see the positives that can come from them and how they can help steer us down a better path. I share some inspiring stories that have come out of the current pandemic, from the countless community groups that are appearing throughout our neighbourhoods, to the environmental benefits, and how one billionaire is giving away a massive chunk of his wealth to help get us through these times. In this episode, I sat down with Chor Amor founder, Paul Williams, who is a small but mighty producer of flavoured single-origin chocolate. After being made redundant from his finance job in 2010 and having no luck finding a new role after sending out over a thousand CVs, he decided that he had to create his own job. Then during one sleepless night, he stumbled across an article about selling chocolate and this is where his idea was born. The company has thrived since starting out in Paul’s kitchen and is now a multi award winning manufacturer of “fiendishly good chocolate” which is ethically sourced. It’s a fascinating story and one that could be just the ticket to give you the extra motivation to get started on that new idea. In this episode, I had a great conversation with Bruce Davis, who is the founder and managing director of Abundance Investment, which has been at the forefront of financial innovation since 2012, creating ways for everyone to invest in green and social infrastructure. Bruce was instrumental in the development of peer to peer finance, using that knowledge along with his fellow co-founders to create Abundance. It’s impressive how well this company is run, not only for its green credentials but the level of trust and transparency you get with where you invest your money. For as little as £5 you can start an account and start making good money by investing in a better world. We also discuss the financial impact of the current pandemic, educating the youth on money as well as dispelling some of the myths around being an entrepreneur. In this episode, I had a fascinating conversation with Rich Zimmerman, the Executive Director of Orangutan Outreach, whose mission is to save critically endangered orangutans and protect their rainforest home. Rich's unconditional love for orangutans stretches back to his childhood growing up in southern California, and after a trip to Indonesia in 2006 he felt deep in his heart that he had to do something to protect these animals. Especially after hearing that six football-sized fields of rainforest a minute were being destroyed just for oil palm consumption. Using his experience from working at UNICEF in NYC and several orangutan conservation organisations, he has helped save the lives of thousands of orangutans through is many outreach programs across Indonesia. This is one inspiring heartfelt story, you’ll either want to adopt one of their orangutans or go do your own bit of good in the animal world. In this episode, I share my thoughts on the current coronavirus pandemic and how within every crisis there is an opportunity for positive change. Now I’m not getting away from that fact this is a very challenging time for the planet as we navigate the effects it’s having on our daily lives (especially in the short term at least). Yet can we use this time of slowing down to reflect more deeply on how we are living our lives, individually and collectively, to make more conscious choices in times to come? And we can begin to ask some bigger questions too, like do the political and financial systems that are in place serve the best interest of the people and the planet of a whole? I discuss all of this as well as how I expect more people to go inward during the time and develop their own mindfulness practises to support their own mental health and wellbeing. In this episode I was joined by musician and sound therapy practitioner, Alex Macarte, to hear all about his career and how its evolved over recent times. Alex has been in the music industry since he was a teenager and has toured all over the world with his band Gnod, who are a British rock band from Salford, Greater Manchester. Then a few years back he started to understand the deeper healing qualities of sound and this began his journey towards becoming a sound therapy practitioner, which uses vibrations (vocal or instrumental-like gongs, Tibetan singing bowls and tuning forks) in order to relax your mind and body. He works one-to-one with clients as well as running events. In this episode, I talk about one of the things I’m most passionate about, optimising my health and wellbeing. I delve deep into my own healing journey, something I’ve not talked about much, and how I’ve overcome numerous chronic health conditions which I had since I was a teenager. Even though it’s been tough going at times, I see it as a blessing as I’ve been able to empower myself and uncover many insightful things as I got to the root cause of my own symptoms to bring my body back into a state of balance so I can feel like I’m thriving, rather than just surviving. Sadly too many people are feeling in a state of dis-ease these days. I believe good health is available to everyone so I hope by sharing my own experience and what’s helped me on my own path others will see there’s a route for them to regain their own health and live well for years to come. In this episode, I visited leading functional medicine practitioner, Dr Sarah Davies to hear about the amazing results she’s having with complex health conditions that her patients have been suffering with. As a trained GP working within the NHS, she became frustrated with the prescribed approach to healthcare so decided to train in Functional Medicine to help get to the root cause of many of her patients' symptoms. Dr Sarah is passionate about the importance of nutrition and lifestyle in shaping and optimising health - preferring this approach over medications to mask symptoms wherever possible. She has many successes treating patients with autoimmunity, thyroid problems, chronic fatigue and many other issues using these techniques. This podcast is perfect for anyone who’s looking to delve deeper into their own health and wellbeing to empower themselves and those around them to live a healthier life.
In this episode, I share my thoughts on gift-giving during this time of the year and how the best things in life really aren’t things. At Christmas, we each spend almost £1000 each on presents, decorations, food, drink and going out. Most people don’t account for this extra spend and end up getting in debt just to get by, loading themselves with extra pressure and stress when this time of year is supposed to be about slowing down. This excess is clouding the true spirit of Christmas, so in this podcast, I delve deeper into how we can face this festive period from a greater sense of balance and peace and how we can better share our time and money. From more thoughtful gift-giving ideas to making charitable donations as well as volunteering our time, this episode is full of ideas on how we can get back to what this time of year really means. We’ll feel better for it (and so will our bank balances).
