We have been anointed to pass judgement as to which movies will be forever referred to as "one of the greats." Each episode we discuss and debate the greatest movies of all time. Majority always rules. We also make ridiculously weekly bets related to the movies we discuss.

This part 2 of the Cannon Cast. If you missed part 1 - we discussed the Tobe Hooper film INVADERS FROM MARS (1986) with our special guest Austin Trunick, author of The Cannon Film Guide. As previously mentioned, our conversation was too large to be contained in one single podcast episode. So we split it in two. This episode we pick up right where we left off and discuss Tobe Hooper's other two Cannon Films: LIFEFORCE (1985) and THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 (1986). So welcome and enjoy our conversation already in progress. Welcome to the Cannon Cast: Part 1 - INVADERS FROM MARS. This episode features special guest Austin Trunick, author of THE CANNON FILM GUIDE. Our plan was simple. Carve out a little bit of time to discuss Tobe Hooper's 3 Cannon films -INVADERS FROM MARS (1986), LIFEFORCE (1985), and THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 (1986). Though we had a great conversation with Austin about these 3 films, it was a long conversation. So, we split this episode into two parts. You are listening to part 1. We go through introductions, share a few other films we've each watched recently, and spend some time talking about INVADERS FROM MARS. Enjoy Part 1 of our discussion with Austin and then check out Part 2 which will be released within a day or so of this episode. Previously on the Greatest Movies of All Time Podcast, the Nicolas Cage film PIG was mentioned during opening conversations, though another film was up for discussion that day, Jesse and Gabriel promised to return to discuss PIG more at a later date. With this episode they fulfill that promise. Though this breakout episode was originally a Patreon member exclusive, the movie is too good to keep it locked away. So, here it is the PIGcast! Along the way they talk a bit about the passing of Norm MacDonald and share their October podcast plans for Spooky Movie Month! THE FIFTH ELEMENT (1997) brought two characters together - one played by Milla Jovovich and the other by Bruce Willis. This episode of The Greatest Movies of All Time, in which we discuss Luc Besson's 1997 film, has also brought two individuals together. The need to discuss and debate the greatness of this sci-fi adventure has reunited Jesse with a long lost friend - Derrick. The amount of time between their last conversation is greater than the age of this film; however, the only greatness we are focused on in this episode is in regards to this particular film. The official fantasy film league of The Greatest Movies of All Time Podcast is going into extra innings! Due to the unpredictable nature of this year's movie release schedule, a number of films have not been released within their expected time frame. For this episode we will be checking in with the League of the Greats and our league Commissioner has granted a special extension. Those within the League with unreleased films in their draft will be dropping these films and picking up replacement films. This extension is for one month: September 1 - September 30th. Listen as Jesse, Gabriel, JB, Nicky J, and Lee update their rosters with September hopefuls. THEN EACH MEMBER OF THE LEAGUE WILL BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPAND THEIR ROSTER WITH ONE OCTOBER SURPRISE! Each member of the League will select an additional movie from the October release calendar to expand their film draft. This will be the final film for each member. At the end of the month the total Rotten Tomato score will be added to each members' point total. All percentage ratings will be translated to positive points, there will be no negative points. We are in the final stretch of the 1st season of the League of the Greats! The selections in this episode could change everything we have come to know and expect, it's still anyone's game. We close out our focus on the films of David Fincher with ZODIAC (2007) and THE SOCIAL NETWORK (2010). Can either one of these rather long films be called one of the greats? We record a rather long podcast to answer that question. Additionally, we supply the answer to the age old question surrounding all film adaptions based on novels as we rundown many of Fincher's other films: THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON (2008), THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO (2011), and GONE GIRL (2014). This episode's Greatest Movie Game is the classic Kill Your Babies: David Fincher Edition. Also discussed: EUROVISION SONG CONTEST: THE STORY OF FIRE SAGA (2020) and THE FUNDAMENTALS OF CARING (2016).

Recorded a few months ago, in this episode we discuss Spike Lee's latest joint, the Netflix exclusive DA 5 BLOODS (2020). Is Lee's Vietnam centered film one of the greats? This episode marks our first Championed Film Presentation in which Gabriel offers up his selection for a possible great - PowerPoint presentation and all. He is also given the honor of updating our favorite films on the Greatest Movies Letterboxd profile (https://letterboxd.com/greatestmovies/). Due to a lengthier discussion, a few technical hiccups, and a doozy of a game/bet we limit our additional movie discussions to JB's viewing of IMPERIAL DREAMS (2014). Check out Gabriel's presentation on our Twitter - https://twitter.com/movies_greatest
"Show me the fever. Into the fire. Taking it higher and higher. Nothing to fear. It's only desire. Taking you higher and higher!" Episode six continues our foray into the world of Fincher. This episode we check out THE GAME and PANIC ROOM. Before we get started, we spend a bit of time crawling back into our memory banks to remember our initial reactions to the Star Wars prequels. Let's just say, we kind of remember things correctly. For this week's Greatest Movies Podcast Game we turn to the movie-viewing tastes of the Letterbox.com community to help us determine the Fincher fan favorites. You can find our Letterbox account at http://www.letterboxd.com/greatestmovies
After an extended summer break, we are back and we have a lot of movies to discuss! This episode we decide if the Safdie Brothers’ A24 film UNCUT GEMS is one of the greats. Episode 4 is all about Robert Egger's film The Lighthouse starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. Listen to our conversation as we discuss if The Lighthouse is one of the greats. Though this episode was recorded before his passing, we also take a brief dive into many of the films by the late Joel Schumacher. Lastly, this week's betting game answers the age old question: fart or flatulence? Keep up with the movies we review by following us at https://letterboxd.com/greatestmovies/
Episode 3 finds the crew beginning our journey through the films of David Fincher. Over the next two months we will occasionally take a break from our usual evaluation format on films to debate and declare which (if any) of David Fincher's works will be forever referred to as "one of the greats." This week we check out Seven and Fight Club. We also explore a handful of movies considered "not-greats" and our weekly bet sees us creating a somewhat fight club of our own (with some help from Common sense Media). Keep up with the movies we review by following us at https://letterboxd.com/greatestmovies/
The group is back at again evaluating two more movies and debating if either will forever be called "one of the greats." This week we check out Onward and Jojo Rabbit. Will either be labeled a great?
